Sprint signal - Sprint LG G2

I have an lg g2 and my wife has an iphone 5c (i know :screwy and a galaxy tab 3 7.0, anyway my question is i can have all 3 devices in my lap and my g2 and her phone will only have 1 maybe 2 bars and lte while the tab thru sprint too has full bars and WAY BETTER speed test results is this a problem with my g2 or is that normal?

Each device displays signal bars differently to represent signal. You'll need an app that'll display network values.
Also Tablets tend to always have better radio than phones.

antenna is everything

[Q] Poor Signal strength?

I have had the G1 then the Mytouch 4G and now I have the Galaxy S II.
I am noticing in spots that I am having issues with internet connecting and then the bars are always lower than what they were with my HTC phones.
Is samsung known for bad reception with their phones?
or has anyone else noticed that this phone doesnt get as good signal as other phones?
I am in a 3G area .. but always have been and never had an issue with the HTC phones ...
Did u get a new sim with your phone??
sent from my real Gs move in silence like lasagna
Everything that I've read shows that the SGS2 has a stronger signal than the HTC Sensation or HTC Amaze. This has been covered by a large number of reviews. It is possible that your individual phone is bad.
I've had just about every android phone T-Mobile has and the sg2 definitely has the best reception. On my g2x I would only get 1 maybe 2 bars. I now have constant 3 sometimes 4.

I kind of agree.... Im always running on 2 bar in my house ... My wife has the mytouch 4g she constantly has 5 bar... I didn't use the sim card that came with the phone... Would that make a difference?, my sim card is less than 8 months old.
I have noticed this too....i have 2 Samsung Android phones. 1 GS2 from T-Mobile (with in-box SIM card installed) and second Samsung Galaxy S5830 bought outside US. At work, i have both the phones side by side and both on T-Mobile, i see that GS2 has 1-2 bars whereas my other Samsung shows full reception. So for me the radio on GS2 is definitely weak.
I've been having the same problems. I will have a 4g signal with no bars sometimes. The phone will be slow even on my wifi at home. The 4g signal almost never changes no matter where I am. Even if I have no signal. I have checked my settings to make sure its on auto for data. I live in Minneapolis, which has the 42mbps coverage. I am using the SIM from my Mytouch 4g. Maybe I need to get a new one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

HTC phones have more bars because they scale them to be more optimistic. -103dBm on a Samsung phone shows 1 bar. On my Sensation 4G it was up to -107dBm(2 bars to 1 bar, the lowest for 2 bars being -105dBm). -105dBm is 1 bar on the Galaxy S II.
GSM reception blows any HTC phone out of the water.

The myTouch 4G doesn't have 5 bars, it only has 4
The Galaxy S II could be picking up a weaker cell signal, have you checked to see if they are on the same cell tower?

My galaxy also has only 4 which on 2 are always highlighted, yes they are connected at the same tower but my getting 6497 kbps download speed... So im ok.
Ya.. I am using a newer uicc card.. But the new one that came with it a guy activated it to my home phone. Waiting on the sim swap now to go thru.
So i see some people have better signal and some have worse... Thats interesting.
A lot of it is static and cutting out for me.. Also sometimes it will show signal but the Internet wont connect... Which is most annoying?.
How do you check to see if they are on the same tower like someone said?

Hey guys I have a sgs2 i bought it about 2 weeks ago and i'm using it on the simple mobile network. I have a friend of mine that has a htc sensation with the same provider and i tested my phones data next to his and his was 4 times out 5 faster than mine . I rebooted the phone and tried it again and the same thing his was faster than mine do you guys think thats a signal issue on the gsg2. So what do you guys think?
Are you running the tests at the same time? In a non-DC area you will be sharing bandwidth so, run them after each other.
Yes I did run the test at the same time and I don't know what is non DC area.

Well, don't run them at the same time.. all of the tower bandwidth(speed) is shared between you and whoever else is on the tower, like WiFi and a broadband connection.
DC = Dual Carrier HSPA 3G/4G = 42Mbps capability, non 42Mbps areas will generally have the same speeds as other 4G phones with some higher bursts on the Galaxy S II depending on congestion.
I got down to -53 dBm today at the Orlando airport. I'd say that's pretty good signal strength!

Two other friends have smart phones with verizon and i have my old one and they all have full bars so my area should have good signal

The real reason behind pathetic weak Samsung signal

It's because it's SAMSUNG PEOPLE.
No one will admit if anyone has any experience with any Samsung device they should know compare an HTC or iphone or moto photon signal to any SPRINT SAMSUNG PHONE ITS NOT SPRINT.
It's the Samsung software or hardware that's been glitched since day one since the first epic
They all have weak signal u can compare a photon which is Motorola to this galaxy nexus
Galaxy s2, galaxy s3 any Samsung, WEAK SIGNAL PHONES, and not one person realizes this with comparing the experience of device to Device on the same network
. How can u get 5 constant bars on a photon or 2 or 3 on HTC evo or sprint I phone in the same area, but always 1 bar on Samsung phones All on the same network. ITS SAMSUNG SKIMPIN OUT ON THERE BUILD QUALITY whether hardware or software related, it pisses me off they persistently ROLL OUT brand new Devices all year and waist good phones cause they can't build a stronger signal phone.
So forget about complaining about signal issues it won't change until they figure the real reason out

It's Sprint. Sprint sucks. No problems here on VZW CDMA, even w/o having the JB radios.
My friend has the Sprint iPhone (the forbidden device) and it's super slow even when maxed.

I also have to disagree with this. My GSM Nexus on T-Mobile has been rock solid. GPS lock in about 3 to 5 seconds and never a drop call and data speed has been great. We all know the first T-959 Vibrants had GPS issues but I sent mine in and Samsung fixed it. I wonder if it has to do with location? Here in Chicago my friends who are still on Sprint always complain about dropped calls and loss of network. And they are all using a mix of phones from different mafs.
A lot of it also is how the phone handles the signal display. Some phones display a higher signal then others as like a placebo. 5 bars on a moto RAZR and 3 on my gnex and mine still wins in speed tests.

They don't. You could have 5 bars and 500k people on the same tower as you and you'll get better service with 1 bar and 50k people on the tower.

i have a huge issue. the nex wont hold 4g in my house. period. drops to 3g all the time. i have a thunderbolt that got constant 4g (strong enough to tether with) in a known verizon dead zone. you explain that
I figured by now that people, especially those who start threads complaining about signal would know better then to base it off of bars!!!!!!!
Thanks for your informative well constructed break down of why Samsung sucks because another phone showed more bars.
Thanks to you research I will never buy another Samsung device again. You are my hero :silly:

[Q] Download speed??

Hi all,
My question is does the Note II have a weak antenna compared to Note1 or does the Note II comming from Korea need an Aussie CSC/Modem to be able to performe at its peak in Aussie?
I finally took the plunge and bought the Note II.
Managed to Root, CMW, Back up with CMW and Tiatanium, also backed up EFS.
Still on stock as much as possible and mostly happy. The phone is vey smooth and fast. (came frome Note 1).
My question is related to the data speeds. I have a N7105 (SHV-E250K) from Korea, and the data speeds on the Aussie network Telstra are the fastest and slowest Ive seen.(see attached).
On my Note1 the speeds were constantly reasonable and I could live with them. ( I live about 1/2 hour from a large town). Note 1 could pick up 3G where I live, The Note II won't. Note II looses 4G and 3G soon after leaving town. Note 1 keeps getting 3G all the way Home.
As can be seen the 4G speeds are amazing. However not sure I can live with the G speeds

Agreed, but the difference between 40Mbps and 0.02Mbps cannot be explained by network congestion. All speed tests were outside (so no building interference) on a clear night. My thoughts are either hardware (antenna) or software (VPN/CSC). Could be wrong, but it is a huge drop to be explained by anything else. :-\

Okay, Maybe I should have been more clear.
When I'm in the 4G area Note 2 shows 4G is Fast++, Note 1 shows 3G and is fast+.
In the 3G area Note 2 Shows G (sometimes 3G) and is slow (reasonable speed when 3G shown). Note 1 shows 3G and is fast+
in G area Note 2 shows G and is very slow. Note 1 also slow but picks up 3G most of time (speed okay when showing 3G)
Basically Note 1 shows 3G in most areas whereas Note 2 only picks up 3G/4G near and in town
Will try to get a side by side comparison of the two phones in the same areas at the same time and screen shot

I think I know the source of your problem and hope the forum can solve it with a s/w Rom fix/advice...
Simply put you need quad band for UMTS(3G) to work properly in Oz.
E250K has UMTS(3G): 1900, 2100
N7105 and N7100 has UMTS(3G): 1900, 2100, 850, 900 aka quad band
For more info see google wiki whirlpool for frequencies used in australia and
Google wiki GN2 versions - I would have it the links but I'm new here and it won't let me (spam prevention).

T-Mobile Note 3 Poor LTE Reception

Just wanted to voice out and let you guys know that I have a T-Mobile Note 3 and have poor RF and lower LTE speeds than with my S4. In my office I would always get average 9-12 mb on LTE with an iPhone 5 and S4. With this Note 3 they don't pass 4-5 mb, I stopped by an area that I would always get speeds over 25+ and the most I got was 18mb. I really do hope it's a firmware modem issue because I'm really loving this phone so far. I was reading on the AT&T forums and some users are having the same issue, how about the users on T-Mobile like me?

At your APN Setting, change the APN Protocol to ipv4 only. That should make your LTE connection smoother.
I will try that but what about reception it went from 94-96 on an S4 to 109-112 on the Note 3 same spot.
I guess its the phone. Have the same problem like a lot of note 3 users. Poor reception. My note 2 has always have full bars on lte but on my note 1 bar.
Thinking of returning this phone and suffer the restocking fee than to settle less than what I use to have. Bit dont get me wrong I love the phone but what use is a phone if the reception is poor.
