[Q] [Solved] CM11 AOSP swipe does not work - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
can anybody confirm that in the current Cyanogen NIGHTLY for amami :
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=amami
the Swipe keyboard feature ( in the default android keyboard AOSP) is not working?
it draws the swiped line, but does not write a word. I've checked the settings did a cache wipe and dalvic cache wipe and deleted the data for the keyboard APP in the settings all without any success
thanks in advance for your help

Nobody a hint for me?
The SwiftKey App is working, but I like to use the stock Version, or does anybody knows an reliable open source keyboard App alternative?

Solved!
Okay, I found out that it was the Google Apps (gapps package) that causes problems.
I did a complete new Install (formated /system /boot /cache /data and reinstalled cm11)
then I used the micro package from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
and up to now everything works as expected (though it has google launcher inside. is there ANY way to JUST get the playstore?`)
kind regards
raver

[Q] Cm 6/7 gapps/framework question.

After about one day running either rom my gapps or google services framework gets constant force closes. I've tried clearing the cache through settings and wiping through titanium backup and it just keeps happening. How can I go about fixing this?
really No one wants to try and help? It is seeming to happen every time I install flash from the market anyone think of any suggestions how to go about fixing it?
Run a FORMAT_ALL.zip and only use the official gapps packages from http://goo-inside.me/gapps/#versions
Note that a FORMAT_ALL.zip (search in this forum to find it) does exactly what it says: Formats all of your internal partitions (except WiMax, of course); /system, /data, /cache, and /boot.

[Q] Google Navigation in ICS

I have Sandvolds ICS 0.3.6.
Several people are reporting problems with maps. Sometimes I get FC of maps but the biggest problem is Navigation which does not work at all.
I have tried to remove Maps from system. I am not sure how I did it but I uninstalled Maps (updated from Market) and all of a sudden it was all gone. I thought that system apps was not able to be removed without using ADB or Titanium or similar.
After this I rebooted, wiped dalvik/cache and reinstalled maps from market.
Still the stame. Navigation keep crashing.
Anyone who has a solution for this?
Probably because the rom is beta?????

Of course it's beta I know this. However sometimes there are solutions despite it's beta.

in most cases this problem is related to google-tts. try switching to pico-tts in settings/language&input/text-to-speech output.
that solved the problem on sandvold 0.3.6 for me.
I will try. However I really needed navigation today so I had to restore my nandroid backup of MIUI. Now I can't restore my nandroid of 0.3.6 or even older 0.3.4. Seems like something has happened to data partition because after restore there are 0 mb available on data. I do have correct hboot so no clue :-(

Same problem here.
I try tree ICS version ( LP2/LP6/LPB) All of them , the new Google Navigation crash, then it has to show the map.
The Google Maps work fine, but Google Navigator don't work.
If I reflash the old rom v.2.3.6 , then Google Navigation work fine.
What are the solution to solve the problem ??
Is it a google-tts/pico-tts problem ?? If yes, I will flash ICS again and try that.
I flashed Sandvold's ROM 2 days ago (0.3.8.1) and re-flashed 0.3.9 (with a speed hack) yesterday. (wiped cache / dalvik-cache), didn't start Navigation until now to check if work, and yes, work fine, no problem, no fc, no crashes.
Older version of builds (before beta 0.3.8.1) had a TTS problem.
Nothing's messed up, you just probably flashed the ICS ROM over MIUI without a full wipe.
a) boot into fastboot then
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
or
b) boot into recovery (depending on which, I'm assuming clockwork)
\mounts & storage
>format boot
>format system
>format data
>format cache
>format sd-ext
Then re-flash
I changed hboot from cm7r2 to stock and formated everything except sd card.
I checked the backup files and the file containing data partition are 152 mb. The data partition with stock layout are only 147mb so something seems wrong.

is your system language english?
i am a turkish guy and when i had set the phone language to turkish navigation crashed, when using it in english it runs ok.
so i am guessing its a problem with tts, have no idea how to fix it tho
I ran Navigation in Sandvold 0.3.6 with no problems using English TTS.
Although I managed consistently to freeze the phone totally if I had the satellite layer enabled. Buttons, display, battery charge led, everything. Restart via battery removal was the only option. That was probably a HWA issue.
Now I'm on Sandvold 0.3.9 and haven't tested it properly yet.

Official cyanmobile 2.3.8

Just wanted to share that this rom works with almost no bugs, and super smooth! Testing it for 2 days using int2ext+ and holo launcher instead of adw.
Had 1 FC in browser

Thanks for sharing this! I am using Light Orange v7, and I only flashed a rom once... but I really wanted to try a CM 7 - based rom and I have heard that cyanmobile is performing better than CM 7.2 for Gio. The thing is that I am a noob and there are no instructions on the offical cyanmobile thread, which scares me away a bit...
I already have and ext4 filesystem on my rom, an ext4 partition on my sdcard (i use link2sd) and a ext4-only cwm recovery, so how do I flash this (my rom came with a noob-proof aroma installer...)?
I just go to recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and then install zip from sd? No need to mount anything? I probably need to wipe sd ext4, or I just uninstall linked apps?.
Then for gapps I just wipe dalvik cache and install zip from sd?
I just want to be sure before I do anything wrong...
I also wanted to give int2ext+ a try and leave link2sd, since I am told int2ext+ script it is much better!
Thanks for any help you can give.
I do a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache and wipe battery stats then I format system and format sd-ext.
Then instal rom after that mount system and mount data and flash gapps and mount system and data again and flash cronmod int2ext+ and reboot.

thanks

Thanks! It's so confusing to understand what to do before flashing, because I think everyone does it differently! Some say to mount system and data before flashing, others say just wipe cache... If this worked for you, then I guess it will work for me.
I also read an article from a developer at Google saying that battery stats get wiped automatically at every reboot, so there is no need to wipe them manually.
Success!
Just flashed the ROM and everything seems to be fine!
Formatted the sd card and made a larger ext4 partition (1GB) and flashed INT2EXT4+. Now I have a much bigger internal memory!
The settings are just overwhelming!! Everything can be changed! Love the bass boost and integrated equalizer that can be set differently for speaker and headphones (I paid for poweramp with my previous rom... ). And the automatic call when you put the phone to your ear. Now I have to play with it a bit to see what else it can offer, and the performance in games .
Thanks again for the help.
The camcorder is lousy, though... It's the only downside so far. It doesn't compensate for outside light. You start filming a dark area a switch to your window and the screen goes white. You do it the other way around and the screen goes black.
I have solved it by freezing the camera app and installing LgCamera
GPS worked
I can't write on the development thread (too noob, I guess... ), so I will keep posting here my experience with the official cyanmobile 2.3.8 for galaxy Gio.
My GPS had NEVER worked before. And I mean NEVER fixed a single satellite! Not with GPS fix, not with GPS status, not by manually editing the settings, NEVER. It didn't work fresh from the store, it didn't work after I flashed a highly tweaked rom based on 2.3.6, but I was hoping that maybe this time it could work... and it did! It comes with an integrated "GPS tracker" function but that doesn't work and just shows a black screen. Instead I installed GPS status and it fixed 6 satellites within less than 1 minute!! I just won a new GPS device. Probably other CM 7.2 rom would have done it (I don't know), but I wasn't expecting this type of efficiency.
Now I just installed Chainfire 3D and Adrenaline engine 4.4 and I'm loving it so far.
This is the second rom I tried for my Gio (first was JellyBread but it had some problems) and it looks very nice. Options are overwhelming but in a positive way: everything can be customized.
BUT,,, I thought I could use this rom, until I slipped in my sim and wrote my first sms (by the way: Happy Easter!): the sms interface is terrible! I cannot even see what I am writing, there is space for just a single text line and the buttons on the right become so small that they cannot be clicked.
Is there a way to change that? Making the keyboard smaller (I'm using swype, but the stantard keyboard is equally large)? Writing an email in the gmail app is perfect as always, so it should not be a problem of the keyboard.
Also, I installed a few apps (4 or 5) and the internal space already decreased (95MB free now), even if I set to install everything on sd-ext.
And finally, why do the 5 icons at the bottom rotate without a reason?
As cyanmobile is based on cyanogen, you can use a mms.apk from cm7.

Thanks, I might try that.
I found a bug that may explain my problem with internal storage usage.
In setting -> cyanmobile -> install location there is the option to force install to SD-Ext, which I chose. But when I change language to Italian, this option disappears and there remain only automatic, internal, external none of which is selected.
Is the option to install to sd-ext still active, although not shown? I found out that an app I installed was in internal storage, and I had to move it manually.
I can use english, but that would not be ideal.
I made a test installing a big game, Angry Birds Star Wars @49MB. With system language in english, in Applications -> Preferred install location I left Let the system decide; in Cyanmobile -> Install location I selected SD-Ext.
Nevertheless Angry Birds has been installed in the internal memory!
I add another possible bug: when I receive an email with gmail I'm notified as always, but if I click the notification and then close gmail, there is still the notification in the bar.
I also confirm the bug with the camera: when recording a movie, it does not compensate changes in luminosity.

First of all Backup all your files from internal storage to pc or external SD
Then do clean flash :
Format cache, davlik, system, internal storage too (must do it).
Then flash your Cynogen Rom and gapps then format cache and davlik only then reboot
Hope it will be useful
For keyboard it supports Arabic and u can add it later in settings > language and input > andeoid keyboard settings > languages.
And u can use another keyboard from store though
thank you pro
When installing a copy cyanogen were no programs I install GApps Aroma but I could not installing Samsung App and pen applications Because I did not see a copy Samsung applications such as GApps
Samsung apps will not work with CM ROMs because the apps need a Samsung kernel.

thanks for you bro

Free up system with opengapps.

For those having problem with free system space when installing rom update could use my gapps-config.txt, I removed most stuff not needed, however you can edit to your liking. Place it in same place with your opengapps.
Suggestion when installing update:
1. Wipe dalvik, cache, system (dont wipe data or internal)
2. Install rom, open gapps pico, supersu (additional), etc
The #1 may seem unnecessary, but could avoid problems that dirty flash may have (bootloop, fc, feature not work, etc) and since you don't wipe data, your data would be safe.
This work for all roms (5.x, 6.x, 7.x) as long opengapps supported.
PS: Albeit I try to remove stock launcher and keyboard, it would not get removed if there are no other launcher and keyboard. This is handy if you dirty flash and already set another launcher and keyboard. You can comment both line if you unsure.
I have installed pico gapps and further removed unwanted apps linke text to speech but still unable to make google app a system app using link2sd it says low space please help

I guess you should remove "LatinIME or LatinME" the default keyboard and the default browser, that'd definitely do it.
I some how made google app a system app but it keeps on force closing or show error so please guide me from start

Try clean data for that app, else do a clean flash.
