Hey guys so which firmware is better? I have 10j tried ART but it kept freezing at random points in the day so disabled that but is 10h better than 10j?
Glad im not alone with the random freeze thing. Never experienced it before v10j. Im using dalvik atm tho with that problem.
I installed 10j here without wiping my 10g. Everything is perfect. In fact I just checked and the phone has been on for 23 hours straight. Perfect in every way. Mine is the 855 16g

I did the same, been great for 2 days with no restarts or issues of any kind.
Installed 10j using the LG tool but selected the flash option that doesn't wipe data.
Switched to ART yesterday, think I'll keep it, it is definitely smoother.

Yep Normal flash.
It's the only time I flashed the phone, lost root but then got it back easily. Everything else was in tact, all apps, settings, photos, and I don't have a SD card in the phone.

Yeah, I'm on art too. After I left dalvik I couldn't go back. No fc, slow downs. Like I said the phone is now perfect. I guess that guys that are having problems with 10j it is probably due to app incompatibility with art.

So is dalvik still suffering from lag on the 10j firmware? Im using ART on 10a but im missing exposed and was planning on using 10j with dalvik & exposed :good:

I wouldn't say that it suffers from lag. With art apps open faster and the battery is awesome. Smoothness is the same I believe. I choose to live without Xposed for now to have a snappier phone.
Has anyone actually received a notification of OTA for v10j? Or everyone flashes a leaked version?

I can confirm that in ART it freezes too. I've got bootloop on LG logo, only removing the battery worked to me. And on Antutu it reboots one time (on Dalvik)
May i know how did you guys managed to get versions far ahead then the current one? Or is it because im using the korean version? My version is still F400K10G. Now its J?
V10j is still an internal test fw so no ota's for now

I am using 10j installed 2,5 days ago over 10i "dirty" way and I am using ART: very smooth and fantastic battery (much better than 10i).
I never had freezes and/or rebooting with ANY firmware, but 10a/10b or so they were very laggy. Now I have a perfect phone.
To judge about battery you need to have at least 2 full charges (IMHO of course) as during the first use the telephone need to "adjust" itself.

Same here but with ART
I did a clean install of 10J after running on 10G for a while, I think the touch screen is less accurate that it was before, playing "Dont tap the white tile" it seems a lot more hit and miss than before.
Not sure if its a FW issue for sure but I cant think of anything else, might slip back to 10H and test that to see what happens, or just put up with it untill 10K or L or whatever comes next, gotta say I am impressed by LG's speed at kicking out new updates even tho they are essentially very minor upgrades each time and some issues still persist, at least they are trying...

Greetings,
I have arc since May and I'm really satisfied from it.
But here's the thing. It randomly pauses most of my applications after a minute or so.
The first time it happened, i though i misstouched the screen, but I wasnt. When I'm playing games it pauses the game (No graphical lag or any issues, just pause) and i have to touch the screen to continue back. Same applies to youtube and any application that has pause.
Any idea what happened? My arc is stock non-rooted (Since 2.3.4 update) so i didn't mess up with any system files.
Looking at the number of views and no replies seems that no one has this problem , including me.
Have you tried to reflash the firmware or may be tried different region firmware or may be downgrade to lower version? Just to test the issue reappearing?
True. No, I haven't done flash or anything you mentioned before. Looks likely im going to use SEUS and wipe everything. Though I don't have time right now and I'll do it later in the evening or at weekend

I'm suffering from the same problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II with stock rom
It started out a couple of days ago. It happens on every application I run, pausing it after a a short time it's running and it happens again every minute or so.
I tried uninstalling new apps but it didn't work.

Especially because you can delete bloatware, install CWM, flash MODs/Themes/etc., install V6 Supercharger and so on.

After the ICS update on my non-rooted phone, the phone seems to be freezing
up and becoming unresponsive. After a while it looks like the radio "resets", all
the icons disappear in the top bar (signal, wifi, data) and it shows no service.
Then slowly one by one they all come back and I can use the phone again.
Sometimes I receive the "System is not responding" dialog box, but not always.
There is not one particular program it is doing this in, it can be something as
simple as pulling down the notification bar that will cause the freeze.
Any suggestions are appreciated, I couldn't find anyone else with the same issue.
Thanks.
Try:
Turn off phone
Take out SIM
Put SIM back
Turn on
I've had my phone act weird with respect to signal, wifi and data when this was the issue. Worth a shot, at the very least.

Thank you for the response.
Tried this and had the system is unresponsive issue right on reboot. If I do a
factory reset, does it reset to the current firmware or what was originally on the
phone (probably a really stupid question). I wonder if some other program isn't
ICS compatible and is doing something in the background. Doesn't look like
anyone else is having this same issue.

If you do a factory reset and it was the standard Kies legit update from Tmo, it won't downgrade your phone - will just re-install a fresh copy of your ICS. Did you do a restore of apps from your last version (gb?) with data? That could cause problems I would think..

Yes I did the legit update on Kies, standard stock phone un-rooted.
Do I need to backup pictures before the reset, its been a while since

At this point, I think its worth a try to wipe it clean and clear out all the

Are you letting it sit for like 10 minutes during first boot after factory reset then reboot again before setting up. Its likely that some scripts are running from the initial installation and you need to let it rot until its done..
I did exactly that, thanks for the advice. Hoping that may fix the problem. I wiped the cache and factory reset, then let the phone sit for a good while before going through the play store and re-installing everything.
This issue just resurfaced again. The last 2 days I am getting the freezing, radio reboot and android process not responding.
No one else having this issue?
I think I'm in the same boat. I was stock GB, and just did the mini OTA update (which was great). A few days later ICS became available via Kies from T-Mobile, and I "upgraded".
Since the upgrade my phone is laggy, screen is significantly less responsive and also my battery life is less than before.
I have NOT done a factory reset of my phone yes (plan on doing that today), but even with that I have read that performance does not improve.
Ideally, I would love to return back to the stock tmobile gb firmware. However, even after literally 2 hours of reading I can't find the "how-to" and files I need.
I would appreciate any assistance.
t989 chip lags
ive notice this happen on my tmobile galaxy s2. i think it has to do with the Qualcomm chip on tmobiles stock roms.
When i had sprint i bought my girlfriend a galaxy s2 on the sprint network which runs the samsung exynos chip. She never complained about any lag or freezing whatsoever. I then left sprint because of their garbage network and joined tmobile.
bought 2 galaxy s2s and i noticed the lag almost immediately. The phone has random lag spikes as well as freezing and force closes. It had it on stock gingerbread and it has it on stock ICS too.
My girlfriend complains about freezing all the time so i decided to root her phone too. Right now im testing DarkSides v7 rom and if its pretty good in performance i will flash her phone with it too. So far it has been pretty snappy and everything works.

I must say, 4.4 rolled out much better than expected.... especially for the C6506 users .... Started to download the FTF from XDA but then decided to check PC companion, and surprised to see that .230 was available (CANADA) so I went through that route... Normally C6506 is always lagging in updates, but this is a nice change.
- feels a bit choppy compared to .101 but I have noticed that updates take a few days to sort it self out, maybe had to do with thermal management
- Hoping for better battery life from .230, .101 had pretty good battery life
- probably need a few more tweaks to get pretty smooth and trouble free (but no issues so far)
So far so good, good job Sony :good:

no such issues, is it shutting down when the charger is disconnected only ?
Can't say that I've had that issue either... was seeing pretty decent battery life myself. And I concur that with the exception of Generic BR (which some are complaining about) it's been a really awesome rollout compared to past adventures...)
Anyone on Rogers see it yet?
I solved the choppiness (at least temporarily) by enabling "Force GPU Rendering" under Development Options. Seems like a nice ROM so far, we'll see about battery life. I've also rooted it by flashing a CM kernel, booting straight into Recovery, flashing SuperSU and immediately flashing back the .230 kernel.
It isn't available for my phone yet. Hopefully it'll be out soon in this week.

Unlocked, don't even think about flashing a non-Sony kernel with a non-unlockable bootloader! However, flashing official Sony ROMs (like sideloading .230) will work properly.
I tried booting with Sony's .423 kernel before unlocking my bootloader (you needed to flash that kernel to get root in JB with locked bl) and that went wrong, so don't try to do that either.
I'm having a massive consumption of memory.
befor update, i had something about 1000-1000 free mb. now it's 700-800
something as NFC controler, Xperia Link are always running in background (even disable and rebooted device)
"device usage" is consuming 12mb

I'm using the C6503 Vivo ftf from here and I had the same issue as yours.
My phone was working without any issues and right after a upgrade, I'm experiencing those random shutdowns. While unplugged, I get at most 45 seconds before the shutdown.
I wouldn't blame the battery, since the issue just started.
I must say that I was using the journalists version prior to the upgrade, no root, locked BL.

It's your battery... Does your phone actually "shutdown", as in does it show the powering off screen? Or does it just go black randomly, and won't boot past boot logo without being plugged in? If it's number 2, your battery's screwed.

I have the same issue about the choppiness...
I already enabling Force GPU Rendering, and hard reset my device..
But still, it's kinda lag when you pull the notification bar
So, I bought it on launch day and I'm getting desperate...
1) Wake screen after receiving notification (text etc). Pull down notification bar, back and multitask soft buttons grey out and phone will not respond. If I'm listening to music when this happens, the song keeps playing until I pull the battery or the phone reboots itself.
2) General lag is awful... More than half the time it has noticeable hangs switching apps or opening anything. I'm down to next to no apps that i've installed and have even tried removing just about everything I have with no improvement. Scrolling stutters about half the time as well. And the image you see with the camera open stutters badly also. Every once in a while it's buttery smooth for a few seconds then slows again.
Battery life is great and I love the form factor of this phone. I REALLY don't want to get rid of it but I'm at the point where it's more important to have a phone that's usable than have the extra screen size etc.
It's bone stock and I haven't tried a factory reset.
Suggestions?

I have booted in to safe mode, and reflashed both the latest i and j firmware updates but no success.
Any ideas or anything I can try to dig in to the issue further?
By any chance did you enable ART runtime in settings? Otherwise maybe you have a corrupt sdcard.
Did you try booting into recovery to delete the cache? All else fails, you might need to factory reset.

Its probably due to either overheating or you messed with something in the build.prop.
First is your phone rooted? If it is then did you do anything system-wise? (Xposed framework or edit the build.prop or attempt to "flash" something)?

Is it worth me following the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475045 or is the LGFlashTool2014 the same thing?

Its probably due to either overheating or you messed with something in the build.prop.
First is your phone rooted? If it is then did you do anything system-wise? (Xposed framework or edit the build.prop or attempt to "flash" something)?

I've had Xposed installed with a few modules since I first had the phone, and hadn't added any new modules recently, although I guess possibly one of them may have updated. I've since done a factory reset and flashed however so can no longer check. Would I be right to assume the re-flash would have put everything back in a stock state?

Reflash puts everything the way it was when you first took the phone off the box with the excitement and love.

Xposed causes my LG to reboot every few minutes, so it could be that.
Just for extra info...I had an optimus g pro and the same thing was happening...I sent it in for repair...but that didn't fix the problem...here is what fixed it from rebooting...I replaced the battery...yep it was the battery causing it...put the old one in and it started rebooting again...put the new one in again and no reboots...don't know if this will help you but it's what happened to me

Really? Seems far fetched, but I'm willing to try anything now! I'll test with a colleagues battery tomorrow and let you know how I get on!

Unfortunately that didn't work either. Looks like it'll have to go back for repair.
As a last gasp attempt to see if anyone else has any thoughts, I've noticed the following message in the logcat near when the phone restarts itselfL
[ 09-24 20:49:38.359 331: 331 E/ThermalEngine ]
out low battery limit.

I can't find anything online but I wonder if the phone is thinking it is overheating and therefore restarting? The device feels cold to the touch so I don't think it is actually overheating
Sounds like one of the chips is overheating. Maybe not be seating with the heatsink or whatever is supposed to help it keep cool. Ide take it back and get a replacement.

Interesting development, I flashed the Deviant CM11 AOSP rom on to it (using Tethered TWRP) and whilst it couldn't do much it lasted a whole day without rebooting. Unfortunately flashing the stock firmware or any other kdz back to the device causes the rebooting again. I'm still suspecting it could be a thermal issue, the phone wasn't exactly being stressed on Deviant.
