Hello together,
first of all, i have an european E975. At the beginning with this phone everything was all right, nearly every custom rom and stock Roms (through KDZ flashing) went fine (except the mentioned bugs). But after flashing an stock kitkat based miui Rom where my sim card wasnt recognized (never had this before with this phone) no Rom runs good after KDZ flashing back to 10f. This means nearly every Rom (even Stock) has now problems i havent got before with the SAME zip packages and versions.
For Example, any cm based Rom have a wakeup issues, so the softkeys turns on but the screen turns black, or screen lightens up but freezes. 4.2.2 MIUI has now additional problems that nearly every app freeze and force closes and on 4.4 stock it takes often 10 seconds to wake the device up. And I am using the same zip files i used before, which ran great and without these problems before flashing the kitkat based miui. And i used the same procedure to flash an custom rom as before, this means kdz flashing 10f, wiped data, framaroot, busybox, freegee with mako twrp, wipe data, system and cache in recovery, flash Rom, flash gapps, wipe data again and boot.
So my question is, could there be other partitions that could be overwritten or damaged that cause the problems? Or is there another way than KDZ flashing to get rid of unnecessary files?
Thank you in advance

This is just a tip or advise for people whose phone isn't working well.
(This is just my opinion - no hard evidence is shown)
I mean like FC's, titanium backup doesn't work well etc.
Some history...
I have flashed several different ROM's via CWM and some ROM's didn't work as well as others.
For some reason every ROM apparently leaves something to phone that won't be removed even after factory reset and that causes some problems in some ROM's.
Then I got an idea when I wanted to flash one of JVT ROM.
First I flashed stock JVT ROM (with re-partition) with Odin and rebooted (and wait for phone to start normally).
Then after shutting down (rebooting to Download mode), I flashed Semaphore (JVT) kernel with Odin (it can be any JVT kernel with CWM).
So now I have a phone with custom kernel but stock ROM.
Rebooting to Recovery and clean caches (delete dalvik cache and format /cache).
Now I was ready to flash desired ROM (in CWM - not Odin).
And now I have fully working phone.
ps. It really helps to read carefully instructions how to install that specific ROM.
Unnecessary but meaned good

I always do flashing this way ...
This is part of the general way of flashing a rom, i think everyone should know this by now who read the general info about flashing.
this is just weird, as i have been installing custom ROM like crazy...
but for some time i was on CM 10.1.2 and didnt install any custom ROM, but i felt like coming back to TW based ROMs, so tried installing DeTmobilized 1.5, but phone stuck at boot screen, i tried to restart by pulling battery out but phone displayed "encryption failed" and kept on showing phone.apk stopped working (something similar). so i decided to ODIN to stock and start fresh, this time i tried installed Dandroid 3.8.1 and it worked, so i thought of giving DeTmobilized one more try, but again it got stuck at samsung letters at the boot.
so i decided to stick with Dandroid for a while, but now i cannot install that too. it gets stuck while booting. but if i ODIN to stock everything works fine on stock firmware, its only the custom ROMs that are not working.
i also tried repartitioning using PIT file along with stock md5 hoping that would solve this issue, but it hasnt.
i need help, i cannot stay on stock ROM.
thank you.

boot into recovery and wipe cache partition along with davik, that should fix the stuck
also do remember first boot will always take a while
also make sure you're using the latest custom recovery (either twrp or cwm)
i would also like to note here that i tried installing AOSP based ROMs also, and AOKP didnt work, got stuck at nexus like boot animation forever, but when i tried installing CM10.1.2 (which is what i was running when i tried to get back to TW based ROM) it worked perfectly, so for now i am back to CM, but i would really get back to flashing different ROMs and trying them out. just makes me wonder if CM is the reason i am not able to install anything else, just a thought...
has anybody else tried going to any other ROMs from CM 10.1.2?
your help is appreciated!

i have latest recovery , TWRP 2.6.0.0 and i have given more than an hour to boot up and still nothing. i have been flashing ROMs like an addict since i got this phone last year, but when CM 10.1 stable was released i stayed on it till today, but now i cannot install any other ROM, i can odin to stock 4.1.1 ROM or install cm 10.1.2 which i did just now, but no other ROM, either TW based on AOSP based is working...which is very weird for me.
Were you able to fix this issue at all? I am facing the same issue, in my case, the phone was encrypted on stock TW. I roooted and put in CM 10.1.2 and now when I try installing Dandroid, the install itself would work but I am struck at the "type password to unlock the screen". If I reflash CM10.1.2, I can login fine. Any pointers?
So my E980 will not turn wifi on with a custom ROM. I have tried probably 10 different roms and many different android version numbers with no change. The switch is greyed out and will not turn on at all. I have the following installed:
CM12-20150625-Snapshot-YNG4NAO09M
WildKernel
I believe Mack's modem
Gapps
Nothing will fix this. I have read where other people have installed stock Kernels to fix their issues but will doing that cause a problem because I am on android version 5.x+? Everything seems to work ok on the phone other than wifi and I really need that.
Have you tried to flash CM over full stock 4.1 without custom modem? All CM based roms recommended install is: flash stock 4.1 kdz through Lg Flash Tool 2014 cse flash, then root, then freegee + cwm, then CM. And only if something is wrong then patches.
Yeah that's how I have been doing it actually. I only started doing there kernels and stuff yesterday morning. I did find that blisspop v3.6 actually had working WiFi on my phone but it had other weird issues. It would randomly reboot and then go into reinstalling the ROM and it would also randomly shut my cellular data connection off by itself. Like I could watch it turn the switch off and on ine settings app. Those coupled with really bad battery life made me flash back to stock 4.1.2.
Then after flashing back to stock I went on and did the ota update to 4.4.2 but that caused issues with the screen not coming back on after making a phone call without doing a power cycle. I would love to run a custom ROM but none I have found are stable and only one has most all the stock features working in it.
Did you use recommended recovery version? Try upgrading from stock 4.1 directly to BlissPop using latest Philz Touch or TWRP 2.8.6.0 modified? Personally i prefer this recovery: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934554356 for my E988. It can flash and backup modem and EFS.

The recovery part has always confused me. Thus far I have been downloading FreeGee Free off the playstore and using it to install CWM. I tried TWRP once but the interface wouldn't work right on my device. Some of the onscreen buttons would do different things than their label said (like Reboot would take me to a different screen, not Reboot) and the slider bar at the bottom wouldn't work.
How do you install the recovery using that Zip file? And could that be causing me problems?

I'm installing it from recovery just like another zips (ROMs etc)
Problems? Theoretically, yes, if you flash recovery that isn't compatible with your device
Hi All
I've been having such trouble flashing custom ROMs on my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 WiFi SM-T520. I was sucessfully able to flash TWRP 2.8.7 via odin on the device. However, I've tried several ROMs (CM11, 12, 12.1, Unofficial Liquidsmooth) each with their own issues but whichever is able to be flashed always ends up with random startup reboots. I cannot for the life of me figure out why or what is the reason. If I flash back to stock Samsung firmware, everything is fine, works perfectly but no custom firmware.
CM12.1 out right hangs during install in TWRP. The only way I was able to install it is via Cyanogen Recovery which I flashed via odin then attempted to install the rom but even still ends up in random reboots during first bootup and a few times during optimizing apps.
Just a note, I have been doing full wipes (cache, data, system) prior to flashing the ROMs. I don't know what else to do. CM12.1 works really great and smooth but cannot use it because of these random reboots. Can anyone shed some light so I can have a successful flash?
ALSO, I would like to note one suspicion I have and that is my tablet came preloaded with KOT49H.T520UEUAOD1 (T520UEUAOD1_T520XARAOD1_XAR) Samsung Firmware Build. I wonder if perhaps something with this latest build shipped is causing my troubles but am not sure.
Thanks in advanced!
Try booting back to recovery immediatly after new rom flash and perform factory reset and it ahould fix it in most cases.

I tried the factory reset suggestion but unfortunately did not make a difference.
Are you restoring any backups after flashing? I have been having the same issue, since flashing back to stock. I didn't like stock so I went back to CWM 12.1, which worked flawlessly before. now having random reboots, and the longer I leave it on my system, it's takes longer and longer to wake each time. The only difference between now and the first time I flashed, is, this time I restored a backup! I to, wipe before and after flashing!

No backup/restores involved for me. Are you still experiencing this issue with CM12.1 or was restoring the backup the problem in your situation?
I am wondering if perhaps the bootloader version that is based off of the latest official stock ROM that was released in April/May 2015 has something to do with my issues. Is there anyone that was on the latest stock Samsung ROM that has been able to successfully flash a custom ROM and use it in a stable way (short of minor CM bugs)?
I tried flashing an old, alpha, version of sailfish on my phone and since then it's been bootlooping. I can access the recovery and install CM11 but after booting it restarts, every 1-2 minutes. Flashing some other roms gives me bootloops (First boot takes >1 minute, the phone resets).
I've already backed up all my data and wiped internal and external storage, but flashing gives me the same problems.
What can I do? I have the latest TWRP installed.
EDIT: Some ROMs seem to work. I just flashed PAC LP MR1 20151011 and it worked. Most other roms don't work. Do I need to update firmware? I don't understand why this is happening
try to flash the latest fastboot rom to put the phone to stock settings and then try again with other roms
Have you tried flashing firmware files from #3 in cm 11/12.1/13 thread?
