I'm on stock Rom & have the LG wireless charging Dock & using the plug/cable that came with the phone & I have to say it's the most annoying wireless charging experience I've ever had.
The G3 constantly lights up the screen while charging, either to tell me it's a slow charge & i need to use the LG cable & plug or it's telling every 2 to 3 % it's charged up.
It gets to 92% and it's lighting up & making all kinds of sounds every god damn % it charges.
What's going on with the G3?
Anyone else getting this problem & how to fix?
I got the same setup but don't have any problems with it at all.
That's strange than. I wonder why my set up is causing so much trouble?
Same setup here and I got those annoying pop ups too, I've simply disabled those notifications in TweaksBox and the device charges perfectly all the same. You may find the option to disable without being rooted but I have no idea how.
Edit: where did you purchase your dock from?
The problem is likely to be your placement on the charger, the G3 seems very very picky about where it sits on QI chargers.
If you have it placed in a spot that is on the boarder between a good placement and a bad it will keep switching between slow charging and regular charging and will make various bleeps (and the screen turning on) every time it switches.
If you get the placement correct the screen will only come on and it will only make a noise when you first start charging and when the battery reaches 100%.
If you keep it on the charger for a long time, like all day it will start to discharge once it reaches 100% then will beep etc when it starts to charge back to 100% again.

This is my first LG so not 100% confident about rooting it yet. But unsure about returning it to stock should I need to.
Fair enough, (my first LG too, lol, they make a great washing machine but I was a mobile sceptic) however it is a very simple process, take your time and do some reading there's really a myriad of possibilities being rooted thanks to awesome ppl here. Anyway just wanted to let you know there is a way stop those notifications and for me charging is almost as fast as USB, also positioning didnt seem to matter with the notification pop ups so thats a bit weird but of no concern.
Elsewhere someone mentions to be sure and use a 2A power adapter, that even 1.8 gave them the issues you describe

Possibly, however, the official literature states "Use LG G3 transformer" so it should be okay and besides I get very quick charge times despite the notifications and now lack there of.

I have tried both a 2A & the 1.8A that comes with the phone - I get the same annoyance with both.
To have to Root to successfully wireless charge a phone with no problems is crazy.

Well it looks like I may have found the answer to my problem.....
I did a hard reset of the G3 & did not do this mod.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/mod-root-rid-lag-g3-t2819365
So far wireless charging is now a pleasure & works successfully. No beeps & on screen charging warnings. Bliss.
Running the phone without ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/mod-root-rid-lag-g3-t2819365 not that laggy, maybe I just need to do hard reset.
But for now I'm staying well away from..http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/mod-root-rid-lag-g3-t2819365
Hope this helps anyone else who is having wireless charging problems.

What was the point of this thread?
And yes I am aware of the issue u speak of being as it is widely known that the phone is less responsive to touch while on the charger.
I found using crappy chargers will really show this issue.
With one the screen is unusable.
It sounds like it converts over to mains power to allow the batter to charge, however the battery is sucking the majority of the power from the line so there is not enough to fully power the unit...

That the developers can contact him, or they can just take off the piece oof code, and there, we have good working touchscreen, it will also be ffaster and more responsive always.

Because the kernel makers add the water proof touchscreen optimizer, something like that, that makes it able to use while water is in your screen. But if you disable it, it would be a lot faster.
these strange issues are usually caused by cheapo chargers
it doesn't do this when you charge via a computer USB or wall using the original stuff
a decent build quality of china made wall / USB chargers will also work fine.
it all comes down to the quality of the power regulator in the charger

Well, it happens to me in all ports, in all USB cables.
Happens to my GS2 on *any* custom ROM with the stock charging pieces. The stock firmware never has touch-lag when charging - ever. YMMV.
This is wht I'm trying to say
For those a bit confused as to what 'Ghost thouch' is, and why it is removed:
Samsung added a bit of code to the touchscreen driver on the non-intl version of the note to detect 'ghost' touch input events, similar to the raindrop detection on the original Motorola Atrix (and others). While a nice idea on paper, this had un-intended consequences when trying to perform multi-touch input that continues longer than around 5 seconds; such as playing some games. It is now disabled in this kernel.
Edit: There also seems to be a pleasant side effect that I hadn't noticed... keyboard input is improved. Makes sense I suppose, since now there isn't this constant check for false touches slowing things down. Let me know if you see this on your device.

I have this issue too no matter which rom is being used or which charger im using. If there is a way for me to disable that "water drop" thing im sure many would take kindly to that.
Its a samsung thing. I've had several samsung phones and the touch screens always goes wacky while charging
Knowing that this is my last resort and with all the wonderful knowledge here on the forums, I'm hoping I might get some creative ideas.
I recently bought a Tab S 8.4, rooted it about 2 weeks after I got it. No problems, everything is working great. Last week, the screen starts to flicker and the tablet reboots randomly. When it does this, the battery goes from 100% down to 12%. Eventually this happens enough where the tablet won't stay on for longer than a minute. Read around the forums and find others mention the exact same issue. Potentially a battery pull/re-plug may alleviate. Tried that to no avail.
I have found that if I hold the battery plug in place *real* tight, by pushing down with my finger, the tablet operates somewhat normally. Could be a motherboard issue.
Anyone run into this at all? Thoughts? Ideas? Replacement parts? I've got a $500 brick on my hands now with no warranty to boot. :crying:
Thanks in advance!
I soldered my battery straight to the board. But before doing that, try spraying some contact cleaner (found in hardware stores) and see if it Will work

I found a local electronic repair shop that said they could re-solder it for me relatively easily. Brought it in and he said it did look like the terminals on the battery plug had been pulled back a little bit and weren't soldered on there very good (good to hear some type of confirmation on that and he let me view it through a microscope as well). Twenty minutes and twenty dollars later, my tablet is working as it did previously. I've used it sparingly over the last 2 hours, so nothing definitive yet, but the fact that it doesn't restart right away makes me think the issue is resolved.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!!

Battery Results
Just wanted to follow up with everyone that might be experiencing similar issues. After fixing the issue, and de-bloating a bit, my battery life is phenomenal. Much better than when I first got it. I suspect the battery issue was causing some drain as well, even when it wasn't restarting. The attached screen is still with 35% battery left.
Thanks to all those who contributed to this thread. I too was having battery issues. I'd get random restarts, disconnects from the cellular network, forgetting wifi passwords, battery that would go from 50% to dead in three seconds., display glitches etc. I finally opened up my tab which I thought was going to be a pain but was actually pretty easy. By naked eye the solder joints looked fine but under a microscope I could see that all six solder joints on the battery connector were cracked and by pressing on the connector could see the connector move independently from the PCB. Resoldered the joints and everything is good now.
Well my problem is that the battery isn't charging, I get a battery with a red "X" mark when the screen is on but when it is turned off, its charging well but very slow and when it reaches 99% it never goes to 100%. Could it be possible I have the same problem as you guys? no random restarts for me just the issue of sucky battery life (3 hours on wifi) and not charging

Are you using the stock Samsung charger? Just plug it into the wall and it should be fine. Don't charge from the computer or use a different charger
Got that same problem. My tab will only charge up to 60% under 6 hours. Batterystatus app shows that my 2amp wall charger is just charging at 300mah +/- . Tried my power bank, same issue. Changed the cable and the reading from the wall charger is 1800mAh , could top up the battery in 2hrs

I have experienced this. Flickering of the screen which eventually leads to reboots. Got it fixed at a samsung service center. You rooted it but you're on stock ROM right? I think there's a problem when we root it and stick with the stock ROM. When I rooted my tab again, certain apps started FCing which lead to lags. So I'm gonna wipe this and start from scratch.
Hello,
I bought this phone on taobao in China, used. Everything checks out so far, but just to be safe I wanna make a post here.
I checked that it has odin mode. S Pen works with air view and everything. CPU Z showed it having a Qualcomm processor. I'm in the safe right? There's just one thing that's kind of weird. There are 8 marks on the phone that look factory made (i.e. not damage for careless use) but are weird and kind of ugly. 4 on top and 4 on bottom. It interrupts the metallic bit surrounding the phone but they're perfectly square. Just wondering if all Note 4s have this because I don't remember ever seeing it on a Samsung Phone before.
Other thing is the adaptive fast charging. It doesn't seem to work even though I have it enabled in the settings. I've tried it both ticked and unticked to be safe. I turned the phone off and tried it with different chargers that I was told were "fast charging" including a xiao mi charger. All of them said 2A but none of the samsung stores had a charger with that lighting symbol on it. Either way, it never had that "fast charging" message at the bottom when the phone was off.
Could having a ROM on this phone mess with the fast adaptive charging at all? Like disable it or anything? The ROM the phone had reinstalled is "Aurora" if anyone is familiar with it (It's in Chinese so I can't play around with it much more to find out anything else). When I boot up the phone it also says "Seandroid not enforcing" whatever that means.
Should I just try buying a charger from the XiaoMi onlinestore, which is supposed to also be Qualcomm 2.0 certified? I can't be sure if it's the phone that's the issue or people are just giving me what they think are the fast chargers, but are really not (or perhaps Qualcomm 1.0 chargers). With the XM store though, I'd be buying from them directly and shouldn't really have to worry about getting a fake charger, like I would going to the stores here in person or ordering off of taobao.
Thanks

I'm on 4.4. I guess I'll just have to try getting a charger. Mine has 8 marks that are mirrored. Wasn't sure if it meant they switched the case or screen
Ok cool. So it was the chargers not being qc 2.0. I bought an htc one that said qc2 on the box online.
Quick heads up for those of you also looking for a charger in China. The xiaomi ones seem to be qc 1 not 2. The one listed on the Qualcomm website doesn't seem to be readily available even though xiaomi.
So, I've been using wireless charging on my VZW G4 since I got it (using the LG charging back). Working like a champ.
All of a sudden it stopped. Have rebooted the device (and charger) and replace the cover. No luck.
The charging pad shows it is charging, but the device it not charging.
Any ideas??
Quite possibly a manufacture defect. Warranty should solve your issue if you didn't consider it by now.

I'm very curious to see if your issue crops up again. Please update this thread if it does since it looks like this is a somewhat common issue for those of us who are actually using the wireless charging feature: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/tried-wireless-charging-t3227672
Do you recall how long you were able to use the wireless charging before it gave out?
Yep, the only other person I know that has one is getting his replaced for the same reason...
I have the same problems with Qi Wireless charging. I made a thread on this way back in July and still active.

My VZW M9 just started doing something really goofy. Randomly it just won't take a charge, regardless of the charger/ cable combination used. If I restart it, it starts charging just fine with a regular or quick charge charger as it should. Also sometimes it just goes on these fits and will randomly start HTC car mode and turn on the wifi even though I have it turned off and the HTC car app disabled in app manager. I'll tap the notification to close car mode or turn off the wifi, but then a few seconds later it just turns back on. Also the auto-rotate will turn the screens even though I have it turned off. Sometimes it does this constantly for a while, then sometimes I will have no issues for a day or so at a time then when I think everything is OK, it will start doing it again. A restart seems to stop this for a bit, but then it just starts back up. It's really annoying.
I've tried booting into TWRP recovery, cleared cache partitions, and it still does it. I'm S-off, rooted and latest stock VZW MM (3.37.605.7)
Anyone else having similar issues? Just want to know if there's a simple fix before I try doing a factory reset and have to re-install and set up apps/accounts.

USB port clean.. tried a couple different cables too. All is well after a restart too for a while. It also does the stupid car mode (even though I have it disabled) randomly. Turns wifi on randomly when I have it turned off all the time.

I'm am on ifixit.com as I write this, going through the guide on how to replace that USB/headphone board. Doesn't look... impossible, but not easy. According to that guide so far, it appears it is a smaller, separate PC board that has the micro-USB / headphone jacks on it, and not attached to the motherboard itself. Looks like if it continues or gets worse, I may get a quote from HTC to see how much it would be to send it in for repair VS doing it myself.
Or... maybe it will just behave and work and I won't have to do anything...
