I had this problem when I tried the Motorola headphones on my Samsung.
Are you using the original Samsung headphones?
If so, make sure the jack is firmly plugged all the way in.

Im using my Sol Republic V10's. I was having the issue this week and last night and it wouldn't do it on my Note 1 or Note 3. This morning I plugged them in my tab and the problem was gone. I'm worried somethings wrong with the jack but I'm gonna swap my headphones out at best buy today and see what happens. It's seated in the jack real good by the way.
Sound is amazing. I own the Sony X Headphones (MDRX10)
Yup it must have been the connection. New headphones, no issues. Just need viper and life will be good!

Just wondering if the in ear headset that comes with the phone is any good?
It looked plain in the unboxing videos, so what's the sound like?
Could someone take a close up picture of theirs or link me to the exact headset?
Thanks
Compared to other out of the box headsets its one of the best ive had, decent bass, crisp. All the SE phones ive had have always come with a decent headset. I can only use the type that push into your ears so that was another plus.
Does it have a remote for changing songs and stuff or is it only a mic?
A link to the headset would be appreciated
No controls, thats the downside to it. Only a mic and call answer button. I use my liveview as the controls though
Yeah I wanted to get liveview since there's no control.
Is it worth it? Any downsides to liveview?
I'd only use it for changing songs, messages and incoming calls. What you reckon?

I've tried my beats with controltalk with this phone and the sound is all garbled up.
Anyone else experience that with other headsets?
The ones that come stock are ok. but I miss my ability to control songs (fast forward, rewind, volume up/down) that I had with my iPhone 4.

I've heard of a few people who complain of garbled sound with non SE headphones in Arc/Play.
I have been using beats dr dre tour on my Play with out an issue though. Seems very hit or miss on if they work or not.

That's really an awesome app. Works brilliant. I think you have to buy it, though. At least it started annoying me with some "your trial has expired" messages.
Stock earphones are quite good, though they look/feel really cheap. ^^
They look pretty much like SE MH710 on the pictures, but I'm not sure if they are the same.
The arc stupidly reverse the ground and mic wiring thats why other headsets dont work on it. Try to hold the mic button down you will get nice sound.

Just tried that and you are right! How the heck do we fix that?
Is there something I can buy or a software hack that can fix it?

Wow! So THIS is why I haven't been able to use other headsets! That is very sneaky of SE.. I hope this is a software issue rather than intentional to force users to only buy SE headsets
My old Android phone also had this problem so I do not think it is a SE issue...
(Motorola Backflip)
It seems with the 2.3.3 update they don't even let you use these "incompatible" headsets, it just displays "Accessory not supported".
I used samsung and motorola headsets with no problem.

there HAS to be a fix for this! i cant stand the headset that comes with it, i hate those in ear noise cancelling things, make my ears feel weird! lol
but seriously, im having to use a normal pair of earphones with no control because of this issue, i have a liveview for controls but thats not always practical (dissconection issues/battery life/running the risk of smashing it to pieces when im skating!)
i have a set of iphone headphones i really wanted to use but because of this ****ty issue i cant. is there a way we could easily modify the headset and reverse the wiring in them ourselves?
We can use normal earphones ? If so, I'm not overly concerned.

Yes anything with a regular 2 channel 3.5mm Jack (headphones/speakers) work fine. I would have taken the phone back if this problem effected normal jacks too as I plug my phone into car stereos and portable speakers, but I'm still pissed off I can't use anything with an inline remote

Why don't you use stereo bluetooth hedset MW600. 3.5 mm jack on them is compatible with all wired headphones unlike 3.5 mm jack on arc and portable speakers.
okay it turns out that my earbud hole is messed up X_X im wondering how can i fix it 5minutes ago it was working fine then i put some songs into my phone and now i can only hear from the right side and i have to adjust my jack to get both side to have sound i tried different earbuds samething.
Are you sure its not your ear? Just making sure its not serious hearing loss.

Try a different pair of headphones in the jack. Its most likely the headphones that are messing up. I had a pair of earbuds that did that and it made me think my HD2 was dying -__-
i did .....my headphones + earbuds is having the same problem
Did you try a reboot? my phone did that a few times reboot fixed it up
yuppppppp i just rebooted and shutdown X_X
SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
does anyone know where i can try to repair this X_X radioshack? J&R? cant even hear music on last day of my break this is probably the sadest moment of my life

Or insurance
I had the same problem with my audio jack, at least that's i thought... but it was the headphones... two pair... picked up a deff pair from walmart and they work fine. Had to buy a deff audio cable as well.
earbud holes are on the side of your head and the 2.5mm audio jack is on the phone... lol
I'd say it's the headphones, just a fluke that both didn't work. It's pretty hard to mess up a 3.5mm audio port, headphones are much more easily messed up. Try another pair, get a pair of cheap $15 skullcandies, it'll give you a definite answer. Worse case scenario, you confirm your thought and have a decent pair of backup headphones.
my headphone works in my PC nope i dont have insurance or warranty X_X
it dont make sense if my headphone work on my PC and doesnt work on my phone :/
You could call Samsung and ask if there's a nearby repair center?
i use t-mobile and my phone is rooted....should i unroot it first O_O?

While it may seem I was trying to be funny, I wasn't. People don't realize how volume (to shut other people out at the gym for instance) can still cause hearing damage.

Hey all,
For some reason unbeknownst to me whenever i plug in my a100 to my Cadillacs stock tape adapter it sounds very distant. Like a small radio sitting on a shelf at the other end of a warehouse is the best way i can describe it. When hooked up to my headphones it sounds amazing but when i use the tape adapter it sounds horrible. Both mine and my GF's phones sound fine but the tablets sound is borderline unbearable. Ive also tried different media players and Pandora with the same result. Also i dont have it charging so im pretty sure its not cross interference. If it were it would pop and sound scratchy witch it doesn't the audio is clear, but like i said sounds really distant. Plz any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can tell you is play around with the jack once it is in the tablet. I know my headphone jack is long and if I push it all the way in it sounds distant like that. I have to pull it out a hair (yes only that much) and it works fine..... But a tiny bump and it sounds bad..... Headphones e jjacck was defective on my acerr when I got it. Sent it in and it works but is crap. I use my infuse for music anyway. That Wolfson DAC sound board with voodoo..... Amazing.

i suggest to get a new radio with a mini jack on the front they are less than 50 bucks. and if you shop around you can find one that will play mp3 cds that hold like 250+ songs depending on the compresion
I had the same problem in my Mercedes. Go into Settings and turn off the dolby mobile and give it another try. It worked for me. I'm using an A2DP bluetooth adapter in my aux port as well, so there were no physical issues causing my problems.
You could try to up the gain in audio settings if your using power amp

Hey, I'm in a weird problem at present, by chance the golden tip of my earphone got stuck into the earphone jack and the technician said he couldn't take it out as its too small. So I can't hear a sound nor I can speak on phone because the nexus thinks the headphone is still plugged in, so I have to buy a new earphone jack. My questions are:
1. What will be the amount/price of a new samsung earphone (internal part with mic) jack.
2. Or is there any way of disabling the sound from the speaker and change the settings that sound is played through speakers despite the phone thinks earphones are plugged in?
Thanks in advance, please help.

I have the same issue. With my custom headphones I hear a lot of hum noice during music play but with other headphones it's ok so I think that problem is with impedance. 25 ohms for custom (1964Qi) and 15 ohms Sony MH1C. If anyone can test it or has idea how to solve it?

Today I tested 2 LG g3 and 1 LG G2. All off the phones do have this issue we have. But only with my bose. Testet nye pair of headphones and same problem so our phone is OK and I am buying a new headset possibly wireless
C'mon I don't think that problem is in my 500$ headphones. It looks like some incompatibility but needs to be investigated somehow. Some portable headamp or DAC can help as I need good headphones

The problem is in the LG phones not just ours but all LG phones. Maybe it is software related?
It's possibly hardware related and just poor isolation of the circuits used for audio on the phone. I hear the two beeps on earphones and headphones but little/no static.

It's cheaper. PC motherboards are only _just_ starting to get isolated audio as a standard feature and think how long they've been around. To isolate components from other parts you need more room as well, something phones don't have.
Try pulling it in and out a few times and then wrot wipe the connector. I've read some making this work. Seems to be an oil or something in there.
Update. This did the trick for me!
