[Fix] fix download mode after ota on g2 with ported roms - G2 Android Development

Do this if you cant flash due to there being a .dll and model number mismatch in download mode when flashing with lg flash tool
I took the rom I last flashed. Opened it. went to the system folder and extracted the build.prop (opened it with notepad). Press the find button in one of the drop down menus and find the model number your g2 thinks it is and change it to what it actually is.( in my cause mines had a d801 rom so it thought was one instead of an ls980) I changed mine from d801 to ls980. Saved it (make sure its saved as build.prop). Now go into the rom you originally got the build.prop from and replace it with the new one adb push the rom to the phone in twrp then flash it. Then boot into download mode and flash away

Can i use CWM and EXrecovery (v19c) for v20c rom?
Hi @alamatnitotoy !
Me and my friend, who has su880, were testing the v20c kdz.
We flashed v20c kdz using KDZ updater, smartflash and even we tried the offical LG update upgrading from v19c to v20c.
After every way of flasing v20c the phone always stucked at LG boot logo. So We read back every partition from the phone and it turned out that the LNX partition, which contains the kernel, is empty. I mean the kernel was missing after every flash of v20c, but every other partition was okay.
We extracted the the every file from the kdz and the the kernel image was empty in this case as well.
I don't know what is it. Maybe we are doing something wrong or LG simply left out the kernel file from v20c?
Did you flashed v20c?

yes i did flash the v20c. I had that problem before also when using other flasher other than the kdz updater. also sometimes when its failing, what i do is i run the file "Root v20c" thru apx before using the KDZ updater to upload the v20c

Thnak you! The rooting-forv20c.rar contains the v20c kernel file.
I need CWM for v20c.Do you have it?
@alamatnitotoy I looked deeply into why flashing v20c brick your phone. My statement that the kernel image is missing from v20c was wrong. The kernel is there but an wrong place. When you use the extractor from P990 AIO toolkit to extract the image files from AP.bin file, the extractor shows you that which image file is at what OFFSET (or address) in the AP.bin file. Here is what am I talking about:
Code:
[01] address=0x00100000 size=0x00400000 // bct file
[02] address=0x00500000 size=0x00200000 // partition layout
[03] address=0x00700000 size=0x00200000 // bootloader
[04] address=0x00900000 size=0x00600000 // recovery
[05] address=0x00f00000 size=0x2bc00000 // system
[06] address=0x2cb00000 size=0x00600000 // kernel
[07] address=0x2d100000 size=0x12c00000 // internal sd content
These adresses also used during smartflashing. These adresses tells the smartflash where is the kernel image and system image and etc in the v20c AP.bin file
If you flash v20c and you read back the 12th partiton with nvflash you can see only zeros.
If you open teh v20c AP.bin file in a hex editor and you go to the 2CB00000 offset you can see there is nothing just bunch of zeros, the kernel is not there. The kernel actually at 2E000000 offset. Not just the kernel is at a wrong offset, also the sd-img is at the wrong offset. sd-img should be at 2D100000 offset, but in the v20c AP.bin it is at 2E600000 offset. So, when you flash v20c the kernel partition will be filled with 00 hex values and the internal sdcard got damaged as well, because the kernel image gets flashed to the internal sdcard. This cause the Stuck at LG boot logo effect, even if you flash v20c kernel to the righ partition with nvflash, because the internal sdcard is damaged.
Fixing v20c AP.bin file:
There are only 00 hex values From 2CB00000 to 2E000000.
Delete those 00 hex values, then the kernel image and the sd-int.img get to the right offset
Insert the same amount of 00 hex values as the amount of deleted 00 hex values to the end of the v20c AP.bin file to keep the size of the sd-int.img, then save the modifications.
I flashed this modified v20c AP.bin to my p990. I read back every necessary partition with nvflash and everything was okay. bootloader, bct, partitions, kernel, recovery, system are aon the right partition so maybe it's fixed, but I am not 100% sure just 98% because I don't have su880
I want to share you and with others the fixed v20c, so you can test. You can download it here
I want to share my google drive folder as well where you can find my works with su880. It has cwm for v19c and v20c. I also write a read me how can you flash it and root your phone with CWM. Well it was not tested as well, I am 98% sure it works, because rooting p990 and su660 stock roms works that way and p990, su660 and su880 almost the same. I use the CWM recovery image from "CWM for v19c".
My folder is here, some files are still uploading. I will notice you in this post when it is finished
There is no bootloader.img in the folder "SU880_V20C_CWM".Have you forgot it?

If you can go to S/W download mode then flash this with smartflash. If you can't go to S/W download mode use "Bootloader installer for v19c", and flash that rom I linked
I cant go s/w mode but volume+ power working. What should i do? Can u explain step by step? Where i can find bootloader installer for v19c?

You can use this tot file to get your phone back to stock KK:
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G3/Stock/AT&T+D850/
OK thank you for the file. However call me a n00b, but the file I downloaded was a tot file and the instructions say I should have a kdz file. Should I rename the file to kdz? The tool is looking for a kdz file.

So I had the same issue with my phone. I made a nandroid backup of my lollipop 5.0.1 and installed a MM rom. when I did it didn't work so I re formatted the phone and restored my back up, and I had no imei number, the phone said no service and I had an x at the signal bar. I tried everything, and couldn't get it to work, so after reading different topics, and random side topics, I found a soulution. after I re installed the lollipop version, I found the right modem.zip file for my phone. I used this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-lg-d850-20f-lollipop-5-0-1-extras-t3052041. download the modem.zip and put it on your sd card. re boot to recovery and flash the zip with TWRP. Than bam, you have your imei and signal back. Hope this helps.

the dm-verity is not started in enforcing mode and may not work properly

My phone is the ASUS Zenfone 3 deluxe (zs550kl) model and its bricked only can enter fastboot or adb still but my os will not boot I tried going to asus website for stock firmware (UL-Z018-WW-11.40.71.37-user.zip) and stock kernel (ZS550KL_Kermel_11_40_71_37.zip). how do I install these to fix my phone unless there is a better way to make it boot. by the way im new to android I always had iphone jailbroken until last year I am android now but give me noob instructions for the how to. maybe I should add this I already have adb/fastboot installed and the commands for adb devices or fastboot devices when in fastboot mode both recognize my device so maybe my commands are wrong or something but I tried every way I could toinstill firmware and not sure what to flash kernel as the zip or the file unzipped please help thanks in advance. Not sure why this happened exactly but my bootloader is unlocked already but was never rooted so if there is another way to install another custom firmware besides stock I would like those instructions also thanks again
first off your phone is soft brick meaning all you have to do is flash the stock android software back onto your phone.
install to sd card -> boot into recovery (stock or twrp whatever you have works)
flash from sd
let it load (this will work if you have the correct files)
it will reboot and will work good as new again.
you shouldnt have to flash the kernal, just the UL-Z0 file.
That would have worked yesterday but im having another issue now basically instead of waiting for a response on here I went ahead and did other stuff now my recovery menu is not showing up so I cant install from sd now the only option I'm getting is fastboot so is there a way to fix the stock recovery option or even install a custom recovery which might be eaiser because my bootloader is already unlocked. I was going to try to flash stock recovery my self but not sure how exactly I know I use fastboot flash recovery (recovery file name in the folder) and I think it's .img but not sure so I think it will be either .zip or .img file type but not sure what it will be called if it's stock or custom and not sure where to find either. Last issue I'm not sure of is the actual files I downloaded from asus.com the firmware for my specific phone model not working when I try to flash it as the .zip file so my question is do you need to do something with it such as edit the script of something inside the zip of it and I also downloaded the kernel for my specific phone model from the Asus site and not sure if I needed it when flashing stock rom back to device or how to even flash it on the device please help if you can and I know some questions might be dumb to you but remember I'm a noob when it comes to Android recently left iPhone and I was a pro there every phone had a jailbreak and all types of stuff so I know I can get this just takes time I'm sure
I have this exact issue with a new Padfone Infinity A86... No access to stock recovery, only fast boot... But in my case I'm even unable to flash the recovery.img from a firmware package...
I'm wondering if you guys can help this person, maybe there is something in that solution for my Padfone
1: download the full firmware package
2: use sdat2img to convert the sparse system image to a regular one
3: use fastboot to flash the stock boot.img & the newly converted system.img
4: hoping you didn't flash the recovery partition, if you did, reflash the stock dump from the file in my Bootloader unlock thread via fastboot
5: reboot to recovery & do a factory reset
Read the documentation at each step, do your research, learn the process.

Thanks
Can u send me the link for procedure
whats the current state of your device?
-> can you boot into Android?
-> can you boot into Download mode?
.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B41...ew?usp=sharing Extract folder / Move folder into QFIL folder as a folder not as individual files / load the firehoseprogrammer, patch, & raw / Flash / Remove battery / insert battery / hold volume up and plug in at same time until "download mode" appears on device / wait for drivers to install ? flash vs98627C.kdz with LGUP.
This will only work if the device bricked on 27C or earlier. If you know what FW version you bricked on the extract that FW and replace the appropriate files in the recovery image folder.

This will only work if the device bricked on 27C or earlier. If you know what FW version you bricked on the extract that FW and replace the appropriate files in the recovery image folder.

Help required to go back to full stock (remove TWRP etc.)

Hello,
I have Fulmics and TWRP installed, but I want to go back to full stock and official recovery. I have a back up of my original ROM, but no back up of the stock recovery (I don't think anyway... what partition is the stock recovery on?).
How do I replace TWRP with the stock recovery? I have looked at various threads but most of them seem to be out of date or not quite the same situation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Solved it myself (after multiple hours spent researching, trying different methods and temporarily soft-bricking my phone...)
As a brief summary for other people:
Download LG Flashtool 2014
Download LG G3 Drivers
Download correct KDZ file from here
Downloaded the Megalock.dll and put in Flashtool folder.
Put G3 into Download / Firmware Upgrade mode (Power off, hold volume up button and connect USB cable to PC)
Go to Device Manager in Windows, find 'Ports (COM & LPT)'; go to properties of the LG Serial Port, 'Advanced'-> and change the COM port to 41.
Run Flashtool.
Select KDZ file.
Click on 'CSE Flash'
Click 'Start'
Change language.
Click OK
Wait while hopefully it installs the ROM on to the phone and then reboots.
Sorry it's not more detailed!
