Any new S-Off way yet?

Is there a new way to achieve S-Off ? I tried Firewater but I get the message that HTC has blocked that way of getting s-Off I guess cause my phone was updated.

Ok thanks, $25 isn't bad at all I'm surprised cause all my other phones I've ever did S-Off on the software was free but I don't mind supporting the developers, they deserve it. Thanks again

It is better to give 25$ to unlock everything rather than to pay some guy who only sim unlocks it.

Yeah I agree and it's the least I could since I'm always flashing a Rom or mod that someone makes and doesn't charge, so I always like to give back to this community of developers. This community has always been there for me thru every phone I've had, and the people that use it always help each other out. Can't wait till payday cause it's the first thing I'm doing with my paycheck lol

On http://theroot.ninja/ i downloaded the APK, im going to have to install a stock rom due to it says it wont work on insert coins rom, but a quick question before i do any of that when does it ask me to donate the $25 ? after it runs its test to make sure it works and also what kind of payments do they accept? if anyone knows thanks in advance everyone!

Ahh i thought it was the htcdev method that gave you tampered flag and red text as when i used htcdev to unlock my one s a few years ago i got tampered and red text before i flashed custom recovery and gained s off

It does the same as One S but with S-Off you can change it.

Droid DNA
Any other way to pay becos m in Nigeria and none of the payment methods seems to work or any oda free unlock bootloader and s-off method for hboot 1.57 and kitkat 4.4.2 on Droid DNA

Hello. I have an HTC ONE M8 CID : ORANG001. Bootloader LOCKED and S-ON. Running : Android 4.4.3
It is carrier unlocked, I can use whatever sim I like with this phone. Now, I want to get rid off ORANG001 and change it with a HTC__001 or some other CID so I can receive updates directly from HTC.
Does anyone know some safe steps to accomplish this ? Or I can change somehow the recovery with another one ? I think ORANG001 means that is orange stock recovery. It's not carrier locked, but still, I want to replace the ORANG001.

You need s-off to chance your cid...
After this you can play with you phone as you wish, even convert it to GPE edition...

Only if you have stock rom and recovery. But if you go that far down, may as well download it from here and flash it yourself.

UPDATE : I just unlocked the bootloader. I want to root the device but what TWRP should I flash ?
UPDATE : Rooted the device and installed SuperSU via TWRP. Next, getting S-OFF.
UPDATE : I get this message while flashing firewater : firewater can not work on your device.
Until I manage to S-OFF can I flash through TWRP a custom ROM like CM for example ? Or S-OFF is a must for doing this ?

For firewater yes, I'm not familiar with the other methods.
If it's saying it doesn't work for your device, you're out of luck, unless you try the other methods. Which you do at your own risk obviously.

Sunshine? I forget the names.
You only need an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery to install custom roms.

You can flash whatever rom you like without s-off...
S-off is required to write to all partitions, change cid and so on (google and xda are your friends)... You can still achieve this by flashing a stock-like rom like arhd or maximus te and paying 25 bucks to Sunshine developers...

Sunshine requires the stock sense rom .. i hope you made a nandriod
or you can just flash this

Are you sure you need s-off?
From your posts, I can plainly tell you are a noob. (no offence, that just what we call the new to rooting people here.)
S-on is there to protect your device from becoming bricked when you flash something you shouldn't be.
With S-off, if you screw up, your $700 phone might be turned into a paperweight with absolutely zero chance that the warranty is still valid.
If you want my advice, don't go S-off till you know what you are doing.

The thing is, on the Q&A, I get sick of the same questions over and over and over.
And also, people getting into soft brick trouble because of s-off.

My device came with 4.4.4 out of the box. I've unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev but the problem is that I can't get S-OFF on firewater. What can I do about it? Is there a free way of S-OFF my device or get back to 4.4.2? I want to convert to GPe. Please help. Sunshine is too pricey.

Pay is the only way currently I had to do it as well as many others 25 May be a bit pricey but it's worth it

Thanks for reply, considering that I paid 300$ for this phone on sale that is a bit pricey to me. Maybe I can restore from a TWRP backup? To 4.4.2 so I can unlock with firewater.

S-off is not a exploit that checks your rom. It also checks the bootloader. Downgrading software won't help at all !
Pricey 25$ for s-off on a 300$ phone....many paid around 600$ ! But that's for everyone their own.
Sunshine is the only way and its a paid way.

How to get s-off without sunshine

Hi guys. My m8 was s'onned on 4.4.4 and I'd lost my wifi. So I read somewhere you needed to downgrade and flash the OTA manually and for that I needed s'off. Now I really wouldn't mind paying the devs of sunshine 25$ for s'offing because let's face it, they're awesome and they probably have to charge much more for all the work they put in. But unfortunately for me, I'm a kid in my 12th grade and my dad isn't gonna buy me anything but guides for my studies LOL.
I couldn't use firewater because it said htc patched my device and I was out of luck.
So, on a hunch what I did was I flashed cm 11 and then I tried firewater and surprise!! it worked!! my device was s-off'ed
anyway after that I had to go back to the 4.4.3 stock and then upgrade using OTA and everything was alright.
So what I'm basically saying is if you're a cheap bastard like me and can't pay for sunshine and you love sense, you should try that method above. I can't guarantee it'll work for you but it's worth the try, eh?
Note: Please use the above method only if you cannot pay for sunshine. Plus sunshine is much easier to use and you don't have to go through all this hassle

Not really. It was closest to stock as possible. I had the stock HTC Indian rom on 4.4.4.
Anyway, maybe I had a lucky device? Just posted this in case it helps someone like it did me.

Can't use Android 6.0 ROMs

I have tried lots of Android 6.0 based ROMs available right now ( maximusHD, Viper,CM Nightly, etc..) but non of them really worked. My phone is on 2.x.xx.x firmware and running maximusHD 6.0. Please help !!!

You need to upgrade your firmware. MM roms won't run on 2.xx firmware. This has been discussed about eighty bajillion times.

Are there any ways to upgrade my firmware without S-OFF it? Finding a person to perform S-OFF on my phone is very hard in my area so i just wanna ask

Not sure why you need someone to soff your phone. You download the sunshine app let it run its test then pay for it in 5 minutes your soff

The only other way is to get a java card or xtc clip and do it yourself. But that will cost far more than sunshine.
