This is a Q and A thread about the Kitkat based NoleKat rom for T210(R).
Please post any questions you may have about the rom here in this thread. I will do my best to answer.
Here are a few of the common questions:
Q: Does ART work?
A: No, this is a deodexed rom (ART requires Odexed). The option has also been hidden by Samsung.
Q: Why doesn't the boot animation display?
A: Boot animation works fine for some and doesn't display for others. This is due to the difference in hardware versions (likely due to different manufacturing dates). We have tried to fix this in the kernel, but it caused other (worse) issues.
Q: Why can't I connect to wifi and wifi settings causes black screen?
A: I have no idea why some (very few) devices have these issues. If your device has these issues, I am sorry, but I don't know how to fix it.
Q: Does this rom support OTG?
A: No, it is a hardware limitation. The T210(R) will never have OTG.
I will update this list as necessary.

I dont have a problem with wifi passwords. Download an app that allowes you to recover wifi passwords. Titanium backup can backup wifi data to. Just put your wifi pass in, back up wifi with titanium and after you reboot just restore it.

Im working on making a framework withoit the gr8nole button.
Firstly, thanks for the brilliant work, as soon as my wallet has something in it ill donate for sure. The main problem im having is lack of gps. I use my sm-t210 at work as a satnav, but all versions so far, I have been unable to get a connection. Ive installed "faster gps" but still nothing. At the mo im having to restore to 4.1 everytime I need satnav, and my internal memory is running low as I cant wipe it or I have to download my satnav map again.
Any ideas please?

Most likely will never work. I think we don't have hardware support for it, but I could be wrong. I also have no way to even test.

I responded to a bug report about this. GPS works fine for me. I immediately get a lock on 12-13 sats. If can send some logs from when you have issues I'll take a look and see if I can find anything.

I think it has hardware support because im using the 4.2.2 version works perfectly to connect to the tv. But as what u said, you have no tv to test it to. Thanks for your effort and this nice rom. I'll just wait if you could come up eith a solution. Im still using your 1.4 version.

UPDATE
Android 4.2.2 v6
Working: All with amazing battery life
Not working: Google Wallet (force close)
Again, not my work, just helping the community!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341794
Same setup - should work on T-MO.
Just an update about the new 4.3 GPe: External SD Card is readable when you plug it into your PC. The camera however still does not read the SD card. All else is still functioning.Version 4.3 will break root! All versions of SU currently do not work with 4.3. Just keep that in mind.
You can flash this over your current 4.2.2 Google Edition. If you're coming from TW, do a complete wipe, then flash. Thanks
____________________________________________________________________
No - I did not grab the system dump myself
Yes - I have tested this for the TMO variant and it's fully functioning
I did create a Youtube Video on how to install the Google Edition S4. Check it out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmYpkJ27WAM
Althought it's not a ROM built from scratch or a project of any kind, it is a rom all in itself straight from the S4 GE
(Updated Link) - Thanks to luckyduck69 for posting a new mirror. Previous Link crashed XD.
If you're interested in the GE (VERSION 4.2.2), download here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5nz662i2y826kwd/google-edition-bg.zip
As always, make a backup, wipe, then flash.

Was notified Root was not installed, told TWRP to install it for me.
So far, seems fine! I miss the "long press back to kill app" feature, but I can live without it as I play with this ROM.
Thanks for the link! After flashing this ROM will all software/firmware on the phone be identical to that on the GPe handset? Or are there any other bits that aren't contained in the ROM?
I'm wondering that too. This is stable? Wipe system/data/cache and flash?
I did a wipe flashed and then had to reboot to get WiFi
going, other than that so far so good .feels smooth, but it could be a placebo effect not sure

Not a problem. After flashing this direct port, I've noticed that my Model number changed to GT-I9505G, but my baseband remains the same (MDL), As it appears, everything is fully functioning from that of the GPe. To be clear, no errors, force closes, or mis-haps have occured.

I'm not sure wi-fi calling is known to work even on the real GPe, is it? I thought it might be specific to TMo/TW ROM somehow. I guess only GPe reviewers know at this point.
I was referring more to general wi-fi capability, I saw some guys saying that didn't work with the GPe system dump on TMo handset.

Was this a problem on the first Note tablet? As I get to installing a lot of apps, over 500 is what I have, I've found that the tablet is going through an infinite boot loop. I'm talking to a Samsung rep online now about it. I've tried taking out the sd card, putting it back it, etc. It appears that some are going through this too with the Galaxy Note 3.

Updating my status. Through my own research, instead of trying to install all 500 at once, I've taken a more modest approach. I'm installing apps 4 at a time, letting it finish, powering down, then starting back up. It's working. I can get to my home screen without problem now. Maybe 500+ apps was too much of a strain for the file system to endure.

it would be pretty stupid if that's the case. it would seem a bug if anything, and serious for some. installing that 500th (or whatever the breaking point would be) at the wrong time could be disastrous.
perhaps we'll her more about it this weekend when the rest of us start getting ours. only i don't really have 500 apps that i want installed, lol.

Please keep in mind that some apps my not be fully compatible with android 4.3 yet.
Mine goes through the Samsung animation 5 times... I'm not sure at what point started doing that. I have around 100 apps and I feel very lazy to reset it and install a few apps at the time to see if that fixes the problem... Anyway I wonder what the apps have to do with the booting?
For reference I'm using: Nova Launcher, Swiftkey and not rooted yet.
Maybe a future update will fix this....?

DO NOT do this!! I did this on my own note 10.1 2014 after a bootlooping issue caused by corrupt files on my sd card (or so Ive theorized), and after doing so, my software showed as CUSTOM in the settings, and would not let me access the update servers. It was only after restoring the firmware via kies (a long and involved process, though less than odin, which probably would work too) that I was able to get it back to "Official". So unless you want to go through what I did, DO NOT factory reset via recovery. Id recommend doing everything else possible to fix this first.

Ok my question is this.
Deep inside my apps manager there is a phone ICON and no phone icon on the tablet anywhere else and no where to access this green icon.
How do I get the Icon from the manager and onto the phone somewhere ?
Its not in any of the trays or apps page etc. Its no where to be found but it exists deep in the apps manager. I dont want to use Voice and all the other BUL$&%T voice over IP junk apps.
I want the green phone Icon that is hidden deep in the device accessed some how
Again
It doesnt let me hard press and move the icon from the manager and its NOT anywhere else on the device.
If you have a real answer that I havent covered above then help me out !!!!
You must be rooted first and if you want to delete it use no bloat free and if you want to move it use root explorer and system apps are under /system/app or you just go to app manager and turn off anything you want but beware what are you doing

Sprint doesn't enable phone calls on the tablets. The closest to tablet Sprint provides with phone functions is the Galaxy Mega.
Until recently you could use Google Voice and a number of other products for data-based voice services, but Google is disabling that in May 2014.

The carriers can also enable and disable voice capabilities by line. This issue has been raised with data-network enabled tablets in the past. If the line isn't voice-enabled, no APK is going to change that.
But as always, YMMV.
Round and round nobody really has an answer just where we started before wasting time on this blog....
Has anyone ever found a solution to get this working? I have an sim-t217t that is unlocked, using a voice enabled sim on t-mobile and everything works fine except the phone app isn’t showing on the home screen and can’t get it to show and have tried several dialer apps that don’t work either.
I understand Samsung disabled the phone function on the US based tablets, but I’m sure by now someone has figured out a way around it?
There is definitely an issue with the on screen controls and Netflix, BBC iPlayer, TV Anywhere (Virgin) etc
Many people have complained on Netflix's Play Store page by giving 1 star and saying since the Netflix update you are not able to pause, scroll forward or back as the on screen controls appear for a split second and then disappear, but it isn't Netflix's fault as the same issue exists with BBC iPlayer (downloaded content playing back only - not streaming) and Virgin's TV Anywhere.
This only began after the OTA upgrade to 4.4.2.
Apart from my feelings that the battery is draining quicker, the navigation is not as fluid and the native video player sound is not as good, this update has proved to be a failure in my view.
I read that the bootloader was locked so custom rom is out of the question at the moment (I think, not that clued up on such issues) - but I wouldn't want to root anyway as it renders Sky Go and other apps useless.
Can someone shed some light as to what is wrong and how to fix?
No problem with BBC I Player. Don't use the other two. I'm rooted and been able to get rid of some of the Samsung junk. Can't run apk's as reported in another thread. Have you a link to the bootloader issue?

Hey gang,
Have any of you tried the new Chromecast Cast Screen feature yet?
It keeps 'Connecting' then 'Disconnecting' for me.
My girlfriend's Galaxy S4 works perfectly on our Chromecast but on my G3 it doesn't.
I can't help but wonder if it's the QHD screen it's struggling with. The G3 is one of the supported devices so I'm assuming that it's been tested.
If any of you guys have had success it'd be helpful to know.
It's an AWESOME feature by the way!

Hey gang,
Have any of you tried the new Chromecast Cast Screen feature yet?
It keeps 'Connecting' then 'Disconnecting' for me.
My girlfriend's Galaxy S4 works perfectly on our Chromecast but on my G3 it doesn't.

Firstly are you on ART or Dalvik?
Try clearing cache and data for the Chromecast app then uninstall it, reboot and install from the market and try again.

I'm on ART. Do your think that might make a difference?
I'll try changing back tonight.

The behaviour on mine is as follows:
I click on Cast Screen
The app says its Connecting
The picture on my TV goes from default Chromecast wallpaper to a black screen
The app says its Disconnecting
The Chromecast icon in the notification shade continues to say its connecting
Then NUFFINK!
My girlfriend's GS4 connects immediately with almost no lag.

I have been on ART since I got the phone, and at the risk of taking this off topic, I am starting to believe that most of the benefits of being on ART are actually placebo (just converted back to Dalvik and the phone feels exactly the same).
I will be testing casting when I get home.
Don't tell me it doesn't work either mirror cast is bobbins so I got one through the £18.99 TV deal

Exactly the same as what I had been getting (but I was on ART). I know some people on here have said they got it working on the G3 though, so something must just be preventing ours from working.
Someone said you need the latest chromecast app beta which is not avaliable on App Store yet for mirroring to work so where is it?

The Chromecast app in the play store is the one that is working on my girlfriends GS4. The feature is in Beta but the app is just the latest version.

1.7.4 is the one with Cast Screen enabled.
Mine is working now, I did two things so please try them in order (1 first, then if that doesn't work try 2)
1) Clear Cache and Data on the chromecast app, uninstall it, reboot then reinstall from the play store.
See if cast is working
If not try step 2
2) Switch to Dalvik
One (or both) of these two things managed to get screen mirroring working for me.
Will it cast the 4k video I recorded to my tv

Success!
I first tried step 1 but no luck. Step 2, switching back to Dalvik did the trick.
And as ART currently makes no real perceptible improvement IMO and experience I'm happy to stick to Dalvik until a bit further down the line.
Cheers LennyUK!
