Hello everyone,
I just rooted my beloved G Pad, as I'm fed up with the SD card issue of unmounting, mounting, ejected, removed by itself.
I am running 4.4.2 stock - no ROM, stock but rooted.
Installed SD Fix, ran the app. Was good for one day and this morning - BAM! I noticed that message saying - card was unmounted improperly...
So - correct me if I am wrong but I thought rooting my G Pad and installing the SD Fix app should have addressed this.
Am I missing anything? Such an annoyance this SD card issue.
Appreciate any inputs.

SD Fix solves a permissions issue, not the unmounting/bad removal issue. In my case my bad removals dropped dramatically when I got a different sd card. However that fix doesn't work for everyone either. LG will tell you to factory reset, but please make sure to complain to their support line anyway since it might make them wake up to the issue and then try and address it.

Thanks Muiriddin for setting me straight with regards to SD Fix. :good:
I had replaced my SD card once and yes, it was not unmounting/mounting for about a month then BAM - dismounts, removals, etc, etc.
I have also called in LG Tech Support - they wanted me to ship my tab to them. The person I spoke said that they were unaware of the issue. I said, does this call make you aware of the issue now? Silence...LOL!!

If it was not happening at first and is now try reformatting the card. That can help sometimes...

Okay, i'm new here but reading all of your threads is just confusing me.. there is so much conflicting information.
To begin, I bought my phone HTC EVO at the sprint store before i was even considering this thing called "rooting". I did the OTA update, didnt know any better at the time... however I did toast's root and I honestly have no idea if i got it to work or not but I was able to do the ad blocking thing and what not.....
I started having an Sd card error on my camera, telling me i had "insufficient rights" to the card...
and the video camera in Qik simply didnt acknowledge that there was a card at all and to insert one.
Now. I attempted the OTA, to fix the SD card, and i thought it worked at first but then it acted up again.....
Now i'm hearing this thing about Unrevoked?? if i have already done it toasts' way can i still run unrevoked or is it advised that i flash it back to stock rom and wipe all my data AGAIN....
anyways heres the funny thing...
i had an extra 8GB micro sd card from my Touch Pro 2, and I put in my EVO and formatted it... and.... now everything works fine....
my version is still 1.32.651.1
What should I do now? Since im not having any problems since i changed the card...
is there data on that card is necessary? or that i can just transfer over?
I dont want to perform the OTA again, but i know if i did it would answer alot of questions based on the result...
I need advice...
Please
Class 6 works perfect for me
I havent had any problems since I changed my sd to a class 6

well actually it does since it was caused by a rooting issue by one of your other members and i didnt know whether to respond to it in its thread but it had to do with other subjects such as alternative rooting methods and what the next course of action since this issue is currently going on. sorry if I couldnt find the place to put it. but otherwise it just would have gone into the thread which people are still asking what root is.
A friend of mine had some problems and asked if I could look into it for him. I've never owned an Incredible so I don't really know much about it. I figured I'd post here and see if you guys can help.
Here's what he sent me:
"So I've got an Incredible and recently its been prompting me to do updates when I'm pretty sure my phone is up to date. So I click update and it says its going to reboot and then never does. So this morning I wake up and its like internal SD card cannot be read or something to that extent. But what's weird is that all my music still works but all my custom ringtones are broke. It's like the 8GB SD card is working, but the internal memory is failing. What do? "
Any ideas?

I assume its rooted, thats why the update wont go thru. As for the memory, does a reboot fix it?
Does this user also understand the concept of safely ejecting his phone before removing it from the computer (most importantly after moving, editing, or pasting files)?
Chances are, his sd card and internal memory could use a good 'disc checking' from a windows computer.. Lol

My cousin called me yesterday complaining of the same thing. He stated that he has been recieving OTA updates for the phone on a daily basis lately and since the first update has been getting an internal memory low popup on his Incredible.
His phone is NOT rooted and completely stock with the original SD card. Would like help from anyone else having this issue and knows what the deal is with the multiple OTA's coming in and killing memory.
Okay, here is what needs to happen if you are to get rid of that error..
Go to cyanogenmod and follow the wiki to root and ROM your phone...
Or, do the update...
Now, i would strongly recommend the first choice, as oppose to the second..
The stock software is disgusting.
Rooted cm7 will not only run a lot better for you, but you will be more up to date than the ota update.
You're phone most likely is running out of internal memory, because it is downloading the update and storing it in preparation.
Just do a google search for cyanogenmod, go to their site, click your device, then click the related wiki page..
Follow the instructions and check back here on xda if you have any questions.
Good luck

For the update to succeed, the phone has to be plugged into the wall charger.

I have two cards. A Samsung 32GB class 10 and a Sandisk microSDXC ultra 64GB
Both cards were tried, both formatted in FAT32 as well as ExFat and tried sdformatter.
BUT my galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition with CND1 (Columbia Kit Kat) after some hours of use, loses the SD card.... It cannot see it until a couple of reboots.
Do you think its because of a bad flash? Should I try CND2?
Opinions please

If you are rooted , just install "Folder mount" , it will cure your ext. sd problem.

unfortunately im not rooted as i want to keep the warranty (already used it twice for screen and battery replacement)
I just flashed the US Kit kat via odin, did a factory reset and can only hope the problem goes away. Do you think it may be a hw fault? Anybody else had similar issues?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that with kit kat you can't put stuff on a SD card anymore unless you use a SD fix.If you look around forum there is some information about it. I think you also need to be rooted but might be wrong about that. I think there is a app in market called SD fix.

Incorrect. You can use also with KitKat and unrooted as before. The only restriction is that downloaded apps can write only in their own app directory. And this all have nothing to do with the recognizion of the sd-card.

Until now, I didn't see that someone had a related problem.
I hope for you that it was a bad flash. Otherwise I would try to clean the caches and then a reflash but here also clean the cashes. And normally it is better to remove sd-cards before a flash but I also didn't do it.
I performed a factory reset, cleared cache, then flashed the US Kit Kat, again factory reset. Everything works... but after a 15 minute music listening or just out of the blue, the SD card (tried a Samsung formated FAT32) is not responding.
I don't think its a hardware issue, because this time under "storage" i can see the card. However I cannot play anything from it and if I unmount and re-mount it says that the file system is not supported or the card is damaged.
This is soooooo weird and disturbing....
Hi Guys,
I'm on Temasek's CM11, been using this Sony 64GB microSD card for over a year, and today, randomly while the phone was in use, I saw a message pop up, SD card unexpectedly unmounted. After that, it's not using up in the file systems, all the way down to the Recovery. I'm using TWRP.
I put the SD card in another Note 3 I have and everything seems to be fine on there, all the data is here.
So just posting here to make sure that is it safe to conclude that my SD card slot is fried?
And if so... What are my options... I have had the Note 3 for over a year and brought it off of Craigslist. It's unlocked and use it on AT&T...
So any ideas or advice friends? And yes, I pressed the SD card firmly in my Note 3 many times...
Thank you!
Anyone guys?
have you tried a different sd card? Also is your phone rooted if so try to access it in recovery. if so then something in the system messed up and a restart of your phone could fix it or a new rom. good luck hope it's not fried :-\

Thanks bud for your response! Yes, another sd doesn't show up in the phone, but works in another phone. And no, Recovery does not pick it up either .
Looking to move to another ROM, want to try Android 5.0, but really want to make sure I can come back to KK if I want to. The fact that sd is not showing up in recovery is really discouraging, but also, there are no signs of sd card slot being fried either like a smell or anything.
Please keep responding folks, if you have any ideas! Thank you!
Your using CM11 killed the sdcard slot in your Note 3. No use crying after spilled milk. Stick to stock rom next time.

I just bought a brand new Samsung class 10 sdcard, and my phone always says it's corrupted. Twrp recognizes it fine, my computer does, but the OS does not. I keep trying to reformat it in settings but nothing changes, as soon as it finishes it says it's corrupted.
Any suggestions?

The card may not be broken, there is a known issue with the way htc devices format large cards.
Small corruptions will eventually lead to problems.
Use SD card formatter from the net, you'll need to do this on your pc. Don't format on your phone as it can cause problems. I had issues with an official, 128GB SanDisk card, since using that it's been fine.
I bought a Samsung Pro Plus UHS-1 32 GB card from Best Buy, don't see how I would've gotten a fake.
This same problem happened with my other sandisk 64gb card, and it was working fine, but I forgot what may have triggered the issue as it's been awhile.

I've tried formatting it with my PC, using the standard formater included with the OS on Windows. Like I said it's brand new. I'm going to go exchange it today but open the box in the store and try a different card just to be sure.
There have been a lot of posts about SD card problems in the LeeDrOiD thread. Try using a different kernel if you're on clumsy. ElementalX seems to work, and Clean Slate definitely does -- I'm using it myself. Also try to format exfat on the phone instead of on your PC.
Most likely it's not the card, as it seems to be an issue for many HTC 10 users.

It has nothing to do with the kernel, it's the way the phone formats it. Use the app ive suggested and you'll be fine.

A hardware fault seems the least likely and most difficult diagnosis. I'd try a few more fixes at least, including dladz's suggestion.
Not an expert by any means -- I'm just summarizing what I saw elsewhere -- but there are a lot of posts about SD card problems and a few suggestions that there's a bug in the stock HTC kernel.

Personally I would RUU to stock to test, and then install a new custom ROM if that didn't work -- can't think of anything more frustrating than having to exchange the phone! Good luck.
EDIT: Every solution I've come across has to do with the kernel or formatting the card on a PC. Make sure the kernel and the firmware are a good match, too.

Damn, well I guess I'll flash the RUU.
Funny thing is, is that I can use my SD card in twrp. I'll make a custom recovery.img and put that on the root of my sdcard to flash back twrp.

I suspect the software too. This started for me after updating to the latest OTA 1.91.617.1. It(Sandisk 128GB) worked fine prior to that.
I tried formatting on PC using the windows method and also the SDFormatter application with no luck. The card works fine in TWRP but doesnt as soon as I boot the phone(Stock OS). The same card works fine in an old HTC EVO 4G LTE and Galaxy S3.

I might just downgrade later on, this is ridiculous that this can happen. Gotta wait til after work.
When I got my HTC 10 unlocked sd cards worked fine and then I put the Verizon ruu on it a couple days later any SD card I tried showed corrupted but did not in twrp or in my other phone so I restored my phone to stock and they have worked fine since.
I'm having this same problem! My card was working just fine, but after I tried doing an OTA update on my rooted HTC10 every SD card I put in is somehow corrupt, despite working fine on every other device. Is there a fix?
Oh, restoring a backup before the error popped up fixed it.
