I have a net gear PTV3000 with the latest update. My tablet is rooted with the SkyHigh kernel. I am trying to mirror to the PTV, but it closes the connection and says they are unable to connect due to a hardware issue. How do I fix this?!
I have read of a user reporting same issue in the T700 root thread. Probably root related, but I've never tried it anytime either stock or custom.

I read online that once you root your device you can not use the ptv. so it is because you are rooted you are not able to mirror.

That's pretty apparent, but what can be done about this? We are all pretty smart folks here at xda, any ideas? Anybody willing to tackle this issue.?

The issue has been around for a very long time, including the very popular Note 3 having plenty of development but issue still there. Unlikely to be solved unless by chance. .

Its seems to only happen if your using a non-stock recovery.
Flashing to stock recovery should resolve the issue according to other user's feedback
Hi,
I am having same problems. Running stock rooted ROM with stock recovery.
Anybody found solution?
EDIT:
I tried to find and replace patched library in /system/lib and there is no such library on SM-T700 device :-/
EDIT2:
I found a solution!!!
1) run Terminal Emulator and type:
Code:
su -c setprop wlan.wfd.hdcp disable
(will work immediately; won't stick between reboots!), OR...
2) edit /system/build.prop file with any root file manager/text editor and add a line (no matter where):
Code:
Code:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
(will work only after reboot; will stick between reboots).
source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54516532&postcount=16
Works on Galaxy Tab S 8.4 but it's little bit laggy (compared to Miracast on BB Q10).
reinstall stock recovery
SM-T705, cf-autoroot, TWRP
After restoring (with Flashify or ADB/dd Methode) stock recovery (still rooted, but of course loosing TWRP) screen mirroring works for me. I even restored TWRP and it still works.
In Odin Mode (Power & Vol- & Home) I see now:
Samsung Official
Custom
Knox 1
But when you boot into TWRP recovery you will loose it again, as status goes to
Custom
Custom
Knox 1

I installed Miracast app, in the app you find "wifi connection", activat it, so click now in tablet preferences on "screen mirroring", and now it goes.. without Miracast app active, not. Fortunately my lg smart tv has Miracast in the options, I am not sure it can get on with tv without Miracast.

Hi everyone,
I have samsung galaxy tab pro 10.1 wifi version and I'm on stock (rooted).
When I put tablet in lockscreen, it reboots very often.
It's driving me crazy :S
I tried to disable knox and all Samsung apps, but nothing changed.
I don't have /proc/last_kmsg (don't know why) , so I was able to only do in terminal a logcat (see attached).
(if someone how to make system to log on that file, please tell me
My idea is to flash a custom kernel, but before doing that, I wanna wait if someone has another idea.
It's not only my problem because I saw my two other friends with same device and same problem.
Please help us.
EDIT: I didn't notice the upload size error of the log file, so here is it: LOGCAT -> dropbox.com/s/cm45egosrvng9ql/lggm.txt?dl=0
I don't know if info in the file can be useful to the issue, but I had logcat logging before its last reboot.

Installed xposed framework and Samsung Kitkat SystemServer Crash Fix module and no random reboot after so far.
Seems to be solving.
Thanks to bortrenamo.
Glad i found this thread. My Tab Pro will reboot sometimes when I put it to sleep. Think this is software related? I flashed a custom ROM on my Note 2 and lost warranty. I would like to hear how your experiment goes.

Update, tried letting device go to sleep on itsown vs. manually putting it to sleep with the power button. The random reboots seem to occur when manually putting it to sleep, so far. I'll update my post if this changes.

I am running stock ROM until the warranty expires. This problem is driving me crazy. People have had this issue since July is what I've read. Unacceptable.
Also, these pop up ads are driving me crazy! I read they are Knox related?
Is there any way to install this framework on a stock ROM with out throwing the Knox counter? I heard the framework takes care of the reboots AND the ads. Please help mate!

As long as your device is rooted you can install xposed.
If you did not trigger knox counter when you root your device (ie. towelroot) xposed won't trigger your knox counter.
It wont even set your device status to "custom"
Just be careful in rooting, using cf-root will trigger your knox counter. Use towel root instead. You may flash a rootable kernel use towelroot and flash your original kernel back.

Thanks, I will try this module... Does anyone how it can fix this problem?
Hello,
I was wondering, I rooted my GS6 Edge and it is not letting me screen mirror. It says Unable to screen mirror due to a hardware issue. I then unrooted and tried it again, it mirrored no problems. Why would root cause my screen mirror ability not work?

I used the chainfire smg920t file to root using odin3 v3.10.6, I am not sure if the smg925t still bricks the phone or not. Not sure if it matters or not.
I can screen mirror after root.
Nope...not working for me either after root. Coincidentally, I had the same issue with my Galaxy Tab S 10.5.
This is a known issue with Samsung devices after root. Please try the steps in this video. I got it working after that.

Worked on Samsung S7 edge, smart view fails to connect after root, this method solve the issue.
Many thanks!
Latest TWRP is the cause of screen mirror break. If you Odin ROM and root using UniKernel through Odin, everything will work.
For me, the working combination (Gear VR and screen mirror working) is as follows:
TWRP wipe caches, data, internal, system
Odin>
DOJC (latest stock rom before mm. Untested with mm)
reboot
install gear vr (optional)
Odin>
S6_UniKernel_v8-0002-ODIN
reboot
Odin>
uncheck reboot first then
TWRP 2.8.7.1 (3.0.2 breaks screen mirroring)
reboot into recovery do not install SU from TWRP
flash OZOP_ROMless_v2 to debloat (optional)
profit

hi,
i do have that on my S7 edge but it still isn't working...
May i ask if yours is still working, what rom you're using and what version of TWRP (i read this might cause issues)?
Thanks
I have this Screen View Mirroring problem too....
First some info about my phone, and how I rooted it,
then the question follows below that...
PHONE INFO:
I have a "Samsung Galaxy S7 Exynos (SM-G930F) "
I have NOT updated the phones software (OTA/ODIN)
Android Version 6.0.1
Baseband Version: G930FXXU1BPJG
BuildNumber: MMB29K.G930FXXU1BPJG
(Android Security Patch Level: 01.NOV.2016)
I have rooted it using "ODIN" with "Samsung USB Drivers"
and "Download Mode" to flash the phone with ROOT...
Flashed it with this file "CF-Auto-Root-herolte-heroltexx-smg930f.zip" (Contains ChainFire Root + TWRP)
Seems to be "TWRP-3.0.2.4-herolte.img" thats installed on my phone now... This could probably (maybe) be changed with the use of the app "TWRP Manager", if needed, to another version of TWRP...
Then I restarted the phone, and booted into recovery (TWRP)
did select WIPE + FORMAT DATA in TWRP.
Then I installed the XPOSED FRAMEWORK using TWRP.
I installed "xposed-v86.0-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160709.zip"
All of this works! I get ROOT and I get TWRP, and XPOSED with different modules to work... So far so great...
THE QUESTION:
Then there was the Screen Mirroring part (Smart View/QuickConnect)
This is NOT working at all on my phone, after rooting the phone...
I did the EDIT of the "/SYSTEM/build.prop" file, as suggested above, and added the "wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable" line to the end of that file. Saved "build.prop" and rebooted.
This made my "GRUNDIG TV" (not a samsung tv) connect to the phone, asking for the PIN, and upon entering the PIN, a black screen opened on the middle of the tv screen (where content from the phone would normally be) and only a mouse pointer is visible in the black middle part of the screen (the content space).
I then later tested the same phone (with no new changes) at a friends house, connected it to a 55inch Samsung with a curved display, and there it worked as expected...
Both sound and image was transferred... But at home, only a "black box w/mouse pointer" in the middle of the screen - no image transferred...
PS: WHILE HAVING THAT EDITED LINE AT THE END OF THE "build.prop" FILE...
I also noticed that some pages could not be opened in FIREFOX while having this edited line at the bottom of the "build.prop", and apps like SureSpot and Wickr could not be logged into...
It is as if the mobile networking on my phone was partly working, and partly not....
So I edited the line away, using a #hashta, aka: commented it away, then saved it, and restarted the phone, and could now immediately log into SureSpot/Wickr and open the pages in FireFox that could not be opened before.... (with the line of code active in "build.prop")
So my question is... How can I make this work with my GrundigTV ???
I need ROOT for other fine-grained control of apps and the android system, and I need XPOSED too, to get that fine control...
So my question is:
How can I maintain ROOT and XPOSED (using the method explained above, to root the phone)
and still change around "something" to make Screen Mirroring (Smart View) work with any TV? And not having that fix, create strange problems with app connectivity.....?
PS: I've also updated "QuickConnect" to the version
(v 4.1.8980705.0)
using "Samsung Apps" to update it... As it seems to have something to do with this...
I'm having the exact same problem, any success?
The same problem on A3 2017 (SM-A320F) using CMW Recovery and latest SuperSU zip to root. I will try some suggestions above to see if I can fix this.

Use a file browser such as Root Browser and go to the root of your device then locate the "System" folder and find build.prop and edit it with any application that can edit it and find the bottom line, right at the edge of the bottom line you need to press enter twice and then paste this:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
And then save it and reboot your device.
Just as the title dictates. I am trying to walk a friend through installing google play on his rooted fire tv, I emailed him all the necessary files and he installed via es file explorer which apprently did not work as it just gives him a white screen. Is this only able to function if it is installed via adb?
Did you guide him through the xposed framework installation as well?
Yes
danknasty, maybe have your friend read the guide. Why would you not use Adb? and you have to install the xposed framework along with the module for google play to function. And to top it off to make it work perfectly fine, you need to use market helper 2.0 beta.

Yea it's an older person so i was trying to make it as "friendly" as possible. I have recently installed it via es file explorer myself jsut to test and it seems to work fine so ill have him give it go.

You mentioned Rooted. i have a solution for you. Get him to install quicksupport and start it up. Then use teamviewer on your home pc and connect to it using the number quick support generates. Note: the first time the person will have to accept access to root privs. From that point on you'll have full control of his firetv from your PC. I do that all the time for my parents who live remotely.
I also connect to their PC so I have their PC and their firetv and can do adb install or what ever I need. Hope it helps.

Yeah,. and if he is rooted and has google play which he dosen't as thats what you are trying to install. Then you could install it for him automatically through google any app he needs. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
One other thing to note is that if he gets the prompt for root grant, you know there is a timer of 15 seconds and he has to accept it in that time. I know i have a hard time explaining that too to my parents.
Thanks I think I lucked out and they hit the permanent root grant option on the unit.

Is there a permanent root option with the newer firmwares? I didn't know. At least not with supersu. The permanent option used to exist in the older rooted firmwares. The new ones' have to select grant everytime root is requested.

If you select the permanent option when you first root I believe it transfers over. When you update it. That was my understanding correct me if I'm wrong.

I've done so many roots and have never seen that option. The older firmwares with towelroot had it that way. but when you upgrade from those rooted versions to the new one, you have to constantly grant.
Are you talking about units you've hardware rooted? I just did one not so long ago and in the supersu program there is a choice that says grant always. After upgrade to the latest firmware it still remains.

Yes it's rooted.
*EDIT*
12/21/15
I should have the flashfire img put together today with instruction on how to flash it.
OP Updated for flashfire & guide
Has anyone tried this?

I have. So far its great! I installed flash fire style. Everything went fine. Only thing now is in trying to get advanced calling to work again. I already had it enabled. I did what OP suggested but nothing is working. Other than that its nice to have smart settings!

Did you download myverizon app and then activate hd calling before deleting out of /data/app?
I'll look into this issue in the morning.
All is working fine except hd calling want activate. Downloaded my verizon app and then went to settings avanced calling to activate but get the process.com.Android.settings has stopped. I've done everything from wipe settings and apps to flashing again and nothing helps. Any suggestions?

Just saw your post. Same problem here with hd calling
I'll have a look at the settings.apk does anyone have the stock LGSettings.apk with odex files. I'd have to flash back to stock at this point.

I don't but I've got the stock kdz ready to flash. I'll pull it and send to you then once we get it figured out I'll reflash your Rom .
One thing I've noticed is my hd calling says click here to turn it off although I've verified through 4g Data not working on calls and the hd notification not showing up on calls to my wife that it definatley is not working. I also know that it for sure worked on stock so it's something that's causing settings to stop. Soon as I get flashed to stock I'll upload settings.apk
See the errors now, I'll have it fix soon.

Ok after 2 hours of messing with adb saying my device is offline I give up...adb worked fine but this is the first time using it with Windows 10 so I'm guessing it's got drivers messed up which is causing it to not issue a device authorization attempt which means I can't use adb right now.....
I'll patiently wait for your fix. Thank you for the help
Sometimes I have the same issue with Windows, not sure of the exact problem. But restarting Windows and phone while usb is disconnected ussally fixes the issue for no apparent reason.

I want to know after flashing this img my non Verizon CDMA carrier's 3G settings are gone, and I can't connect anymore through 3G.
It needs 3G settings reprogramming , what could caused this issue ?
Knowing that I flashed 13b KDZ on top of 10B and then flashed another 13B rooted img and nothing like that happened...

Any chance of working VVM? Just wondering because even installing it won't connect to the service.

Unfortunately I am not a Verizon user, I do use my phone on a Yemeni CDMA carrier called "Yemen Mobile" which it doesn't has any features like HD calling, only 3G network (EV-DO) [emoji3] .
Please tell me what to take a screenshot for and I will be happy to take it.
Thanks

Working great so far. Everything works as of now , including HD calling (Note#1 in thread post#2 worked for me). Great job and thanks again!
Here we are folks latest fireos release for the HD10(Suez) (actual 5.6.4.0) MAY 2019
Deodexed
Removed Kindle special offers aka lock screen ad's
pre-rooted with Magisk 19.1
Disabled OTA
Busybox
changelog V2 5/16/19
fix some wonky dhcp related permissions because amazon doesn't know what the fk they are doing
recommend you guys update asap to avoid wonky wifi
/System increased to 1.6GB to accommodate Gapps
there should be no issue upgrading from previous versions but I have not extensively tested that so if you encounter issues do a factory reset
*Gapps Please do not use hacky tools like fire toolbox. Instead, Install Gapps via TWRP as it is the 'right' way to install Gapps (something reinvent wheel.... )
https://opengapps.org/ 5.1 ARM nano package has been tested and confirmed working **
*it may crash once or twice during account setup but it works just fine once you get logged in
please note that play store version of Amazon apps are NOT Compatible with fireOS exercise caution when allowing apps to update it is highly
recommended you turn auto update OFF, or flash a market detatch script failure todo so will result in you losing amazon stock apps!
if you encounter issues with flashing/updating magisk or do not want root flash the stockboot zip there seems to be a wee bit of jank when flashing over an unclean boot image (an example is if you are updating and already have magisk installed)
the same warning as other stock roms apply do not update magisk from magisk manager use TWRP, flashing modules should be fine

Tested this and It's working !
Just a correction your GAPPS link is to an ARM64 package that is not compatible with this tablet. Thankfully the ARM ones work just fine. Thanks for making this great ROM! Running great on my Fire 10 right now!

this is what I get for uploading at 3am
should be fixed momentarily
edit: link corrected
Just curious, what's the benefit of flashing GAPPS vs other install methods?
Also what's the benefit of having them as system apps? Thanks.

because play services are meant to be installed as a /system app
it will also survive a factory reset
sideloading the apk's can also lead to weird bugs

that was _fixed_ in like 5.6.3 ?

but even this still doesn't like my deco mesh wifi I need to static it to get it through setup and it still randomly disconnects sigh ...
I guess it better look into seeing why its doing that
edit fixed rom updated

you can also just chmod 755 the configs
i may experiment with replacing the dhcp binaries with ones built from source at a later date

I'll have to make a test build and seeif that's what the case was. If so I could kick myself repeatedly. I have a 64 bit build built for this thing, built from AOSP. I have yet to test it. But if you need any of the bins for it, I have them.
deleted see next post for fix to all wifi problems
attached is example updater script
ok so mystery solved once again permission errors
****ing A amazon get it right

I don't have a firmware available to test this and I'm at work for several more hours. So if someone can test this out that is or was on my firmware that would be awesome.

I think it's time we checked the permissions in other files this might be worth a shot at fixing the rest of the problems these things have with Wi-Fi.
Edit: has anyone uninstalled the wifi locker app yet? The only thing it has permissions to do is upload and store credentials or something to that nature but I don't think it has anything to do with storing Android credentials.

you can confirm its the issue with
logcat | grep dhcp
and
locat | grep wifi
look for the permission errors
some of these daemons are executed under a different group which leads to issues
this occurs even on a virgin untouched tablet
I should have posted this a long time ago I have known about it for a year just have not had time lol

I don't doubt you for a second because I figured the Wi-Fi log levels script was causing the issues and though it didn't fix it it seems to have stopped a lot of the reconnect disconnect issues the things seem to have with jumping back and forth to different Wi-Fi networks so I deleted it, at least on other builds but none that I put out to you guys. So it does make a lot of sense however I still kick myself in the ass for not checking permissions first.

the major problem was the dhcp hooks without that dhcp does not work properly
it also for whatever reason needs to be 555 775/660 will not do it don't ask me why I tried it both ways it only works 0 2000 0555
I blame amazon
rom updated op updated
amazon made aware of the problem hopefully will get fixed so you don't need to root your device to have wifi that works

It would make sense if they wanted to throw off whoever could successfully pull off deodexing. It wasn't easy pre twrp. I had to do it piece by piece, and only some of the manually replaced ones worked. But you are right I've never seen those files with 555 before.

Lol. Do you seriously think some engineer at Amazon (or whomever they contract with) is charged with scheming up bizarre ways to throw off the miniscule community of deodexers? Too much daytime TV.
