My tab s 10.5 sm-t805 has serious issues !! HELP !! - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tab now has weak signal, battery drains and charges very fast , and sometimes, it resets by itself -_-
Then i went to samsung service center and a samsung guy told me that because my device had been rooted , the hardware became unstable .. wtf was that ?

where do you live ?
Here in France (Europe ?) in 6 first month they must prove their point. you can do anything on software, it does not void hardware warranty...
But yes, it is hard to make them accept they must take it in warranty.
Did you try yo restore default ROM with Kies or Odin and see what happens ? (KNOX is still at 1, but ROM clean and unrooted)

Still like that , is it because of root ?
Btw , you have t805 , dont you ? when have you root it ? Is it still stable ?

I didn't use CF autoroot.
I flashed TWRP with Odin, and then in recovery I flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-2.0.2.zip
But everything is working well on my SM-T805.
Try to restore the default ROM on your tab. With ODIN or KIES. See if it changes something.

Just download the latest firmware for your device and country from www.sammobile.com and reflash it using ODIN. Make sure you backup everything first. This will return you to stock unrooted (although your Knox will still be tripped).
Just for the record, simply rooting will not make you tablet "unstable".

EFS restore ?

hi all,
i did a bad root and bad flash( without EFS backup ) ,,
altough ive flashed a stock rom via ODIN, i get no signals ( and blutooth ) and NO IMEI
EFS is messed up basically
as i said above, i made no EFS back up ,, so is there any way i can restore it another way to get my phone working ! ?
regards
firstly, did you flash the proper rom for your device? as the signal and such look modem related to me.
you can find flashable modems (gt-n7105) in the development section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031575
about the IMEI, i don't think there's any way you can recover it if you don't have an EFS backup somewhere. Reckon the only thing doable would be flash the stock rom root it, use triangle away to reset the counters and flash back the stock rom so you have the device completely stock again.
afterwards claim waranty and just make up a story about how suddenly your phone stopped working completely. and the only thing it currently is, is an overpriced tablet (do make sure you have the correct stock rom though, as when you flash one for AT&T on a T-Moble, or one of those on a normal international unbranded version they will notice )
don't exactly know what model you have, but getting root on my n7105 was one of the easiest things i ever did to a phone, with cf-autoroot and odin it worked like a charm within seconds.

mmm,
no clue how long the waranty is with samsung,
but i found this page where you can check if you still have waranty http://www.samsunguniverse.com/samtools/samwarranty/
simply enter the digits of your serial number and if it works properly you'll know if you still have warantywithin seconds
will flashing back to stock thru odin be of any use ?
don't know you can always try though, but i don't think it'll help much. as IMEI and such are completely device specific i don't think flashing a stock rom would help in getting it back. as the rom is more aimed at a series of devices.
the stock rom option is mostly due to waranty reasons, having a custom rom and not having reset the flash counter would mean they can instantly see you messed up your own device.
resetting flash counter + flashing back stock rom, they won't really notice you where messing around with stuff yourself just play dumb, did that a few times with my tablet as well after i messed things up on it

Hi Tonylee,
i have flash MJ5 bootloader before but its failed
is Blpatch the same like MJ5?? how do i know which bootloader i have now??
is this a stock rom N7100XXDMG1_N7100ODDDMG1_INU_Prerooted.rar ??
i will try your advice and hope it will help me to make my phone work again....
Us an app called Phone Info https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo to.see what bootloader you have installed already. Post here what that is. The blpatch is the dmg1 bootloader, you cannot flash the dmg1 rom if mj5 is installed. Yes the dmg1 rom is totally stock. just pre rooted.
If it fails whilst trying to.flash the mj5 then.its likely you have a mk4 or.newer bootloader wbich means you cannot.flash dmg1.
in that case the only thing I coukd.suggest is to.flash the very latest rom specifically for.you carrier

Right as id guessed your on mk9 bootloader. Ignore that now. Your knox warranty is 0x1 which is the tripped state.
You cant downgrade the bootloader lower than mk4. You cant flash a stock 412 rom If it is loaded with a bootloader Which I think Is the norm.
you have your imei so you can flash a stock 4.3 rom for your carrier or a custom recovery and custom rom such as ARHD

You could flash a spanish stock rom but id go with twrp recovery and arhd.
You cant downgrade your bootloader your stuck with what youve got now. Dont fret, im also stuck on mk9 since I flashed an mk9 rom for a developer to test something. If.you want to use 412 specifically there are custom 412 roms but you might as well.go.with 4.3 now

You cant downgrade you bootloader. You cant.flash these roms because they contain a bootloader that is older than mk4 which means it will fail.
the only.option you have for.flashing stock.is.to.flash a 4.3 one.
if you want older android on your phone you will have to go.down the custom.route
the only stock.roms that will flash ok are 4.3 roms or roms that dont contain a bootloader update (most of.them.do.do)

[Q] downgrade from 4.4.2 to official 4.3 can i use Odin?

Hi guys,
i'll sell my 7105 in few days so i'd like to set back official rom!
my only doubt is right now i'm using custom rom on 4.4.2 can i just wipe all go in DOWNLOAD mode and install 4.3 official rom?
about keeping the root ?
thanks
Yes, Odin is the way to go. You don't necessarily have to wipe anything, but I would do so to make sure it is factory reset and to prevent you from boot loop.
Flashing stock will unroot the phone, but it won't reset the flash counter! Consider to do that as well as you are going to sell it.
thanks Yakobus for your reply.. actually i did act before reading ur msg
well i was just scared to destroy note 2 just few days before leaving me ahah!
FYI , for those like me willing to know, this is what i did...
I've got latest rom from sammobile..
I used trianlge away and then i went in recovery over my phone!
once in recovery i wiped ALL.. and i mean all with TWRP recovery!
from there i rebooted phone in DOWNLOAD mode and i used ODIN pc (u can find step by step by Dr Ketan or other post)
flashed 4.3 to my phone, when rebooted everything was working ( yes also wifi )
COUNTER went back to ZERO ... Knox is installed (apparently) but honestly i couldn't care less..
everything good if anyone has some doubts.. ask
:highfive:
You are welcome. Good to see everything went fine and thank you for the summary!
Edit:
What I did not have in mind: Your Knox counter is probably set to 0x1 as you were using a custom ROM. You cannot reset it so far and I do not know what that means for our warranty as it depends on your country's laws and your provider/seller.
with some more details pls , i'm a noob , had note II 4.3 JB , upgraded to 4.4.2 official kit kat and want to downgrade , i didn't root it , i didn't do anything at all and i dont want to lose the phone i just bought a week ago , can u help me?

Newly purchased i9195 with KitKat wants to update, should I?

I just recently purchased the S4 Mini i9195 factory unlocked phone preinstalled with KitKat and was wondering whether or not to accept a small 33mb update? (See pictures)
I plan to shortly root my phone but I'm wondering whether or not this update will hinder me further in the routing process. I know the bootloader in KitKat is already knox enabled, but I'm worried this update will patch the use of things like towel root?
Should I be safe to update?
I dont think so. I mean it does not matter if you update or not, it can be easily rooted. For example i keep flasing custom roms and sometimes i flash the stock firmware also. And last time ( 4 days back) when i flashed the stock firmware (4.4.2) there were some updates available( forgot...may be around 50 mb) and i went for it. The only changes i saw were some new apps installed. Again yesterday i flashed a custom rom, root was there.
Note: my device s4 mini (duos) GTI9192.

If the firmware on your phone is build earlier then june 2014 u can use towelroot . Do not update yet until u investigate what version u have atm on your phone. If u have an build after that date, if u update or not is egal, u can`t use toweltoor and u must root with other methods that will most likely trigger Knox to 0x1
L.E. Now i saw second screen, u have an build older then june 2014 .
U can try to flash an stock kernel for 4.4.2 earlier then june . towelroot it, then flash stock kernel what u have now ( extract from rom u download from sammobile )
So yeah I got impatient and updated my stock firmware OTA and now my build and kernel are dated March 23rd 2015. Still 4.4.2.
I tried towel root before and after the update and yeah it didn't work.
@SilviuMik
If I were to flash a previous 4.4.2 kernel would that maybe trip knox?
I'm so used to having a rooted phone I don't want to have to wait 6 months before I'm sure my phone doesn't have any faults before tripping the knox and voiding my warranty.
Only thing that is really holding me back from rooting is that I've heard some reports of people saying that tripping knox causes issues with the phone like poorer signal... though I'm hoping this is a myth.

As i said many times ... i don`t have knox at all. All i "try to help" is from what i read here and there . In theory when u flash a stock kernel it should not trigger knox. But then again, some ppl triggered knox just by applying OTA so ... try to figure
For first just see if u have that big problem with battery draining in deep sleep with all OFF ( wifi / 3g / gps etc )
If u do, first go and replace phone / motherboard until u get one without this bug . Then look for root and so . ( i can live without root, i don`t need it at all, but i have a heavy debloated rom )

Many thanks for your help! Tripping knox from an OTA? That's a *****. You'll have to forgive me for making you repeat yourself, I always find it a little daunting with a new phone. I've done a lot reading here on the S4 Mini forum and seen many people have different results. Being as there are at least 4 different S4 Mini phones and many stock versions. I just like to be 100% sure when messing with my phone.
As for the hardware battery drain bug I think I may be all good. I tested my phones battery drain over the first night with everything but phone signal turned off and had 0% drain over 8 hours. Couldn't find a phone build date or country of manufacture anywhere on the phone or box, but the battery was made in march of this year, so I'm guessing I have one of the latest production models. Though I'm sure I've read a couple of people were maybe hit with this bug months down the line. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen.
My next step now is to re read everything again on here and find a safe way to root with my current firmware.
It may be my imagination but after that last small update things seem to be smoother than on my November 2014 firmware. But that might be all in my head.
Again thank you for your advice with my new phone.
One last thing. With this update. Has the "BOOTLOADER RP SWREV" increased on the new update or has it always been 2? Maybe my imagination again... took a picture.
I also count 5 different apps with "knox" in their title. Sure I read there was only 4 before?

There are more i did not discover yet , for example there is a libknox.so file that when u delete u can`t boot your phone anymore.

Noob Question about root and stock rom

Concerning Samsung devices, does flashing a stock firmware clean of careers, without enabling root, void the warranty?
Flashing stock original firmware packages with odin does not trip knox, or void warranty.

Thanks :victory:
That is very reliving to know...
Because I accidentally bought a A5 2017 from a lazy career from Brazil that take too much time to liberate updates, that is when it do liberate...
So I want to flash the clean stock firmware...
Can I only find the firmware at Sammobile and such or is there some Samsung official channel?
I couldn't find at the Samsung site
I think doing a factory data reset will revert you back to a clean, stock device.

Wow, that would be better if it works this way
Anyway, for flashing another stock firmware, I have to factory reset the phone, than I will see what happens! Thank you guys ^^
Do you know how to make phone and notification volume increase and decrease together? I still couldn't find it at settings : / I'm a still a noob to Samsung things lol
Factory reset only didn't solve the question.
But flashing clean stock firmware, with odin, did it flawlessly!
Thanks guys, now I can receive ota updates exactly when they're released :victory:
I flash my stock firmware with odin fro time to time when I mess phone up doing things I should not. It will revert your phone back until the the day u purchased. It will remove root and TWRP if installed.

I am from Brazil as well and I did the same thing, bought my A5 (2017) at a mobile carrier (TIM) and it came with a custom rom, I downloaded and flashed the official stock rom from samsung. There is a problem though, the app Secure Folder does not work anymore. It says that I installed a non-authorized software. Do you know any solution?

I did not even enable it when I set up after flashing the clean stock rom, so I don't know whether I too have this issue or not. I only know that the device status is official both in the settings session of phone status and in recovery. In recovery - or download mode, can't remember exactly - there is some kind of counter on the upper left or right side, showing phone status and what I guess is the amount of times roms had been flashed or root access had been granted.
Sorry for the unclear infos, but I'm new to flashing and stuff with Samsung.
Check your phone status in those both places and wait for OTA from Samsung. If you receive OTA, that should mean your device is recognized as stock as it were with that sad TIM carrier stock rom. As soon as I set up and the home screen appeared for the firstly time, Samsung's OTA had shown up, so I was sure my device is recognized as a stock, official one, without Knox having been triggered.
Hope it helps make things clearer ^^
