I have an S2 and an S-Advance. I use the same charger for both. I assume the chargers for all Samsung phones are the same. I know the wall charger for phones has a slightly higher voltage and amp specification than the phone chargers. But since, the phone charger's spec is lower, will it work on for the tablet. I hate carrying around too many cables and chargers when I travel.
Yes it will work but it will charge really slow.

That's okay. At least it will work. Thanks.

Hi,
I have some chargers at home and they all have different Amperes in their specs (see title).
Nexus comes with 1.0A wall charger.
Is it safe to use lower or higher ampere chargers?
For instance I have a 2.0A car charger which I bought for my iPad2:
Not sure if it's safe to use it.
Thanks!
Don't use anything over 5V/1A as it might fry your device. <1A should be no problem, <0.5A will be quite ineffective.

Thanks!
Then I need a new 1A car charger. That's not very good as I will need to have two chargers in the car (1A and 2A) because 1A is ineffective for iPad2.
From what I've read, the rated Amp doesn't matter. A 2A will work fine, but Nexus can only draw up to 1A no matter what.

If the Nexus handles it the right way .. yes. Until Samsung or Google tell me it's ok, I won't try it with my device, though.
FWIW, Apple says that it's okay to use he 2A iPad charger for its iPhone.

I just lost my USB wall charger and realized my spares don't charge as fast as my previous one...
My previous charger had my phone at +700ma while in sleep, two of my spares can do 400 and one can only do 200!
One time I used a car charger that had me at +900ma in sleep so I would like to try and find a new wall charger that can get me +900.
BTW all the chargers I have used have said they are 5v 1000ma, so clearly I can't just go by the specs they list- I need a first hand experience of a quality charger.
So I open it to the forums. Anyone here have experience of a particularly strong USB wall charger?
I got a good Motorola one on Amazon for pretty cheap and it's been going strong for a while.

Well, you do need one that's 1000mAh.
You just need one from a reliable manufacturer that's not mis-labelled crap.
I'd just look for a quality brand. I got lucky with one for $1.50 on eBay but the seller isn't selling them any more.
Hm so I guess OEM or genuine name brands should reliably be up to their specs, then? Well, I guess I'm going to shop around for one that maybe says 1500ma or more because I believe my phone can take more than a 1A charger can give it, and it probably won't disappoint
Samsung note II have a battery of 3,100mAh, the charger is 2000mA(2A). but my i can use the same charger for my S2. so i guess that the amphere doesn't really matter. just that the higher the amphere of the charger, the faster it charge. But you sure need a higher amphere charger for bigger battery. Hope this help.

I've read that smartphones (at least android phones) have controlled charging circuits that will only allow for as much amperage as they are set to allow. So if you connect a 2000mA charger to the phone but it's limited to 1000mA then it will only draw 1000mA. However as I have noticed just because a charger says it can output 1000mA doesn't mean that it can. I have tried 4 different 1000mA chargers each with pretty different outputs- and if they don't output as much as your phone will take it WILL charge slower. The point of this thread was to gather information on which chargers are reliably fast and ideally economical ones (there's enough OEM chargers I can find for 10x the price of off-brand ones that would hopefully do the job right).
For some reason my new nexus 7 only works with the oem charger not my Galaxy S4 charger or other chargers. Anyone else have these issues?

Make sure it's the correct voltage and amperage. The oem charger spits out something like 1.3A. A lot of usb phone chargers output less than 1a

my S4 charger works
S2 charger works also.
As does the S3 and N7 Gen1.
So long as it's 1A or greater it'll work at about the same charge rate (1A = slower, and anything over 1.35A won't charge much faster).
I invested in this a while back...best charger I own....

I tried it on my Anker portable battery and it charged fine

It didn't work on a charger I had that had a "special" cable that only provided power and ground. When I used a normal USB cable, it worked fine, so it apparently wan't to see something more than just an open connection on the data lines before it will charge.
Its worked on any charger I threw at it including the iPad charger with a HTC cable. Wireless charging also works great with the Nokia one.

Anyone tried using the Apple 12W 2.4 apm charger?
Is it ok to use more powerful charger than the one it ships with?
More capacity charger won't be a "problem" as the device determines how much power to pull. Lesser capacity charges can sometimes overheat if not designed well.
Often devices capable of charging faster will only go into that mode if they detect the charger is capable of doing so. Since the way they determine this is not standardized, sometime high capacity charger charge slowly. This could be caused by something on the charger side, or even the cable being used.
Worse case of using a higher capacity charger is it won't charge at all, but that is pretty rare. Often it will charge, either at a slow or fast rate.
Every charger I use, breaks when I'm using my phone and charging.
So, is there any chargers that you guys recommend?

I personally use a 4 port Antec charger. Works quite well for charging everything I have.
i like the Antec too.
Because the Samsung wall Charger is broken I buyed a new one from Blackberry: http://www.amazon.de/BlackBerry-Pla...94529&sr=8-1&keywords=blackberry+ladegerät+2A
And now I'm verry happy with this one! I use it for all mobile phones with micro USB which we have @home
Ive been using all the micro usb chargers ive had since the days of my palm pixi, and all phone in between. Never have had any bad luck with any of them.

I've never had a wall charger break on me. I use older Samsung, LG and Blackberry micro-usb wall chargers without any issues. I actually only use the stock charger that came with the S3 as the micro-usb cable for my pc since I heard it's best to use the stock cable whenever you use Odin and I figure I may as well use it for phone to pc data transfers as well..
Did you guys ever tryed wireless charging?
Is this as good as a wall charger?
Well I did not even pick out wall charger from the box.
I have docking station near computer + audio docking station in bedroom and my phone is always charged when I need it.

Is this charger able to charge tablets. As far as I know, some tablets needs 12V output to be charged. For example Asus Transformer prime.
I got this one some time ago for my car. It's a kit with a wall and a car charger with 2 usb outlets from energizer. It does say it's for samsungs but this has charged just about anything (iphones, ipads, other phones, etc) that also had broken chargers, has never let me down for a few years now.
Both output 5V on 1A.
Haven't found a pic from the wall one, only the car charger.

This charger is strictly 5V. But it does have 2A outputs for more normal tablets.

I personally find wireless is slightly slower than wired, but it lets me keep my lifeproof case all sealed up all the time rather than wearing tjr seal, so it's perfectly worth the extra waiting.

using chargers with a higher amperage may not necessarily affect the battery immensely
however negative effects may be noticed over longer periods of time (battery swelling, accelerated loss of charge)

I would love to consider wireless charging but I'm still searching on what options are available. For now I switch between my original samsung charger and the Blackberry one. I hate the Samsung one because it slips out at any slight movement.
I have few other 2A+ USB power supply (Kensington, Anker, Samsung, Apple) and all work 100%.
What do you use?
The stock one, the extra nexus charger sold on Google play (the square one) and a nexus orb. All work well. I tried the nexus 5 glass plate, but the G3 slides off of it too easily. Ironically, the orb, which did not work well with the N4 because the N4 slid off of it, works well with the G3... If you couldn't tell, I've had a few nexus devices.

Weird my nexus orb slow charges my G3 so I don't use it.
I have some anker and Samsung 2a chargers that charge my G3 super SLOW. Idk what I've tried lots of cables too. The only ones that seem charge my G3 fast are the stock LG cables.

After few years of using experience, some USB cables, especially longer than 2 meters, have higher electrical resistance which cuts down transferring voltage.
I must disagree . I order3d a quality 10 ft cable and it did not affect charge time. Buy a good cable and a good charger and you will be set.
AWESOME G3
The cable does have to do with the charge speed as well. I've tested many cables with my Note 3 and the app Galaxy Charging Current. I've noticed cheap cables do not allow high speed charging.
All the cables I own are high quality cables that charge my Note 3 and S4 at 1800mah. I do not understand why the lg charges so slow with them.
Nexus ONE
I use a Ps vita charger and it charges extremely fast compared to all other stock chargers I've ever had for any android phone. It's so fast that I am concerned if this is healthy for my battery or phone. I checked the specs and both charger adaptor and it is exactly alike. If you guys arnt familiar play station vita chargers have a big adaptor similar to an xbox power cord but on a smaller scale. Anybody willing to give any insight. If this charge is safe to be used with android phone it could easily be the greatest corded charger by far
