Anyone else has this annoying issue.. - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's not a deal breaker or anything, but when I unlock my phone after it's been locked for say more than 5 minutes, the weather widget/clock and any folders on my home screen, dissapear for a split second and reload. It's just annoying. If I unlock it and open it quickly, it doesn't, only when phones been locked for a few minutes.
It just basically reloads everything. Anyone else have this, or is there a way to get rid of that??

Sounds like a 'redraw'. Are you using the 2GB variant?

Mine does it also. But only when I have pattern lock on, if I use pin it doesn't do it.

Hey I was just wondering how good is the LG G3 compared to the Samsung Galaxy S5.. I would like to get a new phone and does are my 2 options.. If there is another phone that is equal good plz let me know.. THX

While I don't mind questions about how good the phone is, it has nothing to do with this thread I'm trying to figure out a problem as to why this screen completely redraws the widgets and folders everytime i unlock it.

Any other thoughts on this?

You have the smart bulletin on?try turning it off and see if there's any improvement. Had theg same issue last time, turning off smart bulletin worked for me.

[Poll] Do you use face unlock, pattern, etc?

Just curious about what kind of security people use to unlock their phones. I played with the face unlock when I first got the GN but eventually got too impatient. I'm trying to decide if continuing to "Improve face matching" will eventually make it fast almost every time, or if I should just go ahead and switch to pattern or pin.
If you lock your phone, I found face unlock minimize touching the screen and thus less blur on screen
But sometimes I feel face unlock delay my logging into the phone in case I want to do something quick.... I still prefer pattern unlock
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I used to have no pin because I like the stock lockscreen and being able to put SMS phone etc in the slide to unlock. Now that aokp has the option for both I use pin and lockscreen. Feels like iPhone lock exactly

I use pattern..but not for security reasons at all. I got tired of pocket dialing people.

Pin. When you think of the personal information on a smartphone it is a little scary. I have droidlost installed for added protection, but I'll only use a pin because anything else is just to insecure. Most pattern locks can be guessed by smudges on the screen in just a few attempts. Face unlock can be cracked with a bad facebook pic.
While face unlock can be hacked with a picture, no one that finds your lost phone is going to know what you look like. I always thought that was an interesting criticism of the face unlock. My friends might be able to hack into my phone, but that's not really who I'm trying to secure it from.
I also used to only use slide, but I have recently become more and more aware of how much information is available to anyone holding my phone. I think identity theft would be pretty easy if I lost it

Yeah, pin and password are the only two that are very secure, but I just use slide. My mentality is, I'd be much more concerned if someone got ahold of my wallet with all my cash, ids, cards, etc, but I don't put a lock on that. I just keep it with me all the time, same as my phone. I've never lost either and don't plan to! But I do have SeekDroid just in case.
Face Unlock, just so that when I get into the homescreen, JuiceDefender has turn on my Data Connection. Oh, and too impress friends too
Face Unlock.
It is much better than nothing and I don't want to key in the PIN every time the screen is locked.
I never carry my own photo with me other than the one on my driver license which I confirmed would not unlock my phone. So I don't see why people say Face Unlock is useless.
I use a pattern, get it wrong and I have a picture of you emailed to me.
I used slide to unlocked before I installed cerberus, might as well use the features.

Actually it would be very easy to find out. Most lockscreens will splash contact information. If you find my phone you will have my name, work phone number, and multiple email addresses. That is at least three ways to google and find pictures for most people. I would argue that this is the most insecure method possible to lock up your device.

how do you get the phone to send you the pic?
I like to use the pattern, but it gets annoying when I'm just sitting at home texting back and forth, as I have to unlock it every single time. I end up turning the security off lol. Sometimes I'm good and turn it back on when I leave the house.

Under security settings click 'Owner info' to turn it on. Shows whatever message you want to the hopefully honest person who finds your phone. Only hitch is that if the phone is plugged in it just says "charging xx%" rather than the message. Don't know if that is a bug or if Google just figured that if your phone is plugged in it is probably not lost.
I'm using a PIN because I installed unlock with WiFi and it requires it. When I'm on a registered WiFi network I just slide to unlock.

can't unlock screen when swiped??

Is anyone experiencing this?? I have 'swipe to unlock' but sometimes it doesn't unlock. But the weird thing is when this happens, you can still unlock when you swipe near the bottom of the scree(not shortcut). I can do a restart and it'll be fine again but it's annoying! I actually got a 2nd S4 and returned the first one hoping it's was just that phone. But apparently it's not. So someone else mush have this problem?
Yea it happen to also nd when u reset it. Its fine Samsung messed up with the s4 so much lags n software problems im on my 3rd s4 in 3 weeks got it may 25. There no where it should b laggy or any problems my s3 is faster sometimes. Im getting the htc one tomorrow. And the battery life is terrible with little use only last 10 hours

I'm sure HTC1 is a great phone, but if you're hoping the battery will last longer, I think the 1 will be a bigger disappointment. My S4 has be great with everything other than this little problem. Battery is phenomenal, too!

Normally you can swipe the screen anywhere to unlock. But sometimes I can't no matter how much I swipe the screen. But the weird thing is you can still unlock by swiping near the bottom of the screen(not the lock icon) or by swiping the shortcuts. It's just annoying!

Well, the widgets on the lockscreen block the area from being unlocked. You can only unlock from below them. You might however be able to set it to just a clock (under my device > lockscreen) and that may enable unlocking from the top.

But I don't understand why it happens so randomly. And I don't know what you mean by widgets. Widgets(which are shortcuts right?) are located on the bottom of the screen. And that's the part that's not effected by this as I could still unlock either by opening up a widget or swipe just above it.

[Q] Lock Screen

Hello,
Awesome site!
I am currently having an issue where my lock screen will not work. As in, when my phone times out and i hit the power button, no lock screen. It literally boots right into the home screen. I have gone through all of the settings, disable, enabled, changed the type of lock and what not.
Has anyone else ran into this issue?
I am currently running :
CyanogenMod version :
10.1 - 20130704-NIGHTLY-JFLTETMO
Kernel version:
3.40-cyanogenmod-g3905ee4
[email protected]#1
Thu Jul 4 02:02:55 PDT 2013
Baseband version :
M919UVUAMDB
Build number :
cm_jfltetmo-userdebug 4.2.2 JDQ39E
eng.jenkins.20130704.014817 test-keys
I have already searched the forums for the anyone who has a similar issue and have found nothing.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this issue, it would be greatly appreciated!
I would imagine that a fresh install would fix this and I will have no problems doing so if that is the only solution.
Looking to see if there is an actual cause for this and if it can be repaired without reloading.
Again, thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, even if you didn't provide a fix.
I think im having a similiar issue, when I timeout I cant get phone to wake ... takes like 20 seconds, like its all fragged out...
Then when it does wake its on the power down reboot menu.
This is my second s4 last one no issues.

Anyone else having lock screen issues? Can anyone provide any insight on why it is happening or what else i should try to make the lock screen behave the way its intended?
I'd hate to have to do a fresh install...and then have it happen again..
Thanks in advance..

What you described in the first post is normal. Say you're reading an online news article and your screen times out, pressing the power button instantly brings you back to that article instead of to your lock screen. It's a controllable feature in my next ROM release.

It is not normal that my phone does not lock at all under any circumstance.
Clearly, i didn't describe my issue very well in my OP.
My lock screen does not work at all, no matter what the settings are.

So even if you leave your phone sit for say five minutes with the screen off there is no lock screen?

You're correct, that is what you read...that was a poor example with little to no detail.
Yes, even when my phone timed out and was left for 5 minutes, it did not lock.
I believe I have resolved the issue by disabling cLock within app manager. Once i did this, it didn't resolve the issue immediately but within the hour, my phone timed out and when I hit the power button, it was locked. I have re-enabled cLock and all seems to be working fine as far as my phone locking when it is suppose too. The issue I'm having now is that my cLock widget settings are not taking effect on the lock screen. As in, color and font boldness. I guess, its better then not working at all..
Maybe you have some insight or suggestions on how to fix this current issue.
Thanks in advance!

First time i heard of "cLock" is it an app on the play store or something? And yes that was gonna be my second recommendation, that there seemed to be an app or some other thing preventing the lock screen from showing.

I would say remove the lockscreen widget and add it again. If that doesn't work, try using a different size widget... I seem to remember having some problems with cLock but I can't remember exactly what I did..

Screen stops working randomly

I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else. So sometimes I go to unlock and the screen doesn't let me do anything, it happens not just when unlocking but when I'm using the phone too, it's really annoying when I'm trying to text someone back or try to answer a call. It doesn't happen all the time so I could live with it....but I'm wondering if anyone has a fix or has the same problem.
Also I have my phone rooted and g3 tweaksbox, and I turned off the knock in code..I don't know if any of these have factors.

Is it lag? Does it only happen for a few seconds before it starts again?
It's not lag..I don't think unless it's a really long lag ?... I turn my screen on and off and it would still be frozen. Maybe after a few mins of turning the screen off and on again it will work...

Oh okay! That is good to know...I guess I'll be trying that soon
I have the same issue as well.
It's not that the screen "stopped" working. It works, except there's no update on the screen. As if the entire phone is frozen, but it's still giving me haptic feedbacks. Except, actions aren't being reflected on the UI; things like, tapping home navbar button, doesn't take me to the launcher, tapping up/back doesn't take me to the previous screen. I can lock/unlock the phone, but I'd return to the whatever page of the app that corresponds to the back/up command I previously made.
I think, the easiest way I can summarize this is that the OS stopped doing visual updates, while there's actually stuff going on despite that "stuck" screen.

Question P6 bypass lock screen when trusted with smart lock?

Unless I'm missing the point of smart lock. Pressing the unlock button and/or using your fingerprint takes the same amount of time and effort.
Am I missing the obvious? Smartlock seems useless

I used for some time smartlock (because Pixel was paired with a smartband), so if it's connected, it was set to unlock in this case without password or fingerprint.
Otherwise, if we use fingerprint it take half second to unlock, so it's almost the same, but each user can decide what is more comfortable for him.

This is also pointless Because, we should not complain if now the fingerprint has reached a good level of speed, while, when the Pixel 6 was released many people complained because of slowness or reliability.

You may need to use gloves or other conditions where you cannot unlock the phone, then smart-lock might be useful. But as you say, in normal condition takes almost the same time. Then what is the point? You ask to remove a function that might be useful to others? Just don't use it if you don't like.

On a side note, Google changing the screen to wake with a single tap instead of double tap is equally annoying and leads to the screen accidentally turning on all the damn time. Including in your pocket.

Ty so much for this.. But from his description
"You phone will never be locked"
I see how this is keeping the device unlocked (for a certain period of time) but how does the device auto lock when leaving a trusted site?
For me I have several trustes sites already with profiles made in Tasker.
My default (outside/not at home) would be where I would want my phone locked
