LG G3 MMS Auto activate mobile data? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Not sure if I’m in the right section but does anyone know the line (if one exists) I’d have to insert in the featureset.xml file located /storage/etc folder in order for when I send or receive a MMS message, the mobile automatically activates ‘mobile data’ then deactivates it when MMS has been sent or received? I’m currently using GO SMS Pro which supports this feature but I really don’t like using 3rd party apps for messaging as I much prefer the stock messaging app.
This is something similar found in the galaxy line series where one would need to add the line:
‘<CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>true</CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>’
to the features.xml file.

If there is any other way, can you please share.
Thanks

txt (sms) messages not sorted properly?

Hey guys,
I've got an annoying problem with my touch pro 2. For some reason, text messages in the sent folder are not sorted properly. For example, if i choose to sort them by "from" option (which is supposed to sort messages by contacts' names), all messages get jumbled up and i see several texts from contact X, then a few texts from contact Y, then again a few messages from contact X, then Y, and so on.
I also noticed that when i search for a keyword in my sent folder by typing that word, it doesn't find all the matches, but it only finds some of them.
One more thing is that i tried this with the sent folder of a new touch pro (Fuze), and i got the same problems! So i guess its not a problem with my device....but anyhow i am using the latest official HTC rom.
I just wanted to mention once more that this is a problem with the sent folder only, inbox folder works flawlessly.
I really appreciate it if you guys can perform the same steps and see if you have similar issues...or if you might know or can think of a possible solution for this sorting problem, i appreciate it for sharing it with me
PS: I've posted a similar thread in the Fuze section as well (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728299).
has anybody tried sorting messages by "From" to see if it works?.....
Hmm, haven't tried it (not that easy on the new HTC messaging client), but in the Sent Items folder, the From field would be your own name... for all messages. It probably uses time/date as a second sorting criterion.

thx for replying but what do you mean by this?
basically all i wanna do is to create a backup file for messages of individual contacts....so i have to sort them somehow and put specific messages (from each contact) together in one folder...
so do you know of a prog that does this for me so that i dont have to do it manually?
thx alot dude

[Q] save SMS in Sent Items folder in C #

Hi I would like to ask if anyone knows how to easily save your SMS messages in your Sent Items folder. I found option that can be used InTheHand the Mobile Library is a paid service. Then the library MAPI.Net but I could not find any documentation. Could someone advise me how to do it? I'm Sending SMS through the Internet and I want to save a copy of sent message to the default sent folder.

Q: can you attach pdf file to mms

Trying to attach pdf to a text message to send out work schedule to a specific group. I can attach pictures and video things but can't find a place to attach file. Any ideas whether even possible.
Yeah. Using a file explorer (I use Root Explorer), find the PDF you wanna send, longpress on it and a list of options comes up. Select Send (or Share, depending on explorer) and then select Messaging from the list.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
when i do that there is no option for message. It only goes to the email clients on my phone and bluetooth. Doesn't give me message option for some reason. is there a setting I need to change somewhere else???
Hey,
I mean as long as the file isnt to big you should be able to but why not just email the file?
For stuff like that, I upload it to Dropbox then send the link via sms. I don't know that it's even possible to send files that aren't photos or videos through mms.
dropbox works for me
Tmail app

There is an app called Tmail. It allows you to send any kind of file from your SDcard with an MMS message.
Here is the link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phonelight.tmailtrial
But it is only limited to the MMS size which is 300KB, too small.
It's not an ideal/perfect solution but I really like PushBullet. Not ideal because the recipient needs to install it also but the features are very powerful and extremely reliable and easy to use.

GV Integration Free

I finally got GV Integration Free onto my N7(WiFi only model). Here's how to do it. First you'll need a GV account and the GV app on your N7. Then follow the instructions below.
1. Download and install "MMS.apk"
2. Download and install "com.mdrtools.app.gvintegration.free-1.apk"
3. Open GV Integration Free and enter GV email and password
4. Select "Enable Integration" and wait for device to reboot
And that's it.
Enjoy!
EDIT: GoSMS also works with GV Integration.

It allows you to use the native messaging app or GoSMS to send text messages via Google Voice. I personally didn't like using the GV app to text and since you can't install this via the Play Store on a N7(WiFi model) I decided to share the apks for those who wanted to use something other than the GV app to send/receive texts.
This is awesome
GV doesn't group all the messages from one sender into a single thread and the interface is not attractive to me. I use GO Sms, and this allows me to use my favorite SMS application on my tablet. Thank you very much.
How did you extract the apk?
Great work! I have been using the apk you posted and have purchased the paid app on my S3.
On the Nexus 7 tablet, I keep getting the nag screen each time I get a new message, and I can't upgrade because the app is not compatible with the device in the market.
So my options (as far as my limited thinking allows) are:
1. Figure out a way to disable the nag alerts.
2. Extract the paid apk from my S3 and install it on my N7
How did you extract the apk? From Googling, it is supposed to be in /data/app/com.mdrtools.apps.gvintegration-1.apk and I should be able to pull it using adb, However, the apk does not exist in /data/app/ on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

You could do a Titanium Backup of the app on your S3 and transfer that backup to the Nexus 7. Then restore the app only (no data) on your Nexus 7.

Thank you. This worked perfectly.
I had to use this attached MMS apk (see link below) on cm10 stable with a GV integration apk that I can't upload here because its a paid application. The GV integration APK in the OP saying it was pirated.
Download MMS.apk: http://d-h.st/jmf

Not sure why it is saying it's pirated, it's the free version that I backed up on my GNex and transferred to my N7. So if you have the problem of the app saying it's pirated and have a device compatible with GV Integration then you can back it up with TiBu and transfer the apk to the TiBu folder on the root of the "sdcard" and restore it through TiBu.
Could someone please post a screenshot of what it looks like?
Will this work for Canadians?? I installed everything and the messages say they have been sent but no one is receiving them. I can make calls via gv no problem but this is my first time trying to text.

Thanks for this info. I got it to work with an inverted mms.apk, same one I use on my phone, but I'm not getting notification of a new message on my notification bar. I have it set in the GV Integration to "Always" for Notification Bar Icon. Are others that are using the AOSP apk getting it to show on their notification bar when you receive a text?
Sent from my VZW GS3
So I tried this out and it worked great!
I haven't been able to get chromp or go sms to work on top of it but just the default messenger app itself isn't that bad.

[Q] Sending and Receiving SMS in Korean

Rooted the phone and am running AOKP-PrimoC w/ Super Sick Kernel.
Is there a way to send and receive text messages in Korean? If so, can you share how this can be done?
Recipients are reporting that the messages are broken/scrambled.
I'm currently using the Korean IME app from the G.Play...
Thanks for the the help in advance!
self bump
i dont know if this helps (hope it does) but from a quick google search it looks like handcent supports korean languages with an addon pack. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.lang.nextsms.ko&hl=en
also it looks like you may need to add some korean fonts to your /system/fonts directory. that and see if your carrier supports unicode. a google search should be your best friend on accomplishing this. hopefully you get this sorted out, it has to be frustrating.
i tried that, and the handcent app does not show up in the drawer.
It shows up in settings>apps but not anywhere else
