Quick Memo+ wont hide from quick settings - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason i am not able to remove the Quick Memo+ icon from quick settings. Everytime i remove it from EDIT menu, the icon comes back after phone restart. Even if I move the icon to the last, it would come back to the first place after restart. Same goes for Quick Remote. Anyone else has seen this behavior? I dont know what to do.

same problem here... i also don't know what it is.
do you have g3 tweakbox installed?

I have nothing installed, not even rooted.

which version you are now? i'm on 10F

10G here.
For clarity. This problem started when I bricked my phone and restored it somehow. Since then I had to download the quick memo+ from LG update center.

Same here, using 10F - Just figured it was a bug

You will need to root your device and use titanium backup to uninstall it. Otherwise you can freeze it from apps.

SuperSU icon is gone.

I just went to look for SuperSU in my icon drawer and it is not there. I have checked 4 times and rebooted. I am almost sure it was there last week. All my rooted programs work fine, and SuperSU does show up in Application Manager/All, but not in TB. Is this anything I should be concerned with? I went to SuperSU in the playstore, and there is no option to install. Thx.

There is a zip to install it. QBking77 has it on his page or in many videos, I believe. Check his "How to root SGS3."

But it is installed and working. I have root access. I just can't find the icon to open it and change settings. I wonder if I re-install it, the icon will re-appear and everything will be fine. Just don't want to lose root.

Not sure if you are still running Goodness rom but on v4.0 SuperSU was moved to settings just like the updater. Wanted to post this just in case you still needed some more info.

Thank you so much for this! Quick google search lead me here. Couldn't find supersu!
Hello, i have the opposite problem. I do not want the supersu icon showing on phone....how do i make not show up without deleting the root???? And i am not talking about just hiding like samsung has option to hide/unhide icons. I don't want icon to be found. Thanks

the only way ive ever seen this accomplished is to have supersu baked into the ROM. If you got it done another way, let us all know please!
I had the same question. The SuperSU settings can be found in the Settings menu. It was kind of frustrating when it happened to me. I noticed that the SuperSU was properly working and prompting for root access when new rooted apps were installed, but I just couldn't find the app icon itself so I can enter the SuperSU settings.

Status/Notification bar is no longer visible

I attempted to flash a .zip patch to remove the QSlide Apps part of the notification drop-down menu, and since then I've been getting constant messages of "System UI has stopped" and the status bar does not show at all. Tried a factory reset on the phone itself but to no avail. Going to attempt to flash system stock ROM from a .zip ... any other suggestions / advice???
Thanks in advance

Why do you guys keep flashing things without making a backup first?! Unfortunately there is no other way for you to get back to working order; you have to LGPST back to stock. Next time make a backup if you're going to flash ANYTHING.

I had something simpler happen with exposed framework, my status bar would disappear then I would get an error "system UI has stopped" . Just un installed all modules and removed exposed. Not sure if you are using exposed. But that's how I fixed mine.
When the f*ck did we get ice cream??
Can a mod move this to the Q&A section please before it gets out of hand. Not flaming you bro but we as a community need to keep things in order and post where we are supposed to post. Don't worry we've all posted in the wrong section a time or two.

You dont need to flash the whole thing just overwrite LGSystemUI.apk with the original one I attached, set correct permission and reboot.
You should backup any file you decide to change first..luckily the phone will still boot with a bad systemui apk
Hopefully that fixes it, hopefully what he flashed didn't change any other files outside of Systemui.

Thanks for the apk and sorry about posting in the wrong forum at first.....
How exactly should I go about installing the new apk though? When I used Package Installer it keeps saying "Application not installed" and doesn't run. Sideload Wonder Machine or something equivalent maybe? I had a tough time today with setting up LGPST so I'd like to save that as a last resort if possible.... Thanks for the responses though!
Never mind....figured it out. Forgot it had to be pushed over.... Needless to say I need to spend some more time around Android! It's been a while since I first got in the game.
Status bar is back up and running, and it even maintained removal of the QSlide Apps portion, which is what I was trying to fix all along -- my original screw up! All's well that ends well I guess.
Thanks all for your help! :good:

[Q] OTA file location

Forgot to disable OTA updates and my phone downloaded it and now I have this notification that doesn't go away. Looked around using ES file browser but I can't find the location out the OTA file so I can delete it.
Anyone know the location of the OTA?

I'm one of the dummies that half-asleep clicked on the OTA update and am now softbricked. In looking around the potential solution threads I saw that long pressing the notification should dismiss it. Just a warning, I haven't tried fixing my phone as of yet, so I'm not sure if this advice is right.

That sucks. Look for "I softbricked my T-Mobile G3" under the questions thread. I think there's 2 fixes in there if you haven't checked yet. Idk if they'll work for you but worth a try if haven't seen them yet.
I read an adb fix somewhere that supposedly came from the G2 forums that supposedly worked too.
Good luck!
I'm just going to wait to find the location to delete, don't want to try and ling click and some kind of earthquake or something happen and end up just single clicking it. Lol

Yeah I saw the adb fix for the G2 and was hoping to have someone confirm that it is fine for the G3 too. I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I don't want to dig myself into a deeper hole.
Hope you find your answer!

There are 3 tgings for you to freeze
Software Update
Update Center
App Updates
I had the same problem thats a solid fix and should be working on every occasion like that.
Long press on the notification to enter app info and from there turn off notifications
I just use "notification off" app > uncheck googleplayservices > to hide the annoying notification.
Hello, I have this weird thing after trying to update to V30c... I received OTA (~230mb), downloaded and pressed to install but nothing happens, it just reboots the phone without performing the upgrade. So what I did connected it to PC and updated via LG mobile tool don't know why but the size was (1.3GB) unfortunately after upgrading I still receive the notification which I don't need as I already upgraded via PC... Anyone knows how to solve this?
If you're rooted, you can use the 'disableService' app from playstore. Then System / Google Play Services / SystemUpdateService, uncheck it. Problem solved.

Only it doesn't solve the problem. Just froze it with TB, but the notice persists. D851 stock MM V30D rooted. Also have SystemUpdateService disabled via app disableService from playstore, which got rid of the OTA notices for OS versions, but won't disable this compatibility patch notification.
EDIT: Notification gone now, probably had to reboot for it to evaporate.
EDIT2: Came back a day or so later, so that method was a no-go for me. Didn't want to try the long press to see if it could be dismissed via option presented in response to that action

[Q] How do I stop the System Update notification from popping up

Hey guys, my S3 recently downloaded some system update to my phone that I don't want. I'm rooted and I don't want to lose root. I'm not interested in the system update either. How can I remove this notification from popping up constantly? It sometimes gives me an option to click "later" under the notification which sends it away, but a new notification for the system update immediately pops up again. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have the same issue. I have no idea what this system update is, or how to turn it off.
EDIT: I think this is the NJ2 update. Strangely enough, the upgrade notification remains even after I ran the upgrade. Maybe this threat can help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249350

What app is sending you these notifications? File Manager? App Manager?
Hold down on the notification until you see a bell and an i. Hit the i to get information.
There should be a box that says notifications on the app info... Uncheck that. Reboot the phone and see if it appears again (It shouldn't).

If you're on Lollipop:
Hold down on the notification and get the info. Make sure it's unchecked (Could be a different app sending that one).
If it's already unchecked:
Go to your settings and find "Notification Manager". Enter this and hit "App notifications". Find the app that sent the above notification and tap on it. Now you can adjust it and set priorities and whatnot. For this, block notifications from it.
This may block notifications for system updates as well, but you can still check it manually. Plus, system updates don't happen very often so not seeing it won't really matter.
EDIT: Misunderstood what you meant... I underlined what to do in your case.
Edit 2: I'm running a custom ROM and that's how I would do it in my case. I failed to remember that the stock ROM may not have added these features, so you can also do this (for sure) but going to your settings and hitting apps, then scrolling over to all. Find the app manager (or whatever app uses the same icon as the one sending you the notifications) and click on it. Now you can uncheck the displaying of notifications from it.

Read that^^^
Also, unchecking notifications from "Google Service Framework" may remove notifications for these type of updates.
If you are rooted and already have SuperSU you can download Titanium backup and uninstall any app from your phone. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE SOME APPS ARE IMPORTANT. Also, make sure you backup the file before removing it via titanium (backup through titanium backup) in case you for some reason need it back. This may or may not remove the prompt to update the app, but way back when (if I remember correctly) it did for me.

Glad to hear it! If you ever have any more questions feel free to PM me.
Also, I would highly recommend you try out a free app called "LG Tweaks Box". It'll make your phone feel so much better and have tons of customization!
I'm not sure if this even/still applies but when I was on KitKat (LG G3 2GB) I rooted my device then used either Root Explorer or ES File Explorer File Manager and looked in the data\op folder on device and deleted anything I didn't want (mainly anything carrier related which was all of the H3G_COM folder (30 items) as it was a 3 UK handset) then reflashed firmware and wiped device and I have never had any apps forced on me since, i've even disabled auto restore of apps from Google Play on first sign in so I can be choose what I wanted installed at each reflash/wipe.
Back up the OP folder first as It is handy for later if ever needed
Again not sure if this even/still applies
Hope that helps
Thanks for the reply
But sorry to say that my Data/Op folder has no Carrier APPs
i have done a full search on phone an just cant find the junk
i still have a message saying i have 15 APPs to update even with APP update frozen with RootUninstaller

Try installing them then using titanium backup to remove them completely including all files.
