[Q] restore m8 GPE to stock - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my google play edition htc one m8 and flashed cm11 m9 to it a few days ago. I'm having a hard time finding instructions on how to restore this particular edition to full stock. If someone could help me find instructions or an ruu to flash I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

I own a m8 google play edition. I would like to restore it to the original google play edition software. The thread you linked is to take a carrier m8 back to a sense based ruu. In other words that thread, much like your post, is completely useless to me.

The following thread is meant to convert to GPE, so not sure if the RUU would also return you to stock GPE. But my guess, it should work.

My suggestion would be search the thread to see if its been discussed, and if not, ask it yourself in that thread.

Can't flash roms into M8!!!

Hi all, while trying to update my att htc one m8 to 4.4.3 I messed it up and now it won't take any roms!!! I did a RUU and changed the cid to supercid. The only rom I was able to flash after trying all night w cyanogenmod 11. I'm glad I was able to do this but I need to install gpe or sense6 roms. I don't know what else to do! I would really appreciate someone helping me resolve this. I wanted to convert it to a developer edition by changing the cid and mid but everything failed. I'm doing the rooting on Mac OS X.
Please Help. How do I get it back to normal?
TIA

Follow the guide in the GPe RUU thread to go back to a Sense ROM (it's in post #2)

But my phone originally a sense version not a gpe, I think I messed it up even further because now I can only stay in fastboot mode, it kicks me out of recovery!!!

When are we getting a Dev Edition RUU!?

Phone has been out a while now but still no developer edition RUU. I'm interested in converting by M8 (which is an AT&T variant previously converted to a GPE) to a developer edition version but don't want to do so until the RUU is released. Does anyone know HTC's typical time frame for releasing it? Is there any other fairly simple way to make this conversion from GPE to Developer Edition? Thanks.
Lol I need help with this too. I have SIM Unlocked BS_US002 and converted to GPE. The Dev RUU would be the closest to my phone and there is no 1540 firmwares posted so I can't get back to Sense.

There are a bunch of guides on this. All you have to do is flash the ota firmware, change mid/cid, and put developer nandroid and recovery on your phone. Obviously check/change mid/cid before flashing the firmware.zip.

That's just the OTA update. How is a 110MB update going to wipe GPE and repartition the Device, and install Sense.

Ive also gone back and forth with the GPE and SenseUI based setups. I would much rather have an RUU to re partition my device but the guide worked fairly well. I have never waitied this long for an RUU for an HTC device tho.

Right. Just seems a little strange that HTC hasn't released the official RUU yet.

GPE M8 From Play Store...Want to go to Sense...

OK guys, so I am a longtime HTC owner. I had the M8 when it came out, took a break in June, and now just picked up a GPE M8 so I could get full AT&T / T-Mobile support. As much as I like stock Android, I am missing Sense, so I would like to convert the original GPE M8 to Sense. I am S-Off and have an unlocked bootloader. Is it just a matter of following the same steps as a converted GPE M8 back to Sense? Flashing Firmware and then a ROM?
Thanks,
Y2J

[Q] HTC Developer Edition Questions

I recently converted my HTC One M8 to a developer edition and I had a few questions.
1. What is latest update out for the developer edition. (5.0.1 or 5.0.2)
2. Will I receive OTA updates?

1) 5.0.1 I believe, but I may be mistaken. It should be 5.1.0 soon.
2) If you converted properly, yes. You will get updates before most do. GPE and Dev Ed get the new goodies first.

Is you CID BS_US0001?
Did you flash the stock GPe recovery?
Did you convert with this method?
If the answers are yes, then you have converted properly.

My CID is 11111111 which I though was fine.
No, I didn't follow that tutorial but I will tell you what I did. I converted my phone to a Google Play Edition a couple months back and I wanted to go back to sense. So I changed my CID to 111111111 and my MID to the Dev ID/ATT ID (the same) and I flashed the stock ATT RUU. It worked fine so I then proceeded to convert to a developer edition by flashing the Developer Edition RUU. Now I'm here.

Sounds like the right steps to me.
But I'm not positive that superCID will allow OTAs. I'm not saying it won't, I'm saying I don't know. I think it might though.

Return to stock from VenomRom

Hi.. I've not used my M8 for some time and I'd like to put it back on a stock rom and give it to my mother-in-law. Unfortunately I can't remember how to do much with regards to rooting, fuu, roms, etc, and I'm finding the forums a bit overwhelming.
It is an ATT phone, but the CID was changed to 11111111 so I could sim-unlock it. It's currently on 4.16.401.10, and on the ViperOneM8 v 4.6.1.
We need it to remain sim-unlocked, and on the stock rom.. I've looked around a little bit and found [tutorial] How to get back on stock with TWRP Stock Nandroid Backups. I've downloaded M8_6.12.401.4_WWE_FullStock.zip - if I flash this in TWRP will it return the phone to a stock rom, and will receive OTA updates?
Thank you for any help or answers you can give me,

You can't flash it in recovery. You need to flash it in fastboot, or via SDcard/hboot.
I've given instructions to another user recently on the ViperOneM8 thread. You can see them here.

@xunholy do I need to use 0P6BIMG_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_6.12.401.4_Radio_1.29.214500021.12G_20.72.4196t.01_release_464360_signed.zip that you linked to in your instructions, or a different one for mine? I'm a bit nervous because that says HTC Europe, and mine is ATT in the US. I'm s-off, too, while the person you were helping there was s-on

If you want to keep WWE firmware, yes.
If you want to go back to AT&T firmware (and this is probably a better option for you), there is another way.
Go here (HTC's US website). Scroll down to the Manual System Update Instructions, and read them. There is an RUU download at the end of the instructions.
