is this even possible to edit apk from google play? becuase everytime i take the apk to my computer than i try to install it wont let me or wont work right and i just change the picture of the wallpaper..

Edit: i want to change the wallpaper picture of the galaxy s5 locker ANDRE-X, becuase the resolution there too big for my phone and i just want to replace the picture but there is a lot of wallpapers there so i dont know what i need to change can you help me?

Well you need a guide about how to sign an apk so you have find out how to signed some time when we modified an apk it dnt install also its better make a flashable to flash it via recovery!

i dont know how to upload a file on here but if you got email ill send the apk to u. then all u do is use root explorer and copy the file into system/apps and overwright the one whats already there. if it dont let u then click the r/o button at the top and try again and it will work, then bingo u have transparent keyboard

Just tried to install this but it asked if I wanted to uninstall the stock one? Don't really want to do that as I may never get it back.

if you want the old one back just have the apk saved and do the same again with the stock apk

cruznec linked you to a good page but it makes no difference weather you do it as a zip of mount it urself. the zip will do the same it will replace ur stock with the transparent dialer

before installing mine.......get a backup of the original one using root explorer.....copy it from system/app into ur sdcard........
u got it backed up......
now if u wish to go back then just replace the apk frm my zip file with the backup apk and flash it

Because i messed up my system icons trying to change them i need new ones but i dont know where to get them. If anyone kind enough has a spare icon pack i can use them to make them ics blue or just keep them as a backup.

You can get them from a stock ROM zip by deompiling the apk they came from. (SystemUI/ framework-res, etc.)

Opening the ROM isn't the same as decompiling. If all you need are .png images, rename the .apk to .zip, open it, then navigate to /res/drawable or similar and select the icons you need and drag them to the desktop.

if you just want to change icon or the picture, the easiest way is by open the apk file via 7zip then copy the files into it. its also work if you change some of the script. just put the scipt back to folder. I've used this method to modify systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk. it works fine for me.

Anyway I want to add a notification background to my systemUI, and/or change the statusbar color. I know what to change but I do not know how to compile APKs, so if there is anyone out there who would be willing to do it for me it would be great, I can send you all my files!

It's possible, but you would need to flash a custom ROM that supports UI customization to do this.
Swap out images with the same file name using 7 zip but don't extract the ROM

Swapping out the PNG's only works on the computer I've tried on the phone but no dice. Again, make sure you do not extract the ROM, or changing the images will not work!
Correction: NinjaMorph in the Google Play store can alter images from the phone, though its a little bit harder to use in my opinion.

Okay, so I have downloaded Ninjamorph, and I somehow can not find the .png for the notification background for 4.1.1. I'm on the stock ROM, Do you happen to know what the file name is?

I believe that is a hex value in one of the xml files. you would need to decompile and edit the xml to allow custom png images as the background.

For some reasons the Smart Rotation feature is not enabled on our Grand, thank you very much samsung aka sam sucks.
But fear not my XDA friend, for Uncle Fab has made it available for you, right here and right now:silly:
This mod is for 4.1.2, but if someone wants it on 4.2.2 I can make it as well (in this case you'll have to upload 4.2.2 SecSettings.apk and framework-res.apk). You have to be rooted, and probably deodexed (although it may work on an odexed ROM, but since mine is deodexed I can't tell for sure).

INSTALLATION:
Easy, download the attachment, flash it through CWMR or TWRP, clean cache and dalvik cache, reboot.

As stated in op, if you want it for 4.2.2 upload your settings apk and your framework-res.apk somewhere and I'll do it for you.
My Rom is home made unclefab's Rom but sorry, I can't upload it for now cuz my current connection is too slow. Anyway, change your whole phone's dpi to 180, your androidsystem.apk to 110 and your systemui.apk to 130, and you'll get more or less the same look.
