I kinda understand knox. I am confused by the custom ROMs that say knoxless. You need a custom recovery to install these ROMs which will trip knox counter will it not? So what's the point in the ROMs be knoxless or am I missing a way to flash the ROMs without tripping the knox counter?
knox will stop superuser/root from working.
knox is in the stock ROM and is a security container to make Android more secure, so that it can compete with Blackberry and Apple in the business sector. The Knox flag just lets Samsung know that you have installed custom software and your phone is no longer "Secure", it's kind of like breaking a security seal.
It's currently impossible to flash a custom ROM or install a custom bootloader and not trip the knox flag. Only the su binary in the stock ROM will not trip the knox flag because it's just an added file.
Thanks, so there is no way not to trip knox. So, what is the point of knoxless in ROMs?
Don't mean to hijack the thread but su installed on stock won't trip Knox? So I could root and stay stock recovery boot loader etc and Knox won't be tripped?

I wasn't being a pr*ck as YOU put it. No need to swear, just shows the real character in you.
You obviously couldn't be bothered to read a couple of posts up and get all defensive when someone points out that your question had already been answered !
If you didn't understand what he was saying (which was quite straight forward and to the point), wouldn't you have replied to that post or questioned that content?
There are about 100 other threads in XDA regarding knox and many explanations, why is there yet another....

You showed your true character in the way you responded to a new forum member. I just used the perfect word to describe that.
I have now read up further on how knox affects superuser/root so will now mark this thread as solved. You could have so easily pointed a new user in that direction in a much more personable manor.

Every time you flash something that is not a Samsung stock software from your PC with Odin the binary count is raised. Ir reflects the number of non-stock flashed items, but the count can be reset to 0 with Triangle Away by Chainfire. Check his thread to download it or buy it in Play Store.

So as answered on top by gee2012, binary counter counts how many time you flashed your device with not official firmware. There are other ways to drop the counter to 0, but everything downloaded and installed from net is risky! and first of all ask yourself a question, do you need root? sure? why? Because Android is open enough, it’s not IOS which you can’t do nothing on unless you Jailbreake and even then it’s less useful than Android!
Sorry had to correct my post due to old info.

TriangleAway works just fine on JB. Chainfire updated it a while ago.

Well i tryed on my SHV-E250S, version v2.10, just two days ago, and it told me: see attache pic.
May be it`s the problem in my EFS that couse this, well if it works with JB as well, i take my statement back! for me it did not.
on Chainfire`s triangle away page:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
He says: Various Qualcomm-based Samsung devices should now be supported as well, but I don't know which ones - please let me know!
Suspected is a large range of Qualcomm based Note and S2 variants.
** Various related models are supported depending on firmware, but only the exact model numbers listed are supported regardless of firmware version.
Whether or not Triangle Away works depends largely on your kernel. Flashing a different kernel may make it work if it previously didn't.
Please also note that some devices set the counter to 1 at every boot if you are running a custom kernel or recovery.
So for mine it didn`t work yet.((( (SHV-E250S)
But still, yes, i admit that was wrong, probably read an older post. Sorry, gona correct my post!

I see, never mind, thanks for correcting my post.
So i have Googled i747m stock rom. But the top result comes up to be "unroot" i747m.
Unless I am confusing the terms. I want to use the stock rom (for the stability sake) but I still want root access. Does installing stock rom = uproot?
And by the way. Rom works for I747 will work for i747m, right?

Search the boards for rooted stock firmware
And research how to perform a factory reset after you flash that stock firmware. You will need that information.

Yes.
It's the most recent OTA.
If you don't want Knox there is a thread around here of how to get the OTA without gettin gthe Knox bootloader. Same ROM.
Please search before posting next time. This is EASILY the most answered, re-answered, and overdiscussed question on the entire T Mobile S4 forum. It's been discussed to death for months. A search for this answer woudl have provided approximate 8 bagillion results.

Flash rom won't trigger Knox, just increase rom counter.
Flash CF-Autoroot will trigger Knox.
Flash a custom recovery will trigger the Knox too.

If anyone were looking at exploiting, as a non-expert on the subject, with SELinux set to enforcing, you'd need either a kernel-space exploit (which can bypass SELinux), or take over a system service. On KitKat, being able to create the install-recovery.sh file in /system/etc and chmod it 0755 is usually enough (takes over the flash_recovery service). On Lollipop, you'd also have to manage that file being started as init. There's no 5.0 Samsung firmwares in the wild yet, but on stock Android just writing that file is no longer enough, because it doesn't run in the right SELinux context anymore - you need a modified kernel (ramdisk) as well (for which you need an unlocked bootloader). Looking at my international Note 4 (still on KitKat), there is only one service that runs as init, but it doesn't run as root (it runs as system), so you'd have to both exploit that service and find a way to elevate yourself from system to root user. And I'm pretty sure that service will no longer run as init on 5.0...
A normal exploit is thus unlikely to even work. You may have more luck with a kernel exploit that can bypass SELinux, but these are rare, and generally make the system unstable. Most exploit-based roots use a kernel exploit to modify system, then reboot so you can have root on a stable system. But just modifying system (as illustrated above) is no longer enough to gain root (barring a major Samsung messup) on 5.0, so this will also not work properly. Even with a major Samsung messup, modifying system is not even going to work once dm-verity becomes enabled (which it will, at some point).
For a proper root on 5.0, it may be the case that both a kernel exploit and a bootloader exploit is needed, rare and high-value exploits both.
I may certainly be corrected by real exploiters, and we're running ahead of a 5.0 firmware, but still. Though I'm not saying it's impossible, a working root on 5.0 seems unlikely. 4.4 less unlikely, but I still wouldn't bet money on seeing one.

Interested in contributing towards the development of root, root with Samsung Knox bypass, or bootloader unlocking of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4?
How to pledge: leave a comment below stating how much you would like to pledge, and what you would like your pledge to go towards.
Example: soraxd pledging $50 towards root. $0 towards Knox. $75 towards an unlocked bootloader. (This means if all 3 are claimed, I would give $125)
Your financial pledge will only be claimed if an applicable method is shared. All pledges will be assumed USD, unless otherwise stated in pledge. If at any time you wish to amend or retract your pledge, a new reply must be created doing so. XDA will never ask to hold your pledge in escrow. If at any time an acceptable method is shared related to your pledge, you will be notified through XDA forums.

Well, to be fair, you blatantly went against the obvious rules and start actually trying to collect money... tsk tsk tsk!
I wish I had the time to really sit down and figure out and understand how to find exploits and manage to obtain root on devices like Chainfire does. His work really amazes me. Even though its not good news per-say, it still impresses me that he can figure all that out. One smart cookie. I would have no idea where to start. What programs to use, what I should be looking for, plus everything else I am completely unaware of lol. Hope someone out there is able to root this phone sometime. Im not moving off 4.4 unless AT&T makes me or a root exploit comes out once 5.0 hits. For anyone working on root access, I wish you the best of luck. Ill donate once a root is found, if its found. For now Im just gonna keep my donation private so that its not something some has to keep track of.

Since you have made this new list, would you consider creating a more official bounty post thread, where no collections are to be made.
Below is what the mod said in regards to new bounty thread. If someone is interested I guess the right thing to do would be to contact the mod first
"If anyone would like to pledge after this I recommend contacting the OP by PM.
You can also contact me by PM to be added. Either way it should get to me.
I will update the list as time allows but a minimum of once a week or sooner as conditions warrant.
Edit: Updated 11/19 11:00 am
I am open to someone else other than the OP starting a new thread to maintain the list under very specific conditions.
If you would be interested in this please PM me and I will be happy to explain further.
Please contact me by PM if you have any questions about this action.
Thank you for your cooperation and support of XDA Developers."
Well... Much appreciation to pr0cl1v1ty for getting the tide rolling in this forum. Obviously, based upon the numbers of pledges, there are a considerably fair number of us that are perfectly fine with holding onto our ATT N4s and patiently awaiting progress. Nothing against anyone that has pursued other avenues... but I come here multiple times a day to see what (if any) root discussion progress has been made with regard to the N910A.
That said, It is great to see that a moderator has stepped in and placed an official stamp on how things should unfold. I'll continue to patiently wait and enjoy my unrooted beast of a phone until something noteworthy breaks on the root front.
Devs rule.

Soraxd, the knox should be higher amount then the root, being that no knox trip is with root also. It would include all of the amount for root if all they offered was for root and didn't care about knox.
Can a mod delete the other root bounty threads and put up a single official one? It's very confusing and will definitely hurt the effort to have multiple threads and have people confused on top of having the original thread closed. What a fubar.

Historically the exploiters who come up with Samsung Knox bypasses are not the ones who come up with root. If an exploiter releases both root with Knox bypass as their initial release, then theyll claim both bounties.
