Motorola "Luge" - Droid RAZR M General

As seen on Droid-Life
Verizon is re-branding the Motorola RAZR M as the Motorola Luge and marketing it for Pre-paid service.
From all early reports it is ... the exact same phone. (XT907)
If anyone can confirm this, perhaps the forum name needs to be modified to include the new device.
(Just in case any prepaid customers buying a brand new 2012 mid range device for more than you can buy an M on Amazon or Ebay want help rooting and pwning their device.)

I wonder if it says that we'll get the next major android updates officially

I hope too, official Android L (KLP?) would be great. And also that somebody will find a way to unlock and root it (and RAZR M on 183.46.13 too)

With boot loader unlocked you can flash root. The important part is for you to unlock your boot loader under kitkat.

Further to that point, note that Verizon is still selling the actual RAZR M (branded as such) on its website in August 2014 -- $0.49 on a two-year contract or $14.99/month on the "edge" program!

I would personally watch for that 4.4.4 update first.

I was invited to the 4.4.2 Motorola soak test and the soak moderator indicated that 4.4.2 was going to likely be the final update (security patches not with standing) that the M will see. Sorry.
Its all custom ROMs from here on out.
Flash 'em if ya got 'em

"Out of Stock", so good luck with that.
And I didn't want no stinkin' contract anyway.
My problem is, I ordered a RAZR M but got a Luge. Send it back? ... I've got 2-4 weeks to decide...
It's only a question because the Luge ships with KitKat 4.4.2 (minimum probably because it's a Q3-2014 phone) with later system and kernel, and I wanted (the possibility of) a JB 4.3-based phone with APP OPPS and minus all the new clutter of KitKat(+). But the Luge is not, or rather was not easily rooted, until a couple of geniuses came up with a root method for 18x.46.15 ... and 18x.46.10 with post-May Kernels? ... here:
ROOT for DROID RAZR M - XT907 183.46.15
Still no solution for unlocking (just root), but that exploit also apparently works with the Luge, system 185.46.10.XT907, system/kernel date 25 August 2014.
Just in case any Luge owner is looking.
EDIT: I returned the Luge, so NVM most of this.

It's the same phone as the RAZR M, just rebranded... and with newer firmware, i.e., the Kernel version date defeats the exploit that exists on older (RAZR M) phones.
But read this new thread, because it also applies to the Luge and your newer 185.46.10 firmware (at least 1 or 2 users have successfully rooted their Luge phones):
ROOT for Droid Razr M XT907- 183.46.15
EDIT: The method in that thread ^ is only for rooting, NOT unlocking the bootloader.

Refer to the post I quoted up there. It references firmware downloads.

Motorola Luge On GSM
I have a Motorola Luge that I would like to use on AT&T or T-Mobile. I have read through some of the posts, but I am a bit confused. Is there just one program that will open the Luge up or is there more than one? I would prefer to not root it, if I don't have to.

Just use kingroot for rooting the luge 185.46.10.Xt907.Verizon.US and either leave it or replace with superuser. It easy and can be done. Problem for me is unlocking the bootloader to change ROM.

Hello, Is there any solution to the moto luge stuck on ap fastboot? i need some help

And a ton of people are going to ask the same question. Sigh!
As of yet, there's no OTA update roll out for the latest .368 firmware for the arc. Some regions have the OTA update for the neo.
We ALL will just have to wait a bit longer for SE to do the honours. Patience mate!
so how other arc users managed to update their devices ?

If you have an unlocked bootloader (as adviced in your first post), then you must look in the development section, they have the stuff you need.
If you have locked bootloader like so many of us, you just have to try and keep hitting the "update button" in the settings menu and hope for the best.

[Q] RAZR Moto's 1st unlockable bootloader.what it means for us??

Motorola has confirmed that RAZR will be launched with an unlock-able bootloader..does that mean that it would be easier to port ICS on defy too??or it has no benefit for us, the defy owners??
sadly no... no implication on our development unless our boot loader is unlocked. that means no custom kernel for us.
Just wanted to add that the GSM version, outside the US, will have an unlockable bootloader.
The CDMA/LTE version on Verizon will be locked.
I thought its just one version...capable of GSM+HSDPA+LTE or CDMA
Can you paste the source? Thanks
I NEED TO KNOW~~~
Not even a meaning.
You know why, because DefY is a old phone, like Milestone.
(I'm talking about the DefY non plus. plus maybe get a chance unlock, since it's new)
so if defy+ gets an unlocked bootloader, they can make it work on defy as well, right?? i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to bootloaders and custom kernels...also, does having a locked bootloader affect the chances of running CM9 (whenever it is released) on defy??
I was hoping a reverse would be true since our defy is old and hence can be unlocked wirhout much pressure from the operators.

Some kernel specific features may not work but CM9 most certainly will be supported.

That is not entirely correct.
It's just that Project Cheesecake (search for bootloader related stuff on Moto dev serveres) didn't bring up something useful.
All other attempts to attack the bootloader have been unsuccessful so far.
So samcripp has the support he needs if he asks for it, but AFAIK there are simply no new leads to go after.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I would root right now while you have the chance and install a custom lollipop rom.
After the official lollipop gets released by LG it will lock your bootloader, If you already have it unlocked.
Also it's rumored that root may not work on the G3 after the official lollipop update.

I think CloudyG3 1.2 -=- [All Variants] might work for you as a custom rom, He hasn't released lollipop version yet, It's still on 4.4.2 for now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-cloudyg3-1-0-t2917467
But when he does release the lollipop version it will be rooted!! and you will still have your bootloader unlocked!!
This is the rom I'm waiting for on my D852 since I'm pretty much in the same boat as you when it comes to not much development for my model.
You will lose root or bootloop if you OTA while rooted.
I've seen a lot of people get their G3's stuck in a bootloop from accepting a OTA while bootloader is unlocked too.
Personally I would just avoid any OTA's for now and stick with stock 4.4.2 or a custom rom, I'm itching to try lollipop too, sooo bad. but it's not worth being locked down!!

Can you screen shot your kernel information in settings and then about phone so I can see what it says for the rooted kernel. And copying the entire system to use it on the other phone is possible. Just depends on certain things.
I guess I should of bought a rooted one myself...........
think that no one has the root yet on this phone, so, pay attention to the instructions that forum masters will give to you. You could be a HERO for the entire Sm-n920a community and users hahahah. Btw, i don't know your knowledge about this things but yes, is possible to do this. There's no root for AT&T Note 5 SM-N920A if you are running Marshmallow with the Nov security update! If you are on this version you are screwedededed!!!! I tried every type of way to install firmwares PH4 ==> PH2 and I tried every version of firmware I could find on this planet. I have tried OGG. I have tried crashing my installation, then trying to downgrade.
Long story short; If you have an unlocked SM-N920A running Android 6.01 with Nov Security Patch I will definitely be donating to you if you upload. If you aren't a member of this forum I promise you that you are safe. The guys here will help you make a copy of the firmware which will not include your personal information. (Look for the guys with lots of Thanks, listen to them)
So if you are coming in from Google and you are wondering if you can root or downgrade now you know that you can't. I'm a beginner Android Developer who follows directions like a champion, save your time trying to downgrade it is fully blocked by the bootloader.

Convert one variant of MZ²P to another?

I bought the wrong version of the Moto Z² Play (XT1710-09). So I'm unable to get LTE here in the United States.
Is this a software issue (modem firmware) that I could possibly flash in the future?
I recall with the old Moto X2, you could convert it into a Pure edition (XT1095).
Thanks

I can't imagine that this would be possible. I am fairly certain that -09 is the Brazilian dual SIM model.
In the USA, the US Unlocked version is -01 and the Verizon version is -02.
How did you get a Brazil phone in the States?
I would try to return or exchange it.
If that's not possible, you could sell it online and hopefully only lose a bit of money.

I thought it was Pakistani, as the update Channel is RETAPAC (just noticed there's no C in Pakistani), guess it's Retail Pacific.
I looked at the 01/02, but they had less ram and storage 3/32 compared to 4/64 for 09.
Can't send it back I've already rooted it.
And times up, I also dinged the outside corner (these phones are slippery)
I didn't know. I figured with all the listed LTE Bands, and the duel Sim, that I would rule the world!
Then I was waiting on AT&T to send me a sim card, they sent me a bad one, so by the time I found out that only a giant "H" would show were "LTE" should be its was too late.
I'm hoping once the custom firmwares gain momentum, that I'll be able to flash it into strawberry sherbert!
I do love this phone, I've already bought a couple of Moto Mods for it. I'm on my 3rd case. This is my first new phone since I bought a Moto X², 4-5 years ago.

The US Unlocked XT1710-02 has 4/64.
I own both.
Good luck!

Tell me how and from which phone and when I get home from work, I'll give it a try.
I know how to make a Nandroid of EFS, but not modem.
ETA: I just read that an EFS Nandroid contains my IMEI and other sensitive info, so I'm not comfortable sharing that.

Depending on which version of TWRP, should be one of the backup options. But perhaps we should consult someone who knows this area a bit better. Because your EFS folder has YOUR IME information, and I could end up with a vurtual clone of YOUR phone. And I'd not be happy getting numerous calls from all your lady friends. Lol.
In reading about this, I ran across the modem flash process and recall doing it, in the past.
In fastboot, with the desired firmware, the US variant, in your case,
reflash (or whatever the proper term is) the modems, with the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1*
fastboot erase modemst2*
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
Or, why not just flash the entire US firmware?
I don't know what to do about the EFS.

Those commands are part of flashing firmware, I just used them to return my old phone to Stock.
if I had the US firmware, I'd definitely give it a try. But the sources have dried up.
Do YOU think it'll work?

To know for sure, I probably need to check and compare actual hardware chips. If they are identical, then I might have a chance.

Which one do I use? What variant would be best? 02 isn't duel sim, 10 is, but is it more compatible than 09. Uhg
