Hi,
This might be in the wrong place, I have just installed the ViperOne M8 mod and all is working fine. I've restored my phone so that all my old apps are on there, except the HTC Dot View app has disappeared.
I am getting notifications through my Dot View case, but I have no way of accessing themes. Google Play says that I have the app installed, but I can't find it anywhere. Can someone help?!
Thanks, and what a great forum. *Newbie!*

sorry i just didn't complete reading
No problem, yes clicking on that tells me that the app is installed, but i can't see it among my apps. Like i say, i've set it up in Viper so that extra notifications work but I can't see how I can get the themes to display without the App appearing on my phone...
I had to use titanium backup to remove the dot view app and then install it from the play store.

I have tried deleting com.htcstreamplayer.apk from /system/app but the icon in question is still there. I searched on the internet and found a thread talking about the icon is part of htcmusic.apk, so I deleted that too and it is still there.
The persistence of such icons makes me want to free my app drawer of it more badly! So if you can show me how to do it, I am much obliged!
Hello !
I have "upped" the topic because I have the exact same question.
I have rooted my device and was able to delete HTCMusic.apk and a lot more, but I am unable to find which .apk file or which application is launched when the "Videos" icon is pressed.
I would like to froze the application related to that icon. I know it's possible because I've done that for the "Miror" icon (which is in fact a component of the Camera application) in order to make it disappear from the drawer.
Can you help us please ?
Thanks in advance. (Sorry for my English, I'm French).
The solution
Hi all,
I'm sorry to double-post but I've found a solution for those who are still interested (I have an HTC ChaCha, but I believe it also works for Desire HD).
You must download an app remover from the Google Play Store, which includes a feature called "Freeze", and which is able to disable application components.
For example I have paid for ROM ToolBox Pro (it includes the Advanced Freeze feature).
The component used by Video icon is in fact packed into the "Gallery" application : .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos, you can disable it safely.
After .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos is disabled, the Videos icon disappears from the drawer.
Just upgraded to a new sprint gs3. Went to add facebook to accounts and checked the play store first, it says facebook is installed. Cool, but I'm not sure if that came from Sprint or from the automatic app download that happens when you add an existing account. Any way, all is cool, except the fact that facebook doesn't show up in the list of apps so I can put a shortcut on a home screen.
Has anyone else seen this? Am I missing something? In the store, there's an option to uninstall, so I guess I could uninstall/reinstall, but I'd kind of like to understand what's going on before doing that.
Any ideas?
Problem solved. I was expecting the apps to be in alphabetical order in the app drawer and they aren't (facebook was on the last page). Sorry for the silly question.
When in the app drawer hit the menu button / view type then select alphabetical order

thanks - I remembered that about a half second after I realized the drawer wasn't in alphabetical order. Appreciate you going to the trouble to post the screen shot though!
Hi guys,
I just got my g3 and something really strange happened.
I had the google folder on my homescreen and then deleted it, when i go into my apps i can't see the apps that were in that google folder.
I have to goto the playstore and open gmail from there. Is there any way i can get my icons back from the folder i deleted?
Just before anyone mentions, my apps aren't hidden. They're just gone
Those are just doors to your apps, you deleted the doors.
Just long press on your screen and a dialog will Pop up, go to apps and browse to the one you want, touch it and it should go to your screen.
Yup i know about that also...
I like to have a clean desktop...therefore i use the apps key all the time and access my apps from there.
Is there another way of getting my icons back to where all my other apps are?

The WhatsApp version in the Amazon App Store is much too old. So I've installed the newest WhatsApp .apk by myself by using the APK Downloader.
But now the app icon isn't between all the others apps. It's not there.
Double tap on the home buttons shows me that WhatsApp is running. Also it's in the carousel. But not in the list of all the other apps.
I had this once as I've did it in the same way with the Facebook app. But after a second installation of the .apk the icon showed up. But not this time
Can anybody help me please?
Same here..it appears on other launchers but theres no number near the icon for unread messages..also on the amazon app store whatsapp it told to update within 30 days..huh

If you delete the app from your Amazon cloud apps and re-install WhatsApp from Google Play, the app's icon should also be installed.
Thanks..it worked but the number if messages that appear near the icon arent there still
Hey everyone, I was trying to put google keep widget on my homescreen but its not working. Everytime I go into widgets and press on google keep, it asks me which notes to show, I select all notes and then it takes me back to the homescreen and no widget is there.
Is it a google keep app issue? All other widgets work fine except for BBC news app (same issue as described above). Also google keep widget is currently working fine on my m8.
Anyone can replicate that? Any thoughts? I got the latest OTA btw.

It's working fine here. Try an uninstall or data wipe...
Managed to make it work. Weirdly it had something to do with animation settings under developer menu.
