Basically everything crashes for me whenever I need to type (and the keyboard is supposed to auto-pop up). Everything except for typing on a page in the browser or text messages. I can't connect to WiFi. I recently did a factory reset on my phone for exactly that reason and it DIDN'T help and now I'm stuck without being able to connect to my Gmail account (because everything crashes) and I can literally use my phone just for calls and texts. I tried everything there is to try, or at least everything I've read on the internet.
First off, I'm a noob when it comes to using XDA and adb shell and all that stuff, I just learned about it today and decided to try it in order to fix my phone so I ran the adb shell and everything and typed the commands from an instruction I saw on your forum, but those were the ones to clear clipboard cache on a samsung phone and thus fix the keyboard crashing problem that one of the members had. That didn't work for me, I rooted my phone before that, of course, but there is no clipboard file on the Arc S (at least from what I've seen). I tried clearing cache of the keyboard apps, disabling all kinds of stuff, resetting my phone, pulling my SD stick out (because it might be in conflict with an app that I have installed on it) and it STILL doesn't work. Please. I am desperate.

i think the problem is that your kexboard is faulty. not your ram management.
just a few questions: whats your rom?? have you root / CWM?? maybe i can post you other keyboard & we try if that works
OR:
if you can try to reflash stock ICS.ftf via flashtool. (will wipe ALL user data!!!)

That sounds as though your phone isn't actually reaching the facebook page but is being redirected somewhere else. Are you sure it's not something to do with your wifi network? Can you get to facebook OK from a laptop?
I'd expect this sort of thing if you were connected to a hotspot without having logged into the hotspot from the phone.

Can't log in with facebook app, Friendcaster etc. Can't sync my facebook contacts. So I removed the sync account, and tried to add it again (Facebook for HTC Sense) But cannot log in there either.
But m.facebook.com in browser is working fine, same on my laptop.

But the funny part is, it only affected HTC Desire.
My GF with Samsung Galaxy S, and all others that I know, dont have problems...
Found this problem on other forums too, all Desire's
And one have tried a factory reset.
Facebook was unreachable a couple of days ago. But I got a message saying that they are doing maintenance. When it came back up, all it had me do is log back in. Everything is fine until now.
I wonder if your issues has something to do with the Facebook integrated on Sense. You guys using Sense roms by any chance?

Yes, it is a Sense Rom I'm using..
I have just tried to freeze Facebook for HTC Sense via Titanium Backup, still same problem with "Facebook app"
same problem from same day... i tried few older version of fb app but none works. HTC Desire InsertCoin rom
Same here since a couple of days. It seems to be a problem on FB side, but in some way related to the software of the phone. I own a Desire with RcmixS Rom Gingerbread. I flashed it with an ICS Rom and it worked after that. Come back to Gingerbread after factory wipe and problem is there again.

Trying logically to understand why this happens only on Desire with gingerbread (since on my with ICS it was working) and looking at the error I thought it could be a problem of certificates that are not up to date, in this case may be only on a specific android distribution like the one we have on Desire... (app developer are maybe forgetting our loved phone since it's getting older) so I tried to understand how to update this certificates and I've finally found that there are some files where they are stored inside a system directory.
Here attached you can download a zip with some certificates I found. To install them you have to put the file on the SD, go into recovery mode and then simply choose to install a zip from SD card. Reboot... My FB started working again! I had tried everything before this without success... so maybe this will work for you too.
Let me know! :fingers-crossed:

I BET it's because facebook.com have automatic activated some new security settings, https, and (dont know the english word for it) safe login, where you will receive an sms the first time you log on from a new unit...
I downloaded your zip file, extracted cacerts.bks, cwcerts.zip & otacerts.zip and copied them to my system/etc/security folder, quick restart, and it's WORKING :good:
And I was receiving an sms so that i could log on.
Funny part is, that those certificates looks older than the ones I allready got, but they are a little bit bigger.
But it's working... thank you

I don't seem to have the system folder on the SD-card nor can I find anywhere else to put the files (I tried putting them in the .android_secure-folder just to try anything and restart but no progress...). Yes, having LeeDroid you should already have a cooked recovery... just power off the phone, keep pressed vol - and power... choose recovery with vol buttons and enter with power button. You should be now on you recovery (probably clockworkmod). Choose install zip from SD and select certs.zip you can find on my previous post and that you have to put on your SD. At the end reboot. You should now be able to use FB.
installed the certs and Facebook is now working. :good:

No låvisa, the folder is on the internal memory, but you can't write on it if you are not rooted. You can probably apply the file from the recovery also without root, but you need a cooked recovery. To permanently install the clockworkmod recovery, that is not the stock one and that have more option like the one to install zip, again you would need to be root. Instead I think you can (I've never do it this way, sorry...) install the clockworkmod recovery temporary without root from your stock recovery, just the time to flash my zip.
Here you can find all the available way to install the clockworkmod, look at the update.zip method:

My WiFi icon is grey and does not connect what-so-ever, even after reboot, wipe, different rom, disconnect. Data still works flawlessly though. Any suggestions? Running SlimBean 3.1 right now, CM10 when this started happening
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-nexus/191164-grey-signal-bars-wifi.html found this on google. Need to try this later.
Read that it was router-specific. Will try wifi at school tomorrow and if it works then its a problem with my home WiFi.
Edit**-
so I woke up this morning and it appeared to fix itself -_- its blue again.

So I take it you switched from CM10 to Slim... When going from one ROM to Slim like that, you have to fully wipe, including a format /system and use the full Slim gapps package, not the upgrade package....

That suggests to me that it's more of a problem with your network connection than with your device; I usually see that happen with wifi when whoever's providing it either requires a login through a web browser or just blocks the relevant services. What sort of connection are you trying to use?

I had gone as far as a factory reset, yet nothing seems to solve this issue on my Nexus 7. I don't know what else to do. I can access the internet, but not Google services....
Did you try clearing the data for Google Services Framework?
Sent from my R2-D2 unit on the far side of the moon
Solved my problem
First .. Open a file explorer on your phone
Then ...go to root directory (first) ..then Search for a folder named 'system' and open it
Then inside system there is a folder named 'etc' ..open it
Find 'hosts' file and make a copy of it and rename the copy and delete the original file ...
Hope this helped
This Happened to me too
I was getting the same issue with my tablet. Grey icon for wifi and SSL error on my Chrome browser. No internet whatsoever, started happening when i tried clearing cache files on system.
I was searching and googling for answers abt this issue with my wifi, then I finally tried fixing it myself. This was happening to my Lenovo ideatab A3000-h, then I looked on every settings I could see, to check if there are any changes on anything. I was almost about to give up, then I saw the time was incorrect. I checked the system date and time and I saw it was set to 8am 01/01/09. I then set the CORRECT DATE AND TIME (automatic setup via mobile network), then poof, everything went running again. I see my blue wifi icon now..
The other guys are correct, grey icon means that there was an error on google sync, and in my case, since the time was all messed up, the syncing part was getting confused. Grey Icon for wifi doesnt always mean 'no internet'. just means, syncing is not successful
Hey guys,
I would like to start by apoligizing if there is a thread relating to this issue, but i have searched the forums and couldn't find a solution. The problems i am having is that Google just will not sync on my phone ATT Galaxy S3. I lost all contacts, google play, and google talk. nothing is working anymore.
Recently i tried to install "freedom" on the phone to get free in app purchases. then installed localepicker. now removed the locale picker and the freedom app and i am not sure if this is what caused the problem.
I dont know alot about all this rooting and flashing and stuff like that... i rooted the phone a very simple way from this website just to get game gaurdian on the phone to mess around with games.
So if anybody could helo with my problem thta would be excellent.
Thank you very Much.

When you go in settings and add account, do you get an error? Also, do you set it to manually sync or automatic?
Did it randomly stop or it was after flashing?

Can not establish a reliable connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your Android device may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues Call Customer Servic .
Thats is the message that I keep getting. And i noticed it this morning after I deleted all that freedom/locale pocket stuff. The Internet still works, it's just it refuses to sync the Google account.

When you look at your signal, is it grey? When it is colored (blue most of the time), then it's connecting with Google, if grey, it's not.
I did a little google search (can go a long way ) and found a few solutions:
1- Just restart the phone without the SIM card, and connect to some WiFi network, so you can login to your Google Account. It will log you into the account, and then you can put the SIM card back.
2- Add YouTube app and login with gmail account
Go into Gmail App and add account if needed.
Sign into Gmail account wither username and password
Go through login process
3- Hard reset your phone. You will lose all information that is currently on your phone when you do this.
Select Settings -> Security -> Factory Data Reset
Once the phone reboots, input your google account information when the phone asks for it.

Do a backup and go back to stock. See if it works there. If not, it's a problem with your carrier, maybe even your sim card.
I just brought the H791 Nexus 5X (international version) and it's running full stock, no root or anything, with it's latest update 6.0.1 (Build MHC19J) with March security update. There are a few things that doesn't work and I wanted to know if anyone else is having this issues or know how to solve them! I already factory reseted but nothing changed.
Onedrive: I'm able to log in through the app and see all the files, but I can't open any of them. If I try to use ES file explorer to log into onedrive, the same happens.... If I try through google chrome, the onedrive page doesn't even load!
Waze: Can't use the app, internet connection error.
Flipboard: I can't login, neither using facebook, google or my own account. Therefore I can't use it because requires login.
Here maps: App starts but the map doesn't load.
Here is the imgur with all the screen shots about the problems: http://imgur.com/a/HosKe
I'm using wifi and the gps is on and at high performance... As this problems happened with a lot of famous apps and there are nothing on the internet about this kind of errors, I'm pretty sure my device is the problem.
Thank you all!

Try clearing cache and data for each app.
Do you have this issue on mobile data?

Tried a few apps here and no problems.
Maybe try a factory reset, install just those apps and see if they work.
If they do install you regular apps and see if they stop again.

I already factory reseted but i'll try again... Also, I was thinking of installing the Android N preview, maybe this solves something, what do you think?

Won't hurt to do it again with just those problem apps.
You could try but somethings might not work with it, I myself have no experience with N.

The problem was in the router... Checked with 4g after the second factory reset and everything works perfect.... Reseted the router and now everything is ok! Thank you.
same happened to me.
i went to setting-apps and found out that all permissions on waze app were off, gave location and contact permissions and it worked.
Well, I do not know when or how but Whatsapp app is broken on my device! Just not starting anymore, I only get some force crash screen of about 1 second and that's it...
I have a Note 8T with latest EEA software 12.5.4.0 MIUI 12.5, rooted with Magisk, custom recovery (OrangeFox)
Funny story but enabling dual apps for Whatsapp, basically another user, I managed to start and use the app, as a secondary app because the base app is still dead!
Now, my question is:
How do I get Whatsapp to function normally again???
Things I tried:
1. clean cache and data - no fix
2. uninstall/ install app - no fix
3. enable miui optimizations - no fix
4. fix/ repair data partition in OrangeFox recovery - no fix
Is there anything else I could try in order to fix this issue? It might be somehow related with the user part of the data partition? But why only this app is affected then?
I'm just baffled by this turn... don't know what to do anymore...

try with :
uninstall/reboot/install
if still not work
go to : Data/system/dropbox
delete everything
open wsp and send the generated crash log (from that folder)
Well, tried twice uninstall/ install procedure... Same result...
Thank for this info. I'll try.

i said uninstall/!REBOOT!/install
when you reboot, the package manager will delete the app leftover
the app crash because there is some data left from a previous version
try deleting "com.whatsapp" folder from
/data/data/
and from
/user_de/0/
also whatsapp folder on internal storage
Holly mackerel!!!
You know how many times I rebooted this device???
But, now, it worked without deleting anything except the dropbox content you mentioned earlier!
It just went smooth, install, setup, restore backup and all without a glitch!
THX A BUNCH!!!
Anyway, I would really love to know how was this possible in the first place as I did nothing specially regarding this app... and found myself in this situation of not being able to use it anymore... why only this app? Was something some update maybe that broke something?

dosn't matter how many time
what matters here is the timing (reboot after uninstall, once booted install)

this has nothing to do with this problem, it has only crash logs of apps ...
