1) IP67 waterproof rating. Water resistance is a requirement for a smartwatch. Can't go swimming with it, unlike the Pebble. Not sure why they couldn't have made it more waterproof since you can't open it up.
2) Optical heart rate sensor - nice, but is it reliable? We'll see.
3) Battery life was estimated at 2.5x better than LG. YMMV big time on that though.
Yes an AMOLED display is a huge plus for a smartwatch. It's a shame that Google does not allow modification, because a black Google card design would increase battery life significantly more

so do you think the BestBuys slip about the TI chip means its running the Google Glass SOC?
Why does the moto 360 have a black semicircular patch on the bottom? They say that it houses the display drivers but I saw another video in which the screen was perfectly circular.

That houses the display driver and light sensor I believe.. I don't think there is a video that actually shows a functional watch with completely circular display... All I know of are the promotional ones from way back when

Lol dude that isn't a video of a functional watch. That's just circular images imposed on the image of a moto 360. Truth is all those images didn't consider the black bar at the bottom

It's for the display driver and the ambient light sensor, check the TechCrunch Moto 360 Hands-On

Hey all
Asus has thrown their hand to the Smartwatch market. This Android Wear device features a curved display similar to that of the Gear S, the specs are not far off either. Its a nice looking watch with a leather strap that is certainly an improvement over some of the plastic straps we've see on some smartwatches. Specs are no different from other watches that were announced which is a little bummer. But I like the look and strap. I'm hoping better battery at least via mods but we don't usually see so many developers jumping on ASUS products and that's a deal breaker for me

why on earth is there a snapdragon 400? how much power do you need on your wrist for notifications, a snapdragon 200 would have bben better for battery life and price no?

The size of the other round watches and gear live have put me off as u have small wrists. This one, although big might be better. Agree though, not sure why snapdragon 400. Bet it's under clocked! I'm always weary of Asus screens too having suffered with TF201

Then how do you explain this? It's for a different feature, but I actually prefer the muting option.. I don't mind using other means to turn the watch face off or letting it auto-off.

Proximity or touchscreen. Same in LG Watch, you can turn off the screen when cover it by your hand.

I like this smartwatch better than others, it has nice leather strap, sleek design, curved screen. Only thing that concerns most about these smartwatches is the battery backup , how about these manufacturers implement additional battery in the strap, or some technology which will empower watches using body heat, wrist movement, sunlight etc.
My concern is that is not edge to edge. There is black borders around the display. Will only black watch faces look good then? What do you think?

Personally, I'm considering this over the Moto 360 due to a better fit with Android Wear / Google Now cards and other info. Half of my watches are square anyway so roundness holds no inherent superiority for me.
From a specs perspective though, the review on pocket-lint has this to say:
Unnoticeable to a passing glance, the base of the black frame surrounding the screen allows you to check your heart rate by simply loading the app and then placing your finger on the watch. Seconds later (15 to be precise) the watch delivers your stats for you to see how you're doing.
The nearest experience we can relate it to, is Apple's TouchID Home button on the iPhone 5S. The bio sensor works really well in the ZenWatch.
This is maybe worse than other Android Wear solutions that have the HR sensor on the back bezel against your wrist. But I've heard you basically have to stop and stand still for it to work anyway.
Also IP55 is a bummer...dust tight (not proof) and water resistant to splashing, not sprays, and def not immersion. Moto is what, IP67?
Battery is 369 mah which puts it in the middle of various watches. Screen is AMOLED so that should be helpful if you like dark faces (which I do).
As far as I can tell, there's no always on mode, unless that's part of Android Wear?

Very wrong, I have a galaxy gear 2, gear live, and a gear S.... All of which have ambambient light sensors and tThe gear S even had a UV sensor on top of that to determine if the UV rays at any given time could be dangerous. Anyone that thinks different try to explain the auto brightness adjustment of the display. And you don't believe the UV sensor just say it and I'll post some pics of it in action. I got my Asus zenwatch on order and will be arriving on the 18th but ican't imagine it wouldn't have alight sensor.

Yes there is an always on option in android wear and even a never dim option while charging in the un-lockable developer options. The Qualcomm TOQ had abattery in the band's clap on the under side and it was horrible, I only kept that watch for a week, not being able to change the band's on the bulkiest watch there is was adeal breaker, still was cool for being one of the first ones out though and the charging set up for that was the best I've seen to date, wireless charging with a sleek little case that holds blue tooth headsets and when you push a button the charging pad slowly would raise to a avertical position to accommodate for setting the watch up against it. Very well thought out.... And no screen yet can compare being that they look better in direct sun light than they do in the dark, wish there was a happy medium there.

True, sorry I do always forget about all the Samsung range as they aren't all android wear but I take your point.
The way the screen cover to silent function works on my LG G watch R I believe is through multitouch with the palm of your hand rather than any sensors as there aren't any on the watch. Maybe the Asus does the same
App support?
Does anyone knows if Asus has an Android app to compliment the watch (Like the Moto360)? I just returned my Moto to Costco (Yes they have crap load in stock) because I saw the Zen online......
The Moto actually is alright as the battery last all day (after you do a couple of cycle thru when first charged). The Zen watch to be looks more elegant and has some nifty features.

They do and I believe it is called "ASUS ZenWatch Manager", you should be able to find it in the play store.
No WiFi, no GPS, and only IP55 (i.e. unusable for snorkeling) makes this one a loser in my opinion. Plus, heart rate monitor, aside from being a mere gimmick, will most likely be buggy, hence unusable.
What do you current owners think about getting a moto 360 w the elusive monolink for 199 on moto maker?
I'd say either wait for the 360 2 or get an Urbane. The 360 is nice, but the Urbane is nicer in my opinion. That being said, I do like my 360.
But urban is more expensive and it looks like more of a dress up watch and the 360 can go both way, also I'm interested in the monolink since you cannot find anywhere or buy it separate also there's some people saying that 360 band will fit V2 that's for your feedback just looking for people's input

True. Well if the flat tire doesn't bother you, go ahead and get it. The flat tire is probably my one complaint with the watch. I get good battery life during normal use and I like how it looks, and I imagine that it will only get more useful with the 5.1.1 update. As for the monolink band, I read somewhere on here that you can find an exact replica of it (including one in black, which I don't think Motorola offers) from a third party supplier on Amazon, but if you don't already have the watch then you might as well get that band with it (it's definitely the best one).
Well i ordered it yesterday i just like the way that monolink looks on the moto 360 for 199 i think its not that bad hopefully a moto 360 v2 isn't announced right away and at a affordable price like 199. I could find the monolink or replica any where i searched every where ebay and amazon googled it and nothing that why i made the decision to buy it cuz it seems it is the elusive unicorn as people have called it hard to find.
Awesome! Well enjoy it. I can't find the post that I mentioned, and I can't find anything on Amazon. Maybe I made it up? Oh well, you got the monolink band anyway, so congrats.

The problem with the Urbane is that it is bigger than the 360 while at the same time having a 30% smaller screen surface. No thanks. It is also more expensive for no reason.

It's not bigger, the g watch r is bigger barely..... I have the LG R and 360, I didn't get the urbane after playing with it because it's exactly the same watch as the lg g r but in a slender profile. I love both of my watches but they both have pros and cons.... The moto 360 shelf life will probably be very short due to the TI processor...
P.s before you say the lg is huge it's not strapped on my wrist, it's propped up for the camera

Well, it's easy to see that G Watch R is significantly larger than the Moto 360. And with 30% smaller screen area. A smartwatch should maximize the screen to bezel ratio, because the screen is already small by nature. Moto 360 does just this.

2nd generation still has the flat tire display, and it is still 11+mm thick. That kills it for me. Any hope on the Android Wear front? I see Samsung has already thrown in the towel, what with its new fancy-looking Tizen watch. Anything on the horizon?
I'm thinking seriously to shift to huawei watch, its really gorgeous !!, but I'm concerned about it coz it doesn't have ambient sensor and the heart rate cannot be tracked daily ( the wrist heart rates are not accurate; so bahhh). So I'm hesitant between moto 360 2nd gen and the huawei watch, for the samsung watch, i didn't like the tizen os (from my perspectives). U feel that its a beta OS.

Yea u r right, the flat tire is not a big deal.. However I'm more leaning for higher screen resolution (400x400), Amoled screen, and sapphire glass, I'm just concerned about sports sensors, many hauwei watch users reported that HR reading is freezing on several sports apps and its not accurate therefore its worthless for sports tracking. I'm still waiting for official reliable reviews to take the decision.

The HR sensor on the gen1 360 was definitely crap. But on the gen2 so far it's been pretty great. Reports to Google Fit every 5 mins pretty consistently, even. I haven't gone through the exercise of actually doing point by point comparisons with my FitBit Charge HR for consistency, but its definitely in the right ballpark. When I do side by side comparisons of the 2 devices they're pretty close on both HR and pedometer. Not trying to evangelize, just adding a data point for you since there's not much out there on the gen2 360 yet.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Huawei's screen. They seem to be plagued with reddish blacks when displaying what's supposed to be pitch black. I have one, and was impressed with it, until I noticed the faint red glow on black watch faces.
I also have a 360 v2 on order. I thought I would return it in favor of the Huawei's supposedly superior screen, but now I'm not so sure. The Moto may not have pure blacks, and has a faint glow in ambient mode...but at least it's SUPPOSED to. The Huawei isn't.
I wasn't even going to open the 360 before returning it, but now I'll be sure to try it out before I make my decision.
Hello,
i bought a Galaxy S7 Edge (was an Iphone 6 Plus and Apple Watch User).
But now i need a new Smartwatch. Not really sure if i will buy the Moto 360 V2 or the Huawei Watch.
In my opinion the black little sensor bar on the Moto is a disturbing.
But more important for me are the WatchFaces. It seems as the Moto 360 has more Whatchfaces (like the Repo Faces of some luxury brands ) than the Huawei Watch?
Is this point right or can I get these Designs on the Huawei Watch, too?
Sorry for my bad english,my friends.English isn't my main language.

IMHO watchfaces are not relevant at all in the choice of a smartwatch, as it's always possible to find the wished watchface somewhere or to design one by yourself (using Watchmaker).
More important to consider are the hardware differences (design, screen, etc.) and the price...
Most Android Wear faces are compatible with most of the devices and it's usually stated if they're not. The only big issues can be square vs round watch faces and low resolution, since the Huawei Watch has a higher resolution screen

I'm really a Newcomer in this topic. So i can't make Whatchfaces by myself and so i am depend on the developers of this great Designs.
Most Watchfaces which look good for me are designed for the Moto. But i don't know if it's such a problem because of the Screen Resolution.
If not I would go with Huawei. All in all,the price isn't an important point for me.
I can't buy a Tag Heuer Connected but the price between the Huawei and Moto is ok.

Most of these watchfaces even though they were originally released for the moto will work on Huawei. I have many of them installed on my watch and they work just fine. I have not used this source which you have mentioned but I hvae obtained them from other places like facerepo. You will need to purchase the full version of Watchmaker however

Maybe you don't know this site:
http://www.watchawear.com/watches/watch-faces.html
There are hundreds of free watchfaces to be used with Watchmaker.
And actually even a child can learn to use Watchmaker..
Watchmaker and Huawei watch works perfectly. You can use any round watch face no matter if it was designed for Moto or not.
Never had any issues.
Here you can also find plenty watchmaker watchfaces: https://plus.google.com/communities/106982503578105386202
I think his main concern is that Moto faces all have that flat tire look and it carries over to the Huawei watch. But they don't..that area is covered up. As an example look at this watch someone with a Moto posted: https://plus.google.com/photos/1132...202&sqsi=25e11c8c-fc50-42c4-95d4-fea916b927cd
I just installed the same watch face and took a screenshot of it (look below). It looks just fine Not flat tire and the resolution is fine.
Also when you install an app like WatchMaker, you can customize the watch face as you want, changing colors and shortcuts etc.

Thank You very much.
I thought that the Black Sensor Bar would be on everyone watch because they are made for the Moto Watch.
Am I right, that the link i posted earlier would be in Fullsize without the Black Bar?
In Facer they have all this Black Bar.
Thank You for your help.

I have a Virtoba X5 Elite VR googles and it works fine with the Moto Z Play.
It looks like its the same as the Procus Pro but without the built in headphones.
On the Virtoba X5 Elite, can you give more info like how it feels to wear, lenses any good, any light bleed in from the sides etc?

The Virtoba X5 Elite is fairly comfortable to wear. The padding around the face is quite soft.
The lenses are very good and clear. If the room is bright, then there is a little light bleed from around the edges. Overall very impressed with it for the cost.
