I use XBMC 13.1. I tried SPMC but one thing that bugged me was some buttons can not be accessed by the AFTV remote like XBMC could. It is a minor thing.
Everyone has their own picks. Try both and see which one you like the most.
I've been running kodi/helix alpha2 for a few days to good success was on 13.2 betas before that.. Mediacodec as well as a few other bugs seems to be ironed out in helix.. Only downside so far is a few skins seem to have issues but confluence and aeon nox seem fine.
Any settings to make aftv faster?? Xml??

I have installed the kodi Nightly of 28th November along with the confluence ++ skin from elmerohueso.
He has addressed the tile placement issues along with the power options. We take a lot from this community in terms of questions but rarely come back and say thanks. So far I have a perfect setup and I haven't seen any issues with kodi along with the updated confluence ++ skin.

This morning I was testing a whole bunch of launchers to no avail except this one I found on a Chinese site ---> http://translate.google.com/transla...w.nduoa.com/package/detail/283904&prev=search
It's neat (my opinion) and I will like to use it as my main launcher, kind of late for work but I think I saw some aftv launcher helper in an earlier thread will try when I get back home. For some reason the Fired tv 1.1.5 has stopped manually loading when I boot up (framework everything update)
I've uploaded some pics

This looks interesting. I'll give it a try tonight. I'm using NOVA and love it except for the system wallpaper issue. I wonder if this uses it's own wallpaper or uses the android system wallpaper.
Here is an official English website.

They also have an Afire Tv Launcher that looks like Windows 8.

Cool find! I'm anxious to try them out after work!
Neat!!!! I tried one similar to the Afire Tv Launcher but the settings wasn't opening up but i'll try it again later because the one i did wasn't named "Afire Tv Launcher"

For those of you that are running Nova Launcher on firetv. Can you use the firetv remote or is a mouse required? I have found that some launchers wont work as they were not intended for non touchscreen devices. Let me know.

The remote does work with Nova, as well as Go Launcher, Apex, and pretty any others you can install as far as I know. I probably wouldn't recommend Go Launcher, though, even though I do use it on my S4 and Tab 3 8.0. On the Fire TV, it just acts a little odd. For instance, when you bring up the menu for preferences, etc., practically nothing happens when you click on the available options. If that's not a big thing for you, the rest of the launcher works fine, you just can't really tweak that much.
I use square home launcher (tablet edition) and it works perfectly. It supports live wallpapers and I use aftv helper with everything in unison.
Can someone please post a recent version of the apk for Fire TV's version of HBO Go? I want to see if I can get it working on an android TV which does not yet support activation with Comcast. Thanks!

This is the latest AFTV HBO Go apk. It shows as v1.1 on FTV's although the details of the app say it should say v1.3.

I already tried this recently. Didn't work.
The AppTuner Software is a new sideloading tool which lets you manage your Firestick or Box completely.
With a few clicks it will unleash the full power of your Fire TV or Stick.
It provides a easy and intuitiv User Interface for managing a Firestick, Box or Android TV with 1 Click Installations.
Download and try the AppTuner from https://www.apptuner.tv/

After the app can download apps it falls into a different security zone. I will purchase a code signing certificate the next days. This will fix Windows Smart Screen issues. Hopefully it will also prevent virus scanners like Bitdefender from being skeptical towards FireTuner
Thank you!!! Amazing
Hey very cool app. It makes it a lot easier to sideload anything to the devices. Thanks for your work. I have one question/improvement: Could you implement a "back" for each category, so that it would be possible to switch the categories (e.g. from Manual Tuner to Premium Tuner and vice versa)?

- Added new Wizards to Wizard Tuner

I noticed you have pre-packaged builds for auto loading. I would like to request an option to backup and create a build which gets added as a "custom" build (with naming option) for easy re-load.

Cool stuff! Thanks!
Is there further information on the different packages You can decide for installation?
Interesting app. Nice that it discovers your Fire TV without having to enter the IP, but sorely lacks documentation. Loads of mysterious builds/apps. No idea what most of them are, or whether they'll overwrite Kodi with some pile of add-on infested turd.
Tried to install the two emulators. Neither downloaded properly, or installed.
Bit wary of it, to be honest.

Yes it is safe. Microsoft ClickOnce deployment uses the .application file as the recommend way to publish an app. You can read more about it here http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fileextensions/f/applicationfile.htm .
Thanks for feedback. I will prioritize this feature.

Thanks for feedback Claude.
- I added support links to the different Kodi Wizards and Kodi Builds.
- Thanks for reporting I will look for dead links as soon as I have time for it
This is Amazing
Thanks for helping me out with this I really like the simplicity.
I was led here by this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fir...lete-kodi-setup-repos-common-add-ons-t3140269) and using the backup of the post with the help of this tool.
I was really overwhelmed thinking about it. The fact that I had to do a lot of research to get this accomplished. Now I can just focus on the content in the builds. I see its really hard to find out what exactly is optimal for the performance of the Firestick. There are so many builds.
Kodi hasn't wowed me too much on PC with the few repos I've tried. Most have to buffer issues, which is annoying. I have 100mbps connection I should be fine or maybe it's a server issue where the repo is hosted.
Anyways a big thanks to you guys.
Although the Fire7's display has a 16:9 aspect ratio, videos are always stretched with black bars at top and bottom due to its non-square pixels. (THIS ONLY APPLIES TO 5TH GEN FIRE7!!!)
I slightly modified VLC to compensate for that error.
Please note that this only works for hardware decoded videos (h264, h265 but not webm)!
It's based on the latest beta version and I changed package name and icon so you can run it side-by-side with the official version.
Hope you like it...

You have to request developer access and give reasons why you need it - like - what devices are you going to support.
I did request it but as this is really useful to a single device only I'm not expecting them to grant it.
What do you think about the new player hud buttons? Which ones do you prefer?

Okay, I see. It had the original vlc buttons. I didn't like them as the stretching is very apparent with round buttons.
I will use one of the two you suggested although the 30 day expiry could be a good motivation to update regularly

Do you know if it would be possible to implement this for a ROM? Like system wide? So that it would correct it for the entire system instead of just VLC?
