[Q] Why do I have to unlock the bootloader to root my Play?

I didnt unlock the bootloader of my last phone and I rooted it and flashed EVERY rom.
I want to flash rims and stuff but I got to unlocked the bootloader of my new and I don't want to.
If my last phone's bootloader was locked p, why can't the Play stay locked?
You don't need an unlocked bootloader to root (for most roms). You do need an unlocked bootloader to flash to the boot partition, seeing as the PLAY has no dedicated recovery partition. As such, no roms that require a different kernel will work on a locked bootloader

Your bootloader did relock, the yes is telling you that your bootloader CAN be unlocked, this is normal. As for the nandroid error, it failed because you cannot rewrite the boot image after you have relocked. This is fixable though don't worry, just flash stock firmware using flashtool
How do i know
How do i know is my bootloader is locked or unlocked coz member in here said like this Bootloader unlock allowed - Yes << this means that your Bootloader is Locked
Bootloader Unlocked - Yes << this means that your bootloader is unlocked.
So base on it mean my bootloader is still unlocked, But u said is locked? so can some one tell me how to double cross check my bootloader is locked or unlock

Xyge my phone posisiton is stuck on Sony logo and i'm will flash the official rom using flashtool so it's mean my kernel will be stock one. So should i try to flash again the kernel or try other thing?
you cant update your phone to pc companion when your phone is unlocked.
Sorry, I don't understand what it is you want to accomplish here. Do you want to just fix your phone and re-lock your bootloader?
I just want to relock my bootloader

After i'm relock i just want to know how to make sure my phone is locked or not.

Open flashtool and connect your phone in flash mode. On the screen look for "bootloader status:" or somethings similar. If your bootloader is locked it will say ROOTABLE or if your bootloader is unlocked it will say ROOTED.
If your bootloader is unlocked you cannot update from Sony PC direct and if you phone is locked Sony will allow you to update the phone

Actually thats not right. If you relocked the bootloader it will go back to Bootloader unlocked allowed: Yes and not stay at Bootloader Unlocked: Yes
When you try flashing that bootloader relock in flashtool what happens? I have used it many times with my LT26i with no issues. Can you past the log from flashtool when you try to flash it?

[Q] bootloader unlock = yes and bootloader unlock allowed = yes are same?

so it is the same things or bootloader unlock = yes means your BL is unlocked.
and bootloader unlock allowed = yes mean you can unlock your bootloader.
im confused and i tried to unlock my bootloader, all data get wiped but i don't know whether its unlocked or not?
in service menu bootloader status show bootloader unlock = yes.
i also checked on my friends xperia ray, on his mobile it showing bootloader unlock allowed = yes.
It's pretty literal, except there's a bit of wrong grammar...
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes - This means the bootloader is not unlocked but you are allowed to unlock the bootloader.
Bootloader unlock: Yes - This means the bootloader is unlocked.
Bootloader unlock allowed: No - This means the bootloader is not unlocked and you cannot unlock the bootloader.

and can i install CM11 with you cwm recovery? - No! For CM flash the boot.img from the CM Zip.(boot.img is the CM kernel + CWM recovery)
then how can i extract boot image- Download boot image, start Flashtool, click on the flashlight and select Fastbootmod.Shutdown your phone, press and hold Vol+ key and connect usb cable to your phone(led light will turn blue light). Now from flashtool chose "Select kernel to flash" and flash boot.img fille who you want.
three is a YouTube video of the whole process in the original thread

fastboot relock, locks device

Hello Guys,
i have a redmi 5a and i made a rollback on rom from 10 to 9.
i had to unlock the bootloader and install previous verson of miui.
i could done that succesfully.
but i also installed twrp and root.
now i want to relock bootloader but when i do it via adb
not just the bootloader locks but the whole device too
and the phone does not start.
then i go back to fastboot and unlock the device with miflash unlock
and it works again but the bootloader is still open
what did i do wrong?
It's possible to relocked your device after rooting but relock the bootloader means locking the mod of your device, you'll lose your root. And again, if you need to root your device, you need to open the bootloader.
U cant relock the bootloader with custom recovery coz phone it doesnt start and maybe hard brick.always relock bootloader with stock recovery.also consider relocking, because u maybe cant unlock again until unofficial way found
