I often find myself wanting to show someone a picture or current screen display, but when I hand them my phone either touching the screen or one of the buttons or making that gesture suddenly changes the screen, or moves the picture. Is there some way to freeze the screen on purpose so it can be passed around safely?
I know about screen capture programs (Screenshot, Shootme) and the screen capture built into some ROMs Power Menu, but those don't keep the resulting scene on the screen (one needs to use a file program to find the graphic, which is clumsy and time consuming).
I agree, i always give my phone to my relatives or friends and they always press the back or home button somehow -.-!
One solution , would be to use a transparent lock screen with a very small unlock toggle ...
Lock it , hand it to them ...
Screenshot would do

This sounds just right, but is there such a lock screen available?

I have that program, and it works well, but after taking the shot one needs to recall the complex name and directory, and once found the viewing program has all the buttons active. I have a shortcut to Astro opening in the directory, but even with a half dozen thumbnails, it isn't clear sometimes which one I want to show. I don't see any option to freeze the view.

I don't have the link, but search around , there are some threads on transparent lockscreens ...
Not sure but you may be able to do it with just a transparent .png and setting that as your lockscreen background, but that is just a guess ....
Hello,
On 4.0.3, when you pressed a button (for example, dialing a number in the stock phone app) the button would stay highlighted and slowly fade back to the original colour. It seems that this effect has been lost when 4.0.4 source was merged in CM9 for the SGS2.
I'm curious if this is actually a change made by Google, or if some conflict was caused by the new source? So, for people who have a Nexus running 4.0.4, is this glow effect gone?
If so, does anyone know the particular file(s) in the source where this change was made?
Thanks to anyone who can help!
Yes, you are true.
It is removed from my 4.0.4
Ohh, i now noticed that also "menĂ¹" button and backspace button inverted their position in the dialer :O
edit: also the bottom bar is changed

Looks like google has moved the menu button from the top right to the bottom right in many things now. I like this much better, sucked trying to reach my thumb up there. Google Voice and Gmail have them down there now too... not sure when those changes happened. I didn't notice until this thread.

I noticed this when selecting menus in settings. It's much better now, that glow effect stuttered a lot.
i wish there could be an option to remove the 'frequently called' below the favorite my gf sees it shes gonna kill me lol
Its not that it's been removed, its that they took the lag out of it.
It has always meant to be how it is now, but it was just super stuttery and slow before, so you actually noticed the fade. The buttons are supposed to just glow when you touch them, and fade quickly when you release them.
If you'll notice, the Back, Home, and Multitasking button still have a jittery fade to them.

I was not referring to the softkey buttons, I'm talking about buttons in the UI. For example, I noticed the effect in the stock phone app, where the buttons would have a very nice fade effect when you pressed them. In 4.0.4, it has absolutely no transition at all...
I'm wondering where this change was made in the source code, I looked at the phone app, and was not able to find anything, so I suppose it must be a change in the whole framework.

No, I'm saying in normal settings buttons they fixed it. But they left the jittery fade on the back, home, multitask. Because of this its easy to compare how it used to be and how it should be.
So is there any glow animation or not? Can somebody post a video please?

Yes there is a glow anytime you hit a button in a menu etc.. It glows light blue on grey just like it always did. It just fades smoothly and quickly when you release the button now. Before it was slow and jerky.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply
I just recently rooted to 4.3 and I just noticed today that my lock screen clock is off center. It appears to be aligned to the left. Has anyone else noticed this or know of a fix to align this?
thanks!

I see the same thing( non-root ). I couldn't find an option to center it.
I did set the Clock size from Small to Large in the Lock screen widgets, and it made it look a little better.
Clock Left Alignment
Yeah I shiver every time I go to unlock my phone with the clock off center. I have looked around a bit to see if I could change the settings but as said before it only gives the option to change Size and add date. I just received a text message and it shows on my lock screen and I can see why they put it more to the left but if I turn off the text preview I thought it may correct the clock.
I just updated this morning and will search around but I am still trying to figure out a few things. If anyone has a fix for the following i would <3 you!
1. I hate the text messaging images now(picture of contact) any way to turn off?
2. I want the status bar text preview but not on my lock screen. Option combines the preview for the status bar and lock screen.
3. I dont want the notification box to open on my lock screen. "New Message"
If anyone has any advice or would like to tell me to suck it up please let me know!
I played around with screen resolution and now I can't get it back to how it was , the status bar is too small and the apps on the home screen are all odd sizes
Please help

When I started my 600 for the first time yesterday, the home screen had about six app icons on a horizontal strip at the bottom of the screen. I don't know what I did, but the strip is gone and the icons now just appear as any others on the home screen.
I liked that strip for quick access to important apps.
Anyone know how to restore it?
Thanks,

Are you using TouchWiz or a separate launcher?
It's in the settings somewhere and should be labeled as dock, dock settings. Check out appearance/window settings. It's in there.
