I have Korean LG G Pro F240L
everything works alright except that it doesn't fully use it's 3g capabilities
I live in an area where 3G signal is not that stable, usually 2-4 bars, signal can drop for a few seconds every now and then, I use telstra in Australia, which use 850Mhz/2100Mhz 3G network (850 in most areas, 2100 only for extra coverage)
I set the network preference as Auto, the trouble is that most of the time the phone sticks to 2G/GPRS with small icon on the top showing "G",
and if I want to use 3g I have to go to the network setting and change it from auto to "WCDMA only", the network will change to 3g (icon on top showing 3g) with signal strength about 2-4 bars
obviously with unstable 3g signals I can't keep it "WCDMA only" all the time, so I have to change it back to auto.
once it's in auto the phone will not revert to GPRS straightaway, it will keep going with 3g for a while and then if there is a drop of 3g signal it will then change to 2g/gprs and stay that way.
is there anyway to set the phone in "3g preferred" state where 3g is utilized automaticly whenever the internet is needed? (as far as I know, no such option exists).
do you have any trouble with your 3g settings? please share, thanks
I have discovered something new
in the hidden menu-WCDMA service menu-GSM/WCDMA band, when you click on WCDMA 1900 and WCDMA 2100, it shows success, whereas when you click on WCDMA 850 it displays fail
it seems that the phone is not using the stable 850 band at all, rather it relies on the 2100 band, this explains the erratic signal strength
I did a bit more digging
the band frequency for korean providers are
SK (S) 2G (CDMA) 800, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/1800
LG U+ (L) no 2G, 3G (CDMA/EVDO)1800, 4G (LTE) 850/2100
KT (K) no 2G, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/900/1800
also
telstra 2G (GSM/EDGE) 900/1800, 2G (UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA) 850 (main 99% population) /2100 (minor), 4G (LTE) 1800
AT&T (E980) 2G(GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/1900, 3G(UMTS/HSPA) 850/1900
strange that there doesn't seem to be direct connection/conflict between telstra bands and the LG U+ bands, i.e. if my F240L is able to use GSM and WCDMA 2100, why not WCDMA 850
I believe G pro is a global phone that supports all communication standards
I am unsure about the root of the problem, is it the matter of settings (i.e. can be solved by tweaking the service menu), or the problem of incompatible radio (hence can be solved by flashing appropriate radio)
also is there anyway to tell the band frequency the phone is using? I did my search and nothing yielded, I believe there is no such solution
my question comes down to how to enable/unlock 850 band on this phone?
If you use AT&T and have a korean phone, do you have similar problem? (as shown above AT&T partly relies on 850 band as well)
also if i guess right the problem is not limited to LG G Pro, any LG Korean phone potentially will have similar issues, I tried search optimus G forum but nothing turned up.
Same problem, korean phone wrong band

I got mine yesterday and have the same problem. Is it possible to select the band? mine is the SK version and I need to work with the AT&T band, can I just flash a new radio band? How do I get to the hidden menu?
Thanks!
I have kind of same problem with my f240
i guess if the at&t stock rom could resolve those problems

I have since learned that basebands are all hardware encoded, at least for LG phones, and there is no way to enable WCDMA 850 band if it is not originally supported by the phone, flashing the radio will not change the hardware capability of the phone
The Korean LG G pro supports only
2G : 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G : 900/2100 MHz
4G, LTE: F240K - 900/1800 MHz (Band 8 & 3) F240S - 850/1800 MHz (Band 5 & 3), F240L - 850/2100 MHz (Band 5 & 1)
I have since change the network provider (who provides 3G on 2100 band), it's not ideal but it's the only solution for me
pls correct my if I am wrong
i have LU6200
inside my house 3G is suck, so i use GSM Only mode, but i only get G signal which mean GPRS i think and it is very slow. How to enable 2G/EDGE so i can get faster internet than GPRS?
Hi, I have F240k the 3G over 900 Mhz band is imposible.. I dont know if my phone is broken or I need flash with any new Kernel or something.. if any one can help to me would be very apreciate
3G over 2100Mhz is nice.

Hi I also have F240K from a week. I can't managed sim to work. Don't have any signal 2G/3G.
I tried most of the methods described here without success (flashing Telcel and Korean rom after, E988HK baseband, changing every setting in the service menu)
Which baseband do you use?
I can't use my new phone and I'm so desperate ;/
Hi, I sell my phone..really have seriously problem with the signal. I remenber that the best option was use the original rom...but anyway the signal was very bad. Sorry man.

Hi Bro,
I am facing same issue regarding Network. I am using stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 LG G PRO F240L. My Cell is not Rooted
Please tell me what did you do regarding this issue ?
Unstable/Weak phone signals
Singles on my korean LG G Pro are very unstable and after every few minutes my phone shows "Emergency calls only" with an empty signal bar and then suddenly gets full signal back with in few seconds.
I am using custom Android 4.1.2
Same time my signals on my Xperia Z phone with same network remains stable at same place.
Is it a software issues ??
If yes then how I can resolve it ?
Please need your help

Hiya, fellas,
I want to know what is the hardware difference between the LS990 and the international D855 version of the LG G3.
I live in India and I have a good offer for the G3 (LS990) I'm aware that the phone can be unlocked to use international GSM and 3G but not 4G. Apart from that are there any other differences? Can I still flash roms made for the international model, D855 onto mine (whence it comes) or must I solemnly stick to the Sprint Android Development thread? Also if there are any other problems that I could possibly encounter?
Your answers will be much appreciated and thanked.:good:
I think there are memory partition, forgot stock Rom kdz or tot files, we wait for bump'd kernel or bumping tool to do that, I installed androidnow hd which is made for D855 on vs985 Verizon it run but without incall sound, must wait more

Here are a few things you need to consider before you make that deal . This is based on my experience with the LS980 (LG G2)
1. How good is the deal ?
2. Could it be refurbished part from Sprint ?
3. Does it have a Clean ESN , IMEI ? Or is it a cracked one ? If it does not have a Clean ESN / IMEI number , please be very cautious, if you do flash a rom and something messes up a particular partition you may have a very hard time fixing the IMEI / ESN numbers (This is NOT legal if you are using a device with hacked IMEI. )
4. You Will not get SW / OTA updates directly from sprint if your IMEI is blacklisted (I think , I cannot confirm ) . Even if you do you will have to hunt for an unlock again.(until a permanent unlock is found)
5. You cannot use the default International D855 roms on the LS990 , apart from the modem there may be other slight variations, so international stock roms wont work.
6. You can use any custom rom which supports LS990.
7. Even if everything else is ok , you may not have a good user experience with calls and data , as the FW , may not change seamlessly between GSM , EDGE , CDMA (3G) these and you may find your self running into signal issues due to this .
My advise is, if the deal is a huge money saver then think of it , else buy a D855 and enjoy the freedom of OTAs. Custom Roms , 2G , 3G , 4G when needed with 100% clean IMEI.
Thats my 2 cents .
@ kryptonite, thank you for the detailed information. I'm very grateful and many thanks once again.
1. The D855 costs about $680 (USD) and this deal was priced at $475 on eBay India.
2,3. I have no idea if it is refurbished by Sprint but it's an unused item.
And for the rest, yes, you're right. I wouldn't want to go through all the trouble if I'd have problems with the basic stuff such as antenna or 3G.
I think it's better that I rather buy the 16 gigs variant which is cheaper and stay happy with it. After your informative reply and suggestion I definitely wouldn't like to have that chicken sit on my head for there is too much to compromise if I wouldn't get any updates or even flashing roms. I dn't want to have an expensive brick sitting home. You just saved my @$$. Thank you very much!
Best,
superviked.
@superviked that is a good decision. If you look at it although you save $200, if you don't have a good experience with the phone you would have wasted $475.
However there has been a rising trend of folks selling phones on ebay without clarity on the exact state. So need to ask the questions and buy from a trusted seller.
I wouldn't recommend the LS990 or any CDMA phone for use in India (Unless you use Reliance , and even here there is a lot of tweaking that need to be done to get a good user experience. )
Here is a priority list of G3 phone models that you could consider based on availability and network support.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - D855
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - D850
HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - D851
4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - D851
LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 - D855
LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - D850

1. D855 16 GB /2GB RAM ( or 32GB /3GB Ram) - As you suggested , makes most sense , for a hassle free buy and 0 head aches of all issues you may face from a NON International version.
As you can see the green is the D855, its the only version that supports 2300 Mhz band for LTE and this is the band that is available in India. No other model supports this Band including the LS990. Infact 99 % of phones in India still don't support the 2300Mhz band ,so the D855 is a good choice in terms of using LTE without any hassles in India. So even if you do get a locked version of the D855 it would be worth considering it as the benefits of a good price always help.
2. D851 , you would have to unlock this , and you may have trouble with OTAs , but it should work for 2G / 3G without any issues (In India 3G frequencies are 3G 1900/2100 ). You will however not get LTE support in India (because the modem in this model DONT support the 2300 MHz band in HW)
3. D850, you would have to unlock this , and you may have trouble with OTAs , but it should work for 2G / 3G without any issues (In India 3G frequencies are 3G 1900/2100 ). . You will however not get LTE support in India (because the modem in this model DONT support the 2300 MHz band in HW)
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - VS985, LS990
CDMA 800 / 1900 - VS985
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO - VS985
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - LS990
4G Network LTE 700 / 1700 / 2100 - VS985
LTE 850 / 1900 / 2500 - LS990

4. Don't bother about LS990 (Sprint) VS990 (Verizon), these are CDMA versions and the hassles you will go though (user experience wise in terms of seemless switching between GSM, 3G towers in India etc, although the 3G band is fully supported) are not worth the mark down in price. Infact this is one reason why these phones sell at much lower costs in India.
From a FW perspective 95 % of the firmware is common to all these G3 models , but what differentiates these are the modems and hence even if you flash a D855 Stock FW to any of the other versions , it may boot up but the modem will not function and its of course not recommended as it may also damage the modem .
I have bought the ls990 and i dont nothing about it can i know where to find some good info about how to unlock the carrier 3g and 4g in my country and can i update it to marshmallow without the need to root and one last thing how i can know if my IMEL is hacked or not pleeease help me
Hello Guys, i purchased a unlocked version of LG G4 uS991 model in US hoping that mobile will work for international bands. Per specification LTE Bands 2/4/5/12/13/17/25, CDMA 800, 1900 MHz, WCDMA 850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz, GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz* is supported and 1800MHZ is supported for any carrier in India. I only face issue with the Mobile Internet, it does not detect APN settings, or anything & am able to call, receive SMS.
I tried searching for rooting, unlock bootloader In this forum but no luck for LG g4 us911 model.
