Can anyone confirm that it's safe to rename or delete files in system\media\audio\ui?
I want to disable the sounds made when either plugging into the charger or starting a wireless charge.
Don't want to risk a bootloop by playing with system files though.
I've done this on other phones, so probably ok, but just want to see if anyone has done this safely on a G3 yet.

Ok, I trusted you and confirmed. Renamed the wireless charging one to .bak and rebooted. Came up fine and no wireless charging sound anymore.
Will this prevent an OTA from completing or will the file be restored on an OTA or will an OTA complete and not restore the file?
Ok, now I'm really confused. I actually tested that it didn't play the wireless charging sound before I rebooted. Now that I've rebooted, it plays the sound again when I put the phone on the wireless charger, but the file is still renamed.
What's going on?
Ok, I figured out why disabling WirelessChargingStarted.ogg doesn't stop the sound from playing. Because it's not the sound that plays when it connects to the Qi charger. I don't think it's any of the sounds in system\media\audio\ui
So where is the file it does play?
Bump. Anyone know?

I don't actually know this...because I don't have a LG phone. But you might be able to disable this in your build.prop file, or in bools.xml in your framework-res.apk or SystemUI.apk.
I know that, on my Sony rom, there are all kinds of settings there that I can change.
It's worth a look.
Renaming the .ogg files is certainly safer!

I figured it out in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/wireless-charging-sound-notigfication-t2849851
\system\media\audio\notifications\crystal.ogg is the sound that plays when connecting to a wireless charger.
Why the system places that file and not wirelesschargingstarted.ogg is beyond me, but that's what it does.
Rename or delete that file and it won't play the sound when connecting to a Qi charger anymore. If you still want to use that notification for something else, just copy it into sdcard\notifications first and it'll be available as a custom notification.
Yes, I had no intention of playing with build.prop to address this issue. Way too risky for me.

When it is open press menu and go to options and it will say something about automatic launch, un check that, then if you are rooted get titanium backup and uninstall it from there. Are you having problems with the speaker phone being on every time you make or receive a call? That's my problem and I can't figure out how to stop it.

Assuming you mean Car Panel.
Is it docked? If not, you should probably reflash your ROM and if you are restoring using Titanium Backup, don't restore Car Panel or the system data for it.
Car Panel
my evo cm7 wouldnt charge in my car even though the car panel app came up. i uninstalled it through Titanium Backup and now my phone charges!
My wives EVO is having the same issues. It started on FreshRom, so I switched to MikFroyo, and its doing the same thing. Would flashing a new radio have anything to do with it, because FreshRom was fine until a few days ago?

My friend's phone just started doing this. His USB started bugging out at the same time so I'm thinking the two issues might be related.
i fixd the car home thing!
ok.. for those who are seeing car home annoyingly pop up.. here is my solution.
1. extract the zip file that u use to install the google apps on ur computer.
2. once extracted, delete the car home apk found under system>app> carhomegoogle.apk.
3. once deleted, go to the first sub folder in the extrated folder. ( the folder should have two folders in there called META-INF and system)
4. highlight those folders and create a .zip file.
5. rename it something simple ( gapps may work. since your are replacing the original gapps.zip folder)
6. mount on to the root of ur sd card.
this part might sound a bit extreme but this is the only way to make sure..
7. go to ur phone's recovery, and reinstall cm7 and the new google apps.
thats it.
the key here is to delete the car home app from the zip file. since anything inside cant be tampered with,u must extract it and modify it that way. then remake a new .zip file that does not contain car home.
enjoy.
i am now car home free.
for anyone still having this issue, which just started for me this morning, it seems to be a hardware issue not a Software issue. I could fiddle with my USB jack and it would stop for a few then start back up i am guessing mine is worn down and causing it to send a false call for a car dock.
Just look up "Dock no-op" on the market that fixed it for me.
Titanium back up works well too. It's also faster and easier in my opinion.

Is there a file called LG_Cable_Disconnect.ogg in system/media/audio/ui?
Was replacing sounds in my phone and I wasn't sure if there was a sound effect for a cable disconnecting. I know there's one for when it connects, but was there one that played when you unplug it?

There is not in mine.
BUT... I am on AT&T, so there is a small chance it is different.
Speaking of sound changing, only a handful of sounds seem to be actually working when replacing files. LG_Cable_Connect.ogg, and PowerOn.ogg are the only ones I've tested that seem to work. PowerOff.ogg isn't playing (despite my music app being able to play it if I open it directly from the folder) while Lock.ogg and Unlock.ogg seem to be completely ignored, with the phone playing the default lock and unlock sounds despite those files being deleted already. All of the files are set to 644. Anyone wanna try seeing if these guys can be edited?
On a side note, I figured out it was the volume sound I deleted. could someone please locate the volume sound and give me the name to see if I can customize it please?
In fact, would someone be so kind as to give all the file names so I can double check that I got the names correctly? I stupidly didn't make a backup of them before deleting and replacing.
so far ive only changed poweroff and poweron and they both worked for me. as for the volume sound i cant seem to find it. do you remember what it was named?

I could be wrong, I just remember seeing a volume sound in there and think I deleted it without adding my own custom sound to replace it, but perhaps my memory has failed me.

only file with the word volume in it is a 30 second clip of a song.
here are all the files in UI and the .ogg i was talking about
Yeah, that's the volume file. Too bad it isn't actually the volume beep. What the hell is that file used for then? Anyway, I managed to get PowerOff to work by making it into PowerOff_Sprint (which is odd considering I didn't need PowerOn_Sprint for the opposite to work). Lock sounds will still not play for me though, they just play stock lock and unlock noises despite them not being in the folder anymore. Perhaps they're located in a different folder?
I just checked and we have a LG_Cable_Connect.ogg but no disconnect sound (sprint). Unrelated, but it appears that we have some....interesting... bloat sound files in /system/sounds/lgeSounds.
Has anyone been able to change the lock and unlock sounds successfully?
Now that I've got my lgog, I am also trying to disable some of the sounds, but am having no luck finding the right files to rename/delete/etc. Has anyone else been able to find the right files?

What I was most trying to figure out where the lock / unlock sounds, not realizing that there was an actual menu option for those. Found it and now I shall hang my head in shame for asking before really looking deeply.
Anyone come up with a volume hack for headphones? On the g2 you could edit the mixerpaths file. Im rooted without twrp and tried that and got stuck in a nice bootloop and had to push the stock rom thru adb to get back up. Once i get twrp i can run thru some settings. Just wondering if anyone else is bummed out by this low volume.
I can say my phone don't need volume boost. Phone sounds great. Have to turn it down. Sounds way better than note 3
The speaker is fine. Although I wish it could go up by one or two when I'm listening through headphones.

Partially hijacking this thread, but does anybody know if there's a hidden way to disable the safe volume warning every time I plug in my headset? This is the most annoying thing on this phone, especially if I do a quick travel to n from lunch and work, I have to keep pressing the volume button again n again. I know most likely it's baked into the ROM, but maybe someone knows something.
OP, you sure this is not the problem you're facing? At first I thought I had gone all the way on the volume, but I realized I had to press it again to boost the volume to the max.

1. Download & extract the version for android 4.4, then install it
2. Open Viper4Android, choose quality, let it install the special driver and allow root. You may need to update busybox, it will prompt you if necessary.
3. Reboot
4. Open V4A, press the 3 dots at top right, change UI to "Moderate"
5. Swipe to "Headphone" tab, enable master power & playback gain control, scroll to bottom of page, change output gain to +0.8 or +1.6

I tried the V4A version and I must say it did make a bit of a difference in sound boost but one of the main things I use the headphones for at times is making phone calls. When I tried to make a call the volume of the call still sounded low. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have Sirius radio installed and you tube and sound on both definitely improved a bit. I wanted to try the other method by modifiying the path files but I heard some issues causing boot loops and it pretty much scared me away. I'm also still trying to figure out how to install TWRP on my LG G3 since I rooted it manually, I can't figure out how to get it on my device. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Finaly got TWRP on my device.
It's not a problem with the phones volume control but with your hearing ability.
I had hearing tests done last year at the clinic and they said I had very good sense of hearing... kind of a weird thing. Anyways, I can get it to about 75% volume and it's extremely loud. Any more than that is painful.

I managed to disable a lot of the annoying sounds of the LG G4 by renaming them in /system/media/audio/ui Who the **** needs a sound when the phone starts? But despite all efforts I was NOT able to figure out which ogg file is responsible for the loud sound the LG G4 makes when plugin in a USB/power cable EVERY SINGLE TIME! Are those Koreans deaf? Is it a cultural difference? I will never know. Can anyone help me out here? Who to make the LG G4 shut up when plugin in my USB cable?
Edit:
Well renaming ALL files in the ui folder did the trick.... I call this silencer overkill
I stand corrected. Renaming all the sound files in /system/media/audio/ui eliminates a lot of system sounds. The G4 still plays a sound when pluged in, fully charged basically everything that is connected to the USB Port. Anyone any idea how to disable this?
Why don't you just delete them?

You know you can disable the system sounds by clicking on the wheel when adjusting volume. Just set "Touch feedback & system" to the minimum.

Thanks. Somehow it seems this settings changes itself. Honestly since 5.0 I am completely lost with system sounds. By the way, would you know a way to disable vibration on the LG G4 completely? I want my phone to ring. Thats it. No Vibration, no funny sounds, I did not find a switch that says: Turn off vibration like on my Nexus 5.
No, no, no! Renaming & deleting does NOT help. LG G4 still needs to beep away in the middle of the night because it is fully charged
And system sounds where tuned up to maximum. AGAIN. I sure as hell didn't do that!
Any solution to this except a hammer?

Hmm, I keep mine out of a case,.. Yeah I'm not sure what it is, it's a 50/50 between some say software and some say hardware. I would asume that software would of been fixed by now, either Samsung or 3rd party

So I found a solution for the issue in my case, it does seem to be software but it's really weird cause the issue continues in any firmware, it started when I was on 6.0.1 PI2, then I flashed Nougat and had the same problem (I hated it and battery drain was killing me) I went back to 6.0 and changed to the PK2 version and the issue continued, it was really weird cause it would cut out in audio messages, games but not music, I also tried every single suggestion on every forum and post I could find EXCEPT the Soundabout app, today I gave up, installed soundabout, selected media to speakers and bam, problem solved, I still need further testing, but it seems ok for now, keep in mind that I also have "prevent USB audio routing" on and "Easy Mute" off.
