Can you use the app Wifi Tether? I know I had issues with the JellyBean built in hotspot. It would work for my TF700 but not for my windows laptop.

You have a couple of options. They are detecting it based on your user agent coming from your computer browser. If you use Chrome, just download any of these user agent switchers, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/user-agent switcher, and switch to some version of Safari.
Most mobile browsers send Safari as part of their string, so you should be able to use it without a problem. I am looking into a proxy on the phone that is easy to set up, and then you won't have to do this workaround. I will update here if I can.
Please thank me if this works.

Again, if user agent isn't the problem -which it obviously is not if you are tethering to another android device- try wifi-tether or another 3rd party app as opposed to the stock hotspot app. Wifi tether works fine for me.
Not working trying from nexus 7 and gets blocked

Please help I get blocked
Im on unlimited dada plane
I get redirect to tmobile site
Were do you add it the line or ect

The reason why you're being blocked is because your on the unlimited data plan with T-mobile you don't have access to WiFi tether on the unlimited data you can switch to one that's not unlimited high speed and you'll get your tether back.

Does CM10.1 have free tethering built in? Or, do I have to edit APN's and such to get around T-Mobile's 500mb a month limit?
It should have free tethering. It did on my n4. I can only assume its the same for the S4

Simple answer, yes.
Is tethering like the wifi hotspot thing?

Yes
T-Mobile will check your user agent to see if you are tethering though. Normally you can use a VPN to encrypt all of your traffic, but I cant find a 3rd party tethering app that will work on CM10.1, 10.2, or any 4.3 ROM
Hi,
I have a rooted note 8 the is experiencing frequent data connection drops. It will connect for about 15 minutes and loses the data connection after.
I'm using droidwall along with onavo counter so I am suspecting that droidwall is the culprit. Anyone has similar experience?
Thanks

Seriously...I just type "dsploit" in Google and BIMMM, I got it, in top research... Do you want we install it for you ? -_-
Anyway, you have to know, you will not be able to "hack" WPA/WPA2 in an interesting time, and WEP are not famous nowaday.
The idea could be to create a hotspot with big company hotspot name (often, ISP have), with auth-proxy, and save the credential in a DB... my point of view.

And why did this, probably 12 years old, 1337h4xor guy sign up on XDA?

Agree But it's hard to hack someone's wifi
You can use something called Reaver, it cracks the WPS Pin. And from that you can get the WiFi key. Only problem is... It isn't compatible with all chipsets, and it takes a dependant amount of time. But it does always work if your WiFi card inside your phone is supported.
PS: you must stay in range too.
Thread closed... We aren't here to use XDA to hack passwords... Also, please use search before posting or creating new threads. Plenty of these already in existence.
Can someone else please confirm these results? I used foxfi to tether my pc and to watch netflix on my ps3 and ive gone over the limit
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
it did this all the time dude
Can anyone confirm? Is this routing traffic through a proxy? T-Mobile scans headers and detects psn network so curious to see if anyone else has similar results.

You have to use a VPN if you want to use your ps3. I use hotspot shield for to achieve what you need. Along with wifi tether router. Trust me it works fine. I'm playing cod all day

I'm using Darthstalker rom version 6. I tether my PC without issues. I just have to switch the user agent to kindle on Google chrome.

Just download the kit kat version of wicked. No vpn or switcher agent needed. Works on ps3 and ps4 (unlimited).

What else do I have to do? Change settings, other apps, etc. I have the paid version of Foxfi & Wifi Tether. I have done everyrhing, but nobody post EXACTLY what they did, cause from every instruction I have followed, I keep getting up-sell & blocked. I am running Hyperdrive, and have Wicked on stand-by, please display EXACT STEPS.
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
(First let me say im on 4.3 bootloader using kitkat wicked 4.4) Get wicked rom change the apn protocols to ivp4/ivp6. Reset your phone and run the native (t-mobile) hotspot. Very simple.

Thanks for the help! I'm going to try it!
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Free mobile app
Tethering does work on Wicked or any rom... but T-Mobile blocks many ip addresses... PSN network, many XBMC addons like Icefilms using the FireTV. A work around would be great!

I have a plain Stock Rom on my thread, on the 3rd post, and follow directions, its not Rooted, and the tether works fine, i'm using it as we speak,
if you want it rooted, just flash chainfires superuser..
but if you mean you want it on your plain stock rom, it won't work, you need to do some edits on a few files.
look on my signature, it will lead u there. :good:
