Hello, I just bought this today locally and couldn't find the FM radio app. Does anyone know if this phone has FM radio? according to lots of sites, the specs state that it does, so I'm kinda bummed. I got the AT&T version by the way, which is E980
thanks!

In LG G3 vs SGS5 comparison/review GSMArena stresses FM radio as "G3 over S5" but only for the Euro version.
(I have watched many YouTube videos for G3 that are found there at the moment, all Korean model, none of them was Euro or so called international model, and have not seen a FM Radio app icon on those reviewed devices). Dunno if it was the case in G2 too, but G2 has FM radio, at least in Euro version.

Defiantly not on my G3 F400L (Korean model) I understand why, the korean model has TV one better.

FM Radio is the reason I'm buying a G3, its confirmed on the specs for the French G3, I would have got a note 3 but they took the radio off it, so well done LG in keeping it!
Can someone send the fm apk to me?

If you try it out, could you let us all know how it goes? I am interested in buying either the T-Mobile or AT&T version and am curious to see how this works.
Sprint version has fm radio
Seems the T-Mobile G3 does not have FM radio. The app above launches but all these notifications pop up saying "Mock" in front of them when you try to do anything. Get no audio and the scanning clearly isn't actually scanning FM. Possibly locked and requires root but certainly not working or existing without.

I have the D852 and there is no FM radio.
Installing the APK gives Mock:xxxx messages.
Probably the FM radio is disabled.
I also wanted to have the FM working.
Maybe if rooted there might be a way to reactivate it, but for the moment there is no way.
Anyone know a way to get FM working ?
Thanks.

No, it's probably the same story as with the G2:
International (D802 for G2, D855 for G3) has usable FM, as does Sprint (LS980 for G2).
Everything else does not support FM, and FM is physically and unfixably disabled (at least on G2 proven so far).
So, No FM includes Korea, Canada, US variants for ATT, VZN and T-Mobile (but not Sprint, who gets a ransom from US FM stations). Also tends to include any LTE variants (Can't have Americans using "foreign" phones with LTE+FM).
In the G2, there is actually a rare case of a special chip that is missing, that switches between FM and BT ports. But even without that, disabled models have FM antenna pins on FM/combo chips tied unfixably to ground to disable in hardware.
G3 uses Qualcomm FM + Qualcomm audio, so the only hardware disablement known is grounding the antenna pin.
Anyway... If rooted, try this June 18 test release of Spirit2: http://d-h.st/rYw or July 31 here: http://d-h.st/afc
Rooted or not, try Spirit1: http://d-h.st/rbk

When I was using this app, I got a bunch of static, but it was picking up the channels I normally get?
Sent from my AT&T LG G3
For any Turkish users, our hardware version is actually D855tr which does not have FM radio. This is supposedly due to the high cost of TRT (state broadcasting company) fees. Only if you get your phone through an alternate channel (paralel ithalat) will you get a G3 with FM radio.
By the way, installing the apk from another phone does not work. The hardware is reportedly not there.
As many of you know, Verizon disables the FM radio chip in the phones they offer that have them. I read elsewhere that they removed or changed the FM Hardware API in the Roms on their devices, blocking use of the chip. I believe it was in the HTC M8 forum that I read some people have been able to regain access to the chip by replacing the API with a functional one. I am unsure of all the details, but I wonder if it would be possible to take the API from, say, the Sprint variant and put it into the Verizon variant? I heard custom Roms are also able to restore the chip's functionality... Is there any way someone could confirm this?
I'm looking at an HTC One M9 (Verizon) for a host for LineageOS and before buying I'd like to get to the bottom of whether it has FM radio or not. Verizon's specs make no mention of an FM radio but I haven't been able to find anything stating Verizon 'deleted' the FM radio from the 'regular' M9. And I do know at least one case where Verizon deleted the radio from a 'regular' spec phone because I have one (Samsung Galaxy Core Prime S820L). So I'm wondering if anyone knows whether Verizon deleted the radio hardware or if the Verizon-specific ROM just doesn't have a radio control interface. IOW, will it have a functioning FM radio if I put LineageOS on it?
The answer is: Yes. I flashed the phone to LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) an the FM radio is indeed working.
Do we know if US variant has or not builtin FM Radio tuner ?
It would appear that it doesn't or that it's disabled by default.

I think this has been the case for the last few years
since the thunder bolt, ancient times that was, never on verizon network
Fm Still lives
US FCC requires it for use in Emergencies. Samsung was threatened with a Lawsuit on that one. It is in the S20. You need an adapter for the USB-c port to headphone jack and plug in a headphone cable (antenna) THEN try to find it. It works on a ATT reseller phone.
Has any developer been able to find the FM radio "on/off" switch on any ROM they worked with? NextRadio seems to be the only app that can see if the radio is enabled. I have the unlocked no carrier version of the S20 Ultra. I won't be seeing any unlocked FM radio any time soon. I've had luck with my T Mobile S7 Edge FM radio. If T Mobile were to unlock the S20 FM radio, would flashing a T mobile Rom fix me up with a working FM radio?
