Hi!! I update to 4.4 official fro 4.1 rooted and unlocked bootloader via mobile tool. After that my photos, music, downloads e.t.c is nowhere! I still have my apps, too. I installed again cwm and from there i saw that there is one partition with current system and one partition where my photos, music e.t.c exist...Is there any way to get rid of second partition and move my files to the new system partition?
Your files are in root folder/data/media just download a file manager that supports rooted divices like root explorer give superuser rights and paste all your data to storage file

Am wondering if there is a application or something that gives me access to /data while the phone is booted into the OS.
I know i can mount /data from recovery and remove/add files and stuff from there, but am wondering if this is possible to do while the phone is booted into the OS?

You need to flash the modified Hboot by AlphaRev to provide you with S-OFF (Securiy Off) for NAND unlock and to provide you with full root access, while the phone is powered on (booted into the OS). Search the Desire Android Development section of the forum.
Okay, let's say i do this, how do i access /data when am booted into the OS then?
Depending on what you want to do, you can use a File Explorer app to make modifications while the OS is running, and use apps like MetaMorph that require full system privileges to make r/w changes to the system partition, for example.
EDIT: Here is the thread I was referring to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794314
Well i've tried out s-off, and it looks like i can see the content on the /system folder with Astro, but the Data folder is empty, but i know there should be an bootanimation.zip file there, as i've seen it while the /data was mounted in recovery.
Maybe i need another file explorer than Astro? Or?

What to do is, download EStrong File Explorer from the Marketplace. Once installed, open EStrong File Explorer and select the Menu button, then choose 'Settings'. Scroll down to 'Root Options' and select it. In Root Options, enable Root Explorer and choose the relevant option. Also choose the 'Mount File System' option as the /system partition was in read-only mode before and the files were hidden. Now, when you go to /data/local (i think), here you will find the location of the bootanimation.zip
Didn't work, looks like i have to have a CM rom or HiAPK rom. Any other idea?
And thanks for the help so far =)
Edit: There is an app in the market that's called "Root Explorer" that says it should give me access to the "elusive /data" folder, maybe that will work?
You don't need to be s-off to access /data. Or at least I didn't have to be.
Try putting bootanimation.zip in /data/local anyway and see if it works.
This overrides the existing bootanimation that is stored elsewhere.

Trying out a different rom, and bought Root Explorer and now am able to see the content in the /data folder at least.
Sorry if this has been answered before but I couldn't see anything when I searched.
Is it possible to create a backup of the boot.img and system.img without rooting or unlocking the bootloader?
The phone is a One X Tegra 3
I have a slightly dead phone and access to a new one x but I cant do anything like unlocking the bootloader on the new one as it isnt mine.
Thanks in advance

root needed so no , dont know if fastboot has a option to dump but guesing no already
You can.backup all your system files, but would need root to copy it to another phone. But why the system partition? That is the same for all one x on the same software. Use any backup app to backup apps and stuff, And to backup app data, copy everything from /data/data into any folder on ur sdcard. Then you can copy this on a rooted one x and get ur game data back use ES file explorer. And in settings, check 'up to root', that will give you access to the data partition, hope this helps

You can copy entire system partition to your sd card without any root. Just use root explorer (you don't need root to run it) and copy content of /system folder (app, bin, customize, framework, etc.) into your sd card.
what's with using diskdump...?
copying to sdcard kills owners/groups; dd will take care of them. or use zip / tar function in root explorer.

You put all symlinks and permissions in updater-script if he is using Windows then symlinks and owners/groups will be gone anyway.
But I agree that dd is much better solution
You can use "adb pull system"
Could someone tell me the way that i can have full access to modify folders and stuff other than those in the SD card folder??
Sometimes I can, but usually, i cant paste file and add folders inside there (like the system, sys, root folder)
My phone is correctly rooted and have the bootloader unlocked
how can get be enabled to get there??
using ES file manager and Super manager and they sometimes dont work
and i hope i can get the full and free access there??
I also hope there's a PC software that can do this part
plz help me guys
thx!!
note
firstly i am quite sure that ES explorer doesnt support root, however i do know that there is A VERY reliable app called xplore
you can enable root access in the settings and also the app has never failed on my when making/editing/deleting folders in my /root directory

This happened, because xbin is the folder is where the su binaries are installed.
If you delete that folder you automatically lose access to root.
I understand. But how to restore xbin folder.....:crying:

Ateekujjawal is right, the root permission files are stored in xbin folder along with other system files.
I can think of two options to restore it:
1. open the flashable zip of the ROM you are on, extract the xbin folder. then use aroma file manager through your recovery to paste the xbin folder in /system. And then flash the UPDATESuperSU.zip to restore root access.
2. Backup your data, and re-flash your ROM
Thanks a lot. Ist working for me . Now I have supper users permission again.

Hey guys, i like to root my new iNew U3 with android 5.1
So i used several programs like Kingroot, oneclickroot aso. but no apk works.
May the device is simple not to root atm?
Thanks Brook
I have tested all available root apps, no success.
I have Readbacked boot, recovery and system images, boot and recovery have special format, not possible to unpack and repack by available tools, mainly repack is problem. System is native EXT4 mountable under linux, injected by supersu files and modifications, but because of SELinux files are not available to exec under running android. I am not able to set right files contexts under Ubuntu.
I will let you know if find solution.
Hi guys, I bought this phone ( Inew U3 ) on Ebay .
The phone is not so bed!! But I can't move any app on the microSD !!!!!!
In any case app can move on SD, It is that the main memory is set to the phone, whether the main memory is set to SD !!!!!
Even with third-party app, type Link2SD you can move apps to the SD, are always on the phone memory !!!
Also you can not do root in any way !!
Solutions?
OK, found way how to root this phone.
Method is "simple":
First OTA update to version iNew_U3_5.1_V1.1.0, not sure if root survive OTA. Do factory reset.
Use SP Flash Tool to backup system.img,
mount is under linux to /system folder as ext4, it is pure ext4.
Unpack latest UPDATE-Supersu package.
Open file update-binary file as text, do all as in instructions.
Umount /system folder after finished.
Flash system.img back to phone.
If not shown reinstall SuperSU app from Playstore.
I will share modified system.img with scatter on needrom later tomorrow.
EDIT: Dwnload link: http://www.needrom.com/download/inew-u3-prerooted-system-img/#
I tried it, but it didnt work.
Everytime i extract the Zip i get a failure, that the file is corrupt?
Is there any other way?
