Does anyone know how to hide the icon labels on the homescreen? I tried XGELS, but it didn't work. I'd rather stay with Touchwiz than getting a different launcher.
Assuming you're using the magazine launcher, I've recompiled it to add support for hiding icons in the app drawer. Backup the magazinelauncher.apk in /system/priv-app, and replace it with this file. Change permissions to 644 and reboot.

Well I got rid of all the Magazine stuff, but I'm not looking to hide icons in the app drawer anyway. I'm looking to hide LABELS on the home screen.

AFAIK it's not possible with the stock Touchwiz launcher. You'll have to recompile the launcher in order to achieve this.

Hello,
is there a simple way to replace all the Samsung standard icons with the Vanilla (stock) Android icons?
I really don't like many of them (e.g the ugly messaging icon).
Thanks in advance
Hmm...maybe with launcherpro you can change icons for apps you put on your homescreen. You can't do that with app drawer.
The only way seems to install a aosp-clean rom (when we'll get cyanogen I think we'll be ok) OR to install the aosp version of the apps you're interested in...guess they won't all work, but some should. Music will definitely work (I used it in some rom, and the samsung icon is really horrible), also calendar and messages I think should work...of course that would change also the application itself, not just the icon...
Download ADW Launcher, and then search for "aosp adw theme" in market and install.
Folder organizer might be useful in this case.
Although haven't tried!

I do it but that way i still don't have the AOSP drawer like the second picture that you can see here
there's a setting somewhere in ADW to activate that kind of drawer?

ok thanks, I misunderstand what somebody says in other forums.
thanks again.
Does anyone know how to entirely change the icon pictures including the ones in drawer?
thanks very much in advance.
What you mean by drawer?
you can change the one in the status bar by renaming SystemUI.apk to SydtemUI.apk.zip, then find the picture, drag out out and edit, drag it back in, then remove the .zip extension.
Beamed from my Grouper.

Get Apex or Nova launcher from the Play Store and the you can download icon packs that change everything. Or with Apex (and maybe Nova) you can manually set icons for each app. This means that you don't have to go customizing android zips and things.
You also get many other advantages using a custom launcher over stock, I highly recommend it.

I mean drawer as in the Menu where theres all the apps you have.
I know I can change the icons on home screen with customized launchers apps but how change the ones from the Menu?
The tedious and impractical way would be to extract the .apks of all the apps you wanted to change and manually change them, but I don't think any launchers out there (well, any free ones or ones I've used) that allow this feature. You're outta luck. ): I tried looking for this awhile back also, but I could never find it.
I use an app called Icon Changer from Google Play
It changes the homescreen icons and the app drawer icons I believe. Very easy to do.
Good luck!

Hi,
I'm using the original touchwiz lockscreen with the lightflare effect, but for my launcher I'm using nova launcher. For nova I can easily use a theme to change the look, but I also want to use the shortcuts on the lockscreen. These however only use the stock icons, and I would like these to match my launcher theme.
Is there ny way to use custom icons for these shourtcuts?
Thanks.

You would have to be rooted and then change the look of the actual system icon.

My phone is rooted, but I have no idea where to find the icons touch wiz is using to create the shortcuts. Perhaps someone knows the folder I have to check?
This is 4.4 KitKat Launcher without Google Now integration. Extracted from Paranoid Android AOSP 4.4 Rom. You can install as normal APK.
This Launcher will be helpful who don't want to use hotword detection and Gnow integration as they are increase battery usage so much.
Also there is no need to change LCD density for 5x5 app drawer layout.
Works great for me thanks.
Do we need to replace & install it with root explorer adding premissions, or just like normal apk?

Just like normal apk

You don't need to flash modified framework zip as Google already did for Nexus4 on 4.4.1. Just flash latest 4.4.1 OTA and install Launcher3 as normal apk. You will have translucent nav and status bar on both Lock Screen and Home screen.
Will this launcher replace original one or just be installed like nova for example?
Installed it like any other apk. transparecy is cool but icons are too big, thanx anyway.

The icons looks little blurred when the dpi is set to 180. Do we have any workaround to correct it? The icons are displayed properly with Nova, but not with Google Now Launcher and Launcher3.
Works great for me thanks.
I'm recreating the apk file with material design. I'll make a download link available if it works.

is there any progress, and can you make the latest aosp launcher with swipe to google and swipe up for app launcher
Just updated to 4.4.2, wiped, and then installed google now launcher but I'm having a weird issue. A couple of LG apps like email and weather have had their icons replaced with a bugdroid icon. Mind you, this is only when I'm using Google now launcher. When I'm using the stock one, the icons are normal. Anyone know what's up with that?

Me too - I'm on the stock rooted UK 4.4 ROM. I installed Nova Launcher & the aforementioned icons are generic. The same happens with Apex Launcher. I tried deleting the icon cache in Nova Launcher under Lab Settings but nothing happened. If I try to edit the shortcuts on the desktop the relevant app icons are blank.
The icons look fine when using the stock launcher.
On holo launcher it lets me edit the icons of items in the dock and on the home page.
Rather than choosing a different image for an item, I can also choose "default icon".
This fixes the icons, but only on the home page and in the dock, not in the app drawer.

did anybody try the stock widgets to see if they work like task manager because they used to work for 4.2.2

Not with Nova Launcher
Anyone have a theory as to why this is happening on third-party launchers?
I've emailed the Nova Launcher dev & will see if he replies
The dev wasn't able to help. Is there a way to extract the stock app icons from the ROM as image files and then we could edit the shortcuts?

In Holo launcher I can simply select the icons on the home page and change the images.
When changing I get the option of using a custom image, or use default.
When I select default, the icon works again.
However this fix only works on the home screen, not in the app drawer.
I know this thread is a little old but I just upgraded to KK and was wondering if anyone figured out how to fix this?

I just found a trick that worked for me, set nova's icon size to 85% in nova settings and the stock icons come back to life
