Device will not boot to recovery - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently I have my GPE running the following:
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: 1.14.21331931.LA02_2G_20.30A.4145.01L
Kernel version: 3.4.0-SkyDragon-V2.0.1-ga7f5909-dirty
[email protected] #11
Build number: SkyDragon GPE V3.0.1
I was trying to install the Viper Sense ROM (which I now believe should not have been done seeing as it is a GPE device) and in the process of setting it up went to change the recovery from TWRP to change it to PhilZ Touch as the ROM was trying to install. The ROM refused to install. Upon reboot and then trying to go back into recovery I discovered that my phone would say "Booting to recovery..." and then after about 20-30 seconds boot the device normally and bypass the recovery screen. Can anyone tell me what I can do to restore recovery to my phone? Let me know if there is any more info needed. The bootloader is unlocked and has S-OFF. Tried this about a month and a half ago and have not had the time or patience to try and figure this out more. Thanks

Try :
Fastboot ease cache
From the bootloader and enter the recovery again.

No change after "Fastboot erase cache" when I reboot and try boot it again in recovery. Just says, "Recovery loading..." still and after 30 seconds boots normally.

Ok. I had tried doing that before, but this time I ran it through fastboot and it managed to go through. The TWRP Manager app. GOO Manager and about 2 or 3 other programs failed to do it. Glad it managed to work this time

[Solved] Can't boot recovery

As the title suggests, I can't boot into recovery.
When i choose reboot into recovery, it shows the htc logo for a while then flashes black, I think i sww the CWM background for a moment, then restarts back to the htc logo and then the rom boot animation.
Same thing happens when i try to boot into recovery from hboot.
hBoot version 1.36.
kernel: 3.6.7-TripNDroid_pro_series-010

this ROM
Installed it through CWM and most things seem to work fine except for the stated problem.
I can still boot and use the phone but not being able to boot into recovery is making me very uncomfortable.
According to google, it might be because I have fastboot enabled but I can't find the option to disable it anywhere.
I tried reflashing CWM with the version found here but i still can't boot into CWM.

Flash Custom Recovery but Recovery is still Stock

So, I have the X9046 variant, and I've tried to use the TWRP recovery here.
I went into fastboot, did fastboot flash recovery <recoverynamehere>.img, with no errors. But, when I reboot into recovery it goes into the stock recovery.
I even did fastboot boot <recoverynamehere>.img, and it would just be stuck in fastboot, until I forced a reboot.
Any ideas?

What are your build ?
stock or custom rom ?
Did you try to unlock bootloader ?

If you're running ColorOS, there might be a script that's part of ColorOS that restores the stock recovery. Not sure. (It's a common thing to see in most OEM firmware releases)

[Q] My HTC one X is stuck in a bootloop....help needed

G'day guys,
I tried to install the CM 11 Rom on my phone (HTC One X 2012 international model), i unlocked the bootloader on the Htcdev site, rooted the phone successfully,
then i rebooted in recovery using ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.4.0, made a back-up rom then wipe data/factory reset and installed CM 11 rom (cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-endeavoru.zip) and
it came up with Status 7 error and install aborted.....and now it's stuck in a boot loop, when i reboot it boots back into the Clockwork Mod recovery
I tried turning it off and restarting, i've ran the battery down but it still reboots in cwm recovery...
Is there anyway to fix this or have i stuffed my phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Too old recovery you must to use TWRP6.0.1 or higer to be able to install CM11 becouse is KitKat based rom read the OP in CM11 thread and download correct TWRP or CWM. Try with this CWM6.0.4.8
Thanks, I downloaded the CWM 6.0.4.8 like you said, now i have to try and get it out of the boot loop, I've tried about 6 different sites and their methods to fix it but none of them have worked, its still stuck in recovery mode.
My phone doesnt even register when i plug it into my pc either.
Is there any advice you can give to help with this?

Tried to flash boot.img, pressed enter and it stayed on "waiting on device".
Got into bootloader on phone and even tried a factory reset and got nowhere.
Everytime i selected an option in bootloader ie. fastboot, recovery, it just reboots into recovery.

Issues with flashing TWRP on S-Off GPE M8

Every time i flash the latest TWRP for the HTC One M8 GPE on the newest update 6.0.1 June security update, when flashed in fastboot, once it completes, it will automatically boot into twrp, i select the option to allow system modifications, and when i reboot into system it boots just fine, but when booting back into the bootloader, and into TWRP I'm greeted with this screen.
any help would be appreciated, i tried searching the forum, but had no luck finding anyone else with this issue
Because you use command
fastboot boot NameOfTWRP.img
To correctly install TWRP, use command
fastboot flash recovery NameOfTWRP.img

What version number SuperSU are you using exactly? A lot of times, folks use what they think is the "latest", but when asked what version number, we find out its not even close to current (which has the common result of bootloop).

Z2 can't boot into recovery.

Hey guys. So here's the thing. I unlocked the zuk's z2 bootloader using the standard method (fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash unlock unlock_bootloader.img, with the img they sent me via email, and then fastboot -i 0x2b4c oem unlock-go), and then I went to flash the TWRP recovery. I downloaded the recovery image from the official twrp website and proceeded to flash it with "fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash recovery twrp.img". The flashing was successful. But before restarting the device, I chose the option to boot into recovery, so that the original recovery wouldn't overwrite TWRP. However, the phone does not boot into the recovery, ever. It "shuts down", tries to boot into recovery, and without showing anything on the screen simply restarts to the normal system. Even flashing a stock ROM in the phone with MiFlash (relocking the bootloader) and trying to boot into the stock recovery does not work.
And, the only method to boot into any recovery that works is to use "fastboot -i 0x2b4c boot recovery.img". But as we know this isn't permanent.
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text, I wanted to make sure what I said was clear Please help guys, what should I do??

Why not flash twrp as an image file while in non permanent twrp? And while you're there flash supersu too.

I did manage to flash a custom ROM, GApps and Magisk with the temporary TWRP and everything worked. But I just flashed the TWRP image as you said and the flash was successful, but the phone still doesn't boot into recovery
WTF is going on?? Its kinda like the image is being flashed correctly, but the phone fails to access the recovery partition to boot it... Halp!
Edit: Flashing via flashify also didn't work...

As that window on boot shows that in 5 sec. to push anything, choose from that window Boot to bootloader, from there using volume buttons choose boot to recovery, it will reboot, wait those 5 secs and immediately after that window gone keep pushing both volume buttons and it should boot your recovery - it's the same for me and idk why
