Hello,
I installed ViPER4Android Audio Effects in the effort to make my phone speaker louder, and, perhaps, sounds better.
However, after installation, I played around with all the different settings.
And for the life of me, I can't get it to sound anything decent. In fact, stock sounded much better, sans loudness.
Please kindly share your settings, I would like to mimic them.
Thank you.

Viper 4 Android is really geared for headphone & IEM users TBH. for the regular speakers it just crackles and makes the experience worse

No crackle on my notesss or tabsss. In fact sounds great!
I mainly just use Viper for my headphones but when I turned it on for the speaker, I didn't hear any crackle. As far as settings, I just play with it until it sounds good for me.

[MOD] Hey guys here's a link to ACiD Audio Engine. I've been using this audio engine and the results have been pretty great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002367
Use the universal installation in aroma and remember if you install walkman don't install any add-ons.
I personally skip the walkman installation and use the noozy add-on.
Please do a nandroid backup before trying and do not install on top of nocturnal's music mod.
Remember not to use music player equalizer as the installed app changes sound system wide.
Thanks for viewing and give thanks to the acid forum if you find this useful.
lol i read this as Give ACID a shot. I was like i like this guys thinking.
Never the less, great find, gonna try this out.
Dude you just made my day lol.
Make sure if you use Walkman not to install any sound add on as it will conflict.

I changed the link to get to the universal aroma app. Sorry for any confusion.
Does anyone know if this can be mixed with the beats audio mod? Thank you.

Sorry dude, they state pretty clearly that you shouldn't install on top of any other mod as it will cause issues. I personally wouldn't do it all though you could always nandroid back.
What is every ones opinion on this? Is this better then beats audio?

The links not working.
I tried the nooze option and I didn't really like it. The bass is still distorted. I need a driver that adds more power like DPS Manager from CM

Did you go into the noozxoide EIZO-rewire app. That's where you adjust all settings and it has more options in it that alot of other equalizers don't. It lets you adjust from megabass to other various engines.

Yeah I did. But what I need is more power to handle it. A lot of bass but little power doesnt sound to good. My Galaxy Nexus did provide it and it sounded flawless.

I get what your saying. I have beats pro headphones but, not a good gauge of power since they use batteries. Good to hear though.

I tried the beats addon and same thing. I would love for it to sound the same as my Nexus. I really miss that phone.
I'll try the walman and see if I notice anything different.
It looks like someone did it with Samsung source last year.... First time I've heard of it in a tw rom....
Anyone else dumbfounded by this being set so low? This was the reason I started running aosp roms on my EVO 4G.... And kept with them on my Galaxy SII.
Why isn't this more important to people? Music sounds like poop over bluetooth.
Anyone know of a fix for the Note 3?

someone actually did this with the Samsung Captivate Glide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880298
I would LOVE this to be fixed once and for all by Samsung, but....doesn't look like that will EVER happen....
Basically highs sound too compressed and scratchy almost...am I the only one who's almost quit listening to music from my phone in the car because of this?
Thanks

I missed this post, but thank you!!!
I just made the changes, but haven't been out to my car yet. Hoping for the best, but honestly, not expecting much. What do these changes do? I'm gonna google it, but....I'm asking here too.
You're welcome ^^
From what I googled: it reroute your audio stream through main CPU instead of special DFX introduced in JB+, the Low Power Audio decoder -lpa.decode- (thus increase in batt usage like playing music in pre-JB Android)...
I would be glad if it works for you as well ad solve your problem ^^

I was super excited, but ...it didn't work. Highs still sound like poop. It's hard to tell sometimes, but, when my random playlist hit In The Mall by Weezer, it became very obvious that it still sucked.
the cymbols in that song are pretty isolated, and that's where you can hear the static compression. just sounds terrible to me...and i'm far from an audiophile...
Thanks for responding though!
Ah yes, its still suck but better than using LPA Decoder...
Still have to find a way to make it at least listenable....
I'm an audiophile... And this problem made me crazy...
Some says that its intentional by Sammy, coz Sammy use APT-X protocol for streaming music (maybe its their marketing strategy to make ppl switch to Samsung Level headset/APT-X compatible headset?).

I didn't mention it in this thread, but I think last time I tried an AOSP rom for this phone, I still wasn't very impressed with the sound quality. Have you tried? I think I tried a PAC-Man rom a few months ago....

Umm, nope... I never tried AOSP/AOKP anymore since my Note 2....
And I give up using bluetooth for music, can't bear the sound quality...
I tried Viper but it stuttering too much, and I don't like equalized/tuned sound... I listen to music as-is....
I'll try to get cheap APT-X bluetooth headset (not $500++ headset as I'm cheap )
I love my tab S and maybe this is the best screen I've seen my whole life.
But one thing bothers me that, I've been using the s and note devices from past 3 years, one thing I always did was Boost the sound for Speaker and the Headphone in the Mixer paths xml file.
I've searched this tab for a similar file and have got absolutely nothing.
Any good developer please help me out, if you can find that for it would be a great help

You could install my ROM and use the DSP manager, it also uses mixerpaths though a more serious answer is look at the comments it should point u in the right direction.

you can edit default_gain in system/etc
I thought xml edit only applied to CM/AOSP/GPe roms.

I've attached some screen shots to what you need to modify to increase your external speakers along with headphones.
You'll need Root Explorer or equivalent.
Let me know if it helped.
It's best to raise the digital volume it sounds less distorted ...my setting are +12 to all digital volumes and sounds great
Just to to clarify, you only need to raise the digital volume? I'm going to give it a shot.

I have tried that and multiple others. Some work well, some dont.
None have given me what I am looking for which it the ability to boost things like system volume, notification volume, etc. Still looking for a way to do that.
The best that I can accomplish is boosting media volume via a music or video player. If that is all you are looking for then the equalizer and bass booster will work fine.

Is there a way to turn the volume boost off for notifications but keep it on for music in Bluetooth?
I don't need the lock sounds increased
Ballsy for trying this. Greatful for confirming. Thanks. It works awesome.
Man this thing is LOUD. Good stuff!
It works but for me too loud. Hasn't really added much more quality just made every volume crazy loud
Im sure everybody already knows this but if you want to keep Viper make sure to install the Audio Mod Library it allowed me to keep my Viper setup after install and both are working great!
Holy moly! It is really working! Definetly better than stock!

Hey all,
So as the title says really, I'm trying to use a third party equaliser in place of Sound Alive with no luck.
I really wanted to try Viper4android because I've heard fantastic things about it, however I'd rather retain the warranty for my phone, so I went looking elsewhere. A lot of suggestions on the forums praise Noozxoide as a good equaliser, so I thought I'd give it a go over stock. Except it distorts all sound when I use it. This happened with other non-root equalisers as well.
I've tried disabling Sound Alive and Sound Adapt in Package Disabler, it just won't work; all distortion.
Any way to fix this?

Without root you can't get better sound than stock Dolby.
