not sure if you have tried this, but make sure the usb charger is plugged into the mains charger all the way in...mine was the same, saying usb charging and it was the cable itself

Yep. For some reason LG decided to go with a USB charger for the phone rather than straight to the mains...
Mine takes about 3 hours to charge fully, when plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi. You have to remember, the G3 has a big battery, bigger than some other phones, so you have to expect it to take longer. I plug it into my USB 3.0 port on my PC when I'm on it and it seems to charge faster (Although my motherboard has the option to turbo a port for charging so it may just be me).

Could just be that LG has set the phone up to detect all chargers as USB considering it comes with a USB charger...
Not sure if that's the reason why but it very well could be.

hello.
i have arhd 3.3, 12.41 radio.
i put my phone into wall socket last night at 23 30 and this morning at 5:30 phone was still charging at 73%. at 6 30 it was at 83%. then i switched it off and back on, pluged the charger in, and the led went green in like 2 minutes.
what's this? i have the phone for 3 days now. does it take that long to charge or is it a rom problem? i am using the original charger.
looks like a rom problem. Best way to know will be trying different roms.
dont know if it is a rom problem. i think is a radio problem.
install current widget and see what the input milli ampage is. This should give you an idea of if your having a charging issue. Also when you have charged to true 100% (Not when the LED goes green but when current widget says you are no longer receiving a current (0 Mah)) then reboot to recovery and wipe the battery statistics.
I can't see the radio giving you an issue on charging, unless it was using almost more juice than you are putting in. The only time I have ever seen that behaviour is when using a USB charging cable and navigation at the same time.
Hope this helps.
i am using the charger that came with the device that uses indeed an usb cable connected to it.

I meant a USB only (not original) charger. As the charger supplied is actually a wall charger and is rated to supply the device with more "juice" than a standard USB socket (i think are rated for 1mah charging??)
The scenario I am using is when you use a phone for navigating and have it plugged into a 12v socket in a car using a USB adapter which will only give the lowest permitted power rating.
so......i think i have a problem.
when i plug the phone into the wall socket it says charging(usb)
when i plug it in laptop usb using the cable the same charging(usb).
wasn't it supposed to say charging(ac)?

Not sure about that, but even so my DHD will charge from flat in less time than yours was plugged in, how warm / cold was the room you had the phone charging in? Possibly it's getting too hot whilst charging which would lead to the phone reducing the charge rate?
now it;s on charge from about 30 min. it's not even warm. the battery is reported to have 27*
You might be having a damaged battery try replacing it with a new one.
the phone is new.
could it be because of setcpu 230-1228?

Yes I think it's supposed to say charging AC. Try cleaning the usb connectors thoroughly.
Yeh being informed that it is chargng over USB when in the well is definitely wrong. I suggest trying to get another cable or something like a newer style blackberry charger.

When the phone is off and plugged into the wall, it charges. When the phone is on, and I plug it into the wall or computer, the phone doesn't know it's plugged in.
I ordered a brand new usb charging flex jack and replaced the old one, still the same problem. What gives?
EDIT: I am stock. Not rooted.
Does this happen on the original cable also?
Have you tried wiping?
Is Fast Charge on?
Fk. It doesn't even charge from the wall! When the phone is off, it has the animation that says it's charging when i plug it in the wall. I left it plugged into the wall overnight. This morning I took a look at the phone, and it didn't charge!
Oh noez, what should i do?
Also, I don't have the original cable. I'm using an HTC one.
EDIT: Dafuq?! I found an LG charger. Apparently the phone knows that it's charging when I charge with that. The thing is, that charger is just a charger; it's not a usb cable+ an adaptor. So I can't use it for adb and such.

You should mention what ROM you're on (and version) so that no one else makes the same mistake I did in assuming you had a custom ROM and that Fast Charge is on. It's a feature that makes sure that whatever charges it is recognised as AC 1amp charger as some chargers aren't designed well enough (I believe it involves a single solder point) to report themselves as capable of 1A. If it doesn't report as AC to Android, it will charge at 500mA instead (it assumes USB power). It sometimes causes problems with connecting to PC via USB.
Get another USB cable, this time none of that fancy **** go straight to OE Samsung or something.
=O I thot all usb cables are made equal! So I can't use an HTC usb cable? The dude didn't sell me the phone with a cable T.T
Also, I'm stock. I am not even rooted.
My nexus just started acting stupid when I plug it in also.
Mine sat in a drawer for a few weeks and when I plugged it in to charge, it wouldn't.
What I did was this.
plug device into charger
remove battery for a few seconds
replace battery
press power button
phone powered up and began charging.
Even now, it still sometimes doesn't recognize the charger and I have to unplug and plug it in until it does.
I use a rocketfish cable.

Some devices are picky, you'd think that all USB cables are made equal (I did too) but some just don't work well with certain devices. I've had printers th... wait printers always have **** problems... I've had uh... usb extensions not work well with some Wifi dongles and such. My old milestone didn't like the Samsung cable either (yet the Moto cable works perfectly on gnex)
=O. Then it has to be the usb cable! No way it's not!
I ordered one on ebay =D
Rooted Gnex here I come!

Thank you dmappdev,
I followed your procedure (feel like talking about surgery here, which isn't too far from topic); I'm convinced that it helped in some way, directly or indirectly... as at first, my Galaxy S Advance still wouldn't recognize/charge my phone with:
1. its own charger,
2. my old Galaxy Ace's charger,
3. a universal wall usb plug used with the S Advanced own USB-to-USBmini cable.
My last idea was to use, quote: an old Nokia USB cable connected to my PC... and that worked.
I was much too happy my phone had remembered how to charge to stay mad... But I still tried those three means for charging again, and only the phone's original charger worked now. So the phone's charging ability has been "awakened" in some way, but only for the original charger ...technology is improving, but not the ethics on making life easier for the consumer.
All this was yesterday. This morning (there's more, yes), I saw my phone indicating a 100% charge although it had been disconnected from charge for several hours - something that had already happened once yesterday, before the unable-to-charge situation; a simple reboot took care of the problem, the battery status now showing a more realistic 53%.
Any comments to any of the above? If not, thanks again for your tip anyway !!!
I've had some trouble charging my new tablet.
When I first received the tablet, I plugged it in to the supplied cable and allowed it to charge to 100%.
I used it for a day to run the battery down.
I then left it plugged in to the computer with a standard cable for 11 hrs.
It appears that it didnt charge at all.
Now I drove all the way back to my office to test it again with the factory supplied cable and it does appear to be charging slowly but it is totally discharged.
I've experienced intermittent issues with charging. Seems like it prefers but doesnt require the samsung charger/cable. Are the voltages and everything the same?
Yeah, seems like it wont charge on a usb port. Only seems to rocognize the supplied samsumg charger...

Do you see that the battery icon has a red X over it when you have it plugged into the computers USB port. The tablet needs the power that the supplied Samsung charger puts out to charge that big battery.
On page 9 of the users manual it says "Note: You cannot charge the battery using the USB cable and
your PC"
.
so is it just a 2A usb charger?
When it's got the red cross over the battery symbol (when it's plugged into a computer USB or car charger etc) it does still charge, but very slowly. Probably only with the screen off.

It charges with any standard charger. I use non-samsung charger and it charges fine, in fact I have not removed the original charger from the box.
As with USB it does charge but really slowly, while it shows not charging.
I believe that a standard USB is 1A and the note 2014 is 2A. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, this is correct, my standard Galaxy S4 is 1A, however a computer may put out even less than this.

No. Standard USB 2 port supplies 0.5A. USB 3 port will supply like 1.5A or less. As for USB 2, you may install (if motherboard supports it) ASUS Ai Charger so that it supplies 1A.
I have gigabyte mb and it has its own driver to over supply usb 2 current. With that I have about %6/hour charging rate if screen is off. Using Samsung own charge, I got about %24/hour.
PS: Look like my desk usb 2 port supplies .5A only (%6x4=%24).

I think you're right. I'm using a 2.1A CostCo Charger and it seems to be charging the 2014 P-605 perfectly.

Not to be rude, but what you wrote here makes no sense to me .
i got the charging issue also, with original charger 2A, original USB cable
checking with galaxy current, value at 900mA
my tablet charges perfectly with original charger and cable but using every standard usb charger (2A and 700mA) it charges but the "connection" is unstable: it's like usb is connecting and disconnecting repeatedly.
I've checked every connection, using the same charger and cable with another phone the connection is stable.
Anyone with the same issue?

Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering if my unit is defective or it's really the case for Galaxy Note 8's. My tablet charges just fine when using the wall charger, but when I connect it to my PC, it won't charge at all. I've tried different cables that I use for my phone and other gadgets, but none of them will work.
Is there a way for me to make it charge via USB?

Mine also says not charging when its plugged to the PC, its because the USB ports supposedly don't give enought current to charge the tablet, but i once left it connected overnight while transfering my MP3 collection and in the morning the tablet was 100% charged, so i think even if it says is not charging, it charges but ultra slow, even slower than a cell phone.
USB ports on a PC does not put out enough voltage to charge the tab. Like said above, if it does, it will take forever. Look on the back of your wall charger. It should say 10v. USB ports typically put out only 5v. If you look on the back of a phone charger, it should be 5v.

It's not the volts, it's the amps. Your charger provides 2A. A typical USB port provides 0.5A. But in any case, you'll not be able to charge this device from a computer USB port. It's not a fault in the device.
That explains it then. Thanks guys
Hmmm... I alway charge my note 8.0 thru my pc usb.
It charges on my pc and lap top.
If you want to be sure just let is sit for an hour and see if the % went up.
Doesnt charge fast but charges in an evening from 60 to 100%
Perhaps it doesn't charge while the screen is on, because the power drain exceeds the charge rate? There would be no way to see it change to "charging" because the screen must be off for that to happen... Just some speculation

I have a HP Envy M6 laptop that I use to charge my Note 8. It only charges on the port closest to the battery. The only USB 2.0 port out of 3 other USB 3.0 ports which is odd because they say USB 3.0 ports give out more power.
I have tried charging it with another HP laptop that has the same USB setup but it doesnt charge in any one of the ports, 2.0 or 3.0.
I guess it just depends on the PC you're charging it with.
Can charge.
hi,
We can charge note 8, if the note is switched off and connected to a PCvia USB
Normally Note 8.0 can not charge with pc usb port or car usb port because AC current of them too low only 0.5A (minimum AC current of charging require should be 1A)
Samsung Tablet stock charger is 2.1A (Note 8.0 device allows 1.8A)
Jinx
Phone shows charging over USB instead of AC charger....
It will work fine for a few days...then revert to this...before charging normally
I'm losing battery power while it is charging take forever to charge.. When it is working fine I'll charge in about 2 hours. Strange part is it goes back and forth
Shows low amps using ampere app when problem persists. With phone off charges like it normally would
It is not the cable or charger. I have tried a few
Is this a faulty charging port or battery issue? Confused at this point
It should display AC charger not USB charging with a AC charger
BTW I'm not holding USB cable on weird angles trying to charge it
