While waiting for the new OTA update to fix the 3-dots menu issue, I just think of another silly method to remove it without need to root your machine.
System use the SDK version to determine if an app is ICS compatible, so I'm going to modify androidmanifest.xml. Version 14 or above are reserved for 4.0.x.
In order to edit the file, I use apktool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640592) to unpack the apk file:
apktool d Phone.apk Phone
And modify this line:
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" />
After finish update, use apktool to pack the file again:
apktool b Phone Phone.apk
As we modified a file, the MD5 checksum is different, we need to re-sign the apk file.
I use signapk.jar (http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Generating_Keys) and the included test key for the purpose:
java -jar signapk.jar testkey.x509.pem testkey.pk8 c:\apk\phone.apk c:\apk\phones.apk
After that, copy the new apk to your phone to install.
Note that as we sign the apk again, it is not able to update to your existing version.
Also, as doing this will remove the menu button, which meant you can't access the menu. This solution only suitable for app in which the menu button was built inside the app screen.

You can backup your apps using astro and then transfer them to your PC.
apktool
signare (I prefer this for signing)
What app did you use this on?

I just use it on Go Launcher.
Just calm down. Next update (2.x) will have a option in settings to swap the recent apps button to a menu button (with recent apps on longpress), or vice versa (longpress for menu).
This eleminates 3 dots in all apps.
Yes, I knew it.
While I'm waiting, just find some fun!

I would rather have the 3 dots than do this for each and every apk ( maybe i'm just too lazy )
And i believe this was already posted somewhere here although less detailed.
Or you could just wait a few days for the OTA 4.0.4 update.
HTC have added this as an option in settings for you to remove 3-dot menu.
No need for modifications anymore.

I'm just curious, although I've flashed Exodized and it has this covered, what is the source of this info? Has it already been done by HTC on the leaked 2.05.x base?
Could someone upload an edited apk of the latest GoLauncher?

You can also remove 3-dot menu with a simple dimens.xml edit, so the user does not need to manually edit his build.prop

Thanks - so im trying to install MWcontrol.apk from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953705 and it says that i must
Flash modded framework files corresponding to your firmware
- Download the apk, move it to your sdcard, and install it normally
- Use the application, pick your apps
- Reboot, and then check the MultiWindow Bar
- Click on edit button on the MultiWindow Bar, and add the new apps to the bar.
I'm lost at step 1 - I know how to do the rest - but what does this mean to flash modded framework files and how do i do this?
Thanks!!

:fingers-crossed:
all credit goes to @Ben Ling for providing Z2 file
screens
installation
eazy pizzy
1) if you have super user mod then just install app as normal apk
2) go to theme manager and check the change
or
push file to system/app with correct permissions and from the same folder hit pested apk and install (suggested by @Ashwin Prabhunerurkar)
Note: to have super user mod you can user either lucky patcher (using that tool go to tool box and patch android and remove sign verificaiton)
or download seeraj's xposed module and get it done
all the best

Hello,
i use an old free app on LP (after modify platform.xml file).
This old app is:
http://www.androidapps.biz/app/com.taxaly.noteme/fr
I would like to know if its possible to modify the manifest file of this app to upgrade the permissions to work with Marshmallow ?
And if its possible, whats permissions i must add in the xml file ?
I know decompile an app but i don't know if i can simply modify the manifest to make it rework..
Thanks :good:
