SD Card Not Mounting - T-Mobile LG G3

64GB Gskill SDXC card which is brand new doesn't mount in my G3...while it mounts in my S5 no problem. Another SD card i have doesn't mount in my G3 either.
BUT
If i use some disk partition apps, the card is recognized and I can reformat/delete/create, all that stuff. Bottom line is that it doesn't mount (option to mount is grayed out in settings).
Not sure what's going on, nothing is physically damaged but something is for sure going on.

If you changed the DPI by editing the build.prop, I and others have experienced the same problem.

You don't need to reflash, you can either change it back to 640 or use App Settings in Xposed and change com.android.systemui. That seems to work as expected as long as you don't go below 530. Check out the DPI thread in this forum.

Thanks, but no dice. I'm going to try a fresh install.
EDIT: Got it working, installed fresh ROM and didn't touch the DPI, going to lower DPI and see if I can cause the same problem.

Last night, I deleted a line from build.prop. I reboot the phone and no sd card all of sudden. TWRP recognized it, but not Android. Scratching my head, I spent some time troubleshooting. When comparing the edited file to a backup, I realized the Solid Explorer Text Editor was displaying a limited amount of characters or lines. When I saved the file after the edit, it excluded a bunch of lines from the bottom of the build.prop file. Obviously, some of those lines were related to the sd card.
I only mention this in case others run into the same issue.

Yea, thanks, changed DPI again and same issue happened...dirty flashed ROM and SD card showed back up. (changing DPI back doesn't bring SD card back)
Going to try and change DPI with xposed and see what happens.

[Q] How do you permanently disable froyo apps2sd?

I've tried to search all of XDA, but I could find anyone wanting to fully disable froyo's apps2sd.
I prefer to use DT a2sd on my ext3 partition. With using Ti backup and installing from the market, some apps get installed on the SD in the .android.secure folder. Its a pain for me to one-by-one move them off the SD and back onto the phone, so DT a2sd moves them to the ext3.
So, does anyone know how to disable froyo's apps2sd? I'm using a sense ROM if that matters.
Thanks!
Bump. Back to the top.
Anybody? I know there's some smart people in XDA that would know how to do this.

Looking for an answer to this as well.
There are apps to sd apps that let you move all apps on sd to internal memory, but I've never used one.
I know in cyanogenmod there's an option in settings to choose install location for apps (internal/external/automatic) but I'm not sure about your rom. If you're using stock I know it isn't there but otherwise you could check your settings.
Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.

That's the file I'm looking for. I've read in a Droid forum somewhere there's a . sh file that can be edited to have the same effect as cyanogen's option.
I'm on a sense based ROM, and I can't find that file.

I see it. I think someone had discussed a "<some name>.sh" file to edit that sounds like what the cyanogen setting does.
I opened the sh file you pointed to and it just came up with gibberish.

I don't have a direct solution for you, but this app might help ease the pain:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&feature=search_result
It's designed to help people go the other way around, but it groups apps into three tabs -- On Phone (movable), on the SD card, and phone only. You could use the "On SD Card" tab to help you find the apps that are on the SD card, and you can click on one to go right to the app page and move it back.
You'll want to turn off "Notifications" under settings, as that feature notifies you when apps can be moved the SD card, which isn't what you're wanting to do.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep this in my back pocket.
The reason I'm looking for this mod is to avoid having apps default to the SD card when I restore them from Ti backup or purchase them from the market. Some apps (like angry birds for example) will default to SD card when available.
I'm trying to trick the system into thinking the SD is not available for app installs.

You could try this, but backwards. At the very end it tells you how to set it to internal memory. I'm not sure if location 0 is internal or automatic. Since location 2 is external, location 1 might be internal. You could try both. Hope this helps.

Awesome! Now that's what I was looking for!
Not sure what "pm" command does, but it took. I set it to zero; now I need to find a way to test it. Just I'll have to disable Dark Tremors a2sd and verify. If someone has tested this, let me know if zero is the right setting to force only internal installation.
Here's the followup question: Where is "setInstallLocation" defined in the system (file)?
That way I can use root explorer to verify the setting and not just push a value with the terminal or adb.
Thanks again!

It depends.
1) Did you configure your camera to save them to the external fat32 (or exFAT) sdcard? Then it should be fairly easy to undelete most of them.
2) Or did you save them to your internal ext4 formatted sd (the default)? If yes, then you're mostly outta luck, UNLESS you were rooted, in which case you can make a disk image and then use a util on your PC like photorec (from testdisk) to recover them.
I actually have a similar but different question. I am running AOKP and end up flashing new versions often. I noticed that I lose my pictures each time and thought I was out of luck. But today I noticed in astronomy that all my pictures were actually in camera folder but the camera app does not see them. How can I make it so that they show up in the gallery?

Not sure, maybe you're dirty flashing and need to clear data for media?
Try using QuickPic gallery instead. It's all I use and it always picks up my internal&external DCIM directories.
(I move my photos to the external fat32 DCIM dir every once in a while in order to use QuickPic's "fix file date using exif date" function, which only works on fat32, but not ext4)

I saved them at the default (not sdcard). I don't think I rooted them because I don't even know what is rooted. I just brought the phone and started taking pictures.

I never dirty flash always complete wipe. Any other way to get the stock galaxy app to see all the pictures in the folder but just the ones that I take with the newest version?
I'm not really a fan of having multiple apps
Edit: okay just check out that app seems nice I can set it all to default but for example when I'm in the camera app and press the pictures to view them I do not go straight there. Any way to change that?

MTP is used now, not USB Mass Storage, so that won't work.
Since the internal SD is mounted as a fuse FS, none of the existing utilities work. I had thisbsame problem with my Xoom several months ago.

[Q] Invalid path of SD card

Im running Quantum V3, 4.4.1 KitKat on AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3. Last night I played around with phone, unmounted SD card cuz I needed to check my battery drainage. After I remounted it, ESfile explorer says that sdcard1 has "Invalid path". Even tho in settings > storage, it shows that there is sd card and how much space there's left on it...
I did a clean flash of the ROM before if that matters. I don't wanna reflash it and arrange all the apps all over again...
Also when I check the sd card through the app folders, aka in storage/sdcard1, it shows files and everything. What could be the issue that I cant get it to work?

Probably one of the bugs with the latest update by PwnCakes. Maybe you didn't unmount properly, or try formatting the sd card and plug it in again?
I have the same exact thing.
Sigh, at least I'm not alone xD
And I didn't try formatting, got 27 gig stuff on my SD card and unfortunately no space on HDD to copy all the stuff :/
Shame I ain't got enough posts to reply in PwnCakes thread...
I think it might actually be a bug within the rom itself OR ES file explorer. I had this bug since I think a few releases ago
I have the exact same problem. Under "device", i have two copies of extSDcard. I also get the "invalid path" when i tap on sdcard1. I guess i'll wait for a fix, as i don't want to uninstall ES File Explorer, and reinstall, just to lose everything.

Temporary ES File Explorer Workaround for SD Card and Ext SD Card
Sorry it took so long. Just got done finals and had to get the bus. Below is the settings that you guys can use to make it almost as if nothing was wrong with ES.
Set your directory settings for Home to the External SD Card
Change the default window settings to the following: Sdcard, Home, whatever else you want loaded AFTER these
This will make it so that the first loaded 'window' of ES is the device's internal memory. Then it will load the external SD card as the second 'window'. As long as you check it in the proper order, it will load just fine.

@grunt0300 if you really want, I can take a look into the permission.xml. however, no way I am making the commits to my device at the moment. All I know (without looking up the exact wording) is that in permissions.xml is a line for read external storage and that line is set to media/mnt/sdcard instead of storage/sdcard1.

The script is pointing to the wrong location for SD card Dev/block/vold/179:25. If you are familiar with Odin and comfortable with the possibility of bricking or rendering your tablet unbootable, try editing that to 179:17 and running the script. I don't guarantee that will work, but that is the address of my ext SD running cm11 on a sm-t310.
Yours may be different on a 210. Run mount from terminal and hunt for the 179:XX for sdcard1 and verify before trying though.

As long as I have a backup in twrp, i can always restore (in case something is royally screwed up), right?

I would test it and see if it works, then if it does, have it set to run at boot, but a backup never hurts. I just backed mine up before testing blackhawk kernel, which worked well on the kids tab3.

So I mounted ran "mount" in terminal emulator and it refers to anything on my external sd card as 179:73. (@zibrah3ed sorry I didn't catch that in your first post)
So I guess that's the number I need.
Thanks for your help guys.
I did it and it worked perfectly. Having one gta game on my phone no longer prevents me from installing other apk's. Thanks for all your help. I'm sure this will be useful to a lot of people with 8gb of internal memory.
I was wondering if you got it working. I noticed there is not much information about these tabs, compared to the tab 2, which is the last gtab I had. I bought my sons kids tab assuming it would have similar support. All that was really important was root/recovery and some sort of memory swap, as I loaded it with many of the games I have on my 32gb tab. I took back a nabi because sometimes the memory swap I was using wouldn't stick on reboot, and getting it going again would be to much for my 4 year old. Anyways, glad you got it going.

yeah, that is the same as mine. and it worked for me instantly. I have a 32 gb card, so maybe your 64 gb card is the issue. I wish I could help you more, but I'm just not too knowledgeable about this stuff.
Maybe one of the guys that helped me could jump in?
Good Luck

First of all you need to be rooted. Then you need to grant es file explorer superuser permission when it asks. then you go into /data folder. You should see a lot of files/folders in there. If you can't you probably aren't using es file explorer as a rooted user. Then you long select the script and select properties. then change permissions by checking read, write, execute (all 3 should be checked) under the owner option. Then so to smanager and continue the tut

SD Card not writeable - the usual fixes aren't working

I know this is a common thing, and I'm used to dealing with it myself just fine - but this iteration has me completely stumped. I'm on RR, Sprint firmware, have everything working perfectly, except SD card is not writeable. I can move things around in Solid Explorer, but I can't use TiBu or any other app that writes to it. Rom Toolbox wouldn't let me change permissions, I messed around with SuperSU, it appears that my root is working fine just the SD card being lame. This is the first time I've dealt with this on the 10.
Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks J, I will give that a shot and report back when I can. Had to actually RUU and start over to get my data connection back so, it's sadly a moot point now. Thanks for the help!
