[Q] Hard bricked my HTC One V - Please help - HTC One V

My phone was working perfectly fine till one evening when I got an OTA update notification which was related to whatsapp bux fix 13 mb in size. I choose to install the update and after downloading the update and restarting it never turned on to normal menu. It keeps stuck on htc one/beats audio screen, no hard reset working on hardware button configuration, not even able to enter fast boot mode at all. It just keeps on.
my HTC One V is officially hard bricked declared both by SVC and friendly neighbourhood mobile repair guy. They suggest motherboard replacement which is not worth doing for a two year old phone. The phone loops through on/off cycle and keeps stuck at HTC/Beats audio start screen. So now I have the most expensive paper weight in my house.
Any possibilities? I am wondering how an OTA update can hard brick my phone?

Wrong section. You should post this on 'Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting' section.

Your neighbourhood mobile repair guy is stupid. OTA can't brick ur phone. If you'd to unbrick it:
Plug your phone to AC Adapter
Now try to go into fastboot then recovery and factory reset

More details required

First of:Your phone is not,I repeat NOT "HARD" Bricked. Hard brick would be if it does not give any sign of life,I mean any at all.If the phone led even works it means it's not hard bricked trust me,
I do not know what happened to your phone but you can try to repair it your self by doing the following:
1.Hold your power button+volume down pressed at the same time until your phone boots into bootloader, then choose recovery and enter it.
2.Now do the factory reset and reboot.
3.That's it.
Now what I wrote is the most simple soiution, ofc it might not work depends on what is wrong with your phone, but from what you've described it seems that nothing more serious could happen to it.

Guys i own a htc desire 816 now. I still have my bricked htc one v and today i was again try to fix the issue but the screen is still stuck at htc logo and the biggest problem is that i am not able to get the phone into fastboot mode by pressing volume down + power button.
Any help or i should throw away the phone:/

Update - i was fiddling with the buttons combo and luckily i was able to get into fastboot menu. I selected the factory reset option and the phone restarted.
Now after htc logo screen it fades into a black screen with nothing on it except the back lit of lcd.
I am again trying to get into fastboot but it is not going into fastboot mode.
Any further pointers?

[Q] Bricked Desire HD

I have a Desire HD, rooted with Visionary, ENG S-OFF, Radio S-OFF, Super-CID and SimUnlock'd, I installed ClockworkMod using ROM Manager and chose to boot into recovery, the phone now doesn't boot whatsoever, when turning on it vibrates 3 times and the amber LED flashes continuously about every second. If I hold down and press power, the phone vibrates 5 times and a green LED flashes instead, but nothing on the screen. Back and Power does the same as turning it on normally. When plugged into USB, my computer searches for the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM driver which it cannot find...
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the phone into recovery mode, fastboot mode, or any other mode where I can flash a RUU?
Thanks, Jordan.
:::im not sure about this, and whatever happens, im not responsible, this is entirely your decision:::
But if i was in your shoes, given that it doesnt want to open at all but just flashes (the LED), ... , i would take the battery out and try again.
But if this keeps happening, then you should sent it to HTC.
Take your battery out, then try and flash into recovery mode
If you get into recovery mode then either install a new Rom or if you backup your Rom restore it
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Taking the battery out and putting it back in does nothing, left the battery out for hours, nothing. No way to get into recovery...
If u flashed a 2.x.x.x version of CWM u could try use the bug thats now corrected in 3.x versions.
By taking the battery out then plugging USB in to charge and replace the battery. that used to start my DHD into recovery. if u flashed the 3.x.x..x CWM it wont have that bug.
^it's actually a feature which was removed...^

As long as your DHD vibrates, shows LED.. it is not bricked if I am not wrong. Wait for some senior member to reply your question. You might need to erase recovery via fast boot (just a thought, I am not sure).

Which of course works only if you can get into fastboot.
@OP: If you connect your phone to the computer and turn it on, does the computer recognise it?
as he said, windows searches for "Qualcomm xxx"-drivers.
i had a similar issue with my nearly-bricked hd2 some months ago.
but you know: hd2 and dhd aren't really the same when compared on bootloader level

Can't get into fastboot mode because pressing down and power just makes the phone vibrate 5 times and show a green LED. The phone failed to boot after installing CWM, which was v3 anyway, but obviously isn't present if it fails to boot into recovery in any form. I sent the phone away with Vodafone to get repaired under warranty, but they sent it back today saying it's water damaged and they won't go any further into fixing it. My house mate dropped the phone in the bath once, it worked fine afterwards, no problems whatsoever until now. It's obviously not water damage that caused this, but vodafone refuses to take a look... Am I gonna have to resort to a third party repair center? or replace my friends damn expensive phone... Any ideas?

does your phone carrier offer extended warranty? as in full coverage?... basically i did this once.. my gf got pissed (as they do).. and basically tossed her phone towards me lol missed completely.. bounced off a wall, then off a metal heater, and then the floor.. thus .. screen completely broken.
We went onto our carriers website, added a 3 dollar a month full coverage warranty (12 month commitment). and after 2 weeks sent it in .. fully repaired 2 week later ...

[Q] automatic and continuous reboot

First off: I have an AT&T HTC one X
I am an almost total noob when it comes to this stuff so please bear with me here.
I had my roommate put cyanogenmod onto my phone when I got it and all was well until I moved to Asia and got an unlock code from AT&T to be able to use it over here. The unlock code wouldn't work and I found some stuff online saying that it might be a problem with cyanogenmod. I followed a youtube instruction guide on how to get rid of the mod and everything was going fine until right at the end when I got a windows notification that the RUU had stopped working. I figured I would just do it again, but the actual program itself said it was successful. As I waited for it to reboot and load the roms, it started a loop. The loop is the white screen with the green htc letters for a few seconds and then it goes to a black screen with a phone logo in the middle. Around the phone logo is what looks like a recycling symbol except circular instead of triangular and on the screen portion of the phone logo there is an arrow facing down. I assume this is just telling me I need to actually download some software on the phone, but it won't connect via USB and every time it starts up it says that the drivers were not successfully installed and htc sync manager doesn't recognize that a device is even connected. The loop continued and i tried to boot it back into the fastloader which did nothing. I held down the buttons as if to boot it into fastloader, but this time for about 15 seconds which took me to a battery charging screen and finally ended the loop. I assume(hope) that since it's actually responding to input from the buttons that it's not irreversibly bricked. Is there any way I can get some version of android back on this thing? Any help would be much appreciated
Wrong forum buddy, you belong in the HTC ONE XL forum. Don't use anything from here because you risk a serious brick !

[Q] HTC one X boot issue

Hello,
In the last few months i have had some minor issues with my phone. In May or in June I have tried to root my phone. It was my first device I wanted to root, so I decided to use Kingo Android root. It didn't work. I installed HTC universal toolkit ( or how was it called ) from XDA forums to my computer. With its help I unlocked the bootloader, installed the TWRP and rooted the phone with Kingo. Everything worked OK, the only problem was that TWRP didn't respond to touch input. I didn't solve it at the time because it wasn't urgent. A month ago I installed few root apps from Google Play, but I didnt experience any issues. Today I was browsing the internet and suddenly I saw a HTC logo and the screen came grey. I waited for a minute and then force turned the phone off. It didn't want to start again. I booted into bootloader. It showed few errors, but was successful to boot. I wanted to open recovery, but it opened the bootloader menu again. Factory reset option didn't work too. I turned the phone off and then turned it on again, but it was stuck in infinite startup loop. Also the HTC logo was broken, there were strange colourful squares around it.
How can I repair my phone? I know that it isn't totally bricked, but this looks really bad. At least I would like to save my data and I will buy a new phone.
Thank You very much for Your help.
Dominik
P. S.: Sorry if I made any mistakes, but I am not a native speaker.
So today it doesn't even turn on!!!! I have tried everything, I was holding power and volume down button for almost two minutes, did the same with my mobile connected to the charger and to the computer, but nothing :crying: .
CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?????

Probably bricked, don't know what to do

Hey all,
So like about a year ago I installed twrp and rooted my one m8s and couldn't care less to update anything but everything was working fine.
Recently I bought a new phone so today I thought lets wipe the device and factory reset it. Well thats where it went wrong.
After the reset it tried to boot but was just stuck on the white screen with the HTC logo.
I then held the power + vol up, which triggered something and showed an other logo for a second then just going dark, but the device is still on and backlit.
I cant get out of this for some reason neither will the device turn off. When i connect it to my pc it gets recognized but I cant get into storage.
Also adb and fastboot won't see the device and the htc_fastboot.exe I got from here throws an adbwinapi.dll missing error.
I am really stuck on what to do and i was hoping maybe someone could help me out here?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Bart
EDIT: got the phone to turn off when the battery died and was able to boot into fastboot from there, lets see where this gets me.
EDIT #2: Welp I fixed it I suppose. If someone please could remove this thread since I can't

US Unlocked stuck in bootloop. Unable to boot into recovery/download.

Okay, I have never had to create a thread for this kind of thing. I have always been able to solve these issues. This time around, I have ran out of ideas. I have been searching and searching Google, Xda and any other Android forum. I have seen multiple threads with this problem, some cases exactly like mine. Not one thread with this problem ends with a solution, they're all just dead ends. My HTC 10 started doing this a couple days ago after a notification popped up saying that I was using an incompatible charger after using a Samsung USB cable on a Quickcharge 3.0 car charger. 30 minutes later, my capacitive touch buttons were not responding. So, I just figured that I would reboot and everything would be fine. Now, my phone is stuck in a bootloop with no signs of recovery. The only thing it will boot into is the white bootloader screen. Trying to boot into recovery or download just throws it back into a bootloop. When its powered off and I put it on a charger, the charging animation will show for about 15 seconds then, back into a bootloop. Trying to use a RUU.exe doesnt work, just a message shows up saying that my phone is below 30% charge. The device will show up in fastboot devices when its in the bootloader but, its useless. Trying to flash anything in fastboot fails or does nothing. The bootloader doesnt recognize 2PS6IMG.zip in the sd card. I really need my phone for work and cant afford to wait for HTC to repair it, especially since Hurricane Harvey hit their repair center in Houston. I've taken out the Sd Card and sim to see that would help but nothing. I let it die completely and still nothing.
My bootloader screen shows
Status: Official
***Unlocked***
***S-OFF***
I have been running Viper 3.5.0 for awhile.
This is my last option to see if anyone else has got through this problem without sending it off.
Thank you

Hold down the power button and vol down until your phone reboots. It'll take 20 seconds or so, and the capacitive button lights should flash until it reboots.
That should take you to download mode where the RUU.zip on your SD can be flashed.
If that doesn't work, try power + vol up + vol down, then switching to power + vol down when the screen goes black. I think I remember having to do that once when I first got the 10 for a different problem, but it could have been a different device
