Hi, if thinking of upgrading to this phone from a galaxy s3.
I just wondered can I press the volume buttons when the phone is in my pocket through the material.
That way I can skip my music and change radio stations without getting my phone out.
Thanks, Tim.
Yes there's no reason why you couldn't. This is assuming you get used the position of the back buttons.

Yeah, you can press the buttons through clothing
But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't track skipping with volume keys an ROM feature?
I have yet to see it on stock LG G3 but I haven't really searched for it either, I also don't use anything xposed either so I can't search in there

Correct, well actually you can do it with xposed and g3 tweaks box. If you wanted to root its a simple fix, but it doesn't exist in the stock ROM.
Thanks for your help. I usually use poweramp and spirit fm radio. I know the radio one has the option to skip in the settings, but my s3 is rooted anyway.

I bought a used G2 which already had Cyanogenmod on it. The trackpad button works to scroll both horizontally and vertically, but clicking it does not select anything in any app. I reset the phone and flashed a fresh download of CyanogenMod-7.1.0-vision using Clockwork recovery. The button still does not work. I can't find any setting in Cyanogen which would control it.
Since I can't revert to stock (bought phone with no original image) to check out the button with the original phone image, I have a question: is the trackpad click expected not to work in Cyanogenmod 7, or is the button broken? (Or is there a setting I have missed?)
I suspect it is broken, but I'd like confirmation before concluding that, so many thanks to anyone who can confirm this button is or is not expected to work.
(Search disclaimer: I've searched here and on CyanogenMod forum and see no one reporting my problem, and Google searches are lost between 1) people asking if they can use this button to unlock the phone and 2) Google getting confused and thinking I want to know about the HP Touchpad. I've also found it surprisingly hard to find reference to people actually using the trackpad to click things.)

Try to flash Sense based ROM, or something wat's not CyanogenMod. If it doesn't work, the button is broken.
Thanks. Button is confirmed dead.
12.99 on ebay, takes 20min to replace, 30 if you take your time
You have to turn the trackpad option on, its not on by default.

For me it's on by default, no matter which ROM I use.

Hey All....just picked up this phone and came from NS4G.
I've tried finding information online and only found some lame answers....
I want a Master Volume Control....using the rocker only turns down the phone, but all the other things stay turned up all the way. Anyone find/have something that will help alleviate this other than turning them down individually?
Thanks!

you can change the master volume to setting>sound>volume or can try play store, used to have a widget that controlled all volume...can't recall which one, that was back in G1 days.
Hello,
A few days ago I got a HTC desire from a friend. I've noticed that the volume buttons aren't working. I've flashed a few ROM's and they aren't working on any ROM, so I doesn't seem like a software issue to me.
Is there anyone here that knows how to fix this? Do I have to replace the buttons? And if so, how do I do that?

Try using some demoisturizer directly on the buttons. I've done it, and my buttons work like new.

Thanks for your advice! I am actually having the very same problem. Some buttons (most notably Volume Down and Menu) have to be pressed multiple times before the system actually register it... can you please be more specific how to clean it? What demoisturizer you used and how to proceed? Thanks!

I got it from a small electronics store. Maybe you have these kind of stores in the Czech Republic, where old people sell electronics at the street corner.

A friend I spend the same thing to him and following this thread I him work.
Anyone come up with a volume hack for headphones? On the g2 you could edit the mixerpaths file. Im rooted without twrp and tried that and got stuck in a nice bootloop and had to push the stock rom thru adb to get back up. Once i get twrp i can run thru some settings. Just wondering if anyone else is bummed out by this low volume.
I can say my phone don't need volume boost. Phone sounds great. Have to turn it down. Sounds way better than note 3
The speaker is fine. Although I wish it could go up by one or two when I'm listening through headphones.

Ooops yea edited my post to reflect that im talking about headphone volume.
I had a chance to play YouTube on G3 through speaker.
The speaker is nice if it's not louder than S3.
I'll take a crack at it. I'm at work now but ill see if i can figure it out in the am

Partially hijacking this thread, but does anybody know if there's a hidden way to disable the safe volume warning every time I plug in my headset? This is the most annoying thing on this phone, especially if I do a quick travel to n from lunch and work, I have to keep pressing the volume button again n again. I know most likely it's baked into the ROM, but maybe someone knows something.
OP, you sure this is not the problem you're facing? At first I thought I had gone all the way on the volume, but I realized I had to press it again to boost the volume to the max.

Nah I wish. I just like really loud music. The phone is capable of doing much higher levels with a few slight tweaks. I'm sure for most its loud enough.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but, G3 Tweaksbox has this option. It is under sound tweaks. Then check "Disable Safety Headset Volume"

Viper4Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
1. Download & extract the version for android 4.4, then install it
2. Open Viper4Android, choose quality, let it install the special driver and allow root. You may need to update busybox, it will prompt you if necessary.
3. Reboot
4. Open V4A, press the 3 dots at top right, change UI to "Moderate"
5. Swipe to "Headphone" tab, enable master power & playback gain control, scroll to bottom of page, change output gain to +0.8 or +1.6

I tried the V4A version and I must say it did make a bit of a difference in sound boost but one of the main things I use the headphones for at times is making phone calls. When I tried to make a call the volume of the call still sounded low. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have Sirius radio installed and you tube and sound on both definitely improved a bit. I wanted to try the other method by modifiying the path files but I heard some issues causing boot loops and it pretty much scared me away. I'm also still trying to figure out how to install TWRP on my LG G3 since I rooted it manually, I can't figure out how to get it on my device. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Finaly got TWRP on my device.
It's not a problem with the phones volume control but with your hearing ability.
I had hearing tests done last year at the clinic and they said I had very good sense of hearing... kind of a weird thing. Anyways, I can get it to about 75% volume and it's extremely loud. Any more than that is painful.

Installed them all, played about with them all, only one I kinda like is the recent apps one, but even that I'm beginning to get a bit sick of now, pretty much the same experience of when I tried it on either my S5 or S7, that also got uninstalled very quickly

Yep, blurred options are available
The new task changer is so good. If you quickly switch between the 2 recent apps by quickly double tapping there's no lag whatsoever. Old version had a little hiccup!

Yea I liked it too but my muscle memory has gotten used to swiping left/right to clear recent apps and was constantly doing that instead of swipe up/down, so have reverted back
Think I'm stuck in my ways tbh, at least with Samsung, same reason I cannot think of anything I would like to use the Bixby button for, so it just sits there useless, maybe with a different manufacturer's phone I could change my habits

Use bxactions!! I use it and if you give it increased control just by following the instructions (involves plugging into computer). It's so good because I've programmed it to launch google assistance, pause music, flightlight etc.

It's pretty buggy if you don't give it full control or whatever its called. Involves plugging in computer and executing a file on phone. Cause otherwise it launches bixby for a split second and is pretty annoying. And for the flashlight, sure you don't need it all the time but it dos have its uses once in a while. The better features for me is pause music, skip song and importantly launch google assistant instead of bixby

Yea I executed that file with adb and the phone connected originally, I set it up via the instructions but it wanted to do something other than I told it to
The button is just in an awkward place for me, I press it whenever I pick up the phone, or press the power button, they've placed it in such a position that they get a load of stats saying it's being used 10x more than it really is due to accidental presses, similar to when Microsoft changed the X close button to OK Accept for upgrading to 10 and claimed it was a mistake
Above the volume up or above the power key would have been a better place, somewhere you only press it when you mean to
If I map it for flashlight or anything else I'm gonna get sick of constantly accidentally launching whatever I map it to
Maybe in 12 months when the novelty of a new phone has worn off I`ll start playing about with it but quite happy to have it do nothing atm
I never had the chance to try this on my S7, so it's a breath of fresh air on my S9. Trying everything now to see what I'll keep. So far the lockscreen options are nice indeed.

Hopefully it will be, it's a good app, best for custom without root, the other apps are good also, the newer edge lighting has more effects, and also a routine app, one handed mode + and edge touch which I not used yet.
Thanks for the links! After installing all the apps I found that I preferred the way Samsung gave me my device!
However I've still retained one hand operation +, edge lighting plus and quickstar. The rest of the apps didn't seem to attract me much.
Thanks again!
Cheers!
