I really would like to use MIUI for my HTC Wildfire, which is why I rooted my phone in the first place. :/
It wont install / it wont boot.
Surely you must have seen the available ROMs in the Dev Zone if you were rooting only for MIUI?? MIUI being such an eye candy ROM is obviously designed only for devices which have hardware capable for it.
Haha, I looked up MIUI and thought that it was really pretty and found out it's only for rooted devices. I spent more time trying to figure out how to root my 2.2 device than even bothering to check if MIUI is suitable for Wildfire. Thank you for you reply.
Hello,
I know very well on iphone but completely newbie to Android stuffs
I would like to flash a vanilla rom on my HTC X and i also want to ensure I able to flash back my stock rom when I am bore with it.
Would be very much appreciate if anyone able to show some guide.
help
have you unlocked your bootloader and installed recovery?
No, it completely new as just a week old.
Everything still in stock except few apps installed.
You need to go to HTC Dev website and unlock your bootloader first. HTC one x will not be listed, so you will have to use "other supported models" Follow the instructions to unlock your bootloader. Remember, doing this will void your warranty. Once you've unlocked the bootloader, i will guide you installing recovery and help you flashing a ROM.
there are not currently any vanilla (AOSP) roms, except a themed one i believe.
I too am waiting for an AOSP rom (CM9 should be the one) however for sense based roms Android Revolution & Insert Coin One X are both very good roms by some awesome Devs
Hi mgf8384,
Thanks but temporary i will stick with stock.
I have a ROM by Jdroid Its version 2.5.4. Its about as Vanilla as you can get. Its pretty much like stock Ice Cream Sammich thats on the Galaxy Nexus. Much better than Sense. Hopefully this will help.
Cm9 is out for hox and its pretty good its all vanilla no sense at all ) only wifi tethering doesn't work.. do you want me to give you full instructions how to get there from stock and have a back up of stock too ?

I have an AT&T E980, rooted with cwm installed. I like the stock lg look, but I'm interested in flashing a more simpler, custimizable rom. I was wondering if there are any official, stable roms out their for the E980, I know that there is a port of CM 10.1 out there, and if that's stable enough I'll flash it. I know that this a distant possiblity since there isn't a lot of development for this phone compared to the Note 2 or the Optimus G, and if there isn't any stable roms for the E980, does anybody have any word on any rom development coming out of CyanogenMod or AOKP?
Thanks
ps, I've already bricked my phone twice, so I won't flash anything buggy, I'm not interested in getting stuck in the boot loop again.
Hii,
I am new to the xda forum and i bought the huawei ascend p6 a couple of weeks ago for the one who also did, i got some questions:
-what do you think of the software?
-can you get themes from online?
-I would like to flash a rom but on the miui or cyanogenmod websites are not yet downloads availeble i know that here is a rom on the forum but is it worth it i got a bad experience with miui my last phone sys I9000 was bricked and i dont know how it happend till this day. also i prefer CM but when will there come a rom. i think it s strange that a sys I9000 still gets updates (almost on any rom) and some newer devices don't
thanks
i think the software is, less bloathed then big brands like samsung. you can get themes online. i don't know if there will ever be an official rom from CM or MIUI this is after all not a big branded phone but all i takes is a devoted developer. there's allready a miui rom bt< but i don't know how good it is. myself i got this phone ater carrying in my S4 for repairs (and planning to sell it afterwards) but i changed my mind and will use the s4 again even tho i will keep the p6 too cuz i like it allot and will no doubt regret it if i get rid of it
Online themes work for me on B118 firmware. As for CM, it may come eventually. MIUI is already on Xiaomi.eu, but current build results in a bootloop, so we might have to wait a bit for a fully working one.
This is for people like me (Verizon/AT&T) who are concerned with the recent trend with these companies to make the bootloader harder to get into than Ft. Knox on the GS5.
I'm on an HTC One XL and have tried to catch up a little but for those coming from the G2 to the G3 are you concerned about the inablity to flash custom kernals? From what I gathered the exploit was to downgrade firmware to pre 4.4.2 in order to gain access and seeing how the G3 won't know anything other than 4.4.2 is there reason to be concerned that there won't be any rooting?
I wouldn't mind about not having immediate kernel/ROM support, all I want is root and the ability to tether!

I agree 100% I've been a Samsung guy for a while now, but the inability to even root Verizon's S5 is turning me away. Give me the ability to root, remove bloat and make subtle adjustments at my discretion and I'm happy. To be able to flash ROMs and kernels and I'm that much happier!
Same, all I want is tether!!

Mods, There is a similar thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764187 maybe merge the two? I wasn't sure which to post this in but,
Coming off 2 generations of HTC phones and leaning toward the G3, I'm wondering about updates after root. With HTC, if you rooted your phone you had to use a custom ROM, even if it was a stock custom ROM to ever get updates. If you over the air updated, you could loose root. Is that how it would work with LG? What would be the point of rooting an LG if you can't unlock the bootloader? Would you be stuck with a rooted phone that never receives any updates?

Thats how it worked with the LG Flex; if you were rooted, you have to restore to factory stock, then get the update...fortunately, you could root while on 4.2, then get the OTA update to 4.4. But there is no custom recovery and no roms for 4.4, so at this point, there is zero dev going on for that phone, except what might be going on behind the scenes..
The G3 should be more popular, so hopefully with more people working on bypassing the LG security scheme, it might not be as horrible; but we waited 6 months from release to just get root, so who knows..

here's where I am coming from..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-flex
ah i see its a little quieter in the gflex section in g2 there are loads of custom stuff i initially thought you were on a g2 my fault for not looking at your sig properly! im sure it will get much better in time the g2 was very quiet for a while untill everyone realised what a good phone it is.it takes time for workarounds and there will be problems but stick with it as the g flex is a great phone.
im on a ukd802 g2
g3 theme and icons
4.4.2 g flex rom (cloudyfa's 2.3 )
savocas latest kernel
hid3rs ui quick settings mod,exposed.
a "little" quieter?
no roms, no recovery,(for kitkat), and the phone has been out 7 months...
the dev's who have tried just cant get that phone to co operate; hopefully, since that was the "latest" LG flagship, whatever measures they used to make it impossible to mod, will NOT be used in the G3..
getting root on the LG G2 has never really been an issue. The bootloader has never been unlocked but it has been bypassed so flashing roms / kernels is not a problem. I would predict that the LG G3 will be similar. But the problem has been that most AOSP ROM's have had issues (and the AOSP camera just sucks) and while i have tried several, I kept coming back to stock G2 ROM Derivatives with xposd, hotspot hacks and nova launcher. I need a stable phone with a good camera (got two kids and my phone is main source of pics / videos) and a hacked hotspot (I am on Verizon w/unlimited data and would need to pay for tethering) more than anything.

I'm not completely sure but I think you need the bootloader to be unlocked to flash custom kernels. I could be wrong though.

Bootloader is locked, however loki bypasses the bootloader which allows for custom ROMs/kernels.

For the G2, LG patched the loki exploit for Kit Kat. Therefore, the only way to get custom recovery and custom kernels for Kit Kat on the G2 is to downgrade the bootloader to a loki-susceptible one (ie: from Jellybean). The Kit Kat bootloader has not been unlocked. This works for the G2 because it previously had a loki-susceptible bootloader.
But the G3 will never have had a bootloader that can be exploited by loki that can be downgraded to, so so far it doesn't look too good. Looks like root can be achieved, but the real question is custom recovery/kernels/etc.

They have looked at the bootloader and said it looks the same as the one in the g2 and flex .... They can probably patch it like they have
