hi
when open any app with various screens, (settings [apps->all->home], facebook [group->user->photo->messages], etc) and then press back button repeatedly at the end in the home screen open a app randomly
anyone occurs something like this?
14.4.A.0.108 root
sorry for my bad english
It happens to me too. From my observations it allways openes an app from the apps that I have recently openned ,but I may be wrong.
This is an Android bug which can be fixed with an Xposed module, since you're rooted you can simply install it via Xposed Installer.

PS: the proper way to "close" an app is by using the home button btw.

This is really becoming annoying! I click the Home button, then I check the set default and click Launcher Pro. For a couple of uses, the Home button automatically takes me to Launcher Pro. Then, I'll be web browsing or checking email, click Home, and the options pop-up comes up again asking which launcher i want to use. This happens over and over again. I've even tried sing HTC Sense UI and ADW, same problem. Any possible solutions?
(btw, I'm fully rooted w/ NAND unlocked and I'm running Damage Control 3.2.3 and I've tried uninstalling HTC Sense UI as well as a few other bloatware, which helped things become much more stable, unfortunately this problem still pops up. Oh, 1 more thing, launching web links seem to always ask for which browser to use also, even if I check a default, repeatedly. Could this be related?)
Did you search for the answer?
It's the qik update, uninstall it or reset your default home every time you long press the home button and choose a recently open program.
of course I searched, but I couldn't figure out how to do a boolean AND (I finally was able to find + using google and it works nicely. xda would go a long way to include a little tutorial on how to best use forum search on the advanced search page) so my search wasn't fruitful. I uninstalled Qik. It helped the problem. Thanks for the tip!
I think it happened after buying the Launcher Pro Plus home screen replacement. I have since uninstalled it but depending on the app that I'm in, when I hit the soft "home" button on the phone, the system asks me which home screen application I want to use. Sense is set as the default in the application settings so I have no clue why this happens. Anyone experience this?
If sense is set as the default and launcher pro is uninstalled it should stop prompting you to choose a default have you tried a restart or a battery pull?

When that happens again and you get the prompt check the box you want it to default to and that should set it. Make sure the check box is highlighted.

I'm sure I've pulled the battery since then but I'll try again. And yes I do put a check mark in the default box when I am prompted. Funny thing is it only happens from some applications and while I'm in certain menus in certain apps. I'll see if I can pin point when it happens but it happens enough to irritate me. Shouldn't happen at all. Maybe I'll uninstall all home screen replacements and see if that stops it. Maybe if there's no choice but Sense, it will stop. If it doesn't I dont know what to do.
Just did a few more tests, Doesn't happen from the Internet app, Market but if I load up Astro it happens if I hit the home button or if I try to back myself out of the app to the home screen with the back button. However, it seems that if I place the checkmark in the default box when I'm prompted, then it doesn't happen again for that app. Strange huh? You would think this would be global but its acting as if it's per app.
Uninstall qik.

yeah, the new qik update was my problem too.
My fix was to load the latest OTA. Weird huh?
I'm rooted so I don't have the latest ota update. I removed the latest qik update. Let's see if that helps

Install CM6. Fixed it for me.
the best way to replicate the problem for me is to launch an app, hold the home button while in the app, launch another app from the list, and then push the home button once.
The bug triggers when you use the recent application list by holding the home button.
I also noticed that HTC Sense would show up in the recent list ever since I update qik.
Sorry to say but I am on a HTC phone but this question is for someone making use of a Xperia Ion.
I do know these phones are alright, that's not the reason why I went elsewhere.
Although the ion is a good phone there is something odd with its behavior.
As far as I know now the back key in an open application closes the app and the home key pauses the app.
Paused apps are visible in the recently used apps list, there you can reactivate them and
go further where you left or you can close them by swiping them off the screen.
But this does not seems to be the case with the Ion.
Even when quitting an app with the back key the app gest in a paused state and thus visible in the recently used apps list.
I know developers can override the behavior of the back key so I tested this out with the
stock gmail and stock calendar app and they both are getting paused.
So, is this normal behavior in the Ion,
if yes how to quit an app without quitting it in the recently used apps
if no, how to solve this.
The xperia ion is on android 4.1.2 and full stock, so no problem with custom roms

Well back button should keep going back untill exit, it will not pause
But depending on the app, if you go home then it should pause, some games or heavy apps will be closed and some are designed to close when not active
Its like this on most androids
Hope this answers you question, if not ask more
EDIT: recent apps does not mean it is active, just means recent apps
System apps are never closed or often never,

Well, also tested on Samsung galaxy mini and then home button pauses, back button closes.
Long press home on Samsung shows recently used but you have a button to show open apps.
If you where going back with home key those app(s) are in the open apps list.
Htc reacts as Sony.
But what about multitasking then on android, is it possible to leave an app in a paused state?
What about open recently open apps, what about an app in this list, for me it seems the last state open from to app has been saved?
"Select Home" dialogue keeps popping up very frequently when I'm pressing the home button even though I've selected Home as default.
Anyone knows what causes this or how I can remove EasyHome?
I had the same problem when I had a widget for Smart Calendar Pro on my home screen. I've reported it to the makers of the app

I was having this issue too and the culprit was the Hotmail app... It's a bug in the Android system if any app has a language call Mata data (or something like that) it will forget your default settings of your home launcher.
I remove the Hotmail app and haven't had a problem ever since. If it wasn't for Nova launcher telling me which app was causing it, I would have probably returned my perfectly good running device.
If you don't have the Hotmail app installed, I recommend you use nova launcher and let it alert you which app is causing the issue. Uninstall that app reboot your phone and you should be good to go and then remove nova launcher if you so choose to.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I installed Nova Launcher (used it earlier but decided to give the default launcher a go for this new phone), but didn't really see where it could tell me what the culprit was.
Anyways, I managed to reproduce it pretty effectively.
Long press home button
Opens up Google Now
Short press home button
Select Home dialogue appears
I had the Google Home widget on my main home screen, removed that now.
Looks like the dialogue does not appear anymore, guess I'll know by the end of the day.

Uninstalling the app worked, thanks guys!
it appeared on mine after installing the 10j 'leaked' kdz.
could initiate the prompt as per the above steps above to long press hold to open google now then quick press home
removed it by uninstalling "Apps" application that appeared with 10j.
Shook187 u r awesome man
Thank you
Removing Netcom Apps solved the problem for me as well!
Thank you so much @shook187 and @Kentarii
Great suggestion!

I get the same thing.....had my phone rest twice. Didn't work. They sent me a new phone and not it does same thing. Love the phone except for this problem. THeir tech support sucks & all they say is send phone in with no loner for 7-9 days!! THey need to send a fix out in an update!!
Thank you so much shook187 for your suggestion. It worked for my LG G4.
1. I've installed the Nova launcher.
2. Then tried to press the home button number of times choosing the Nova Launcher.
3. Next I clicked on the Nova Launcher home screen and kept my finger until the setting wheel appeared.
4. I clicked on the setting and at the top was displayed notification ' Fix it app causing a problem'.
5. I clicked on the notification and selected uninstall.
I've had this issue before on my LG Power (Straight Talk branded LG Leon), running on Lollipop 5.0. No matter what I look for I can't find anyone who's experienced similar issues.
It just happened last night on my 5-day old Nexus. I could not open any of my folders to access apps. As soon as a touched a folder, it briefly showed the animation to open it, and it immediately closed. Whenever I selected a widget or the app drawer, they would immediately close as well. When I attempted to swipe down the notification/quick settings shade, they immediately closed themselves. Turning off the screen resulted in the screen immediately turning back on, albeit locked. I was even having trouble turning the device off because the 'Power Off' menu would disappear right after it popped up. Eventually I was able to time it right and was able to power off. Since I restarted I have not have any issues.
Any idea what gives? I'm unrooted, locked bootloader, everything 100% stock, running MM 6.0.1.
the only explanations i can come up with are:
-accidental touching the area in some way (unlikely)
-getting some substance stuck on the screen in that area (unlikely)
-a faulty touch panel (unlikely and very specific defect)
-a hickup in the software (again unlikely)
then again, if the OS (for whatever reason) thinks the home button is pressed, on default it should not only pull you back to the homescreen, but continue and send you right through to google. the conclusion of which would be, that this UI area is triggered repeatedly rather than continuously.
keep an eye out for what could have triggered it in case it occurs again.
check your settings what build exactly you are running (settings -> about phone -> build number).
ans lastly, if it happens again, you should still be able to hold your power button to hard-reboot it (no further interaction with the UI required).

Try to clean your screen also with a towel
That is extremely weird. It really sounds like a faulty digitizer, but you'd be the first... Maybe it's a rogue app, but unlikely.
Were you doing something before this starts to happen?
I haven't noticed any consistent apps or behaviors when this would occur. This most recent time, I was low on battery (10%) and I had just flipped on my data.
fyi. you could also just press and hold the power button, for 10 secs, for a reboot ( might come in handy when the screen isn't working properly).

Finally was able to capture a video. The issue occurred after I was playing around with Open Camera and it crashed. Holding down the power button didn't work when this glitch is happening.

What's the icon on the lock screen, top right in the status bar? That behavior is unusual if it's not a screen defect. Are you using any apps that monitor battery, a task killer, or maybe a security monitor app?

The icon is a picture for my user profile on the phone.
I don't use anything like that. I had Clean Master installed briefly but it's been uninstalled for a couple of days now.
so it seems like this issue pops up whenever the camera crashes. happens occasionally when using the camera shortcut (double power tap) or in an app that uses the camera.
It's got to be software IMO. It didn't happen when you went to Google Now and your Recent Apps. I'd try uninstalling the Open Camera app first. Do you have Face Unlock active by chance? After that I'd FDR...

right, that's what's confusing me. i did a factory reset last week, set up the phone as a new device. haven't installed a new camera app, just the stock google camera. the issue occurred again last night when using an app called Shopkick, which accesses the camera but crashed.
