I have xperia arc s, and it's extremely slow. For example, I want to opet Whatsapp, and it opens 10 seconds after clicking on the icon. Same slowness is everywhere else. It's also extremely laggy, whether I do something simple or complex. Like it's using 10% of it's power. I did a factory reset, still slow. Then I've rooted it and flashed custom rom, still nothing, slowness is also here.
Is there any way to fix this? What could be the problem?
Thank you
what rom you have? ICS?
try a KK rom

use legacy xperia rom as suggested above at best kitkat
That's my secondary phone so it's just rooted, I cannot flash that ROM. But even with stock ROM, this phone should be a lot faster, my old Xperia X8 was 3 time faster!
Is it possible that the hardware is somehow damaged?

I had x8 too n was faster but was also on gb. Ics is slow n laggy. I run UHD5 on mine n it lags after a while. Unless u unlock bootloader n flash new kernel u might just have go bk to gb or deal with it.

Have you ever thought that older android versions require less RAM and resources to work as compared to their newer counterparts? Even if KitKat has been optimized to work on low RAM devices, it still has many functions that require more RAM and resources. It's that simple.

Stock is too good. But with root only.
Custom ROMs are already modyfied and that's save you to modify stock rom.
So they all good...but biggest differents is "do you want make all work yourself, or you take someone already done this hard work"

IMHO both is good
stock rom have better battery life, xloud, and SE UI is cool !
custom rom(cm7) is good(better camera, themes support) but battery life not good as se stock rom.
i still prefer stock rom

I have trying other rom cm7.1, miui, games run smoother on stock.

Stock --> Stable, all functions working properly.
Custom--> Though stable, not all functions and hardware of your phone will work until implemented.

well for me stock is good with better camera than cm7 rather than what tyrand3 stated...have xloud and bravia engine..but will lag if more and more of usage and app download...im using cm7 right now, and all the lag is gone with the overclocked and system optimization. but no radio....
the theming is great and i customize it to be as perfect as i can..my friend have arc to, and they using stock rather than me but my arc is stand out than most of them....still have batery drain issue though but stock isnt much better either...
its all up to you..you can try to root and use the different rom that has been built, if you dont like it you can change back to stock rom...the guide is all in here if your interested....

I've gone for the best of both at the moment...
Stock ROM: stable, no faults, looks quite pretty!
DoomKernel: rooted, overclocking, extra features
Until CM7 develops some more and has all the features of the stock ROM as a MINIMUM, I won't be changing from what I've got now .
CM 7 is far good than stock rom in speed, there is no lag like stock rom
but no radio
Previously Gameloft games was not running smoothly, now problem solved
More internal memory and all apps are now downloaded at sd so no more out of memory notification..themes are great, right now i'm using ICS theme, it's cool..
Missing one feature Facebook calendar sync....

I also really like se stock rom (for a change)
And as already said stock rom is good only with root.

SE Tweaked v0.7 is super smooth with all stock features. Teamed with Doomkernel it is blindingly fast or with Blendkernel for smoothness and good battery. I have tried CM7 and SE Tweaked is better if only because you still get the Bravia engine.

No probs. I was one of the first to try SE Tweaked V0.1 and saw the improvement there over stock. I had a go with the first three weeklies from the FXP team and thought that they are doing a great job but the one thing I couldn't get over was how dull the display looked. That is why I am back with your ROM and V0.7 is really really good. I have OC'd to 1.6gHz and I must say the Arc is completely lag free and very fast with a super bright display.

Have you actually tried ICS? It sucks all your RAM, and multitasking is almost impossible. If I open Twicca, or Opera, and press home after that, my launcher (Apex Launcher) always redraws. Phone also lags quite a lot.

We waited ICS very long time and if it arrived we CAN'T SAY ITS BAD because we waited very very long time.
That's why all saying "its so good, its best....."
And my personal opinion is...right now is ICS crap..2.3.3-2.3.7 is way better right now. In future yes...maybe ICS becomes to good.
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
Yes, but currently it is just a beta, it ain't stable yet, and the battery life is bad.
It's stable for me (apart from a lot of redraws), and battery life is superb. Way better than gingerbread.
My personal stock based ROM is undoubtedly XperiaMod 6.. Just awesome..!
I love Shyamsasi's work and that's why when there are different custom roms available for ICS, I decided to flash XPeriaMod ICS only.. n it also rocks.. Far better than Arconium ICS.. Just a drawback that u cant overclock with the kernel by it.. But not a problem actually..
Acronium 7.2.....indeed! :-D

Hi,
since updating ICS, my ARC lag enormously.
If I disable the stabilistaeur is a little better. but I still lags.
I tested a lot of ROMs but the problem is still there ...
I also tried a class of SC-CARD 4: it makes no difference
Have you an idea to correct this problem?
should I unlocks my boot-loader and I installed an unofficial kernel?
and if yes, what ROM to choose?? with which kernel?
I hope not to be obliged to return in GB ... :crying:

I can't seem to find a Rom that im just 100% happy with. I've tried various GB and ICS roms but still am not happy. I like to play the Asphalt racing series and every rom I've tried on still lags. My Xperia Play 4G I've had unbranded bootloader unlocked and have tried cyanogenmod 7 and 9, I've tried the official ICS, nxt, true ancestor, and various other roms. I don't understand swap file or swap partition usage. Im also a user of supercharger v6 script which im not sure if it actually works. Please advise me.

i plan to flash this ROM to my Xperia Play , and i plan to unlock the bootloader of my device

Yes thats the ics Rom im talking about. I call it official because Sony has been helping that developer finish it. But asphalt 6 and 7 lag on it but very playabe. GTA 3 is unplayable.(same with all ics roms) nova 3 lags. Gingerbread is just what our xperia plays are meant to run. PsXperia games converted for GB are also unsupported. Meaning only ps1 games can play on ics are the small list of officials from the store. so if you want a gaming phone stay with a GB stock or custom rom. Im using 2.3.3 stock with lupus kernel o.c. to 1500ghz and supercharged

hmmm so some games is still uncompatible with the ROM :crying: even the converted ps pocket games with PSXperia :crying:
but isn't ICS has improved memory management for running apps ? then why the game is more laggy & incompatible
based on your testimonial i guess i cancel my plan to unlock bootloader and flash this ICS ROM + custom kernel , for now
until markphyton can make the very stable release ( let's just hope so ) hehehe
i currently using Xperia NXT 1.3 KrisDee with stock kernel ( locked bootloader ), i found this stable custom ROM for GB and great gaming performance
but i have found a few small problem like , missing DLNA feature , cannot like track in music player ( like on facebook ) , cannot sync with senseMe & cannot charge the battery in OFF posistion
Ive had a bad experience gaming on ics. I dont necessarily say ics is unstable. It has came leaps and bounds from where it was on xperia Play its just I think these devices lack the extra hardware requirements. I.e. Cpu,gpu, ram. Gingerbread unfortunately being outdated is still the most stable for gaming. You can still achieve dlna by using es file explorer and setting up ftp with your router, pc. I access all my home files everywhere on my phone.
