Hi,
Here are my Benches. I think after all i tried that i just managed to have the right settings both for performances and both for Battery life , show me yours and don't hesitate to talk about your rom and settings.
It seems i can't post external link in my first Thread so i'll give you the scores ? and then the links , for now the files are attached Check it if not too boring , i got an more than 6000+ Quadrant score
CF-Bench
SmartBench
Quadrant
Battery Life under Settings menu
Of course i do know that bench scores doesn't mean everything but it helps you to tell a bit how roms can run differently . For example i have been running both CYANOGENMOD 9 and 10 latest builds and i was getting for Quadrant a score below the 5000 , when i was running the normal ROM from my Carrier and Samsung i was around 5250 or something like that , and for the battery life i can tell it was not that good . When you are getting a score like i have and a battery life far better than ever you begin to understand the true power of that Phone even if it was good enough with CYANOGENMOD , i repeat it , different ROMS for diffferent Purposes . My Scores are useless if i don't know what to do with that power . I also lke the fact that i still have all the Samsung features with moves and the 'better for me' camera app that comes with the phone + Nova launcher .
I run Turbkey v7 4.0.4 , if you want to know all about my settings just ask , and if you find it really amazing as i do because i've never seen such scores tell me it too . Can't wait to see your pictures .
Cheers.
PS : For mods , i didn't wanted to past the pictures in Best Launcher Pictures because it was not fitting for me , and i checked and didn't found an Benchmark Thread , if i did something bad just tell me and i'll change it or even remove it if necessary . Sorry if my English is not so good , after all i'm French

Thank you for your post , amazing , i thought i had good scores Ok and does your phone heat up ? I did a stability test during 10 minutes and i was at 52 degrees BAT , but all successful result , do you know guys at which degrees it becomes dangerous ? Mopral , btw what is your cpu governor ? pegasusq or hotplug ? Do you know stweaks ? if not what do you use to overclock your S3 with wich rom ? Thank again Mopral.

ps : i forgot to mention i undervolted the cpu at boot -50 mv i just did it and had better result and it should recude heat increase , what are your thoughts ?
Maybe better to move this post to the general section ^^

I don't find that Post useless at all , if people are participating , by that way i can understand how certain roms works and what can be expected and i repeat it , i already know the fact that people creating roms always repeat that Benches are quite useless but honestly you can easily get confused when seeing so many roms Posts after Posts and never really knowing what people are using and why .
I find it a good way to take the path of Benches to be able to get directly to the best tweaks and roms and experiences regarding Battery Life . Of course i could read every post , look at all youtube vids and even test all Roms + Battery life for each + many other things . Anyway that post doesn't hurt anybody , can be seen as "useless" but seems to make some people react to it in the way i like. By the way thanks to all people posting their pics and giving infos about your settings . One last question , what is the soft that everybody should have on his phone regarding , killing services or starting daemon or even apps starting at boot ? Thanks for your answers .
Jacques Dupont(d)
Tell you why its classed as useless .
The exact same topic will be posted in a few weeks time once more .

Hey everybody, so I'm a pretty huge noob when it comes to performance settings. I only recently read through the Understanding CPU Governors thread, and I get that part pretty well. I just flash the new AOKP rom for Primo C, and decided to go with the Scary gov. What I don't understand is what the heck is the io scheduler, and how to use it. Also, what are some optimal min/max MHz settings for the One V?
I chose Scary for battery life, not so much for performance. I don't need a high performing phone, but I do want my battery to last those extra few hours. If someone could give me some feedback on how to use this stuff, I'd really appreciate it, so that I could quit asking every few months.
Thanks.
Min try not setting below 250mhz and max 1450 please dont oc it above that ur motherboard will fry...and if u want high performance install,a custom rom and kernel, if u oc.it u will get high performance but low battery....and vice versa....
Hope u understood click thanks if it helped,

The I/O scheduler is reponsible for how data is "transfered" from storage
This includes when it will be written back if dirty a.s.o
So it influences the I/O performance.
Actually the default deadline is a good choice to use
See here for more information about that topic

Please anyone can suggest best ROM with great battery life and good performance and no heating (tired of heating issue)?
Kernel Tweaks and custom kernel suggestions will also be preferable.
Thank you

Try AEX 24th July build for starters. Then move on as per research & development.
Along with AEX ... U can try AOSPG ROM... Best SOT out there and good performance too
Flash Jaguar kernel in both the cases for extra sweetness

Tried AEX 24th July build, AICP, Cosmic OS, Pure Nexus but in every ROM I'm facing heating issue some ROM have good performance with less battery life and some have good battery life but weak performance.
Currently using viper os with Jaguar kernel. Antutu score is just 110000.

The latest one of AOSGP available right now .. i guess the 20 august build.. If you are using AEX 24 july build.. Use July version of the jaguar kernel... or if using the AOSGP latest version.. use 13 August version of jaguar kernel

Go for citrus CAF 3.5
Thank you for your support
Using AOSGP-X with Jaguar kernel. No heating issues. Underclocked to 1.92GHz battery life is great. Performance is also good.
Pardon me for being a noob, what does it mean to switch kernels and how dangerous that is? I thought it would be better to choose ROM and stick to kernel bundled in the same package. I'm willing to explore if difference is noticeable.
AEX is the best with stock kernel.
Gives Everytime 6:30-7:00 hrs of SOT with YouTube chrome movies texting calling and gaming.
Use greenify.

Kernel is the bridge between the software & the hardware, it is a fairly simple process to change kernels, you simply have to flash the zip from the recovery. Read thoughrouly about the kernel you wish to flash, if it gives any extra features you would like then proceed
AEX 4.6 + Heliox 1709
I get 6+ hrs of SOT and the deep sleep is always around 97%.

No Rom is good for this phone here...i dont understand what's going on! is this some kinda race?, isn't it a devs job to complete the project before he/she moves on to the next one?
On one hand, we have 7.1.2 with so many bugs yet to be fixed in most of the roms, but these so called "devs" just abandon the project and run away to fix oreo which has 100 times more bugs than the prev ones.
It just goes to prove that there's no guarantee Oreo will be completely stabilized before you move on to Android P, there's no purpose for people to choose custom ROMs, instead we can stick with the stock...
On the other hand, I see devs fighting in each others thread....ridiculous!
Trust me, 90% of the rom can be build in short period of time, anyone can take the source code and build a rom, yes i said it, anyone can do it....but only a proper dev can build a stable, bugless rom...the remaining 10% is the pain in the ass...
I request every dev developing ROMS for this phone to complete your project before you move on to oreo...

Can you point me to the correct thread for this ROM. Can't seem to find the official one. Is it still in UNOFFICIAL status?
Also, does this ROM comes with CAF kernel? I see it mentioned in the change log in the ROM thread.
Also, I don't see any mention of underclock on the ROM thread. Did you underclock it yourself?
If so, will underclocking in AEX ROM give similar benefit of less heating?

How did you underclock the ROM? Using kernel auditor or it is underclocked by default or has some option to do so?
Hello.
I've bought Redmi Note 5 (Snapdragon 636, Adreno 509, 4/64GB one, it is called "Redmi Note 5 Pro" outside my country and on XDA) without thinking about gaming on it.
Sadly, I've tried PUBG and I've started enjoying it. Too bad - this phone performance is lackluster, PUBG doesn't run well...
If I would going to buy phone again I would decide to get Pocophone F1 now, but it is too late so well - I want to get as much performance possible from Redmi Note 5 Pro right now.
Which kernel and rom combo would make this phone perform best in gaming? Are OC Kernels like No-name 2.2 GHz or TwistLoop 2.51 GHz any good?
I've got 116759 Antutu score on stock rom and kernel (4.478-perf+/MIUI Global 10.0.6.0) - 56327 CPU, 21326 GPU, 31573 UX, 7533 MEM
Thanks.
Try gaming on aosp rom, like pixel extended or havos os. They run pubg farr smoother, but the rom themselves are average on battery. If youre searching for an overall lasting rom, with good battery, use masik 1.7 along with noname kernel or insigiux kernel. I play pubg too, and the best fluidity was on aosp roms, but i couldnt play more than 5 6 full games, and switched to masik. I can play 9 10 upto 15 18 games on masik, but using the kernel and gfx settings.

what is the best kernel for note 5 aosp roms and what is differnce between them ?
try No-Name kernel. (overclocked upto 2.2 ghz)
I used it with
1) MIUI Dev rom (Medium settings in pubg)
2) Pixel Exp ! (smooth exp , good battery life :good
slightly better performance than stock kernel

if you are a gamer try noname kernel v2.3. its overclocked so good for games.
if you dont game and just want to watch videos browse web etc then insigniux and derp is the best choice.
