[Q] T-Mobile M8 Unable to Mount Internal Storage? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I need help pretty bad with my HTC One M8 on T-Mobile.
I am able to access recovery (currently TWRP) but all attempts to restore my phone have been unsuccessful. I cannot Wipe, Restore (from backup on SD) or Sideload any new images. And I constantly receive the error "E: Unable to mount 'data'" and "E: Unable to mount internal storage".
I unfortunately have S-On (I wasn't able to get to S-Off via firewater), and I am able to unlock and relock my bootloader but attempting to flash with RUU fails from "Signature Verification error" and the desktop RUU installer constantly fails!
Is there anything I should still try? Or am I screwed, I cannot seem to find a way out of this one.
Thanks everyone!

[Q] Turn S-Off in recovery without SD?

Hi there, I'm having a bit of a crisis, I'll try and describe as accurately as possible:
- I decided I wanted to install a new rom, with Android 2.3 and HTC Sense 3.5
- The rom required going back to to the stock hboot, which as far as I know and can tell (I'm far from even averagely knowledgeable) turned S-ON (the hboot I've got now is 0.93.0001)
- It also required a 1024mb Ext4 partition on my SD card, which I created
- The rom got stuck in a loop at boot, so I entered recovery to try and restore my previous rom (which I had backed up both on the SD card and a copy on my hard drive)
- While there I discovered that recovery was finding an error with the Ext4 partition, and wasn't able to mount it
- I went back and reformatted my SD card to get rid of the Ext4 partition, thinking that if I was restoring to the rom I was using previously I should put the SD card back the way it was
- I transferred the hard drive backup of my previous rom onto the SD card
- When trying to restore the backup I get an error saying:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /sdcard

- Googling and looking around here led me to download the Android SDK files and attempt to go through fastboot to "USB unbrick". I've tried
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
Click to collapse
Which works, and
fastboot oem eraseconfig
Click to collapse
Which doesn't, presumably because the phone is S-ON
- so I go to adb to try and turn S-OFF by following the steps here: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting, because I figure it's likely to be the same way for a Desire as it is for a Desire Z. When I try the first command ("adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/) I get back "error: device not found". This is despite fastboot commands working, and the SD card showing up on the PC if I mount it through recovery.
That's everything I think so far. I've tried a few solutions here and on various sites, but everything fails.
If anybody has any suggestions they are extremely gratefully received, whether they work or not! I'll try anything, really.
I think that if I can get the SD card to actually mount I'll be good to go; I'll be able to restore my previous rom and all should be well. But I expect I need to find a way to turn S-OFF for anything to work? Is that right? And is there any way to do that another way using adb (or getting the adb method I was trying to work) or without an sd card/an actual loading and running operating system?
Again, anything at all appreciated. I think I've included all the information I have?
Thanks!

What made you think that what works on DesireZ would work on Desire?? There's a separate section on that wiki for HTC Desire. Just sayin.
If you want root, check http://revolutionary.io
But don't go ahead and do anything yet. Your story is lacking some info. So what was your old rom, what was the new one you tried. How did you manage to change the hboot? If you weren't using stock hboot before, then you should already know the correct tools to s-off your phone. Oh and one more thing so do you have a Desire or a DesireZ??
Please post more information from hboot (start phone with pressed volume down + power button).
In my opinion the best way for you is to flash 2.3.3 RUU for a fresh rom and then use revolutionary to get S-OFF and root.

Flashed without Correct CID

Hi Everyone,
I did a boo boo. I flashed my One X without a supported CID with the Android Revolution 14.2 ROM. Is there a way to correct this and revert back to my previous ICS? Help please.
There's a Q&A section especially for Questions and Answers, please use that in future.
That being said you wouldn't have been able to update the hboot so just reflash an ICS rom

I'm having problems moving an ICS ROM to the phone to flash it. Whenever I connect the phone to my notebook, the MTP USB device driver is unable to install. because of that Windows could not recognize the phone. I also tried to mount the sdcard in CWM. It is giving me a 'unable to open ums lunfile..." error message.
Is there any other way to flash the phone? I tried "fastboot flash zip rom.zip". It showed OKAY for the copy, however, a second line remark "writing 'zip' ... FAILED (remote not allowed)" appeared. The process then was aborted.
I also tried formatting the sdcard and then tried to mount the sdcard. Same 'unable to open ums lunfile...' error constantly appears. Just afraid that my phone is now a brick. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Install a version of CWM that isn't ancient, I.e., 5.8.4.0.
I suspect that I hard brick my phone now.
Following some advice to "fastboot flash recovery recovery.zip", not the phone is unable to even get into recovery mode. when I select recovery, it just comes back to the bootloader screen. I tried to flash CWM again and the message I got was "error: cannot load cwd....img"
Funny thing though, when i select HBOOT, some messages appears and disappears saying "Failed to open sdcard, dalvik, cache, etc. etc." I believe that is why windows is unable to recognize the USB drive and is unable to install the drivers.
Have I hard brick my phone?

No, everything is recoverable, if your phone won't turn on at all, then you're bricked for real.
Just flash the one from here:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
then put in the same folder as fastboot and use command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
Thanks everyone for the advice. Really appreciate it. I finally managed to use TeamWin Projects and it allowed me to mount the USB. Managed to then transfer an ICS ROM for flashing.

[Q] Phone will not boot

Unable to mount /system/, /data/, or internal storage. Was attempting to switch to GPE. Can not flash roms due to the mounting errors and i can get into recovery, and hboot. I am s-off. If you need anymore info please ask.
Edit: When trying to boot i get HTC logo with a unlocked pad lock at the bottom.

Stuck on HTC Logo at Boot + Possibly missing partitions

With all the buzz about Android 5.0 lately I hastily decided to flash across the latest and greatest. So of course it turned out I needed S-Off for something (because it never gets to be easy) so after running various hacks in an attempt to get S-Off I noticed that I couldn't boot into Android. So I opened up the recovery and tried to sideload across a stock HTC KitKat ROM. When I turned on the sideloading function I got the following error: "failed to open driver control: No such file or directory". And this wasn't the first or last error that I would get. for example, if I tried to access my /sdcard partition I would receive the error message: "E: Can't mount /sdcard". To me this seems like either my partitions have been deleted or corrupted.
Other directories I also cannot mount are:
/data
/firmware/radio
/firmware/adsp
/firmware/wcnss
/sd-ext
Note: I am running PhilZ touch as my recovery.
Hi,
I think you should try to upgrade your bootloader with a Lollipop compatible one (4.16.1540.8 for example).
Maybe during the upgrade the partitions will be recreated.

Wouldn't this require me to have S-Off? Which is the problem in the first place, when I tried to get S-Off I bricked my phone.
But did you have S-OFF now?

HTC ONE M8 Unable to Mount, Wipe, Install or Flash new Recovery

I am running TWRP v2.8.1.0 and I've tried on this phone already years ago to fix this issue but to no avail but i'm back and trying to tackle it once again.
If I try to wipe I get the error message "unable to mount /data", "unable to mount /cache", "unable to mount /system" and then a "failed."
If I try to Install anything I get similar messages
If I try to flash a new recovery via fastboot I get the message "Writing 'recovery' FAILED <remote: 'image update error'>
It's like i'm completely locked out and unable to boot into the OS also for whatever reason (CyanogenMod) last thing I remember possibly doing to cause this was flashing a new CyanogenMod at the time years ago and then I turned it off, turned it back on and nothing would work anymore i'd just be stuck on the CM Loading boot screen.
Phone is HTC One M8 with **TAMPERED** and **UNLOCKED** + S-ON.
Thanks for any help!
Bump! Please Help!
