RUU and downgrading - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey desire community, I am trying to root friends phone and I am user of HTC One X.
fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 2.29.405.14
Is this right RUU for the phone?
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release
And can I downgrade it by using one of these two?
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe

Can somebody tell me why can't I unlock it on htcdev with unlock bootloader?
I go with command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and it gives me error?

You don't need to use htcdev or downgrade
Search for 'revolutionary' method to s-off (unlock bootloader)
Then install custom recovery using fastboot commands, recommend 4EXT.
Flash superuser.zip only if you need to root the stock ROM.
Otherwise once recovery is installed you can already flash ROMs etc

Everytime I get this error http://prntscr.com/4eq0ic

here is whole dialog http://prntscr.com/4eqd7e

Solved, I uninstalled HTC sync and in fastboot erased cache. Worked like a charm. You can lock this.

I locked my boot loader with CWM installed

I am stuck....can not install the original recovery....can not run RUU....says not the correct rom update utility...
tried to reunlock bootloader and that fails now with:
has anyone a clue on how to proceed.

You need to fastboot stock recovery then run ruu

you unlock again then flash stock recovery, then relock, then RUU
not with fastboot oem unlock
but with fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
as you first did when you unlocked

Bootloader image error

Hay the im trying to got back to stock via the O2 UK RUU setup via my pc and it keeps saying bootloader error when i try and go back im currently on ARHD 9.2 with there bootloader is the a way to flash the stock bootloader or a step by step guide on how to get the bootloader back to stock???
Other than stock bootloaders do not exist.
However you must relock bootloader before running RUU.
Use this command:
Code:
fastboot OEM lock
Aand run RUU with admin priviledges.

Can't S-OFF DHD

Hi, i cant s-of HTC Desire HD, i tried this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221039
and im getting error.
I have already unlocked bootloader, and installed recovery.
The best would be downgrade, but my phone dont accept PD98IMG roms...
How i can downgrade my phone to atleast s-off it?
I have S-OFFed an HTC Desire HD on my own with this guide.
If you want to downgrade you are going to need misc_version patch (to patch your misc partition to a lower value) and you have to make a goldcard so you can flash an older RUU (in this case only radio) without signature check. Also you are going to need an uncecured kernel to execute some commands.
I think the way to go with this legacy device is to stay s on. Just a lil more work flashing ROMs. Doing boot.img via fastboot
i can try with this hboot from this tutorial, maybe then this tutorial would have to work, but how to flash this hboot? hboot_7230_Ace_2.00.2728_110907
when im trying as
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip hboot_7230_Ace_2.00.2728_110907.zip
getting error.
FAILED <remote: 99 unkown fail>
i just need early froyo kernel (boot.img) to do the s-off well. "You need usb debugging working, an HTC signed early froyo radio (in firmware.zip) and an early froyo kernel"
have someone download link to correct image?
i think i just need the correct boot.img to do this.

Just try those commands:
Code:
adb kill-server
adb reboot oem-78
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
fastboot reboot
Check the attachment. It has hboot_7230_Ace_2.00.0029_20111222.nb0 inside.
** This is the hboot I used to S-OFF a Desire HD for a friend. **
Thanks for help! i have already s-offed my dhd!
I have one more question to you, which sense rom, for HTC DHD is best?

I think ViperDHD should be a very nice rom.You could also try an Android Revolution HD rom (very closed to stock).

I'm pretty sure that unlocking your bootloader will in no way impact your S-On or S-Off.

you dont even need HTCdev to unlock if you are S-OFF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
the above commands can be run in a rooted ROM, or a custom recovery (personally I prefer custom recovery, since the "adb shell" is already "su" privileged)
in case you have neither (neither rooted ROM nor custom recovery), you can flash a custom recovery in RUU mode (that means zipping a custom recovery.img along with a properly formatted android-info.txt, and flashing it in "fastboot oem rebootRUU" mode.... similar to flashing a real RUU)

Htc M9 bootloop - no bootloader - s-on - no ruu.exe

Hello to all.
I wanted to share my experience with you.
I bought a Htc M9 in bootloop.
No bootloader and in S-on
Nothing could be installed. Cid O2___002
There is no ruu in .exe version but it was only in .zip.
Here's how I solved:
1. I downloaded a different version in .exe format.
2. I launched the ruu and I stopped on the screen where you see the version.
3. I went to the hidden folder of temporary files and replaced the rom.zip file created with the correct one for my phone.
4. completed the installation and I solved everything.
5. As soon as I turned the phone on I used "sunshine" and I unblocked S-off
I have read many posts from people who have not been able to solve this problem just because there is no ruu.exe file to use for devices with CID O2___02 01.
Any info you ask as well.
The ruu.zip files are meant to be flashed from fastboot
The ruu.exe have more just a graphic interface, it flash the ruu the same way but automatically.

I tried! But when the fastboot launches the ruu.zip the installation was not completed because the device is s-on. And the bootloader is locked.
Neither S-OFF nor an unlocked bootloader are needed for flashing RUUs. S-ON and a locked or relocked bootloader are fine, as well.
You only need S-OFF if you want to downgrade by flashing a RUU that is older than your phone's current firmware.

Yes, exactly!
this was the first time that unbrick htc m9.
I have a doubt!
Starting the device in bootloader, giving the command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" I get an error. idem when I type the command to verify the cid.
it's normal?
Yes, almost all (htc_)fastboot commands need to be executed while the phone is booted to download mode. Otherwise they fail with some kind of error or their output only contains rubbish.
