Hardware: Yes
Software: Yes
Long answer,
Hardware: HTC is getting enough PR about One X faults right now that they'll most likely at least quietly tweak the manufacturing process. If the PR gets louder, they may come clean, but that is unlikely unless issues are extremely widespread.
Software: Every single phone get's better firmware/OS over time, happens with most technology related products. The development forums are already fairly active, they'll be packed in 6 months time.
HTC have done themselves no favour by releasing a ridiculously embarrassing firmware (any firmware from a massive corporation where a main app/driver related to power is in the wrong folder is simply unforgivable). The hardware side of things looks to be disappointing, early adopters are always in my mind real testers, as these days so many flaws seem to escape Q&A, some of which you'd wonder if a phone was even tested. However the hardware flaws don't seem to yet fall under a category of anything out of the ordinary for a new product launch these days.
i remember this happened with original desire and it got better so answer is yes it will

Can't argue with that but I've never once had battery life so poor on a phone that I needed to carry around a second battery.

Hardware changes rapidly and so does software. People were saying the exact same thing about dual core / quad core on computers and now it's at the point where most new applications *need* multicore CPUs in order to function.
My honest opinion would be that the nexus doesnt really beat it now and if you got that, within 6 months you would be regretting it as the nexus would be lagging behind specs wise.
To me the battery life seems to depend on the person. I came from the Galaxy S2 and the HTC beats it hands down, some people are reporting otherwise.
As for better camera, the HTC`s is probably the best on the market at the minute.

Galaxy nexus is not smoother, even though HTC isn't completely smooth when running large widgits. (Run a live wallpaper on the Galaxy Nexus and watch it crumble to its knees due to its very poor GPU)
Better camera? - you cannot be serious!
Better battery life? - the galaxy nexus doesn't even stack up to the SGS2 regarding battery life, & I've done many personal battery tests comparing to my SGS2 , and the HTC ONe X has a better battery life (even with 1.26) when compared to the SGS2.

just about every comparison i have seen the camera gets beaten by a lot of phones on the market.. Hardly seen one that says x one is the best.
But its what the real people say not the reviewers.
Thanks for the advice peeps, still swaying towards the one x even though the reviews have not been as good as expected.

All phones will have a period to iron out the bugs and glitches. If your an early adopter than you will be a tester for HTC as I am for sure they read XDA for user experience. In 3-6 months time, new firmware will bring the HOX to a stable state. Patience wil get you a long way...

Just want to be really sure, after all i will have it for 2 years. I am coming from a desire.
How the hell can HTC mess up by putting the battery file in the wrong folder ? its dose not fill me up with confidence .
When you get a device at when it releases you're tend to have bugs but since HTC giving so much importance to One series you can see lot of updates happening over time. I'm sure HTC is capable of bring a really stable firmware in future. When I say future I mean maybe in 3 or 4 months.
Regular apps doesn't need Quad Core but new generation games do. nVidia is already making Game developers to design games that take advantage of the Quad Core so it's not in future it has already started. We have a strong hardware we just need some work on drivers and firmware which is fixable.

Where on earth did you get this information from? It's all wrong!
I upgraded from the Nexus to the One X and the One X is better in every way.
Seriously, the Nexus's camera is absolutely terrible, the stock firmware is laggy and the battery life sucks. It also feels cheap and the back battery cover is really flimsy. The only goood thing about it is that it's a "Nexus" device, so dev support is very good for it.
No offense, but you'd have to be incredibly stupid to get the Nexus.

Probably Yes, and the devs at XDA will surely find a way to make it perform better.
But now, Software wise The Galaxy Nexus is still better than the One X. It performs better in almost all software aspects. Since it was the device ICS was specifically designed for.

I've had both. If the one x is kept up to date by HTC which I expect it will. The one x is MUCH better hardware wise. Sense took some getting used to but u can always root and stick a special Rom and stay more up to date that way if HTC falls by the way side. This phone is beautiful in every way. My favorite part is the way the front glass is smooth all the way to the edge of the phone. If you rub your hands across it u get this buttery smooth feel to it and its the only phone like it. They did a wonderful job making it feel like such a premium device.

HTC is pretty good on updates they released one of the first ICS updates for some of their phones. The only way to flash new software at the moment is by unlocking the boot loader. This voids your warranty with HTC. But id go into a shop and use both see which you prefer.
I've seen lots of YouTube comparisons and I don't see any remarcable difference. I'm bored of samsung and his development team...

Flashing is better and easier on the Samsung IMHO
Performance is better on the Samsung although you'd struggle to tell during normal use and gaming
The screen is great indoors on the Samsung
The screen on the HTC is much, much better outdoors
The radio is much better on the HTC for both calls and Bluetooth
You can't have additional sd card storage on the HTC which is pretty lame
It's really a matter of preference but as I need the brighter screen and a good radio I have my Samsung away and kept the HTC.

ok back to serious mode, HTC does update better. Full stop. Be it late or not, they'll update it anyway. but still no guarantee. if they dont. you're f***ed... well at least in 2 years maybe HTC will ditch this device. so you're good. other than that, unlock, root and slap a custom rom with latest update.

I chose the one x. Now I'm going to try to be as unbiased as possible and givyou my thoughts. Having used both devices.
One X pros:
-Excellent stand by time
-Sense in my opinion is pretty
-after having used this display I must say the amoled screen feels kind of dim
stock browser reflow is awesome
Cons:
stock may be pretty but that comes with a price: lagg on a quad
Stock browser could use some improvement(apart from reflow)
Stupid warranty voiding by unlocking boot loader
I feel like the screen gets scratched easily. I have scratches popping out of nowhere despite using a sock. This is the most disappointing to me.(I read it is the oleophobic coating being scratched, nevertheless, utter bull crap, I would suggest you really invest in a screen protector. This is my first HTC phone and I must say I am not really satisfied , I'm saying this cause when I bought the quad i had the mindset: "Cool, won't have to flash custom roms cause this baby will definitely destroy everything." In fact, it was the compete opposite, after a month of use i decided to slap a rom onto it. That's when you really notice: "god is sense one piece of laggy ****"

UI looks like crap but at least it is not laggy or a lot less laggy ( A LOT).
appearence is not as pretty as the one x but at least the battery life is better.
Probably more development if you decide to root thus having more ROMs and maybe even better ones.
Ics 4.0.4 out of the box. As I said, this is my first HTC phone and despite many saying HTC is good when it comes to updates I have yet to see that.
It seems like I may have a grudge at htc , but I still don't regret buying it despite this ****ty device I own , that even comes with wlan issue feature. You have to manually apply pressure to the back of the phone somewhere near the camera. Making browsing while trying to stabilize the wlan for faster internet speed a GREAT experience.
They should really be thankful their screen is top notch, this is the main thing that has got me sold.
Just my thoughts. Hardware wise I would say both are quite similar. What one company decides to make out of a powerhouse is another story

I dont like the screen made by samsung, the amoled. So i choosed HOX.
Owning both, I am using hox as my daily driver.
Hox, only con is battery life. As far as external sd is concerned, i have most of my pics (9,000) odd on picasa and drop box. Only thing i have placed on the inbuilt memory is music and some picture albums.
Pros: the mail program which is light years ahead of anything on android.
Social integration of contacts.
The drop dead gorgeous screen.
Radio and signal strength is infinitely superior to sgs3.
I just like the way sense integrates everything.
Sgs3 really nice phone but the screen is just painful. Hate the inbuilt email program, dialer and contact management. Touchwiz is too cartoon like. You really need to flash a custom rom to make use of the sgs3.
If mails, contact integration/management and better out of the box experience is what you want, then go for hox. If you like flashing a bunch of custom roms go for sgs3.
Lastly, I use android, bb, and an ipad since years and the max use on a daily basis is of my hox. That should give an indication of how good this phone and sense is. The mail program of sense blows even the bb one out out of the water.
Just my two cents.

The HOX screen is clearly the best screen available, so if you use your often for multimedia definetly the HOX.
I sold my i9100 before the SGS3 came out so I'd get more for it. I bought the One X always intending to get the i9300 when it was released. I ended up keeping the One X. Here's why...

The One X screen is better IMO. I think signal strenght is better too, however I never had any issues with either so it's not really a problem. I have the latest stock firmware on my HOX and battery life is terrible though. That's one thing that appeals more about the S3: not only is the battery replaceable but it's also SO much better. I could easy get 30% more use out of the S3. The fact that the battery is very much NOT user replaceable even as much as the one on the iPhone 4 is is somewhat depressing. It's VERY much embedded.
And that, for me is the killer for the HOX.
On top of that, even if you don't think that Touchwiz is very good, it takes a matter of minutes to root or flash a custom ROM to Samsung devices, and the modding scene has much more life.
So if you don't care that much about battery life and never feel the need to root then the HOX is still a pretty nice phone and I personally love the feel of it but a few design decisions have spoilt it a little.
Oh....and the camera is better on the S3 to my mind, even if the Samsung device doesn't have as wide an aperture. The S3 seems to deal with extremities of dark and light better, and there is less blurring in close-up detail.
Just my thoughts as the owner of both devices.

each and evryone complain about this ****ty battery life. why doesnt HTC do anything about it i dont get it. how bad is the battery? i will be buying the HOX next week. now i am afraid. cant buy the s3 because its more expensive. its almost $240 more then the price of HOX. so there are no substitutes. what should i do? i need 13hrs of battery life with at least 3.5hrs screen on.

It's really not that bad. I'm getting about the same battery life I did on my i9100 using the phones the same way. A lot of it is psychological. I had spare batteries for the i9100 (that I used maybe twice in eleven months) so when it was getting near empty I didn't freak out. With the One X when you're done, you're done. I bought a couple of CR-S650 docks so the phones always charging when I'm not using it and I have a high-output auxiliary battery that I originally bought for my tablet. If you top up during the day you should be fine. 3.5 hours of screen-on time over 13 hours is kind of pushing it. The 2.X update that's pending improves battery life and should help you reach your goal. It's too early to say for sure though. If it’s something that you’ll end up obsessing about avoid the grief and save the additional money to get an SGS3. It’s a great phone too and probably a better choice for those that need flexibility with their batteries.

i just sold the quad SGS3 for 435$ last week, many people didn't even want it, it screams clumsy and cheap on all levels except brute power
Pls do not go for ****sung . Samsung always forget their customers after sold. Koreans are so smart in marketing sgs3 designed for humans with less brain. Samsung always use crap plastic and cheap materials in their phones.

So we all know the news of the new nexus, the 16gb costs the same as the HTC one x if I sell mine. All of the internal specs seem great I'm not bothered about sd card, non removable and lte. I just wanted to know is anyone else was buying it by trading their hox in, I just care to know if the camera quality, screen quality, DAC are better then the hox because these are the main reasons why I would buy it since the hox has bad output speaker, battery life, overheats and I don't what a phone with a worser screen then my current or I'll feel like I've downgraded instead.
The camera that is used is a Sony bsi camera in the nexus 4, which is the same as the iPhone 5's. I do like the hox camera but it is behind the iPhone 5, s3 and lumia 920 in terms of quality and colour reproduction. I was watching the verge video which stated that one of the main people behind the nexus 4 said they spent a lot of time making it good at low light shoots which the hox suffers in. The one x+ is good too but I don't like the 40nm CPU and the material used as it gets dirty to easily. So what do you lot think is it worth the trade or are you happy with the hox?

I'm going to try Gumtree first, then eBay then buy a N4 with the money.
You can put your sim into any unlocked phone and continue paying your bill as normal.
Hmm I'm happy with my HOX but I want the latest and greatest. The major selling point is that it is a nexus device.
I could recycle my HOX for £195 that wouldn't leave me far off the money needed, but I'm not sure its worth it.
My one X does everything I could possibly want at the moment.
If the N4 had LTE capability, maybe I would be completely swayed.

I'm broke, but selling my HOX should cover most of the cost
I absolutely love my HTC One X, it's a great machine,
but I'm unhappy what is happening in this device section.
People are ignoring forum rules, no respect among each other, moaning about the device, comparing it with other manufacturers and so on.
Jelly Bean rocks on HTC One X, battery live is awesome and the rom flies.
I've see the Nexus 4 video but I don't like the design of the machine and the OS has some new stuff but not so impresive to my opinion.
Anyway if I sell my HTC One X, I'm going back to Microsoft, the HTC 8x or the Nokia 9200 are looking great.
I still doubt to choose between those two phones because the Nokia has a Carl Zeiss lens but also the HTC 8x seems to have a amazing camera with new technology.
So probably one of those machines will be my next phone.

For me HOX is amazing phone. Solid in hand, looks amazing. I really do not understand why battery life is bad .. i am having 48h with daily use.. at some point even more. With that kind a battery and stock rom 2days+ is great, isn't it? 3~5% battery loss in deep sleep (night time) 8~10h.
Agree that Nexus 4 should be good, better than HOX performance/camera wise. Still like the looks of HOX more than N4.
For a quad core beast... what do you think?
The previous single core phones I owned even couldn't make a full day without charging.

Go for the Nexus 4. Any Nexus device is so much better than an hTC device. Always up-to-date sources, working drivers, best support. hTC just lost it along the way.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and am thinking of switching to a One X. Not sold yet, though, because of the device's speed and Android's ugly apps. Thinking of iPhone 5 (but am not rich so can't afford it) and Lumia 920 (same).

Average. The standby (or sleeping) power consumption is really good, and things like browsing the Web and listening to music are pretty good too, but CPU intensive tasks can really drain the battery. I fairly easily get a whole day out of it with moderate to heavy usage.

If your budget is big enough, I might advice you to look for the improved version of the phone, One X+ that is. It comes with JB, a faster processor and bigger storage (64GB). If budget is limited then get the One X. You can take a look at the Nexus 4 too and see if you like it or not, it depends on what you need.
Not trying to keep you from the One X or anything, its a great phone and its been working fine for me for the past 7 months and can definitely last more than 2 years. I'm just telling you to check the market for all the options so you are 100% confident with your decision.

1. I found that on stock ICS, the One X did lag sometimes when multiple apps were open. If you are willing to flash a custom ROM, or when the stock Jelly Bean update is installed, it should have no lag because of project butter. I am on the CyanogenMod 10 ROM and it is lightning fast, and I have never noticed any lag at all.
2. The battery depends on the usage of the phone. I have found that after a usual day of usage, I have about 25-35% battery left, and this includes using power-hungry games.
3. Yes, the games are insanely fast, due to the Tegra 3 processor. Nvidia have a really strong background in gaming (due to all of their PC GPU's), and this really shows when playing any game.

IMO, if you can afford it, go for the One X+ instead of the One X. That bigger battery is really something to consider however, I see no big difference apart from that (better GPU and higher CPU/GPU clocks are no big deal IMO). If you can't afford it or if you find the extras on the One X+ no big deal, get the One X w/o a moment's hesitation

Because the Nexus 4 has a much cheaper build quality, has glass on both sides which makes it more prone to smashing (Gorilla Glass 2 isn't unbreakable) and HTC Sense is really good for consumers that will keep the phone as it is (Sense does have a lot of great features), not to mention the worst fact that there are no capacitive buttons on the Nexus 4, which means that screen real estate is taken up by the on-screen buttons. Also, in my opinion, the device looks ugly, especially on the back with that awful looking camera and the weird sparkly effect.
Still, I do think that the wireless charging is really cool, and I can see why people buy the nexus devices to get stock android immediately. I also realise that it feels cheaper because it is cheaper.
I just think that the negatives of the Nexus 4, and the positives of the One X make the One X a much better phone, and if you want an unlocked bootloader, if you go to htcdev.com, they could not have made it simpler to do.
I just got my HTC One X last week.
I got it because I was really tired of the lag of my HTC Sensation XE (1.5 GHz Dual Core with 780+ MB of RAM).
I loaded all my previous apps on the One X (so I would have a fair comparison), I can tell you there is a HUGE difference in speed. It was really much more than I hoped for. The One X is very much faster and task switching is immediate.
Opening/browsing/closing the Google Play was a real pain on the Sensation XE, but on the One X it's really smooth and satisfying.
For the battery, it's about the same of my Sensation XE. But considering the One X has a bigger screen and a quad core, I was happy with the battery life (I was expecting a shorter battery life). I have the data on all day long (3G only, HSDA network) with many apps syncing and moderate usage (including watching youtube), I can survive a full day easily (7 AM - 12 midnight).
For games, I don't play games so I can't tell.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm still on ICS, as Jelly Bean is not out yet for my region. My old Sensation XE was on ICS too.
Also, my HTC One X is all stock, no roots or custom ROM. So if you want more speed (although I don't see why) you can put a stock JB ROM and other users say it will get smoother.
After more days spent with my new phone, still can say that I am in love with my One X.

I think you have some good points, however I have both right next to me at the moment. I wouldn't say that either has better build quality. They're very different design philosophies. If you like the feel of the iphone 4s then the nexus will be better but if you like the lumia polycarbonate style then the one x for sure. For me I prefer the nexus simply because it makes it feel more like a grown ups phone as opposed to a toy so much.
Otherwise it's pretty night and day in terms of usability. The nexus 4 is a lot quicker and smoother and cooler. The one x does win on screen and camera though.
OP if you don't like lag this is a no brainer, the nexus is much better.

Haha, just make sure you don't get an operator branded phone or be unlucky enough to get one with an uncommon CID, yes. But you've still got a device manufacturer telling YOU what YOU can do with the device YOU own. Which sucks.
If the HOX is so much better than the Nexus 4, then you'll have to show me the fields of people waiting to swap my immaculate HOX for one. I suspect they don't exist though.
Yes, different things appeal to different people, and the industrial design of the HOX is nice, but I suspect from what I've read the N4 could not really be considered to have 'inferior build quality'. I don't even like the idea of a dual-faced glass device, but I'd still have one to get that device at that price. Either way, given that the N4 should be just over half the price, there's simply no competition.

That just practically means that no-one is swapping a One X for a Nexus 4. Well done :laugh:
And in response to 'letom', I do like the Nexus 4, and the price together with the fresh OS is why a lot of people would choose to buy one. I'm just saying that if I had no phone again and I had to buy one, I would still probably get the One X. I just like the premium feel and the screens on HTC phones are unbeatable (I also really like the camera). And yes, running Sense and with all the apps that HTC forces upon you (like 7Digital), it is more laggy than the Nexus 4. All you have to do is root it and install CM10, and they both have zero lag.
And I think we can all agree, Android > iOS anyday
Actually no, if I had no phone, I would wait for the HTC M7 (rumoured to launch Q1 2013). The Droid DNA is just the warm-up phone in the build up to the M7. Although, it is still all rumours at the moment so we probably won't see or hear about it until MWC 2013.
The problem is I bet you the new HTC still won't be as smooth as the nexus 4. I have jelly Bean on my one x right now, and yes it's smooth but it's not up there with how smooth the nexus is. Look at the reviews of the DNA they're saying it's still bogged down by sense. You should only be getting a HTC phone is you like sense, and live by it.

I've been searching for a replacement for my galaxy S1 and where I live (Austria) the HOX is sold at 329 for the 32gb version.
Seems a decent price in my opinion only thing I'm concerned is overheating and battery life.
Do all phones have this problem or is it just some of them. Surly I'm not gonna try to replace the battery on a new phone.

I have my HOX since the release and it only becomes hot when you're playing graphical intensive games. But even then it's not overheating.
I can use my phone over one day on one battery charge, which is enough for me.

1 - You'll have a job replacing the battery, its non removeable.
2 - My HOX has only overheated 1 time in the 8 or 9 months I've owned it, and that was because FB was on a crash loop.
3 - Thats a great price for the HOX!!
4 - Battery life isn't bad, but it isnt amazing either. With some tweaks you can easily get a full day of use though !
I had One X since it was released
it's one of the best phones I had in my life
It's really fast and great for gaming and every day use, I had an issue after updating to JB (official unrooted sense) and I got a boot loop.
anyway this happened to other brands, and the support was quick to reply (though I'm in the middle-east)
and considering the screen size and the quad-core and tegra 3, the battery is fairly not bad
and there is a power saving option in the latest update
pros
1- it's fast
2-the costumer care is great
3-the camera is amazing
4-the games looks great and fast
5-the phone gets warm sometimes but normal heating NOT overheating at all
6-the wifi works good for me
7-it doesn't need a screen protection since it has (Gorilla Glass) , months of heavy daily use now.. not a single scratch
and one of the things I like the most about my HOX is the perfect design and building materials, you'll love to hold it
cons
1-it doesn't have S-OFF.. might be a problem for some
2-it doesn't have and SD slot.. but 32 GB is more than enough for me
3-the speaker is not the loudest in the market, its a little less than average, not a problem for me
so overall , I'm happy with it and I advice you to buy it

The only problems I had with the phone were to begin with Stock....
Since I've been using custom roms, like Lextermina or Renovate, there are no more errors to report :good:
So at all, i can recommend the Hox for u!
