is it possible to port pdroid or any of its alternatives(pdroid 2.0, openpdroid) to a stock rom(UCLJ3)?
if yes, then help/guidance is greatly appreciated !
Hi
Well yes I thought about that, too because of integrating it into sediROM but it is not compatible.
I currently using the xposed framework + Xprivacy which works fine with sediROM (which is based on stock ICS).
You could give it a try (doing an Nandroid backup before is highly recommended though).

hi xdajog,
thanks for the info bro, is xprivacy as good as the original pdroid?

I was never able to test pdroid actually because always running on stock based ROM's (like the one I created btw). I will definitively add xposed + xprivacy in one of the next sediROM (ICS stock based ROM) versions.
Xprivacy is very stable has many (more) features and is active developed and well it works with ICS stock based ROM's without porting etc. So what else do you need?
you should give it a try IMO.. (or wait until it's included in my ROM).

I've been on CM nightmares for a long time. Need a bit more stability though.
Is there a stock-based ROM that uses the AOSP apps (ie messaging etc.)?

I believe he's looking for a TW rom that has AOSP apps. As far as I have been seeing, the framework is different so that can't be ported as easily.

Correct - That's what I'm looking for.
There was a thread that had all the AOSP apks that you could copy to system, but I thought there might be a ROM in existence that already did the process and maintained it.
No worries - I'll flash back to stock and see how long I last.

Hey guys I am still learning how to compile roms and I was wondering if people are interested in the at&t latest firmware update... It runs very stable and fast. I think it works better than the international JB on the LT28at.
I have manage to get root into the rom, deodex it, and will debloat it.
I would like to make a slim- stable ICS rom for the Lt28at.
What I need help is in how to compile it using kitchen. Some guide of reference? Thanks

To slim down a stock ROM all you need is root and titanium backup.
Ti-backup can uninstall any app, user or system.
If you already have root then just get ti-backup from the market.
I suggest you install CWM recovery and make a backup. With a backup in place you can remove system apps one at a time to find out what apps you need and what you can uninstall.
Google is your friend when you get stuck.
Debloating a carrier ROM has been talked about a lot.
Also deodexing the ROM will slow it down a small amount (hardly even noticeable). But unless you are going to add modifications to the ROM (like init.d support), then you do not need to deodex.
Use Google to find out how to create a ftf file for flashtool.
Good luck

Thanks, yes I ended up doing that. I was just wondering if people were interested in the 6.1.c.1.111 firmware.

Hey, I rooted 6.1.C.1.111, installed busybox, and init.d. I want to deodex it and make a flashable Cwm rom, in my opinion I like ICS version more than JB and it will be of benefit for at&t users to flash this rom.
I have deodex 6.1.C.1.111, I will upload it as soon as I can. I will also like to make a cwm flashable rom for this version.

Thanks for this. Too many problems for me with JB. Tried lots of roms on my LT28at. Lots of cool features with the new firmwares. But, I just want everything to work.

Hi all,
All in the title, i'm interested in this tablet, but i hate overlays like touchwiz & co (i don't know the LG one...).
Is there a way to have a "pure" android in this tablet ? Cyanogenmod isn't officialy supported...
And i read somewhere, we cannot install the google play edition rom in this one.
Any idea ?
Thank you !
Try a different launcher. I recommend Nova.

Thank you ! But that's not a matter of launcher ?
thats why people install custom roms, to get rid of useless bloatware like samsung's touchwiz which consume memory and storage. Try mahdi rom if you want a pure android system experience (its based at google nexus android). Its super clean, fast and stable.

I had cm11 installed but it had some weird bugs that others users didnt have though and i installed mahdi, its perfect.
The procedure to install a custom rom is:
1)root using dailingrin's method
2)install a custom recovery (i recommend you drgravy's twrp 2.6.3.2)
3)perform a data wipe and install the custom rom and the google apps package from the custom recovery menu
Thank you ! i'll try that when i'll receive the device !
Our CM builds are official. And they're rock solid.
Which one ? I thought CM was not officialy supported on GPad ?

Yes, I guess that page is not up to date as the gpad isn't on the list for unofficial support either.
On the CM download page it's known as the V500
Here's the link http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=v500

I use Titanium to freeze things first before uninstalling and make backups before removing. I found the best way to debloat was to start from scratch; backup apps+data, flash a minimal ROM, minimal gapps, and just install stuff as and when I actually needed to - I have very little running or available that doesn't get used and tons of memory free to use when needed. No Samsung apps to be seen at all.

Stock ROM have GApps included, so you can't flash custom GApps only if you want to root and flash custom ROM.

I prefer SlimKAT to others at the moment and I have no issues with it at all. (I have a Slim version 7.4 that is not available generally at the moment - just testing it. The latest 7.2.1 has no reported issues). That is not to say you will like it or that everything will work ok for you, but its fun trying out these things. Most people use other gapps such as PA or BaNkS I think but the Slim gapps I use currently are from the SlimROM web site here.
Just to clarify, SlimKAT has no gapps included at all. It has a basic Nova launcher but very little else in the way of applications.
thanks mate, iam running slimkat for a few days and seems to be very battery friendly.
Hello, I have Samsung Galaxy S Glide AKA Samsung Captivate Glide, Rooted to 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with ATT Rogers Rom. Kernel Version is 3.1.10
Basically the problem that I have is when I am at school and have my WiFi on I lose connection. I have to keep turning on and off my WiFi because the orange down arrow stops as I only get upload then. I heard its because there are many routers at my school therefore it has problems.
Also when I log in to snapchat, snapchat minimizes it self and goes back to my app screen no error was giving it didn't even say snapchat has stop responding.
Sounds like a kernel (or better kernel wifi module) issue.
Try CM or sediROM.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Kind of odd that WiFi works at home perfectly fine but not at school. Should I update the Kernel first with keeping the ATT Rogers Rom? or should I just totally update the Rom to sediROM or CM?

Well that depends on your own. I strongly believe that this is a kernel issue so you could start with that. The sediROM installer contains all available ICS kernels but you should not use the installer when you do not want to INSTALL/MODIFY a sediROM installation. But within the sediROM zip so after extracting it you will find several kernels/bootimages in /custom/..../ (don't know the exact subdir atm) but you will see it.
But BEWARE: you can easily at least softbrick your phone if you do a mistake or choosing the wrong kernel. So if you don't know how to unbrick or if you really depend on your phone you should think twice the same for installing a custom ROM like CM or sediROM of course (even the risk of failures are minimal here)!
Do never skipping backups of device, efs, etc regardless which way you want to go! Get familar with unbricking your device and keep adb in place.

Edit: Funny thing is it works if you create a new account
Edit #2 also updating ROM didn't help with wifi

1: pls contact snapchat support. Seems to be not a problem of ROM or phone
2: well you can try other ROMs until you find a good one. Or you could give sediROM a try if you like. After installation test wifi. If it is not fine you can restart the installer (like reflash but then choose "modify mode" in the setup screen) and choose another kernel there.
Test wifi and if it is not fine restart that procedure with another kernel!
If you want to try the 2.0 BETA write me a PM it contains even more kernels. That way you could try all available kernels to find the one which is best working for you.
