[Q] Speed - Depends on Kernel ?

Sounds absolutely NoobLIKE , but I'd like to understand :
Does the Speed of ROM depends on Kernel ?
If so , which Kernel is fastest one ? (now im using Coutts , and IM pretty satisfied)
Thankss
yes, a different kernel can affect performance and it will also affect your maximum overclock, process scheduler (bfs or cfs), etc.
coutts kernel is a g00d option.

[Q] Autonomy - what is the best kernel for InsertCoin??

Hello,
I see almost every day we have new kernels for GB, I use the InsertCoin ROM and would like to know what is the best kernel in terms of autonomy.
It is also important for me stability ROM after installing the kernel!
Thanks in advance

Can I use stock GB Rom and Doom Kernel?

Hi guys! I just bought an Arc S, and it's totally awesome. BUT, even if I like the design of the stock ROM, it really can be improved. I always have around 60 mb of free RAM, and you can imagine the result
May I use doom kernel ( or any other kernel ) without flashing a new rom? Would I have improvements? Do I get more free ram?
Thanks in advance, I'm trying to learn everything I can about modding this phone, I had a Motorola and I spent the last months tweaking it, now it's time to start all over
If you've unlocked the bootloader, yes. Any kernel thread OP will advise what version of android the kernel will support, or if it's specifically for a certain rom(i.e. MIUI/CyanogenMod roms). Generally, custom kernels improve performance and add features not available in the stock rom such as call recording, various schedulers, overclocking and so on. Battery life tends to be better with the stock kernels though.
thanks! and specifically, if I want to stay ( for now ) with stock rom 2.3.4 which kernel would you suggest me to try? i'd like one with smartassv2 governor, i heard it's pretty good
Doomkernel is your best bet there, tbh.

[Q] lupus v10 with stock 587 rom

Hi
I have a question for what I did not find a straightforward answer;
Some back story: I have an Xperia Arc S with stock .587 rom, I wanted to unlock it so I payed on a site to unlock it with point test {if this is the correct way to say it}, the simlock was removed 'yaay' and they also unlocked the bootloader. so a few days back I wanted to play around with kernels and roms, tried lupus with xperia hd 3.0.2, I didn't like it, don't ask why, and I wanted to return to stock, I messed up, soft bricked the phone...long story short, today I resolved the problem and I managed to install the stock rom again.
TL;DR; Can you use the Arc S stock rom with Lupus v10 kernel ? and does anybody have any experience with it ? worth ?
Thank you
If you have any other kernel suggestion that would come in handy too :fingers-crossed:
Greetings from Hungary.

As an old Arc S user, I'll tell from my own experiences..
Using Lupus or any custom made kernels that are made with the purpose to give you overclock options and alternative CPU Governors on stock & non-rooted ROM.. It isn't worth it, because you will not see any difference in performance.
Tweak and debloat .587 ROM in case you are going to use Lupus kernel, I am saying.

Sound interesting, I mean I don't really care about performance, that much, the only thing that I noticed with Lupus kernel {or I guess whatever kernel} is the battery life increase.
I'm still thinking and searching the forum to find a good answer, I have no problem with the stock kernel + rom, but if a custom kernel would give the same performance + better battery life that would definitely help
ps I have no idea how to tweak and debloat[ i don't even know what that is] :silly:

Well, battery life can increase if you are using the right CPU governor and I/O Schelduer (spelling?).
But the increase in your prefered option (BATTERY LIFE) isn't that big on an extended functionality custom kernel, I think, on stock & bloatwared ROM. It can be even worse.. Some battery tweaks in build.prop and some init.d power saving tweaks / scripts can help perhaps.
Best is to try it yourself! Be aware of partial wakelocks, Sony got some bad behaviour with applications that wakes up your Arc S..

[Q] UV kernel for CM11

Dear developers,
Read some tutorials I managed to install CM11 on my XMD. How about add UV on CM Ernesto, to save a little more battery.
On stock 4.2.2 with Noecore kernel the battery time is better than stock kernel. (UV applied manually by trisckerMod)
Please consider that.
Sorry for my poor English.
Thanks
