Hello everyone,
I'd like to apologize for only trying the search function once or twice. I could not get the information I was looking for, maybe I searched the wrong way.
My girlfriend owns a gt-i9195 with:
baseband: i9195xxubnb3
firmware: jdq39.i9195xxubnb3
PDA: NB3
Phone: NB3
CSC: ND1 (XEF)
So, if I understand this correctly, this is the "French Open Firmware" version. I read numerous news, that for the i9195, kitkat is available. However, it seems, nor for her version of the i9195.
Now, normally, I wouldn't care. I like to experiment with my phone, but she just wants a phoen that "works". However, it doesn't. It freezes during calls, on the lock screen, sometimes it doesn't wake up. I already did a factory reset, that didn't change anything.
So, my question is: does anyone know if there ever will be a update to kitkat for this "CSC"?
There seems to be a KitKat update for CSC "DBT" with I9195XXUCNE6 [DBT] [4.4.2] Germany
Could I flash this? Or would that brick the phone?
For my Xperia SP, I can basically flash any firmware for any country and it will work, as long as it is for the "C5303" Version of the SP (C5302 might also wotk, but I would loose LTE support... but the phone would still boot and everything). Same with Samsung Phones?
My hope is that I9195XXUCNE6 or any KitKat Version is more stable...
Thanks for reading!
The German DBT firmware is multi-CSC - IMHO it should work. You can flash it with Odin.

ok, thanks. is there a way to go back, in case it doesn'T work?
for my xperia sp, i just keep a .ftf of whatever works and if all fails, i can boot into flashmode and flash it using flashtool (FLASH!!!! AHAAA!!!!).
As far as I know there's a Brazilian Jelly Bean firmware available which uses the same (new Knox 2) bootloader as the Kitkat firmware. So IMHO this is the only way to go back to Jelly Bean.

Flash a version of TWRP (2.7.x) and do a Nandroid backup including data partition. Keep the backup safely copied to pc or wherever so you can always go back.

Just reflash the rom with Odin and do a data/factory reset afterwards.

Same here after flashing the Dutch firmware on the device. Kies doesn't want to have anything to do with my phone anymire. I even have a dialer now that doesn't respond to the *# codes... I tried factory reset etc. But without luck regarding csc. Ah well, phone works pretty well and we indeed have Odin.
Interested though when you find a solution!

I am in a similar situation as some of you in this thread. I run my GT-N7100 on the stock ROM that it came with, I have not rooted the device or made any such changes to it. All I've done is to add the accounts and install the apps I need, seeing that my phone is my primary tool when o the field. Kies (version 2.5.0.12114_1, running on Windows 7) connects fine to my GT-N7100, but gives me the following error message:
Firmware information:
Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
On this one, I am not sure whether this is really an error or not. Some people say that it sits there until there is an update available and then will update. If someone can confirm this to be true, maybe the text is just a cryptic piece of text saying "you got the latest firmware so I can't update it for now"?
I am running following firmware: PDA:LJ13 / PHONE:LJ2 / CSC:LJ4 (XXX). I have no idea what XXX is supposed to mean in this case. If I've understood it correct, it should give a hint about the countr/region, i.e. Korea and it should be (KOR) instead? In my case that should be (NEE) seeing that I reside within the Nordic Countries (according to the SamMobile Firmware Page).
More detailed information about my firmware:
PDA: N7100XXALJ3 (displayed as "AP" when performing *#1234# on my dialpad)
PHONE: N7100XXALJ2 (displayed as "CP" when performing *#1234# on my dialpad)
CSC: N7100OXXALJ4
From the SamMobile Firmware Page:
Latest firmware info
GT-N7100 - Nordic countries
PDA: N7100XXALJ3
CSC: N7100OXXALJ4
Version: 4.1.1
Modified: 2012-10-17
Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
So far so good, I hope? To me it looks like a match. It is the latest firmware for the Nordic countries. However, Kies still gives me the error message about the firmware above. This brings me two questions
Is it really an error or is it just a piece of cryptic text?
Is my phone up to date as it should be? If so, why does Kies give me the error message about not supporting my firmware?
Now, hold and behold, there is yet another firmware out there:
GT-N7100 - Nordic countries
PDA: N7100XXALJ1
CSC: N7100OXXALJ1
Version: 4.1.1
Date: 2012-10-03
Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
The one above was released 2 weeks before the firmware I am using. My phone did not come with this firmware, so I haven't updated anything. This makes me wonder: is there something between these two firmwares that makes Kies act the way it does? If so, why? It makes me no sense.
Since Kies is displaying me what is a possible error message, I can't see if there are really any updates there for me. When I select Tools --> Firmware Upgrade and Initialization in Kies, I get the error message "GT-N7100 does not support initializing". So, obviously, something is wrong.
Now this brings up yet another question: If Kies is refusing for whatever reason to support the firmware I have now, will the phone's software update (found in "About device") be enough to download Jellybean 4.1.2 once it is available for the Nordic countries? I know I can always use Odin to flash it, but I would prefer to keep it as simple as possible.
Anyone have a clue what this could depend on? Firmwares and these kind of errors is not really within my area of knowledge, so please forgive me if I have not all details in place. I know there are many questions in my post, but it would be great to get a more in-depth answer and explanation to what this could be about. I am stuck and this is what I've researched over the past hours. I don't know if it is to much of help, but this is as far as I got. Quite frankly, I don't know that the hell to do at this point...

Flash stock ?
Sent from my GT-N7100
So, i'm tempted to flash Omega or Android HD ROM on my Note 2, but i'm worried about a few things...
I already have the phone rooted, and from what i've understood so far, i can use triangle away to make it look like it was never touched, in case i need to go to warranty (please correct me if what i've said is wrong).
Will i be able to make it look like it's never been flashed/tampered with, if i flash a custom ROM and i have to go to warranty?
Let's say i DO flash a custom ROM like Omega or Android HD and a button isn't working anymore, and it's surely a hardware problem, naturally, i'll have to go to warranty to get it fixed. In this situation, will i be able to flash a stock ROM and fool everyone that it's never been flashed/rooted? And if yes, how? I'd appreciate a description of the whole process.
Hope i've been able to explain myself well enough to get an answer.
Thanks in advance!
You would need to find the stock firmware for your device and then flash it using odin

This is my device's info:
Model number: GT-N7100
Baseband version: N7100BUALI8
Build number: JRO003C.N7100XXALIJ
Is there any way to find out where to get my stock ROM?
Depends what country you from and whether the phone in it's original state was branded to a specific carrier or not.
If you know that then go to www.samfirmware.com and search for your stock firmware
eg: if you're from UK, and your carrier is Vodafone, then you would choose, "United Kingdom (Vodafone)" firmware. etc..
After you download your firmware, then flash with odin, and make sure that the flash counter is "0" using triangle away, and that's it. The process of reflashing a stock firmware to your phone should unroot you automatically if you are rooted.
Yes, my phone was branded and locked to Vodafone, Romania, but i've used GalaxSim to unlock it (YAY!).
I've searched SamFirmware for the ROM that i should have, but there's only one for Romania ( http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=7110 )
I don't know if this is the one that came with my phone, but i guess it should be ok, right?
Later edit: OMFG, the ROM is 1.3 GB
Even later edit: Damn, HotFile is so slow T_T''
I tried a lot of stuff on the phone, but finally I'm out of ideas.
I tried to update a GB (europe) I8160 phone to the CyanogenMod 11.0 (Ace II)
http://maclaw.pl (and others)
But I didn't get any network connection.
Finally I realized that I need to update to Stock JB to get the updated base version (and so to get the network connection back)
So I flashed it with odin, which said pass.
But I get a boot loop with no possibility to geht into CWM recovery (just the samsung start screen)
So I flashed back the stock GB with odin, still I get the same result.
Any ideas? I would like to update to the newest version of CM WITH network connetion,
otherwise a phone wouldn't make much sense...
Thanks in Advance
Are You using three-part-odin pacage? If You updating from GB to JB You must have rom with PDA, CSC etc. You have tutorials in general section. Cheers.

No I have been using the one file package from the stock roms (just as PDA)
I also checked the tutorials, but I've only seen for how to down date to GB
I guess I start to get confused (I already tried it for 8 hours+)

No, i flashed a branded JB version of my home country (Tmobile, Austria) because there is no unbranded one for my country
Added:
I forgot to mention, that the phone isn't charging any more since I flashed JB, I just get the loading screen (for the battery) and that's it.

No need to respect country (all languages are there in every version, except non-Latin-based ones) unless you care for bloatware or the lame and half-broken updates via Kies
Charge the battery for a hour in recovery mode if you're not sure (yes, it always charges, but without OS control it will do at the slowest speed...)
Download http://d-h.st/6QB and unzip it once
Boot in odin mode, load PIT, CODE (PDA) and CSC in Odin, click Start, go make some coffee and come back

Unfortunately I have to tell you, that it's not charging, (as recovery is not working) and the boot is not successful..
If i brick it, (incomlete flash) it's charging, no idea why
i barely got it flashed and it' sup and running now.
What do I have to expect now?
Do I have to exchange the boot loader again (it should be rooted still)?
and then I need to flash the CM11
Thanks for your help!
everything finally worked, CWM recovery, rooting and the latest CM11 (as mentioned above), and quite fast with the given flash files!
I actually searched for the 3 part flash files, but I had no success finding them (online)
Thanks for the help

U can`t change landcode without root + Samsung Galaxy S / S2 / S3 CSC or with Phone INFO ★Samsung★
But your current rom MUST have Multi-CSC and contain both ( 99% it won`t )
Easiest way is to download rom from sammobile for Netherlands (Vodafone) and flash it with Odin

As far as I know changing the CSC will factory-reset the phone (Phone INFO ''CSC Changer' tells that as well).
I saw that Titanium Backup is backing up CSC application and data. Does anybody know what happens if one restores the CSC data with TB? Does this work without factory-reset?
Reason for asking is that I had a strange issue yesterday: flashing with ODIN failed 'Get PIT for mapping...'. The phone was starting up with the message 'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again'.
I removed the battery and then I could flash the firmware without problems. Later after setting up everything I noticed that my CSC changed from 'DBT' to 'KOR'
To be honest, I never had to change the csc. The european firmwares have multiple CSCs included are the right one should be chosen automatically at first boot up after flashing. And I really dont understand what CSCs really are. So I dont care about them. Flashing the belgium fw worked as well as the german one. Couldn't fnd any difference (accept for the Hello app^^). European people are bothering themselves way to much about this topic...
Hi All,
I have a problem, its on my wife's phone which makes it a huge problem, shes not very happy with me at the moment.
Her ACE 2 GT-I8160 was running very slow.
I used KIES to update it from 2.3.6 >> 4.1.2
After flashing the firmware with KIES the phone was running very slow, seemed like it wasn't able to handle the new software.
So I tried to flash the firmware back to 2.3.6 using odin.
My wifes phone was bought "off carrier" as a factory unlocked phone.
I downloaded the UK firmware cause I could not see any for the Irish region (we're in Ireland )
"Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 H3G I8160NELG2 Android 2.3.6 06.07.2012 1164437 Unlock Download File"
From what I understand this is the correct stock firmware?
Anyway, I flashed it using odin and now the phone will not get past the samsung logo.
I can boot into download mode but not recovery.
Any help would be very much appreciated and will definitely make my life at home a lot easier.
Cheers.

You have to flash the Russian 2.3.6-firmware first (I8160XXLK6) that consists of three seperated files for ODIN (pit, pda and csc). You can choose it on sammobile, look for the firmware checker to search their firmware archive by model and country (as a new member I am not yet allowed to post the link here).
After flashing your phone should be able to boot again. On this linked page you can also choose the correct Irish provider branded 4.1.2-firmware (METEOR, O2 or Three) that you can flash afterwards if you still want to.
Do not forget to do a factory reset after each flashing procedure!

Thanks for the reply Borgkubus.
Before I saw your post last night I had in fact flashed her phone back to Jelly Bean and was able to open the phone correctly. So flashing back to 4.1.2 got me past the boot logo freeze.
But now I am back to the original problem, the phone with the latest software lags and is so slow to do anything, its very frustrating to use it, so I need to investigate how to fix this.
You talk about installing the Russian ROM, whats the thinking behind this? Would I be able to install this russian rom and then flash to an Irish 2.3.6?
I am a bit apprehensive about using a PIT file, the last time I used one I messed up my S3. Is it safe to use the Russia rom and them falsh to an Irish 2.3.6? This might speed up the phone.
Also, one last thing, doing a factory reset after the flash, what does this do? My understanding is that it removes all user info, will it speed up the OS also?
Thanks again Borgkubus.
First of all, nobody can guarantee the safety of a flashing process. However, by following the common rules when flashing with ODIN you can minimize the risk of a brick. Just do it as soon as you know what you are doing.
The thinking behind using the Russian ROM (XXLK6) is the following: It's the only firmware on sammobile that consists of 3 parts, including the Gingerbread pit file for repartitioning. Doing so I never had any problems when downgrading to 2.3.6. And of course you can flash an Irish firmware afterwards, the Russian one is just an intermediate step.
The factory reset is needed to get a clean install. I recommend you to do this every time after flashing another firmware. This might also solve many problems such as boot loops, lags and so on.
Happy flashing,
Borgkubus
