Locked bootloader where to start? Not Allowed - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hi
Mine Sony Xperia S have locked bootloader with allowed status [NO] and i dont know how to change to yes.
But i wonder now wich ROM´s can i install with locked bootloader?
I have installed ROOT and i installed CWM for locked bootloader. Wich ROM to start with? Any CM version that can be used with lockd BL ?
Please help.. Thanks

Roms that i used
Hi men you remember me when i start!
First I used FlashTools, to flash .96 Firmware. I felt really well
After that i try with Leopardx 4.9 ROM. I use it 2 or 3 months because i dont like it, had too much bugs in WALKMAN. (but was fast)
Now i wanna use Carbon ROM or NatureExperia Advance.

Fast Xperia Arc Kernel

Hi All,
I have a rooted ICS Arc (4.1.B.0.431) with a locked bootloader. What is a good, fast kernel for it ? Thanks in advance.
Call me silly, but you the entire benefit of unlocking your bootloader is the ability to flash custom kernels. Therefore...locked bootloader means no custom kernel.
I'm no guru....so please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong here...

I am unable to update to FW.587 OTA. The update center downloads the update and fails to update upon reboot (get an error here). I suppose my only option due to this is to flash the official .587 kernel. If I need to flash a kernel, why not a 'better' kernel ?
Then U Flash A FTF ,
Because For ME OTA Sucks !
Don't upgrade to .587. Lags too much, I went back to .431.
Kernel-wise, unlock your bootloader then try ArcKnight 3.5.1 or SEGA Kernel V3 Army edition.

No! For Ice Bean you don't need a unlocked bootloader. You only need root. I had it also on my phone before i unloicked my bootloader and it's the best rom for locked bootloader try it

to know which kernel your using got settings--->about
if your on stock rom and you have never flashed any kernel or rom then its the stock sony kernel.
if you want to slash the rom in link just follow the instructions on OP no need to unlock your bootloader for INSTALLING Custom ROM, you need to unlock it mostly for changing to custom kernel (there maybe other exploits to bypass DRM but i dont know of them)
Yep, but for a kernelchange u need unlocked bootloader.

Came back to GB 2.3.7

Yesterday I flashed on my Xperia S GB 6.0.A.3.76 FW. after testing a lot of roms like CM9.1/CM10/KA Xperia/Stock ICS and much more ,I understood that the perfomance with GB FW is the best ever... Everything works like charm ,camera is really great ,especially with "[MOD][CAM]GBXperia S|Video 1080p >20mb Bitrate|720p >15mb Bitrate|>100% Image quality".
Gaming perfomance is so smooth... no lags at all ,GTA VC works and it really great. Also Mobile Bravia Engine is a very huge advantage to me!
Waiting now for the official JB release from Sony ,till then I'm staying with GingerBread FW.
:good:
I thought bravia engine is not working to those who already unlocked bootloader even if you relocked it..yup I agree very smooth when you in gb because I try to reflashed it to recover the drm keys but im failed..music download info is not working also bravia engine..try stock based rom, try xtx7 so smooth also for me it is the best stock based rom and I modify it gx home preferences and tab&grid, all this mod and rom was created by niaboc..see attached

My BL is unlocked and I didn't relocked it. BE works well on GB FW ,but not on ICS. Also tried XTX7 ,but the perfomance was to much sluggish ,games worked on a very low FPS.
One question: If I relock bootloader I can use PCC to update my phone without bricking it right?

I have unlocked bootloader on custom ics rom and my MBE is not working, does relocking bootloader and switching back to gingerbread will make MBE to work again ?
My MBE was working perfectly on ICS before unlocking my phone's bootloader.

It should work. I also had Locked BL with ICS .452 FW and MBE worked great... After unlocking BL ,MBE never worked for me on ICS ,even on .452 FW. Now I'm on GB and unlocked BL.
Never actually tried GB on my S, as soon as I bought it I updated to ICS. I'll give GB a shot and see how it is

Aha Bin4ry tool , i am using it for along time but it can't root this new version.
Now i am using a pre rooted rom , but i will still like to know how to root the stock one.
If the stock GI kernel dont work for you...Try the OC kernel with root...Just try it as it will give root permission or not...
Or maybe you can try deodexed stock rom rooted....If still dont work, then just wait for the dev to make new way to gain root

thank you in advance .

Hi! I can't root or flash CWM on my Ion too. Can you post the link to the ROM you're using?

[Q] Ion says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No, Can I install custom ROMs/kernels anyway?

I've been trying to buy a Sony Xperia Ion (LT28AT) for use on T-Mobile USA where the bootloader is allowed to be unlocked. So far, all the devices I've looked at all say No.
I know I can still root an LT28AT where the bootloader unlock allowed = No, but I can't install custom ROMs and kernels, right?
But from reading threads here it seems some people can still install custom ROMs and kernels where the answer is No. Can anyone please clear this up for me?
Thanks!
With a locked bootloader you can use roms that are stock-based.
With an unlocked bootloader you can use roms that need another kernel, just like miui, cm 10 etc

Does that include CyanogenMod ROMs like CM10, CM11 etc?
Also, with a locked bootloader can anyone tell me if I can install any kernels that will overclock?
THANKS!
CyanogenMod Roms need their own kernel, and to flash this kernel, you need an unlocked bootloader.
You cant flash any custom kernel on a locked bootloader.
You must unlocked bootloader before flash another kernel.

So what ROMs are stock-based that are available on XDA?
U can actually flash cm 10 on u a locked boot loader... A developer @mrgeez is working on making cm10 rom for locked bootloaders... Some roms work on locked boot loader and some don't... But ideally don't buy a cell with locked bootloader.. Causes to many problems..

What's inaccurate about it? This is an exception because they managed to get CM10 working with a stock kernel. You can't get any higher versions though because those require an appropriate kernel that isn't stock anymore. There have been a lot of kernel changes between Android 4.1 and 4.2. So on locked bootloader you can install stockbased ROMs (like eXistenZ) and one particular version of CM10. Impossible to flash a custom kernel.
Unlocking the bootloader also has downsides though. Beyond Android 4.0, the Mobile Bravia Engine stops working on an unlocked bootloader. Without that, the colours are a bit more washed out, and the screen already isn't the most vibrant around (the Xperia S screen anyway, but the Xperia Ion screen isn't that different).

So really a locked bootloader means I can't install any kernels, And I can only install ROMs compatible with my existing stock kernel.
